ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܨܦܢܝܐ ܒܪ ܟܘܫܝ ܒܪ ܓܕܠܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܡܪܝܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܚܠܩܝܐ ܒܝ̈ܘܡܬܗ ܕܝܘܫܝܐ ܒܪ ܐܡܘܢ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ
dyhwd' mlk' 'mwn br dywshy' bywmthh dkhlqy' brh 'mry' br gdly' br kwshy br tspny' el dhw' dmry' pthgmh
Yahweh’s word which came to Zephaniah, the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah.

ܡܥܒܪܘ ܡܥܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܟܠ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܦܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' 'mr d're' 'pyh mn kl 'n' mebr mebrw
I will utterly sweep away everything from the surface of the earth, says Yahweh.

ܡܥܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܒܢܝܢ̈ܫܐ ܘܒܥܝܪܐ ܡܥܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܦܪܚܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܘܢ̈ܘܢܐ ܕܝܡܐ ܘܬܘܩܠܬܐ ܐܝܬܐ ܥܠ ܚ̈ܛܝܐ ܘܐܘܒܕ ܒܢܝܢ̈ܫܐ ܡܢ ܐ̈ܦܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' 'mr d're' 'pyh mn bnynsh' w'wbd khTy' el 'yth' wthwqlth' dym' wnwn' dshmy' prkhth' 'n' mebr wbeyr' bnynsh' 'n' mebr
I will sweep away man and animal. I will sweep away the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and the heaps of rubble with the wicked. I will cut off man from the surface of the earth, says Yahweh.

ܘܐܪܝܡ ܐܝܕܝ ܥܠ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܘܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܐܘܒܕ ܡܢ ܐܬܪܐ ܗܢܐ ܫܪܟܗ ܕܒܥܠܐ ܘܫܡܐ ܕܟܘܡܪ̈ܐ ܥܡ ܕܟܗ̈ܢܐ
dkhn' em dkwmr' wshm' dbel' shrkh hn' 'thr' mn w'wbd d'wrshlm emwryh klhwn wel yhwd' el 'ydy w'rym
I will stretch out my hand against Judah and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place—the name of the idolatrous and pagan priests,

ܘܠܟܠ ܕܣܓܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܠ ܐܓܪ̈ܐ ܠܚ̈ܝܠܘܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܣܓܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܝܡܝܢ ܒܡܪܝܐ ܘܝܡܝܢ ܒܡܠܟܘܡ
bmlkwm wymyn bmry' wymyn hww dsgdyn wlkl dshmy' lkhylwth' 'gr' el hww dsgdyn wlkl
those who worship the army of the sky on the housetops, those who worship and swear by Yahweh and also swear by Malcam,

ܘܠܟܠ ܕܗܦܟܝܢ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܟܠ ܕܠܐ ܒܥܝܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܥܩܒܝܢ ܥܠܘܗܝ
elwhy meqbyn wl' lmry' beyn dl' wlkl mry' mn dhpkyn wlkl
those who have turned back from following Yahweh, and those who haven’t sought Yahweh nor inquired after him.

ܕܚܠܘ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܩܪܝܒ ܗܘ ܝܘܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܛܝܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܒܚ̈ܐ ܘܙܡܢ ܩܪ̈ܘܗܝ
qrwhy wzmn dbkh' mry' wTyb dmry' ywmh hw dqryb mTl mrwth' mr' qdm mn dkhlw
Be silent at the presence of the Lord Yahweh, for the day of Yahweh is at hand. For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܕܒܚܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܐܦܩܘܕ ܥܠ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܘܥܠ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܘܥܠ ܟܠ ܕܠܒܫܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܒܘ̈ܫܐ ܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ
nwkry' lbwsh' hww dlbshyn kl wel mlk' bny wel rwrbn' el 'pqwd dmry' ddbkhh bywm' wnhw'
It will happen in the day of Yahweh’s sacrifice that I will punish the princes, the king’s sons, and all those who are clothed with foreign clothing.

ܘܐܦܩܘܕ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܚ̈ܛܘܦܐ ܘܒܙܘ̈ܙܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܕܡܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܝܬ ܡܕܢܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܚܛܘܦܝܐ ܘܢܟܠܐ
wnkl' khTwpy' mdnyhwn byth hww dmlyn hw bywm' wbzwz' khTwp' klhwn el w'pqwd
In that day, I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their master’s house with violence and deceit.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܩܠܐ ܕܩܥܬܐ ܡܢ ܬܪܥܐ ܕܨܝ̈ܕܐ ܘܝܠܠܬܐ ܡܢ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܘܬܒܪܐ ܪܒܐ ܡܢ ܪܡܬܐ
rmth' mn rb' wthbr' 'khrn' mn wyllth' dtsyd' thre' mn dqeth' ql' mry' 'mr hw bywm' wnhw'
In that day, says Yahweh, there will be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills.

ܐܝܠܠܘ ܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܡܟܬܫ ܡܛܠ ܕܬܘܪ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܟܢܥܢ ܘܐܒܕܘ ܟܠ ܫܩ̈ܠܝ ܣܐܡܐ
s'm' shqly kl w'bdw dknen em' klh dthwr mTl dmkthsh emwryh 'yllw
Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the people of Canaan are undone! All those who were loaded with silver are cut off.

ܘܢܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܒܨܝܗ̇ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܒܫܪܓܐ ܘܐܦܩܘܕ ܥܠ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܕܫܝܛܝܢ ܠܢܛܘܪܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܒܠܒܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܡܛܐܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܡܒܐܫ
mb'sh l' 'p mry' mT'b l' blbhwn w'mryn lnTwrhwn dshyTyn gbr' el w'pqwd bshrg' l'wrshlm 'btsyh mry' 'mr hw bzbn' bh wnhw'
It will happen at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are settled on their dregs, who say in their heart, “Yahweh will not do good, neither will he do evil.”

ܢܗܘܐ ܩܢܝܢܗܘܢ ܠܒܙܬܐ ܘܒܬ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܠܚܒܠܐ ܘܢܒܢܘܢ ܒܬ̈ܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܬܒܘܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܘܢܨܒܘܢ ܟܪ̈ܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܫܬܘܢ ܚܡܪܗܘܢ
khmrhwn nshthwn wl' krm' wntsbwn bhwn nthbwn wl' bth' wnbnwn lkhbl' wbthyhwn lbzth' qnynhwn nhw'
Their wealth will become a plunder, and their houses a desolation. Yes, they will build houses, but won’t inhabit them. They will plant vineyards, but won’t drink their wine.

ܩܪܝܒ ܗܘ ܝܘܡܗ ܪܒܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܩܪܝܒ ܗܘ ܛܒ ܘܡܣܪܗܒ ܩܠܐ ܕܝܘܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܪܝܪ ܘܩܫܐ ܘܥܫܝܢ
weshyn wqsh' mryr dmry' dywmh ql' wmsrhb Tb hw qryb dmry' rb' ywmh hw qryb
The great day of Yahweh is near. It is near and hurries greatly, the voice of the day of Yahweh. The mighty man cries there bitterly.

ܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܟܬܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܘܕܥܩܬܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܕܘܘܕܐ ܘܕܚܒܠܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܚܫܘܟܐ ܘܕܥܡܛܢܐ ܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܥܢܢܐ ܘܕܥܪܦܠܐ
wderpl' denn' hw ywm' wdemTn' dkhshwk' hw ywm' wdkhbl' ddwwd' hw ywm' wdeqth' d'wltsn' hw ywm' hw ywm' d'kth' hw ywm'
That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,

ܝܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܕܩܪܢܐ ܘܕܩܥܬܐ ܥܠ ܡܕܝ̈ܢܬܐ ܥܫܝܢ̈ܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܙܘܝ̈ܬܐ ܪ̈ܡܬܐ
rmth' zwyth' wel eshynth' mdynth' el wdqeth' dqrn' hw ywm'
a day of the trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and against the high battlements.

ܘܐܠܨ ܠܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܢܗܠܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܥܘܝܪ̈ܐ ܥܠ ܕܚܛܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܘܢܬܐܫܕ ܕܡܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܥܦܪܐ ܘܒܣܪܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܟܒ̈ܝܐ
kby' 'yk wbsrhwn epr' 'yk dmhwn wnth'shd lmry' dkhTw el ewyr' 'yk dnhlkwn 'nsh' lbny w'lts
I will bring such distress on men that they will walk like blind men because they have sinned against Yahweh. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their flesh like dung.

ܘܕܗܒܗܘܢ ܘܣܐܡܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܢܫܟܚ ܠܡܦܨܝܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܒܢܘܪܐ ܕܛܢܢܗ ܬܬܐܟܠ ܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܕܠܘܚܝܐ ܘܣܘܦܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡܘܪ̈ܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ
d're' emwryh klhwn el mry' ebd wswpn' ddlwkhy' mTl 're' klh thth'kl dTnnh wbnwr' dmry' drwgzh bywm' 'nwn lmptsyw nshkkh l' ws'mhwn wdhbhwn
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.
