פתגם נבואה דהוה קדם יי עם צפניה בר כושי בר גדליה בר אמריה בר חזקיה ביומי יאשיהו בר אמון מלך שבטא דבית יהודה:
yhwdh dbyth shbTa mlk amwn br yashyhw bywmy khzqyh br amryh br gdlyh br kwshy br tspnyh em yy qdm dhwh nbwah pthgm
Yahweh’s word which came to Zephaniah, the son of Cushi, the son of Gedaliah, the son of Amariah, the son of Hezekiah, in the days of Josiah, the son of Amon, king of Judah.

שיצאה אשיצי כולא מעל אפי ארעא אמר יי:
yy amr area apy mel kwla ashytsy shytsah
I will utterly sweep away everything from the surface of the earth, says Yahweh.

אסיף אנשא ובעירא אסיף עופא דשמיא ונוני ימא על דסגיאה תקלת רשיעיא ואשיצי ית אנשא מעל אפי ארעא אמר יי:
yy amr area apy mel ansha yth washytsy rshyeya thqlth dsgyah el yma wnwny dshmya ewpa asyp wbeyra ansha asyp
I will sweep away man and animal. I will sweep away the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea, and the heaps of rubble with the wicked. I will cut off man from the surface of the earth, says Yahweh.

וארים מחת גבורתי על אנש יהודה ועל כל יתבי ירושלם ואשיצי מן אתרא הדין ית שאר בעלא וית שום פלחיהון עם כומריהון:
kwmryhwn em plkhyhwn shwm wyth bela shar yth hdyn athra mn washytsy yrwshlm ythby kl wel yhwdh ansh el gbwrthy mkhth warym
I will stretch out my hand against Judah and against all the inhabitants of Jerusalem. I will cut off the remnant of Baal from this place—the name of the idolatrous and pagan priests,

וית דסגדין לאגוריא לחילי שמיא וית דסגדין די מקימין בשמא דיי תיבין ויימין בשום פתכריהון:
pthkryhwn bshwm wyymyn thybyn dyy bshma mqymyn dy dsgdyn wyth shmya lkhyly lagwrya dsgdyn wyth
those who worship the army of the sky on the housetops, those who worship and swear by Yahweh and also swear by Malcam,

וית דאסתחרו לאחורא מבתר פולחנא דיי ודלא תבעו ית דחלתא דיי ולא בעו מן קדמוהי:
qdmwhy mn bew wla dyy dkhltha yth thbew wdla dyy pwlkhna mbthr lakhwra dasthkhrw wyth
those who have turned back from following Yahweh, and those who haven’t sought Yahweh nor inquired after him.

ספו כל רשיעיא מן קדם יי אלהים ארי קריב יומא דעתיד למיתי מן קדם יי ארי אתקין יי קטול ערע מזמנוהי:
mzmnwhy ere qTwl yy athqyn ary yy qdm mn lmythy dethyd ywma qryb ary alhym yy qdm mn rshyeya kl spw
Be silent at the presence of the Lord Yahweh, for the day of Yahweh is at hand. For Yahweh has prepared a sacrifice. He has consecrated his guests.

ויהי ביום קטלא דעתיד למיתי מן קדם יי ואסער על רברביא ועל בני מלכא ועל כל דמתרגשין למפלח לטעותא:
lTewtha lmplkh dmthrgshyn kl wel mlka bny wel rbrbya el waser yy qdm mn lmythy dethyd qTla bywm wyhy
It will happen in the day of Yahweh’s sacrifice that I will punish the princes, the king’s sons, and all those who are clothed with foreign clothing.

ואסער על כל דמהלכין בנימוסי פלשתאי בעדנא ההיא דמלן בית רבוניהון חטוף ונכלין:
wnklyn khTwp rbwnyhwn byth dmln hhya bedna plshthay bnymwsy dmhlkyn kl el waser
In that day, I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their master’s house with violence and deceit.

ויהי בעדנא ההיא אמר יי קל צוחתא מתרע נוניא ויללא מן עופא ותבירא רבא מן גבעתא:
gbetha mn rba wthbyra ewpa mn wylla nwnya mthre tswkhtha ql yy amr hhya bedna wyhy
In that day, says Yahweh, there will be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, a wailing from the second quarter, and a great crashing from the hills.

אילילו כל דיתבין בנחלא דקדרון ארי אתבר כל עמא דדמן עובדיהון לעובדי עמא דארעא דכנען אשתיציאו כל עתירי נכסיא:
nksya ethyry kl ashthytsyaw dknen darea ema lewbdy ewbdyhwn ddmn ema kl athbr ary dqdrwn bnkhla dythbyn kl aylylw
Wail, you inhabitants of Maktesh, for all the people of Canaan are undone! All those who were loaded with silver are cut off.

ויהי בעדנא ההיא אפקיד בלושין ויבלשון ית ירושלם כמא דבלשין בנברשתא ואסער על גבריא דשלן שליוא על נכסיהון דאמרין בלבהון לא רעוא קדם יי לאיטבא לצדיקיא ואף לא לאבאשא לרשיעיא:
lrshyeya labasha la wap ltsdyqya layTba yy qdm rewa la blbhwn damryn nksyhwn el shlywa dshln gbrya el waser bnbrshtha dblshyn kma yrwshlm yth wyblshwn blwshyn apqyd hhya bedna wyhy
It will happen at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and I will punish the men who are settled on their dregs, who say in their heart, “Yahweh will not do good, neither will he do evil.”

ויהון נכסיהון לעדי ובתיהון לבזא ויבנון בתין ולא יתבון ויצבון כרמין ולא ישתון ית חמריהון:
khmryhwn yth yshthwn wla krmyn wytsbwn ythbwn wla bthyn wybnwn lbza wbthyhwn ledy nksyhwn wyhwn
Their wealth will become a plunder, and their houses a desolation. Yes, they will build houses, but won’t inhabit them. They will plant vineyards, but won’t drink their wine.

קריב יומא דעתיד למיתי מן קדם יי רבא קריב ומוחי לחדא קל יומא דעתיד למיתי מן קדם יי די ביה מריר וצוח תמן גבריא מתקטלין:
mthqTlyn gbrya thmn wtswkh mryr byh dy yy qdm mn lmythy dethyd ywma ql lkhda wmwkhy qryb rba yy qdm mn lmythy dethyd ywma qryb
The great day of Yahweh is near. It is near and hurries greatly, the voice of the day of Yahweh. The mighty man cries there bitterly.

יומא תעבור יומא ההוא יום עקא ועיוק יום רגוש ואתרגושא חשוך וקבלא יום עננא ואמטתא:
wamTtha enna ywm wqbla khshwk wathrgwsha rgwsh ywm weywq eqa ywm hhwa ywma thebwr ywma
That day is a day of wrath, a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness,

יום שופרא ויבבא על קרויא כריכתא ועל רמתא מנטלתא:
mnTltha rmtha wel kryktha qrwya el wybba shwpra ywm
a day of the trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and against the high battlements.

ואעיק לבני אנשא ויהכון כסמן ארי קדם יי חבו וישתפך דמהון לעפרא ונבלתהון כסחיתא:
kskhytha wnblthhwn lepra dmhwn wyshthpk khbw yy qdm ary ksmn wyhkwn ansha lbny waeyq
I will bring such distress on men that they will walk like blind men because they have sinned against Yahweh. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their flesh like dung.

אף כספיהון אף דהבהון לא יוכל לשיזבותהון ביום רוגזא דיי ובאשא דפורענותיה יסופון כל רשיעי ארעא ארי גמירא ברם שיצאה יעביד עם כל יתבי ארעא:
area ythby kl em yebyd shytsah brm gmyra ary area rshyey kl yswpwn dpwrenwthyh wbasha dyy rwgza bywm lshyzbwthhwn ywkl la dhbhwn ap kspyhwn ap
Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to deliver them in the day of Yahweh’s wrath, but the whole land will be devoured by the fire of his jealousy; for he will make an end, yes, a terrible end, of all those who dwell in the land.
