ܘܗܘܐ ܒܫܢܬ ܐܪ̈ܒܥ ܕܕܪܝܘܫ ܡܠܟܐ ܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܙܟܪܝܐ ܒܐܪܒܥܬܐ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܕܬܫܥܐ ܕܗܘ ܟܢܘܢ
knwn dhw dthshe' byrkh' b'rbeth' zkry' el dmry' pthgmh hw' mlk' ddrywsh 'rbe bshnth whw'
In the fourth year of King Darius, Yahweh’s word came to Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev.

ܘܫܕܪ ܠܒܝܬ ܐܝܠ ܠܫܪܐܨܪ ܘܪܒܡܓ ܘܫܠܚ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܓܢܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ

The people of Bethel sent Sharezer and Regem Melech and their men to entreat Yahweh’s favor,

ܘܠܡܐܡܪ ܠܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܘܠܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܐܒܟܐ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܚܡܝܫܝܐ ܐܘ ܐܬܢܙܪ ܐܝܟ ܡܐ ܕܥܒܕ ܗܘܝܬ ܗܐ ܟܡܐ ܫܢ̈ܝܢ
shnyn km' h' hwyth debd m' 'yk 'thnzr 'w khmyshy' byrkh' 'bk' wlnby' khylthn' dmry' dbbythh lkhn' wlm'mr
and to speak to the priests of the house of Yahweh of Armies and to the prophets, saying, “Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?”

ܘܗܘܐ ܥܠܝ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

Then the word of Yahweh of Armies came to me, saying,

ܐܡܪ ܠܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܘܠܟܗ̈ܢܐ ܕܨܡܬܘܢ ܘܐܪܩܕܬܘܢ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܚܡܝܫܝܐ ܘܫܒܝܥܝܐ ܗܐ ܫܒܥܝܢ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ ܕܠܡܐ ܨܘܡܐ ܨܡܬܘܢ ܠܝ

“Speak to all the people of the land and to the priests, saying, ‘When you fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month for these seventy years, did you at all fast to me, really to me?

ܘܐܢ ܐܟܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܫܬܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܟܠܝܢ ܘܫܬܝܢ
wshthyn 'klyn 'nthwn hw' l' wshthyn 'nthwn 'klyn w'n
When you eat and when you drink, don’t you eat for yourselves and drink for yourselves?

ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܝܢ ܡ̈ܠܐ ܕܐܟܪܙ ܡܪܝܐ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܟܕ ܝܬܒܐ ܗܘܬ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܫܠܝܐ ܘܩܘܪ̈ܝܐ ܚܕܝܪ̈ܢ ܠܗ̇ ܘܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܦܩ̈ܥܬܐ ܝܬܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ
hww ythbyn wpqeth' wTwr' lh khdyrn wqwry' wshly' 'wrshlm hwth ythb' kd qdmy' dnby' b'yd' mry' d'krz ml' 'nyn hlyn
Aren’t these the words which Yahweh proclaimed by the former prophets when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and its cities around her, and the South and the lowland were inhabited?’”

ܘܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܙܟܪܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

Yahweh’s word came to Zechariah, saying,

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܩܘܫܬܐ ܕܘܢܘ ܘܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܘܪ̈ܚܡܐ ܥܒܕܘ ܐܢܫ ܥܡ ܐܚܘܗܝ
'khwhy em 'nsh ebdw wrkhm' wTybwth' dwnw dqwshth' dyn' khylthn' mry' 'mr hkn'
“Thus has Yahweh of Armies spoken, saying, ‘Execute true judgment, and show kindness and compassion every man to his brother.

ܘܠܐܪ̈ܡܠܬܐ ܘܠܝܬ̈ܡܐ ܘܠܡܣ̈ܟܢܐ ܘܠܕܡܬܦܢܐ ܠܘܬܝ ܠܐ ܬܥܠܒܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܛܠܡܘܢ ܘܒܝܫܬܐ ܓܒܪ ܥܠ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܬܬܚܫܒܘܢ ܒܠܒܟܘܢ

Don’t oppress the widow, the fatherless, the foreigner, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.’

ܘܠܐ ܨܒܘ ܠܡܫܡܥܢܝ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܟܬܦܗܘܢ ܡܪܘܕܬܐ ܘܐ̈ܕܢܝܗܘܢ ܣܟܪܘ ܕܠܐ ܢܫܡܥܘܢ

But they refused to listen, and turned their backs, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.

ܘܠܒܗܘܢ ܥܒܕܘ ܐܝܟ ܫܡܝܪܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܫܡܥܘܢ ܢܡܘ̈ܣܐ ܘܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܐ ܕܫܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܒܪܘܚܗ ܒܝܕ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܗܘܐ ܪܘܓܙܐ ܪܒܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ

Yes, they made their hearts as hard as flint, lest they might hear the law and the words which Yahweh of Armies had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets. Therefore great wrath came from Yahweh of Armies.

ܥܠ ܕܩܪܝܬ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܩܪܘܢܢܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܡܥ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ

It has come to pass that, as he called and they refused to listen, so they will call and I will not listen,” said Yahweh of Armies;

ܘܐܒܕܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܪܥܐ ܬܨܕܐ ܒܬܪܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܒܠܝ ܕܥܒܪ ܘܕܬܐܒ ܥܠ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܐܪܥܐ ܕܪܓܬܐ ܠܚܘܪܒܐ
lkhwrb' drgth' 're' debdw el wdth'b debr bly mn bthrhwn thtsd' w're' 'nwn ydew dl' emm' bklhwn 'nwn w'bdr
“but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations which they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned; for they made the pleasant land desolate.”
