ܒܝܪܚܐ ܕܬܡܢܝܐ ܒܚܕ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܒܫܢܬ ܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܕܕܪܝܘܫ ܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܙܟܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܒܪܟܝܐ ܒܪ ܥܕܘ ܢܒܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

ܪܓܙ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܪܘܓܙܐ

“Yahweh was very displeased with your fathers.

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܐܬܦܢܘ ܠܘܬܝ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܘܐܬܦܢܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ
khylthn' mry' 'mr elykwn w'thpn' khylthn' mry' 'mr lwthy 'thpnw khylthn' mry' 'mr hkn' lhwn 'mr
Therefore tell them, Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Return to me,’ says Yahweh of Armies, ‘and I will return to you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

ܘܠܐ ܬܗܘܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܕܐܟܪܙܘ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܩܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܐܬܦܢܘ ܡܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܟܘܢ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܥܒ̈ܕܝܟܘܢ ܒܝܫ̈ܐ ܘܠܐ ܫܡܥܘ ܘܠܐ ܨܬܘܢܝ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' 'mr tsthwny wl' shmew wl' bysh' ebdykwn wmn byshth' 'wrkhthkwn mn 'thpnw khylthn' mry' 'mr hkn' w'mrw qdmy' nby' elyhwn d'krzw 'bhykwn 'yk thhwwn wl'
Don’t you be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Yahweh of Armies says, ‘Return now from your evil ways and from your evil doings;’ but they didn’t hear nor listen to me, says Yahweh.

ܐܝܟܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܘܢܒܝ̈ܝ ܕܠܡܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܚܝ̈ܝܢ
khyyn lelm dlm' wnbyy 'bhykwn 'nwn 'yk'
Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?

ܠܦܬ̈ܓܡܝ ܕܝܢ ܘܠܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܝ ܕܦܩܕܬ ܠܥܒ̈ܕܝ ܢܒ̈ܝܐ ܐܬܕܟܪܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܬܪܥܝܘ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܬܪܥܝ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܠܢ ܐܝܟ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܢ ܘܐܝܟ ܨܢ̈ܥܬܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܠܢ

But my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, didn’t they overtake your fathers? “Then they repented and said, ‘Just as Yahweh of Armies determined to do to us, according to our ways and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.’”

ܒܝܘܡ ܐܪ̈ܒܥܐ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܒܝܪܚܐ ܕܚܕܥܣܪ̈ ܕܗܘ ܫܒܛ ܒܫܢܬ ܬܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܕܕܪܝܘܫ ܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܙܟܪܝܐ ܒܪ ܒܪܟܝܐ ܒܪ ܥܕܘ ܢܒܝܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ

On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

ܚܙܝܬ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܪܟܝܒ ܥܠ ܣܘܣܝܐ ܣܘܡܩܐ ܘܩܐܡ ܒܝܢܬ ܐ̈ܝܠܢܐ ܕܡ̈ܛܠܠܝܢ ܘܒܬܪܗ ܪ̈ܟܫܐ ܣܘ̈ܡܩܐ ܘܦܝ̈ܣܟܝܐ ܘܚܘܪ̈ܐ
wkhwr' wpysky' swmq' rksh' wbthrh dmTllyn 'yln' bynth wq'm swmq' swsy' el drkyb gbr' blly' khzyth
“I had a vision in the night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in a ravine; and behind him there were red, brown, and white horses.

ܘܐܡܪܬ ܡܢܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܪܝ ܥܢܐ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܒܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܐܢܐ ܐܚܘܝܟ ܡܢܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܗܠܝܢ
hlyn 'nwn mn' 'khwyk 'n' ly w'mr by dmmll ml'k' en' mry hlyn 'nwn mn' w'mrth
Then I asked, ‘My lord, what are these?’” The angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what these are.”

ܥܢܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܩܐܡ ܒܝܢܬ ܐܝ̈ܠܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܫܕܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܗܠܟܘ ܒܐܪܥܐ
b're' lmhlkw mry' dshdr 'nwn hlyn ly w'mr 'yln' bynth dq'm gbr' en'
The man who stood among the myrtle trees answered, “They are the ones Yahweh has sent to go back and forth through the earth.”

ܘܥܢܘ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܕܩܐܡ ܒܝܢܬ ܐܝ̈ܠܢܐ ܗܠܟܢ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܘܟܠܗ̇ ܐܪܥܐ ܝܬܒܐ ܘܫܠܝܐ

They reported to Yahweh’s angel who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked back and forth through the earth, and behold, all the earth is at rest and in peace.”

ܘܥܢܐ ܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܥܕ ܐܡܬܝ ܠܐ ܡܪܚܡ ܐܢܬ ܥܠ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܥܠ ܡܕܝܢ̈ܬܐ ܕܝܗܘܕܐ ܕܪܓܙܬ ܥܠܝܗܝܢ ܗܐ ܫܒܥܝܢ ܫܢܝ̈ܢ
shnyn shbeyn h' elyhyn drgzth dyhwd' mdynth' wel 'wrshlm el 'nth mrkhm l' 'mthy ed khylthn' mry' w'mr dmry' ml'kh wen'
Then Yahweh’s angel replied, “O Yahweh of Armies, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which you have had indignation these seventy years?”

ܘܥܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܡܠܐܟܐ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܒܝ ܡ̈ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ̈ܬܐ ܘܦܬ̈ܓܡܐ ܕܒܘܝܐܐ

Yahweh answered the angel who talked with me with kind and comforting words.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܒܝ ܐܟܪܙ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܛܢܬ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܒܨܗܝܘܢ ܛܢܢܐ ܪܒܐ
rb' Tnn' wbtshywn b'wrshlm Tnth khylthn' mry' 'mr hkn' w'mr 'krz by dmmll ml'k' ly w'mr
So the angel who talked with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

ܘܪܘܓܙܐ ܪܒܐ ܪܓܙ ܐܢܐ ܥܠ ܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܕܡܬܪܓܫܝܢ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܪܓܙܬ ܩܠܝܠ ܘܗܢܘܢ ܥܕܪܘ ܠܒܝܫܬܐ
lbyshth' edrw whnwn qlyl rgzth gyr 'n' dmthrgshyn emm' el 'n' rgz rb' wrwgz'
I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, but they added to the calamity.”

ܡܛܠ ܗܠܝܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܐܬܦܢܝܬ ܥܠ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܒܪܚܡܝܢ ܘܒܝܬܝ ܝܗܒ ܐܢܐ ܒܓܘܗ̇ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܘܫܘܝܬܐ ܬܬܡܬܚ ܥܠ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ
'wrshlm el ththmthkh wshwyth' khylthn' mry' 'mr bgwh 'n' yhb wbythy brkhmyn 'wrshlm el 'thpnyth khylthn' mry' 'mr hkn' hlyn mTl
Therefore Yahweh says: “I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house shall be built in it,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and a line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’

ܬܘܒ ܐܟܪܙ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܢܣܬܪ̈ܩܢ ܡܕܝܢ̈ܬܐ ܡܢ ܛܒ̈ܬܐ ܘܢܒܢܐ ܬܘܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܠܨܗܝܘܢ ܘܢܓܒܐ ܬܘܒ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ

“Proclaim further, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion, and will again choose Jerusalem.”’”
