בירחא תמינאה בשנת תרתין לדריוש הוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם זכריה בר ברכיה בר עדו נביא למימר:
lmymr nbya edw br brkyh br zkryh em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm hwh ldrywsh thrthyn bshnth thmynah byrkha
In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

הוה רגז מן קדם יי על אבהתכון על דארגיזו קדמוהי:
qdmwhy dargyzw el abhthkwn el yy qdm mn rgz hwh
“Yahweh was very displeased with your fathers.

ותימר להון כדנן אמר יי צבאות תובו לפולחני אמר יי צבאות ואתפני במימרי לאיטבא לכון אמר יי צבאות:
tsbawth yy amr lkwn layTba bmymry wathpny tsbawth yy amr lpwlkhny thwbw tsbawth yy amr kdnn lhwn wthymr
Therefore tell them, Yahweh of Armies says: ‘Return to me,’ says Yahweh of Armies, ‘and I will return to you,’ says Yahweh of Armies.

לא תהון כאבהתכון דיתנבון להון נבייא קדמאי למימר כדנן אמר יי צבאות תובו כען מאורחתכון בישתא ומעובדיכון מקלקליא ולא קבילו ולא אציתו למימרי אמר יי:
yy amr lmymry atsythw wla qbylw wla mqlqlya wmewbdykwn byshtha mawrkhthkwn ken thwbw tsbawth yy amr kdnn lmymr qdmay nbyya lhwn dythnbwn kabhthkwn thhwn la
Don’t you be like your fathers, to whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Yahweh of Armies says, ‘Return now from your evil ways and from your evil doings;’ but they didn’t hear nor listen to me, says Yahweh.

אבהתכון אן אינון ואם תימרון נבייא לא לעלמין קימין:
qymyn lelmyn la nbyya thymrwn wam aynwn an abhthkwn
Your fathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?

ברם פתגמי וקימי די פקדת ית עבדי נבייא הלא אדביקו אבהתכון ותבו ואמרו כמא דחשיב יי צבאות למעבד לנא כאורחנא וכעובדנא כן עבד עמנא:
emna ebd kn wkewbdna kawrkhna lna lmebd tsbawth yy dkhshyb kma wamrw wthbw abhthkwn adbyqw hla nbyya ebdy yth pqdth dy wqymy pthgmy brm
But my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, didn’t they overtake your fathers? “Then they repented and said, ‘Just as Yahweh of Armies determined to do to us, according to our ways and according to our practices, so he has dealt with us.’”

ביום עשרין וארבעה לחד עשר ירחא הוא ירחא שבט בשנת תרתין לדריוש הוה פתגם נבואה מן קדם יי עם זכריה בר ברכיהו בר עדוא נביא למימר:
lmymr nbya edwa br brkyhw br zkryh em yy qdm mn nbwah pthgm hwh ldrywsh thrthyn bshnth shbT yrkha hwa yrkha eshr lkhd warbeh eshryn bywm
On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, Yahweh’s word came to the prophet Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, saying,

חזיתי בליליא והא גבר רכיב על סוסי סמוק והוא קאים בין אילניא דהדסיא די בבבל ובתרוהי סוסון סומקין קוחין וחורין:
wkhwryn qwkhyn swmqyn swswn wbthrwhy bbbl dy dhdsya aylnya byn qaym whwa smwq swsy el rkyb gbr wha blylya khzythy
“I had a vision in the night, and behold, a man riding on a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were in a ravine; and behind him there were red, brown, and white horses.

ואמרית מן אלין רבוני ואמר לי מלאכא די מליל עמי אנא אחזינך מה אינון אלין:
alyn aynwn mh akhzynk ana emy mlyl dy mlaka ly wamr rbwny alyn mn wamryth
Then I asked, ‘My lord, what are these?’” The angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what these are.”

ואתיב גברא דקאים בין אילני הדסיא ואמר אלין די שלח יי להלכא בארעא:
barea lhlka yy shlkh dy alyn wamr hdsya aylny byn dqaym gbra wathyb
The man who stood among the myrtle trees answered, “They are the ones Yahweh has sent to go back and forth through the earth.”

ואתיבו ית מלאכא דיי דקאים בין אילני הדסיא ואמרו הלכנא בארעא והא כל ארעא יתבא שליוא ושקיטא:
wshqyTa shlywa ythba area kl wha barea hlkna wamrw hdsya aylny byn dqaym dyy mlaka yth wathybw
They reported to Yahweh’s angel who stood among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have walked back and forth through the earth, and behold, all the earth is at rest and in peace.”

ואתיב מלאכא דיי ואמר יי צבאות עד אימתי את לא תרחם על ירושלם ועל קרויא דבית יהודה דאיתיתא עליהון לוט דנן שבעין שנין:
shnyn shbeyn dnn lwT elyhwn daythytha yhwdh dbyth qrwya wel yrwshlm el thrkhm la ath aymthy ed tsbawth yy wamr dyy mlaka wathyb
Then Yahweh’s angel replied, “O Yahweh of Armies, how long will you not have mercy on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which you have had indignation these seventy years?”

ואתיב יי ית מלאכא די מליל עמי פתגמין תקנין פתגמין דניחומין:
dnykhwmyn pthgmyn thqnyn pthgmyn emy mlyl dy mlaka yth yy wathyb
Yahweh answered the angel who talked with me with kind and comforting words.

ואמר לי מלאכא די מליל עמי אתנבי למימר כדנן אמר יי צבאות מתפרע אנא פורענות ירושלם ולציון קנאה רבא:
rba qnah wltsywn yrwshlm pwrenwth ana mthpre tsbawth yy amr kdnn lmymr athnby emy mlyl dy mlaka ly wamr
So the angel who talked with me said to me, “Proclaim, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.

ורגז רב אנא רגיז על עממיא דשרן שליוא די אנא רגזית על עמי זעיר ואינון מסיעין לאבאשא:
labasha msyeyn waynwn zeyr emy el rgzyth ana dy shlywa dshrn emmya el rgyz ana rb wrgz
I am very angry with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, but they added to the calamity.”

בכן כדנן אמר יי אתוב לירושלם ברחמין בית מקדשי יתבני בה אמר יי צבאות וחוט דמשחתא יתנגד על בנין כתלי ירושלם:
yrwshlm kthly bnyn el ythngd dmshkhtha wkhwT tsbawth yy amr bh ythbny mqdshy byth brkhmyn lyrwshlm athwb yy amr kdnn bkn
Therefore Yahweh says: “I have returned to Jerusalem with mercy. My house shall be built in it,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and a line shall be stretched out over Jerusalem.”’

עוד אתנבי למימר כדנן אמר יי צבאות עוד יתמלין קרוי עמי טובא וינחם יי עוד ית ציון ויתרעי עוד בירושלם:
byrwshlm ewd wythrey tsywn yth ewd yy wynkhm Twba emy qrwy ythmlyn ewd tsbawth yy amr kdnn lmymr athnby ewd
“Proclaim further, saying, ‘Yahweh of Armies says: “My cities will again overflow with prosperity, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion, and will again choose Jerusalem.”’”
