ܩܘܫܬܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܒܡܫܝܚܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܕܓܠ ܐܢܐ ܘܪܥܝܢܝ ܡܣܗܕ ܥܠܝ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ
dqwdsh' brwkh' ely mshd wreyny 'n' mdgl wl' bmshykh' 'n' 'mr qwshth'
I tell the truth in Christ. I am not lying, my conscience testifying with me in the Holy Spirit,

ܕܟܪܝܘܬܐ ܗܝ ܠܝ ܪܒܬܐ ܘܟܐܒܐ ܕܡܢ ܠܒܝ ܠܐ ܫܠܐ
shl' l' lby dmn wk'b' rbth' ly hy dkrywth'
that I have great sorrow and unceasing pain in my heart.

ܡܨܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܢܐ ܩܢܘܡܝ ܚܪܡܐ ܐܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܚܠܦ ܐܚܝ ܘܐܚܝܢܝ ܕܒܒܣܪ
dbbsr w'khyny 'khy khlp mshykh' mn 'hw' khrm' qnwmy d'n' gyr hwyth mtsl'
For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brothers’ sake, my relatives according to the flesh,

ܕܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܕܝܠܗܘܢ ܗܘܬ ܣܝܡܬ ܒܢܝܐ ܘܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܘܩܝܡܐ ܘܢܡܘܣܐ ܘܬܫܡܫܬܐ ܕܒܗ ܘܡܘܠܟܢܐ
wmwlkn' dbh wthshmshth' wnmws' wqym' wthshbwkhth' bny' symth hwth ddylhwn 'ysryl bny d'ythyhwn
who are Israelites; whose is the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service, and the promises;

ܘܐܒܗܬܐ ܘܡܢܗܘܢ ܐܬܚܙܝ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܒܒܣܪ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܥܠ ܟܠ ܕܠܗ ܬܫܒܚܢ ܘܒܘܪܟܢ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ
'myn elmyn lelm wbwrkn thshbkhn dlh kl del 'lh' d'ythwhy bbsr mshykh' 'thkhzy wmnhwn w'bhth'
of whom are the fathers, and from whom is Christ as concerning the flesh, who is over all, God, blessed forever. Amen.

ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܦܠ ܢܦܠܬ ܡܠܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl 'ythyhwn 'ysryl dmn klhwn gyr hw' l' d'lh' mlthh nplth mpl dyn hw' l'
But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel.

ܐܦܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܢ ܙܪܥܗ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܬܐܡܪ ܕܒܐܝܣܚܩ ܢܬܩܪܐ ܠܟ ܙܪܥܐ
zre' lk nthqr' db'yskhq d'th'mr mTl bny' klhwn d'brhm 'nwn zreh dmn mTl 'pl'
Neither, because they are Abraham’s offspring, are they all children. But, “your offspring will be accounted as from Isaac.”

ܗܢܘ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܢܝܐ ܕܒܣܪܐ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܒܢܝܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܢܝܐ ܕܡܘܠܟܢܐ ܡܬܚܫܒܝܢ ܠܙܪܥܐ
lzre' mthkhshbyn dmwlkn' bny' 'l' d'lh' bny' 'ythyhwn dbsr' bny' hw' l' dyn hnw
That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as heirs.

ܕܡܘܠܟܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܒܙܒܢܐ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܐ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܒܪܐ ܠܣܪܐ
lsr' br' wnhw' 'th' hn' dbzbn' hd' mlth' 'ythyh gyr dmwlkn'
For this is a word of promise, “At the appointed time I will come, and Sarah will have a son.”

ܘܠܘ ܗܕܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܪܦܩܐ ܟܕ ܥܡ ܚܕ ܐܒܘܢ ܐܝܣܚܩ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ

Not only so, but Rebekah also conceived by one, by our father Isaac.

ܥܕܠܐ ܢܬܝܠܕܘܢ ܒܢܝܗ ܘܠܐ ܢܣܥܪܘܢ ܛܒܬܐ ܐܘ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܩܕܡܬ ܐܬܝܕܥܬ ܓܒܝܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܕܗܝ ܬܩܘܐ ܠܐ ܒܥܒܕܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܝܕ ܡܢ ܕܩܪܐ
dqr' mn byd 'l' bebd' l' thqw' dhy d'lh' gbywthh 'thydeth qdmth byshth' 'w Tbth' nserwn wl' bnyh nthyldwn edl'
For being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him who calls,

ܐܬܐܡܪ ܓܝܪ ܕܩܫܝܫܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܠܙܥܘܪܐ
lzewr' ebd' nhw' dqshysh' gyr 'th'mr
it was said to her, “The elder will serve the younger.”

ܐܝܟ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܕܠܝܥܩܘܒ ܪܚܡܬ ܘܠܥܣܘ ܣܢܝܬ
snyth wlesw rkhmth dlyeqwb dkthyb 'yk
Even as it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

ܡܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܢܐܡܪ ܕܠܡܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܣ
khs 'lh' lwth 'yth ewl' dlm' n'mr hkyl mn'
What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? May it never be!

ܗܐ ܐܦ ܠܡܘܫܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܪܚܡ ܥܠ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܪܚܡ ܐܢܐ ܘܐܚܘܢ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܚܐܢ ܐܢܐ
'n' dkh'n l'yn' w'khwn 'n' dmrkhm 'yn' el 'rkhm 'mr lmwsh' 'p h'
For he said to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

ܠܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܒܐܝܕܝ ܡܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܘܠܐ ܒܐܝܕܝ ܡܢ ܕܪܗܛ ܐܠܐ ܒܐܝܕܝ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܪܚܡܢܐ
mrkhmn' 'lh' b'ydy 'l' drhT mn b'ydy wl' dtsb' mn b'ydy hkyl l'
So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who has mercy.

ܐܡܪ ܓܝܪ ܒܟܬܒܐ ܠܦܪܥܘܢ ܕܠܗ ܠܗܕܐ ܐܩܝܡܬܟ ܕܐܚܘܐ ܒܟ ܚܝܠܝ ܘܕܢܬܟܪܙ ܫܡܝ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܟܠܗ

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, “For this very purpose I caused you to be raised up, that I might show in you my power, and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

ܡܕܝܢ ܥܠ ܡܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܗܘ ܡܪܚܡ ܘܥܠ ܡܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܡܩܫܐ
mqsh' dtsb' mn wel mrkhm hw dtsb' mn el mdyn
So then, he has mercy on whom he desires, and he hardens whom he desires.

ܘܟܒܪ ܬܐܡܪ ܕܠܡܢܐ ܪܫܐ ܡܢܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܢܩܘܡ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܨܒܝܢܗ
tsbynh lwqbl dnqwm gyr mnw rsh' dlmn' th'mr wkbr
You will say then to me, “Why does he still find fault? For who withstands his will?”

ܐܢܬ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܢ ܐܢܬ ܐܘ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܦܬܓܡܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܝܗܒ ܐܢܬ ܕܠܡܐ ܐܡܪܐ ܓܒܝܠܬܐ ܠܡܢ ܕܓܒܠܗ ܕܠܡܢܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܓܒܠܬܢܝ
gblthny hkn' dlmn' dgblh lmn gbylth' 'mr' dlm' 'nth yhb l'lh' dpthgm' brnsh' 'w 'nth mn hkyl 'nth
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed ask him who formed it, “Why did you make me like this?”

ܐܘ ܠܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܦܚܪܐ ܥܠ ܛܝܢܗ ܕܡܢܗ ܡܢ ܓܒܝܠܬܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܡܐܢܐ ܚܕ ܠܐܝܩܪܐ ܘܚܕ ܠܨܥܪܐ
ltser' wkhd l'yqr' khd m'n' nebd gbylth' mn dmnh Tynh el pkhr' shlyT l' 'w
Or hasn’t the potter a right over the clay, from the same lump to make one part a vessel for honor, and another for dishonor?

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܨܒܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܚܘܐ ܪܘܓܙܗ ܘܢܘܕܥ ܚܝܠܗ ܐܝܬܝ ܒܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܡܓܪܬ ܪܘܚܗ ܪܘܓܙܐ ܥܠ ܡܐܢܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܐ ܕܓܡܝܪܝܢ ܠܐܒܕܢܐ
l'bdn' dgmyryn drwgz' m'n' el rwgz' rwkhh dmgrth bswg'' 'ythy khylh wnwde rwgzh dnkhw' 'lh' tsb' dyn 'n
What if God, willing to show his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,

ܘܐܫܦܥ ܪܚܡܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܡܐܢܐ ܕܪܚܡܐ ܕܡܛܝܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܠܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ
lthshbwkhth' l'lh' hww dmTybyn drkhm' m'n' el rkhmwhy w'shpe
and that he might make known the riches of his glory on vessels of mercy, which he prepared beforehand for glory,

ܕܐܝܬܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܩܪܝܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܡܢ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܡܢ ܥܡܡܐ
emm' mn 'p 'l' yhwdy' mn blkhwd hw' l' qry' khnn d'ythyn
us, whom he also called, not from the Jews only, but also from the Gentiles?

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܒܗܘܫܥ ܐܡܪ ܕܐܩܪܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܘ ܥܡܝ ܥܡܐ ܕܝܠܝ ܘܠܠܐ ܐܬܪܚܡܬ ܐܬܪܚܡܬ
'thrkhmth 'thrkhmth wll' dyly em' emy hww dl' l'ylyn d'qr' 'mr bhwshe d'p 'ykn'
As he says also in Hosea, “I will call them ‘my people,’ which were not my people; and her ‘beloved,’ who was not beloved.”

ܢܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܕܘܟܬܐ ܟܪ ܕܡܬܩܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܐ ܥܡܝ ܬܡܢ ܢܬܩܪܘܢ ܒܢܝܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܐ
khy' l'lh' bny' nthqrwn thmn emy l' hww dmthqryn kr bdwkth' gyr nhw'
“It will be that in the place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people,’ There they will be called ‘children of the living God.’”

ܐܫܥܝܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܟܪܙ ܥܠ ܒܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܐܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܢܝܢܐ ܕܒܢܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܐܝܟ ܚܠܐ ܕܒܝܡܐ ܫܪܟܢܐ ܕܡܢܗܘܢ ܢܚܐ
nkh' dmnhwn shrkn' dbym' khl' 'yk 'ysryl dbny mnyn' nhw' d'n 'ysryl bny el 'krz dyn 'shey'
Isaiah cries concerning Israel, “If the number of the children of Israel are as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant who will be saved;

ܡܠܬܐ ܓܪܡ ܘܦܣܩ ܘܢܥܒܕܝܗ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ
're' el mry' wnebdyh wpsq grm mlth'
for He will finish the work and cut it short in righteousness, because the LORD will make a short work upon the earth.”

ܘܐܝܟ ܡܕܡ ܕܩܕܡ ܐܡܪ ܗܘ ܐܫܥܝܐ ܕܐܠܘ ܠܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܨܒܐܘܬ ܐܘܬܪ ܠܢ ܣܪܝܕܐ ܐܝܟ ܣܕܘܡ ܗܘܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ ܘܠܥܡܘܪܐ ܡܬܕܡܝܢ ܗܘܝܢ
hwyn mthdmyn wlemwr' hwyn hwyn sdwm 'yk sryd' ln 'wthr tsb'wth mry' l' d'lw 'shey' hw 'mr dqdm mdm w'yk
As Isaiah has said before, “Unless the Lord of Armies had left us a seed, we would have become like Sodom, and would have been made like Gomorrah.”

ܡܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܢܐܡܪ ܕܥܡܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܪܗܛܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܬܪ ܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܐܕܪܟܘ ܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܗܝ
hy hymnwth' dmn 'yd' dyn k'nwth' k'nwth' 'drkw k'nwth' bthr hww rhTyn dl' demm' n'mr hkyl mn'
What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, who didn’t follow after righteousness, attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith;

ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܕܝܢ ܕܪܗܛ ܗܘܐ ܒܬܪ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܠܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܐܕܪܟ
'drk l' dk'nwth' lnmws' dk'nwth' nmws' bthr hw' drhT dyn 'ysryl
but Israel, following after a law of righteousness, didn’t arrive at the law of righteousness.

ܡܛܠ ܡܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܡܢ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܐܬܬܩܠܘ ܓܝܪ ܒܟܐܦܐ ܕܬܘܩܠܬܐ
dthwqlth' bk'p' gyr 'ththqlw dnmws' ebdwhy mn 'l' hymnwth' mn hw' dl' mTl mn' mTl
Why? Because they didn’t seek it by faith, but as it were by works of the law. They stumbled over the stumbling stone;

ܐܝܟ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܕܗܐ ܣܐܡ ܐܢܐ ܒܨܗܝܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܕܬܘܩܠܬܐ ܘܟܐܦܐ ܕܡܟܫܘܠܐ ܘܡܢ ܕܒܗ ܢܗܝܡܢ ܠܐ ܢܒܗܬ
nbhth l' nhymn dbh wmn dmkshwl' wk'p' dthwqlth' k'p' btshywn 'n' s'm dh' dkthyb 'yk
even as it is written, “Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and a rock of offense; and no one who believes in him will be disappointed.”
