ܐܘ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܚܝ ܠܝܕܥܝ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܡܠܠ ܐܢܐ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܗܘ ܥܠ ܓܒܪܐ ܟܡܐ ܕܚܝ
'w l' ydeyn 'nthwn 'khy lydey nmws' gyr mmll 'n' dnmws' shlyT hw el gbr' km' dkhy
Or don’t you know, brothers (for I speak to men who know the law), that the law has dominion over a man for as long as he lives?

ܐܝܟ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܕܐܣܝܪܐ ܗܝ ܒܒܥܠܗ ܟܡܐ ܕܚܝ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܝܬ ܒܥܠܗ ܐܬܚܪܪܬ ܡܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܒܥܠܗ

For the woman that has a husband is bound by law to the husband while he lives, but if the husband dies, she is discharged from the law of the husband.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܚܝ ܒܥܠܗ ܬܩܦ ܠܓܒܪ ܐܚܪܝܢ ܗܘܬ ܠܗ ܓܝܪܬܐ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܢܡܘܬ ܒܥܠܗ ܐܬܚܪܪܬ ܡܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܓܝܪܬܐ ܐܢ ܬܗܘܐ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ
'n dyn kd khy belh thqp lgbr 'khryn hwth lh gyrth' 'n dyn nmwth belh 'thkhrrth mn nmws' wl' 'ythyh gyrth' 'n thhw' lgbr' 'khrn'
So then if, while the husband lives, she is joined to another man, she would be called an adulteress. But if the husband dies, she is free from the law, so that she is no adulteress, though she is joined to another man.

ܘܗܫܐ ܐܚܝ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܝܬܬܘܢ ܠܢܡܘܣܐ ܒܦܓܪܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܬܗܘܘܢ ܠܐܚܪܝܢ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܩܡ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܡܝܬܐ ܕܬܬܠܘܢ ܦܐܪܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ
whsh' 'khy 'p 'nthwn myththwn lnmws' bpgrh dmshykh' dthhwwn l'khryn 'yn' dqm mn byth myth' dththlwn p'r' l'lh'
Therefore, my brothers, you also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you would be joined to another, to him who was raised from the dead, that we might produce fruit to God.

ܟܕ ܒܒܣܪܐ ܗܘܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܟܐܒܐ ܕܚܛܗܐ ܕܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܡܬܚܦܛܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܗܕܡܝܢ ܕܦܐܪܐ ܢܬܠ ܠܡܘܬܐ

For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were through the law, worked in our members to bring out fruit to death.

ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܒܛܠܢ ܡܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܘܡܝܬܢ ܠܗܘ ܕܐܚܝܕ ܗܘܐ ܠܢ ܕܢܫܡܫ ܡܟܝܠ ܒܚܕܬܘܬܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܘܠܐ ܒܥܬܝܩܘܬ ܟܬܒܐ
hsh' dyn 'thbTln mn nmws' wmythn lhw d'khyd hw' ln dnshmsh mkyl bkhdthwth' drwkh' wl' bethyqwth kthb'
But now we have been discharged from the law, having died to that in which we were held; so that we serve in newness of the spirit, and not in oldness of the letter.

ܡܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܡܪܝܢܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܗܘ ܚܣ ܐܠܐ ܠܚܛܝܬܐ ܠܐ ܝܠܦܬ ܐܠܐ ܒܝܕ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܪܓܬܐ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܝܬ ܐܠܘ ܠܐ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܕܠܐ ܬܪܓ
mn' hkyl 'mrynn nmws' khTyth' hw khs 'l' lkhTyth' l' ylpth 'l' byd nmws' l' gyr rgth' yde hwyth 'lw l' nmws' d'mr dl' thrg
What shall we say then? Is the law sin? May it never be! However, I wouldn’t have known sin, except through the law. For I wouldn’t have known coveting, unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.”

ܘܒܗܢܐ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܐܫܟܚܬ ܠܗ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܥܠܬܐ ܘܓܡܪܬ ܒܝ ܟܠ ܪܓܐ ܒܠܥܕ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܓܝܪ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܗܘܬ
wbhn' pwqdn' 'shkkhth lh khTyth' elth' wgmrth by kl rg' bled nmws' gyr khTyth' myth' hwth
But sin, finding occasion through the commandment, produced in me all kinds of coveting. For apart from the law, sin is dead.

ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܚܝ ܗܘܝܬ ܕܠܐ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܝܡ ܟܕ ܐܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܚܝܬ ܘܐܢܐ ܡܝܬܬ
'n' dyn khy hwyth dl' nmws' mn qdym kd 'th' dyn pwqdn' khTyth' khyth w'n' mythth
I was alive apart from the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

ܘܐܫܬܟܚ ܠܝ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܗܘ ܕܚܝܐ ܠܡܘܬܐ
w'shthkkh ly pwqdn' hw dkhy' lmwth'
The commandment, which was for life, this I found to be for death;

ܚܛܝܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܥܠܬܐ ܕܐܫܟܚܬ ܠܗ ܒܝܕ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܐܛܥܝܬܢܝ ܘܒܗ ܩܛܠܬܢܝ
khTyth' gyr belth' d'shkkhth lh byd pwqdn' 'Teythny wbh qTlthny
for sin, finding occasion through the commandment, deceived me, and through it killed me.

ܢܡܘܣܐ ܡܕܝܢ ܩܕܝܫ ܗܘ ܘܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܩܕܝܫ ܗܘ ܘܟܐܝܢ ܘܛܒ
nmws' mdyn qdysh hw wpwqdn' qdysh hw wk'yn wTb
Therefore the law indeed is holy, and the commandment holy, and righteous, and good.

ܛܒܬܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܠܝ ܠܡܘܬܐ ܗܘ ܗܘܬ ܚܣ ܐܠܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܕܬܬܚܙܐ ܕܚܛܝܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܒܛܒܬܐ ܓܡܪܬ ܒܝ ܡܘܬܐ ܕܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܬܬܚܝܒ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܒܦܘܩܕܢܐ
Tbth' hkyl ly lmwth' hw hwth khs 'l' khTyth' dththkhz' dkhTyth' hy dbTbth' gmrth by mwth' dythyr'yth ththkhyb khTyth' bpwqdn'
Did then that which is good become death to me? May it never be! But sin, that it might be shown to be sin, was producing death in me through that which is good; that through the commandment sin might become exceedingly sinful.

ܝܕܥܝܢܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܪܘܚ ܗܘ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܒܣܪ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܙܒܢ ܐܢܐ ܠܚܛܝܬܐ
ydeynn gyr dnmws' drwkh hw 'n' dyn dbsr 'n' wmzbn 'n' lkhTyth'
For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am fleshly, sold under sin.

ܡܕܡ ܕܣܥܪ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܣܢܐ ܐܢܐ ܗܘ ܗܘ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ

For I don’t know what I am doing. For I don’t practice what I desire to do; but what I hate, that I do.

ܘܐܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܣܗܕ ܐܢܐ ܥܠ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܗܘ

But if what I don’t desire, that I do, I consent to the law that it is good.

ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܐ ܣܥܪ ܐܢܐ ܗܕܐ ܐܠܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܕܥܡܪܐ ܒܝ

So now it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me.

ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܠܐ ܥܡܪܐ ܒܝ ܗܢܘ ܕܝܢ ܒܒܣܪܝ ܛܒܬܐ ܕܐܨܒܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܛܒܬܐ ܦܫܝܩ ܠܝ ܕܐܣܥܪܝܗ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ

For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good thing. For desire is present with me, but I don’t find it doing that which is good.

ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܛܒܬܐ ܕܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܥܒܕ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܥܒܕ ܠܗ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ
l' hw' gyr lTbth' dtsb' 'n' d'ebd ebd 'n' 'l' byshth' dl' tsb' 'n' d'ebd lh ebd 'n'
For the good which I desire, I don’t do; but the evil which I don’t desire, that I practice.

ܘܐܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܕܥܡܪܐ ܒܝ

But if what I don’t desire, that I do, it is no more I that do it, but sin which dwells in me.

ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܠܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܫܠܡ ܠܪܥܝܢܝ ܗܘ ܕܨܒܐ ܕܢܥܒܕ ܛܒܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܝܫܬܐ ܩܪܝܒܐ ܗܝ ܠܝ
mshkkh 'n' hkyl lnmws' dshlm lreyny hw dtsb' dnebd Tbth' mTl dbyshth' qryb' hy ly
I find then the law, that, to me, while I desire to do good, evil is present.

ܚܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܢܡܘܣܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܒܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܠܓܘ

For I delight in God’s law after the inward man,

ܚܙܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܒܗܕܡܝ ܕܡܩܪܒ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܪܥܝܢܝ ܘܫܒܐ ܠܝ ܠܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܚܛܝܬܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܒܗܕܡܝ
khz' 'n' dyn nmws' 'khrn' bhdmy dmqrb lwqbl nmws' dreyny wshb' ly lnmws' dkhTyth' d'yth bhdmy
but I see a different law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity under the law of sin which is in my members.

ܕܘܝܐ ܐܢܐ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܡܢܘ ܢܦܨܝܢܝ ܡܢ ܦܓܪܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ

What a wretched man I am! Who will deliver me out of the body of this death?

ܡܘܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܒܝܕ ܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܗܫܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܢܐ ܒܪܥܝܢܝ ܥܒܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܒܒܣܪܝ ܕܝܢ ܐܝܬܝ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܚܛܝܬܐ
mwd' 'n' l'lh' byd mrn yshwe mshykh' hsh' hkyl 'n' breyny ebd' 'n' dnmws' d'lh' bbsry dyn 'ythy ebd' dnmws' dkhTyth'
I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord! So then with the mind, I myself serve God’s law, but with the flesh, the sin’s law.
