ܡܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܡܪܝܢܢ ܥܠ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܪܫܐ ܕܐܒܗܬܐ ܕܐܫܟܚ ܒܒܣܪ
bbsr d'shkkh d'bhth' rsh' 'brhm el 'mrynn hkyl mn'
What then will we say that Abraham, our forefather, has found according to the flesh?

ܐܠܘ ܓܝܪ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܡܢ ܥܒܕܐ ܐܙܕܕܩ ܗܘܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܫܘܒܗܪܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ
'lh' lwth l' 'l' shwbhr' lh hw' 'yth hw' 'zddq ebd' mn 'brhm gyr 'lw
For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not toward God.

ܡܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܡܪ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܗܝܡܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܐܬܚܫܒܬ ܠܗ ܠܙܕܝܩܘ
lzdyqw lh w'thkhshbth l'lh' 'brhm dhymn kthb' 'mr gyr mn'
For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”

ܠܡܢ ܕܦܠܚ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܡܬܚܫܒ ܠܗ ܐܓܪܗ ܐܝܟ ܕܒܛܝܒܘ ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܡܢ ܕܡܬܬܚܝܒ ܠܗ
lh dmththkhyb mn 'yk 'l' dbTybw 'yk 'grh lh mthkhshb l' dyn dplkh lmn
Now to him who works, the reward is not counted as grace, but as something owed.

ܠܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܦܠܚ ܐܠܐ ܗܝܡܢ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܒܡܢ ܕܡܙܕܩ ܠܚܛܝܐ ܡܬܚܫܒܐ ܠܗ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ ܠܟܐܢܘ
lk'nw hymnwthh lh mthkhshb' lkhTy' dmzdq bmn blkhwd hymn 'l' plkh dl' dyn lhw
But to him who doesn’t work, but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness.

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܕܘܝܕ ܐܡܪ ܥܠ ܛܘܒܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܚܫܒ ܠܗ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܟܕ ܐܡܪ
'mr kd ebd' dl' zdyqwth' lh khshb d'lh' 'yn' dgbr' Twbh el 'mr dwyd d'p 'ykn'
Even as David also pronounces blessing on the man to whom God counts righteousness apart from works,

ܕܛܘܒܝܗܘܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܫܬܒܩ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܘܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܬܟܣܝܘ ܚܛܗܝܗܘܢ
khThyhwn w'thksyw ewlhwn lhwn d'shthbq l'ylyn dTwbyhwn
“Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven,
whose sins are covered.

ܘܛܘܒܘܗܝ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܚܫܘܒ ܠܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܛܝܬܗ
khTythh 'lh' lh nkhshwb dl' lgbr' wTwbwhy
Blessed is the man whom the Lord will by no means charge with sin.”

ܗܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܛܘܒܐ ܥܠ ܓܙܘܪܬܐ ܗܘ ܐܘ ܥܠ ܥܘܪܠܘܬܐ ܐܡܪܝܢܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܬܚܫܒܬ ܠܐܒܪܗܡ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ ܠܟܐܢܘ
lk'nw hymnwthh l'brhm d'thkhshbth gyr 'mrynn ewrlwth' el 'w hw gzwrth' el Twb' hkyl hn'
Is this blessing then pronounced on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say that faith was accounted to Abraham for righteousness.

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܬܚܫܒܬ ܠܗ ܒܓܙܘܪܬܐ ܐܘ ܒܥܘܪܠܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܓܙܘܪܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܥܘܪܠܘܬܐ
bewrlwth' 'l' bgzwrth' hw' l' bewrlwth' 'w bgzwrth' lh 'thkhshbth hkyl 'ykn'
How then was it counted? When he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.

ܐܬܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܫܩܠܗ ܠܓܙܘܪܬܐ ܘܚܬܡܐ ܕܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ ܕܒܥܘܪܠܘܬܐ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܐܒܐ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܗܝܡܢܝܢ ܡܢ ܥܘܪܠܘܬܐ ܕܬܬܚܫܒ ܐܦ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܟܐܢܘ
lk'nw lhwn 'p dththkhshb ewrlwth' mn dmhymnyn 'ylyn lklhwn 'b' dnhw' dbewrlwth' dhymnwthh dk'nwth' wkhthm' lgzwrth' shqlh gyr hw 'th'
He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they might be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be accounted to them.

ܘܐܒܐ ܠܓܙܘܪܬܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܢ ܓܙܘܪܬܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܠܡܝܢ ܠܥܩܒܬܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܥܘܪܠܘܬܐ ܕܐܒܘܢ ܐܒܪܗܡ
'brhm d'bwn dewrlwth' dhymnwth' leqbth' dshlmyn l'ylyn 'p 'l' blkhwd 'nwn gzwrth' dmn l'ylyn hw' l' lgzwrth' w'b'
He is the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܘܠܟܢܐ ܠܐܒܪܗܡ ܘܠܙܪܥܗ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܝܪܬܐ ܠܥܠܡܐ ܐܠܐ ܒܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ
dhymnwthh bk'nwth' 'l' lelm' yrth' dnhw' wlzreh l'brhm mwlkn' hw' bnmws' gyr hw' l'
For the promise to Abraham and to his offspring that he should be heir of the world wasn’t through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.

ܐܠܘ ܓܝܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܡܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܗܘܘ ܝܪܬܐ ܣܪܝܩܐ ܗܘܬ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܡܒܛܠ ܗܘܐ ܡܘܠܟܢܐ
mwlkn' hw' wmbTl hymnwth' hwth sryq' yrth' hww nmws' dmn hlyn gyr 'lw
For if those who are of the law are heirs, faith is made void, and the promise is made of no effect.

ܢܡܘܣܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܥܒܕܢܐ ܗܘ ܕܪܘܓܙܐ ܟܪ ܕܠܝܬ ܓܝܪ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܐܦܠܐ ܥܒܪ ܢܡܘܣܐ
nmws' ebr 'pl' nmws' gyr dlyth kr drwgz' hw mebdn' gyr nmws'
For the law produces wrath, for where there is no law, neither is there disobedience.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܒܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܢܙܕܕܩ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܫܪܝܪ ܡܘܠܟܢܐ ܠܟܠܗ ܙܪܥܗ ܠܐ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܢ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܗܘ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܐܒܐ ܕܟܠܢ
dkln 'b' d'ythwhy d'brhm hw hymnwth' dmn l'yn' 'p 'l' blkhwd hw nmws' dmn l'yn' l' zreh lklh mwlkn' shryr wnhw' nzddq dbTybwth' bhymnwth' hn' mTl
For this cause it is of faith, that it may be according to grace, to the end that the promise may be sure to all the offspring, not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܕܣܡܬܟ ܐܒܐ ܠܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܥܡܡܐ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܗܘ ܕܗܝܡܢܬ ܒܗ ܕܡܚܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܘܩܪܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ
'ythyhwn 'yk 'ythyhwn dl' l'ylyn wqr' myth' dmkh' bh dhymnth hw 'lh' qdm demm' lswg'' 'b' dsmthk dkthyb 'ykn'
As it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations.” This is in the presence of him whom he believed: God, who gives life to the dead, and calls the things that are not, as though they were.

ܘܕܠܐ ܣܒܪܐ ܠܣܒܪܐ ܗܝܡܢ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܐܒܐ ܠܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܥܡܡܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܙܪܥܟ
zrek nhw' dhkn' dkthyb 'yk demm' lswg'' 'b' dnhw' hymn lsbr' sbr' wdl'
Besides hope, Abraham in hope believed, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, “So will your offspring be.”

ܘܠܐ ܐܬܟܪܗ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ ܟܕ ܡܬܒܩܐ ܒܦܓܪܗ ܡܝܬܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܒܪ ܡܐܐ ܫܢܝܢ ܘܒܡܪܒܥܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܕܣܪܐ
dsr' myth' wbmrbe' shnyn m'' br dhw' myth' bpgrh mthbq' kd bhymnwthh 'thkrh wl'
Without being weakened in faith, he didn’t consider his own body, already having been worn out, (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.

ܘܒܡܘܠܟܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܐܬܦܠܓ ܐܝܟ ܚܣܝܪ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܬܚܝܠ ܒܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܘܝܗܒ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ
l'lh' thshbwkhth' wyhb bhymnwth' 'thkhyl 'l' hymnwth' khsyr 'yk 'thplg l' d'lh' wbmwlkn'
Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,

ܘܐܫܪ ܕܡܕܡ ܕܡܠܟ ܠܗ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܠܡܓܡܪ
lmgmr mshkkh 'lh' lh dmlk dmdm w'shr
and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was also able to perform.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܬܚܫܒܬ ܠܗ ܠܟܐܢܘ
lk'nw lh 'thkhshbth hn' mTl
Therefore it also was “credited to him for righteousness.”

ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܛܠܬܗ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܐܬܟܬܒܬ ܗܕܐ ܕܐܬܚܫܒܬ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܗ ܠܟܐܢܘ
lk'nw hymnwthh d'thkhshbth hd' 'thkthbth blkhwd mTlthh hw' wl'
Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone,

ܐܠܐ ܐܦ ܡܛܠܬܢ ܕܐܦܠܢ ܥܬܝܕ ܗܘ ܕܢܚܫܘܒ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܗܝܡܢܢ ܒܡܢ ܕܐܩܝܡ ܠܡܪܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܡܝܬܐ
myth' byth mn mshykh' yshwe lmrn d'qym bmn dhymnn 'ylyn dnkhshwb hw ethyd d'pln mTlthn 'p 'l'
but for our sake also, to whom it will be accounted, who believe in him who raised Jesus, our Lord, from the dead,
