1
לשבחא על ידיהון דבני קרח תושבחתא:
thwshbkhtha qrkh dbny ydyhwn el lshbkha
Hear this, all you peoples. Listen, all you inhabitants of the world,

שמעו אחויתא דא כל עממיא אציתו כל דירי ארעא:
area dyry kl atsythw emmya kl da akhwytha shmew
both low and high, rich and poor together.

אוף בני אדם קדמאה אוף בנוי דיעקב כחדא זכאה וחיבא:
wkhyba zkah kkhda dyeqb bnwy awp qdmah adm bny awp
My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart will utter understanding.

פומי ימלל חוכמתא ורנגת לבא בינא:
byna lba wrngth khwkmtha ymll pwmy
I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will solve my riddle on the harp.

אצלי למתלא אודני אשרי למפתח בכנרא אוחדתי:
awkhdthy bknra lmpthkh ashry awdny lmthla atsly
Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?

מטול אדחל ביום אסערות בישא אלהן דחובת סורחני בסופי יחזרנני:
ykhzrnny bswpy swrkhny dkhwbth alhn bysha aserwth bywm adkhl mTwl
Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—
7
לחיביא די מתרחצין על נכסהון ובסגיאות עתריהון משתבחין:
mshthbkhyn ethryhwn wbsgyawth nkshwn el mthrkhtsyn dy lkhybya
none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.

אחוהי דאשתבא לא מפרק יפרוק גבר מנכסוי ולא יהב לאלהא פורקניה:
pwrqnyh lalha yhb wla mnkswy gbr yprwq mprq la dashthba akhwhy
For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,

ויהי יקיר פורקניה ויפסוק בישותיה ופורענותא לעלם:
lelm wpwrenwtha byshwthyh wypswq pwrqnyh yqyr wyhy
that he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.
10
ויחי תוב לחיי עלמא לא יחמי דין גהנם:
ghnm dyn ykhmy la elma lkhyy thwb wykhy
For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.

ארום יחמון חכימיא רשיעיא בגהנם יתדנון כחדא כסיליא ושטיא ייבדון וישבקון לצדיקיא ממונהון:
mmwnhwn ltsdyqya wyshbqwn yybdwn wshTya ksylya kkhda ythdnwn bghnm rshyeya khkymya ykhmwn arwm
Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations. They name their lands after themselves.

בבית קבורתהון ישרון לעלם ולא יקומון ממשכניהון לדרי דריא מטול דאתרברבו וקנו שום ביש עלוי ארעא:
area elwy bysh shwm wqnw dathrbrbw mTwl drya ldry mmshknyhwn yqwmwn wla lelm yshrwn qbwrthhwn bbyth
But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.

וגברא חיבא ביקרא לא יבית עם צדיקיא אמתיל היך בעירא אשתוא ללמא:
llma ashthwa beyra hyk amthyl tsdyqya em ybyth la byqra khyba wgbra
This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. Selah.

דין ארחתהון גרם שטותא להון ובסופהון בפומהון יתנון סורחנותהון לעלמא דאתי:
dathy lelma swrkhnwthhwn ythnwn bpwmhwn wbswphwn lhwn shTwtha grm arkhthhwn dyn
They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol, far from their mansion.

היך ענא צדיקיא שוו למותא וקטלון ותברו צדיקיא ופלחי אוריתא ותריציא אלקו מטול הכי גופיהון יהון בלין בגהנם מן בגלל דאושיטו ידיהון וחבילו בית מדור שכנתיה דיליה:
dylyh shknthyh mdwr byth wkhbylw ydyhwn dawshyTw bgll mn bghnm blyn yhwn gwpyhwn hky mTwl alqw wthrytsya awrytha wplkhy tsdyqya wthbrw wqTlwn lmwtha shww tsdyqya ena hyk
But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me. Selah.

אמר דוד ברוח נבואה ברם אלהא יפרוק נפשי מן דין גהנם ארום ילפנני אוריתיה לעלמין:
lelmyn awrythyh ylpnny arwm ghnm dyn mn npshy yprwq alha brm nbwah brwkh dwd amr
Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

לא תדחל ארום אתעתר גברא ארום יסגי איקר ביתיה:
bythyh ayqr ysgy arwm gbra athethr arwm thdkhl la
for when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory won’t descend after him.

ארום לא במותיה יסב כולא לא יחות בתרוי איקריה:
ayqryh bthrwy ykhwth la kwla ysb bmwthyh la arwm
Though while he lived he blessed his soul— and men praise you when you do well for yourself—
19
ארום נפשיה בחיוהי יברך לך ויודונך צדיקיא ארום תיטיב לפלחין קדמך:
qdmk lplkhyn thyTyb arwm tsdyqya wywdwnk lk ybrk bkhywhy npshyh arwm
he shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.

תעול דוכרנהון דצדיקיא עד דר אבהתהון ורשיעיא לעלמי עלמיא לא יחמון נהורא:
nhwra ykhmwn la elmya lelmy wrshyeya abhthhwn dr ed dtsdyqya dwkrnhwn thewl
A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.
