ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܒܢܝܢ̈ܫܐ ܐܝܟ ܚܕܐ ܥܬܝܪ̈ܐ ܘܡܣ̈ܟܢܐ
bny 're' wbnynsh' 'yk khd' ethyr' wmskn'
My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart will utter understanding.

ܦܘܡܝ ܢܡܠܠ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܪܢܝܗ ܕܠܒܝ ܣܘܟܠܐ
pwmy nmll khkmth' wrnyh dlby swkl'
I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will solve my riddle on the harp.

ܐܨܠܐ ܐ̈ܕܢܝ ܠܡ̈ܬܠܐ ܘܐܡܠܠ ܒܟܢܪ̈ܐ ܐܘܚ̈ܕܬܝ
'tsl' 'dny lmthl' w'mll bknr' 'wkhdthy
Why should I fear in the days of evil, when iniquity at my heels surrounds me?

ܠܐ ܕܚܠ ܐܢܐ ܒܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܒܝܫ̈ܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܕܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝ ܟܪܟܢܝ
l' dkhl 'n' bywmth' bysh' ewl' dbeldbby krkny
Those who trust in their wealth, and boast in the multitude of their riches—

ܟܠ ܕܬܟܝܠܝܢ ܥܠ ܚܝܠܗܘܢ ܘܡܫܬܒܗܪܝܢ ܒܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܥܘܬܪܗܘܢ
kl dthkylyn el khylhwn wmshthbhryn bswg'' dewthrhwn
none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give God a ransom for him.

ܐܚܐ ܠܐ ܦܪܩ ܘܓܒܪܐ ܠܐ ܝܗܒ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܦܘܪܩܢܗ
'kh' l' prq wgbr' l' yhb l'lh' pwrqnh
For the redemption of their life is costly, no payment is ever enough,

ܝܩܝܪ ܗܘ ܦܘܪܩܢܐ ܕܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܠܐܝ ܠܥܠܡ
yqyr hw pwrqn' dnpshhwn l'y lelm
that he should live on forever, that he should not see corruption.

ܕܬܚܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܚܙܐ ܚܒܠܐ
dthkh' lelm elmyn wl' thkhz' khbl'
For he sees that wise men die; likewise the fool and the senseless perish, and leave their wealth to others.

ܟܕ ܬܚܙܐ ܚܟ̈ܝܡܐ ܕܡܝܬܝܢ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܣܟ̈ܠܐ ܘܚܣܝܪ̈ܝ ܪܥܝܢܐ ܕܐܒܕܝܢ ܘܫܒܩܝܢ ܩܢܝܢܗܘܢ ܠܐܚܪ̈ܢܐ
kd thkhz' khkym' dmythyn 'kkhd' skl' wkhsyry reyn' d'bdyn wshbqyn qnynhwn l'khrn'
Their inward thought is that their houses will endure forever, and their dwelling places to all generations. They name their lands after themselves.

ܩܒܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܒ̈ܬܝܗܘܢ ܠܥܠܡ ܘܡܥܡܪܗܘܢ ܠܕܪܕܪܝܢ ܘܩܪܝܢ ܫܡ̈ܗܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ
qbryhwn bthyhwn lelm wmemrhwn ldrdryn wqryn shmh' b're'
But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.

ܒܪܢܫܐ ܒܐܝܩܪܗ ܠܐ ܐܬܒܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܐܫܬܠܡ ܠܒܥܝܪܐ ܘܐܬܕܡܝ ܠܗ̇

This is the destiny of those who are foolish, and of those who approve their sayings. Selah.

ܗܢܘ ܫܒܝܠܗܘܢ ܬܘܩܠܬܐ ܠܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܘܐܚܪܝܬ ܒܦܘܡܗܘܢ ܢܪܥܘܢ

They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol, far from their mansion.

ܐܝܟ ܥܢܐ ܠܫܝܘܠ ܢܫܬܠܡܘܢ ܘܡܘܬܐ ܢܪܥܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܢܫܬܠܛܘܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܬܪ̈ܝܨܐ ܒܨܦܪܐ ܘܨܘܪܬܗܘܢ ܬܒܠܐ ܫܝܘܠ ܘܡܢ ܬܫ̈ܒܚܬܗܘܢ ܢܬܕܚܩܘܢ
'yk en' lshywl nshthlmwn wmwth' nre' 'nwn wnshthlTwn bhwn thryts' btspr' wtswrthhwn thbl' shywl wmn thshbkhthhwn nthdkhqwn
But God will redeem my soul from the power of Sheol, for he will receive me. Selah.

ܐܠܗܐ ܢܦܪܩܝܗ̇ ܠܢܦܫܝ. ܘܡܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܫܝܘܠ ܢܣܩܢܝ

Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠ ܡܐ ܕܥܬܪ ܓܒܪܐ ܘܣܓܐ ܐܝܩܪܐ ܕܒܝܬܗ

for when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory won’t descend after him.

ܡܛܘܠ ܕܠܐ ܢܣܒ ܡܕܡ ܒܡܘܬܗ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܢܚܬ ܒܬܪܗ ܫܘܒܚܗ

Though while he lived he blessed his soul— and men praise you when you do well for yourself—

ܡܛܠ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܗܘ ܡܒܪܟ ܒܚܝ̈ܘܗܝ ܢܘܕܐ ܠܟ ܟܕ ܬܛܐܒ ܠܗ

he shall go to the generation of his fathers. They shall never see the light.

ܘܬܡܛܝܘܗܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܕܪܐ ܕܐ̈ܒܗܘܗܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܥܠܡ ܠܐ ܢܚܙܐ ܢܘܗܪܐ

A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.
