Contend, Yahweh, with those who contend with me. Fight against those who fight against me.

ܐܚܘܕ ܙܝܢܐ ܘܣܟܪܐ ܘܩܘܡ ܒܥܘܕܪܢܝ
'khwd zyn' wskr' wqwm bewdrny
Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for my help.

ܫܡܘܛ ܣܦܣܝܪܐ ܘܐܒܪܩ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܪ̈ܕܘܦܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܢܦܫܝ ܕܐܢܐ ܗܘ ܦܪܘܩܟܝ

Brandish the spear and block those who pursue me. Tell my soul, “I am your salvation.”

ܢܒܗܬܘܢ ܘܢܚܦܪܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܒܥܝܢ ܠܢܦܫܝ ܢܗܦܟܘܢ ܠܒܣܬܪܗܘܢ ܘܢܚܦܪܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܬܚܫܒܘ ܥܠܝ ܒܝܫܬܐ
nbhthwn wnkhprwn 'ylyn dbeyn lnpshy nhpkwn lbsthrhwn wnkhprwn 'ylyn d'thkhshbw ely byshth'
Let those who seek after my soul be disappointed and brought to dishonor. Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded.

ܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܚܝܚܐ ܩܕܡ ܪܘܚܐ ܘܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܢܪܕܘܦ ܐܢܘܢ
nhwwn 'yk dkhykh' qdm rwkh' wml'kh dmry' nrdwp 'nwn
Let them be as chaff before the wind, Yahweh’s angel driving them on.

ܬܚܫܟ ܐܘܪܚܗܘܢ ܘܢܗ̈ܘܝܢ ܒܗ̇ ܡܫܪ̈ܘܥܝܬܐ ܘܡܠܐܟܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܪܕܘܦ ܐܢܘܢ
thkhshk 'wrkhhwn wnhwyn bh mshrweyth' wml'kh d'lh' nrdwp 'nwn
Let their way be dark and slippery, Yahweh’s angel pursuing them.

ܥܠ ܕܛܡܪܘ ܠܝ ܦܚ̈ܐ ܘܡܨܝܕܬܐ ܦܪܣܘ ܠܢܦܫܝ
el dTmrw ly pkh' wmtsydth' prsw lnpshy
For without cause they have hidden their net in a pit for me. Without cause they have dug a pit for my soul.

ܬܐܬܐ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ ܘܡܨܝܕܬܐ ܕܛܡܪܘ ܬܐܚܘܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܓܘܡܨܐ ܕܚܦܪܘ ܢܦܠܘܢ ܒܗ
th'th' elyhwn byshth' mn shly' wmtsydth' dTmrw th'khwd 'nwn wgwmts' dkhprw nplwn bh
Let destruction come on him unawares. Let his net that he has hidden catch himself. Let him fall into that destruction.

ܢܦܫܝ ܕܝܢ ܬܪܘܙ ܒܐܠܗܐ. ܘܬܬܒܣܡ ܒܦܘܪܩܢܗ

My soul shall be joyful in Yahweh. It shall rejoice in his salvation.

ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܓܪ̈ܡܝ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܢܘ ܐܟܘܬܟ ܕܡܦܨܐ ܐܢܬ ܠܒܝܫܐ ܡܢ ܒܥܠܕܒܒܗ ܘܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܠܒܝܫܐ ܡܢ ܡܢ ܕܚܛܦ ܠܗ ܒܩܛܝܪܐ
wklhwn grmy n'mrwn mry' mnw 'kwthk dmpts' 'nth lbysh' mn beldbbh wlmskn' wlbysh' mn mn dkhTp lh bqTyr'
All my bones shall say, “Yahweh, who is like you, who delivers the poor from him who is too strong for him; yes, the poor and the needy from him who robs him?”

ܩܡܘ ܣܗ̈ܕܐ ܕܥܘܠܐ ܘܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܝܬ ܫܐܠܘܢܝ

Unrighteous witnesses rise up. They ask me about things that I don’t know about.

ܦܪܥܘܢܝ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܚܠܦ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܐܘܒܕܘ ܢܦܫܝ ܡܢ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ

They reward me evil for good, to the bereaving of my soul.

ܘܐܢܐ ܒܟܪܝܗܘܬܗܘܢ ܠܒܫܬ ܣܩܐ ܘܡܟܟܬ ܢܦܫܝ ܒܨܘܡܐ ܘܨܠܘܬܝ ܠܥܘܒܝ ܗܦܟܬ
w'n' bkryhwthhwn lbshth sq' wmkkth npshy btswm' wtslwthy lewby hpkth
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth. I afflicted my soul with fasting. My prayer returned into my own bosom.

ܐܝܟ ܪܚܡܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܐܚܐ ܡܗܠܟ ܗܘܝܬ ܘܐܝܟ ܗܘ ܕܝܬܒ ܒܐܒܠܐ ܐܬܕܘܝܬ
'yk rkhm' w'yk 'kh' mhlk hwyth w'yk hw dythb b'bl' 'thdwyth
I behaved myself as though it had been my friend or my brother. I bowed down mourning, as one who mourns his mother.

ܒܚܫܝ ܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܘܚܕܝܘ ܠܝ ܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܥܠܝ ܢܘܓܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܬ
bkhshy 'thknshw wkhdyw ly 'thknshw ely nwgr' wl' ydeth
But in my adversity, they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together. The attackers gathered themselves together against me, and I didn’t know it. They tore at me, and didn’t cease.

ܒܫܘܒܗܪܗܘܢ ܘܒܒܘܙܚܗܘܢ ܚܪܩܘ ܥܠܝ ܫ̈ܢܝܗܘܢ
bshwbhrhwn wbbwzkhhwn khrqw ely shnyhwn
Like the profane mockers in feasts, they gnashed their teeth at me.

ܡܪܝ ܟܕܘ ܚܙܝܬ ܐܗܦܟ ܢܦܫܝ ܡܢ ܫܓܘܫܝܗܘܢ ܘܡܢ ܐܪ̈ܝܘܬܐ ܝܚܝܕܘܬܝ
mry kdw khzyth 'hpk npshy mn shgwshyhwn wmn 'rywth' ykhydwthy
Lord, how long will you look on? Rescue my soul from their destruction, my precious life from the lions.

ܐܘܕܐ ܠܟ ܒܥܕܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܘܒܥܡ̈ܡܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܐܙܡܪ ܠܟ
'wd' lk bedth' rbth' wbemm' sgy'' 'zmr lk
I will give you thanks in the great assembly. I will praise you among many people.

ܕܠܐ ܢܚܕܘܢ ܠܝ ܒ̈ܥܠܕܒܒܝ ܘܫܩܪ̈ܐ ܕܣܢܝܢ ܠܝ ܡܓܢ ܕܡܪܡܙܝܢ ܒܥܝܢ̈ܝܗܘܢ
dl' nkhdwn ly beldbby wshqr' dsnyn ly mgn dmrmzyn beynyhwn
Don’t let those who are my enemies wrongfully rejoice over me; neither let those who hate me without a cause wink their eyes.

ܘܫܠܡܐ ܠܐ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܘܥܠ ܡܟܝܟܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܢܟܠܐ ܡܬܚܫܒܝܢ
wshlm' l' 'mryn wel mkyk' d're' nkl' mthkhshbyn
For they don’t speak peace, but they devise deceitful words against those who are quiet in the land.

ܦܬܚܘ ܥܠܝ ܦܘܡܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܐܗܐ ܐܗܐ ܚܙܬ ܒܗ ܥܝܢܢ
pthkhw ely pwmhwn w'mrw 'h' 'h' khzth bh eynn
Yes, they opened their mouth wide against me. They said, “Aha! Aha! Our eye has seen it!”

ܚܙܝܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܫܬܘܩ ܡܪܝ ܘܠܐ ܬܪܚܩ ܡܢܝ
khzyth 'lh' wl' thshthwq mry wl' thrkhq mny
You have seen it, Yahweh. Don’t keep silent. Lord, don’t be far from me.

ܐܬܬܥܝܪ ܠܕܝܢܝ ܐܠܗܝ ܘܡܪܝ ܘܚܙܝ ܥܘܠܒܢܝ
'ththeyr ldyny 'lhy wmry wkhzy ewlbny
Wake up! Rise up to defend me, my God! My Lord, contend for me!

ܕܘܢܝܢܝ ܐܝܟ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܟ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܚܕܘܢ ܠܝ
dwnyny 'yk zdyqwthk mry' dl' nkhdwn ly
Vindicate me, Yahweh my God, according to your righteousness. Don’t let them gloat over me.

ܘܠܐ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܒܠܒܗܘܢ ܕܐܬܬܢܝܚܬ ܢܦܫܢ ܘܛܒܥܢܝܗܝ
wl' n'mrwn blbhwn d'ththnykhth npshn wTbenyhy
Don’t let them say in their heart, “Aha! That’s the way we want it!” Don’t let them say, “We have swallowed him up!”

ܢܒܗܬܘܢ ܘܢܚܦܪܘܢ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܨܒܝܢ ܠܒܝܫܬܝ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܪܘܪܒܝܢ ܥܠܝ ܢܠܒܫܘܢ ܒܗܬܬܐ
nbhthwn wnkhprwn 'kkhd' 'ylyn dtsbyn lbyshthy w'ylyn dmthrwrbyn ely nlbshwn bhthth'
Let them be disappointed and confounded together who rejoice at my calamity. Let them be clothed with shame and dishonor who magnify themselves against me.

ܢܫܒܚܘܢ ܘܢܚܕܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܨܒܝܢ ܠܙܟܘܬܝ ܘܢܐܡܪܘܢ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܕܪܒ ܗܘ ܡܪܝܐ ܕܨܒܐ ܒܫܠܡܐ ܕܥܒܕܗ
nshbkhwn wnkhdwn 'ylyn dtsbyn lzkwthy wn'mrwn bklzbn drb hw mry' dtsb' bshlm' debdh
Let those who favor my righteous cause shout for joy and be glad. Yes, let them say continually, “May Yahweh be magnified, who has pleasure in the prosperity of his servant!”

ܠܫܢܝ ܢܘܕܐ ܒܙܕܝܩܘܬܟ ܘܟܠܗ ܝܘܡܐ ܒܬܫܒ̈ܚܬܟ

My tongue shall talk about your righteousness and about your praise all day long.
