שירא דאתאמר על מסוקין דתהומא על יד דוד אלולי יי דהוה בסעדנא יימרון כדון ישראל:
yshral kdwn yymrwn bsedna dhwh yy alwly dwd yd el dthhwma mswqyn el dathamr shyra
If it had not been Yahweh who was on our side, let Israel now say,

אלולי מימרא דיי דהוה בסעדנא כד קם עלנא בר נש:
nsh br elna qm kd bsedna dhwh dyy mymra alwly
if it had not been Yahweh who was on our side, when men rose up against us,

הא בכן כד חיין בלעו יתנא כד תקיף רוגזהון בנא:
bna rwgzhwn thqyp kd ythna blew khyyn kd bkn ha
then they would have swallowed us up alive, when their wrath was kindled against us,

הא בכן מיא שטפו יתנא מרעית עברא על נפשנא:
npshna el ebra mreyth ythna shTpw mya bkn ha
then the waters would have overwhelmed us, the stream would have gone over our soul.

הא בכן עבר על נפשנא מלכא דמתיל למוי זידוניא דימא:
dyma zydwnya lmwy dmthyl mlka npshna el ebr bkn ha
Then the proud waters would have gone over our soul.
6
בריך שמא דיי דלא מסרנא היך תבירא לשניהון:
lshnyhwn thbyra hyk msrna dla dyy shma bryk
Blessed be Yahweh, who has not given us as a prey to their teeth.

נפשנא היך כצפרא אשתיזבת מפחי תקליא פחא אתבר ואנן אשתזבנא:
ashthzbna wann athbr pkha thqlya mpkhy ashthyzbth ktspra hyk npshna
Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the fowler’s snare. The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
