שבחו קדם יי ארום טב ארום לעלם טוביה:
Twbyh lelm arwm Tb arwm yy qdm shbkhw
Give thanks to Yahweh, for he is good, for his loving kindness endures forever.
2
יימרון פריקיא דיי די פרקינון מן יד מעיקא:
meyqa yd mn prqynwn dy dyy pryqya yymrwn
Let the redeemed by Yahweh say so, whom he has redeemed from the hand of the adversary,

ומארעתא כנשינון ממדנחא וממערבא מצפונא ומן ימא דרומא:
drwma yma wmn mtspwna wmmerba mmdnkha knshynwn wmaretha
and gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.

על עמא דבית ישראל אתנבי ואמר עמא בית ישראל טעו במדברא בצדי ארחא קרתא דמיתבא לא אשכחו:
ashkkhw la dmythba qrtha arkha btsdy bmdbra Tew yshral byth ema wamr athnby yshral dbyth ema el
They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way. They found no city to live in.

כפנים לחוד צחין נפשתהון תשתלהיא:
thshthlhya npshthhwn tskhyn lkhwd kpnym
Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

וצלו קדם יי כד עיק להון ממעקתהון פצא יתהון:
ythhwn ptsa mmeqthhwn lhwn eyq kd yy qdm wtslw
Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses.
7
ודברינון באורח תריצתא למיזל לירושלם קרתא דמיתבא:
dmythba qrtha lyrwshlm lmyzl thrytstha bawrkh wdbrynwn
He led them also by a straight way, that they might go to a city to live in.

יהודון קדם יי מטול חסדיה ומשתען פרישותיה לבני נשא:
nsha lbny pryshwthyh wmshthen khsdyh mTwl yy qdm yhwdwn
Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!

ארום אשבע נפש סריקא ונפשא כפינא מלי טובא:
Twba mly kpyna wnpsha sryqa npsh ashbe arwm
For he satisfies the longing soul. He fills the hungry soul with good.

על צדקיהו ורברבני ישראל אתנבי ואמר צדקיהו ורברבני ישראל דגלו בבבל ויתיבו בחשוכא וטולא דמותא והוו אסירין בסגוף שרי פרזלא:
przla shry bsgwp asyryn whww dmwtha wTwla bkhshwka wythybw bbbl dglw yshral wrbrbny tsdqyhw wamr athnby yshral wrbrbny tsdqyhw el
Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron,

ארום סריבו על מימריה דאלהא ומלכת עלאה רחיקו:
rkhyqw elah wmlkth dalha mymryh el srybw arwm
because they rebelled against the words of God, and condemned the counsel of the Most High.
12
ותבר בלעותא לבהון אתקילו ולית דסעיד:
dseyd wlyth athqylw lbhwn blewtha wthbr
Therefore he brought down their heart with labor. They fell down, and there was no one to help.
13
וצלו קדם יי בדעיק להון ממעיקתהון פרקנון:
prqnwn mmeyqthhwn lhwn bdeyq yy qdm wtslw
Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses.
14
אפקנון מחשוכא וטולא דמותא ושלשלותהון יתרע:
ythre wshlshlwthhwn dmwtha wTwla mkhshwka apqnwn
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke away their chains.
15
יהודון קדם יי מטול חסדיה ומשתען פרשותיה לבני נשא:
nsha lbny prshwthyh wmshthen khsdyh mTwl yy qdm yhwdwn
Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!

ארום תבר דשי נחשא ועברי פרזלא קצץ:
qtsts przla webry nkhsha dshy thbr arwm
For he has broken the gates of bronze, and cut through bars of iron.

שטין מאורח מרדיהון ומעויתיהון מסתגפין:
msthgpyn wmewythyhwn mrdyhwn mawrkh shTyn
Fools are afflicted because of their disobedience, and because of their iniquities.
18
כל מיכלא תרחיק נפשהון ומטין עד מעלני מותא:
mwtha melny ed wmTyn npshhwn thrkhyq mykla kl
Their soul abhors all kinds of food. They draw near to the gates of death.
19
וצלו קדם יי כד עיק להון ממעיקתהון יפרקנון:
yprqnwn mmeyqthhwn lhwn eyq kd yy qdm wtslw
Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he saves them out of their distresses.
20
ישדר פתגמי אסותיה ויסי יתהון וישיזיב מלחבלותהון:
mlkhblwthhwn wyshyzyb ythhwn wysy aswthyh pthgmy yshdr
He sends his word, and heals them, and delivers them from their graves.
21
יהודון קדם יי מטול חסדיה ומשתען פרישותיה לבני נשא:
nsha lbny pryshwthyh wmshthen khsdyh mTwl yy qdm yhwdwn
Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds to the children of men!
22
ויכסון נכסי תודתא וישתעון עובדוי בדצתא:
bdtstha ewbdwy wyshthewn thwdtha nksy wykswn
Let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his deeds with singing.

מלחיא נחותי ימא באלפיא עבדי פולחנא במיין סגיעין:
sgyeyn bmyyn pwlkhna ebdy balpya yma nkhwthy mlkhya
Those who go down to the sea in ships, who do business in great waters,
24
הנון חמון עובדיא דיי ופרישותיה במצולתא:
bmtswltha wpryshwthyh dyy ewbdya khmwn hnwn
these see Yahweh’s deeds, and his wonders in the deep.
25
ואמר במימריה ואקים זעפא ועלעולא ואתרוממו גללוי:
gllwy wathrwmmw welewla zepa waqym bmymryh wamr
For he commands, and raises the stormy wind, which lifts up its waves.

סלקין צית שמיא נחתין עמקי תהומיא נפשתהון בבישא תתמוגג:
ththmwgg bbysha npshthhwn thhwmya emqy nkhthyn shmya tsyth slqyn
They mount up to the sky; they go down again to the depths. Their soul melts away because of trouble.
27
ירתתון ינועון היך רויא דחמר וכל חוכמתהון מסתלעמא:
msthlema khwkmthhwn wkl dkhmr rwya hyk ynwewn yrththwn
They reel back and forth, and stagger like a drunken man, and are at their wits’ end.

וצלו קדם יי כד עיק להון וממעיקתהון יפק יתהון:
ythhwn ypq wmmeyqthhwn lhwn eyq kd yy qdm wtslw
Then they cry to Yahweh in their trouble, and he brings them out of their distress.

יקים עלעולא לשתיקותא וישתקון גלליהון:
gllyhwn wyshthqwn lshthyqwtha elewla yqym
He makes the storm a calm, so that its waves are still.
30
וחדון ארום שתקין ודברנון למחוז רעיתהון:
reythhwn lmkhwz wdbrnwn shthqyn arwm wkhdwn
Then they are glad because it is calm, so he brings them to their desired haven.

יהודון קדם יי מטול חסדיה ומשתען פרישותיה לבני נשא:
nsha lbny pryshwthyh wmshthen khsdyh mTwl yy qdm yhwdwn
Let them praise Yahweh for his loving kindness, for his wonderful deeds for the children of men!
32
ומרוממין יתיה בכנישת עמא בית ישראל ובסנהדרין דחכימיא ישבחון יתיה:
ythyh yshbkhwn dkhkymya wbsnhdryn yshral byth ema bknyshth ythyh wmrwmmyn
Let them exalt him also in the assembly of the people, and praise him in the seat of the elders.

שוי נהרותא היך מדברא ומפקנות מיא היך צחותא:
tskhwtha hyk mya wmpqnwth mdbra hyk nhrwtha shwy
He turns rivers into a desert, water springs into a thirsty ground,

ארעא דישראל דעבדא פרי צדא היך סדום דאתהפכת מן בישות יתבין בה:
bh ythbyn byshwth mn dathhpkth sdwm hyk tsda pry debda dyshral area
and a fruitful land into a salt waste, for the wickedness of those who dwell in it.
35
כד תבו לאוריתא שוי מדברא היך אריתא דמיא וארע ציחיא למפקנות מיא:
mya lmpqnwth tsykhya ware dmya arytha hyk mdbra shwy lawrytha thbw kd
He turns a desert into a pool of water, and a dry land into water springs.
36
ואשרי תמן כפנים ואתקינו קרתא מיתבא:
mythba qrtha wathqynw kpnym thmn washry
There he makes the hungry live, that they may prepare a city to live in,
37
וזרע חקלין ונציבו כרמיא ועבדו פרי אבא:
aba pry webdw krmya wntsybw khqlyn wzre
sow fields, plant vineyards, and reap the fruits of increase.
38
וברכינון ויסגון לחדא ובעיריהון לא יזער:
yzer la wbeyryhwn lkhda wysgwn wbrkynwn
He blesses them also, so that they are multiplied greatly. He doesn’t allow their livestock to decrease.
39
וכד חבו אזערו ואתמסכנו מן אניק בישתא ודוונא:
wdwwna byshtha anyq mn wathmsknw azerw khbw wkd
Again, they are diminished and bowed down through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.
40
שדי בסרנותא על רברבניא ואטעיאונון בלמא דלא אורחא:
awrkha dla blma waTeyawnwn rbrbnya el bsrnwtha shdy
He pours contempt on princes, and causes them to wander in a trackless waste.

וכד תבו לאוריתא שגב חשיכא ממסכינותא ושוי היך עאני גניסיא:
gnysya eany hyk wshwy mmskynwtha khshyka shgb lawrytha thbw wkd
Yet he lifts the needy out of their affliction, and increases their families like a flock.
42
חמון תריציא ויחדון וכל מרי שקרא שור פומא ואתחסם:
wathkhsm pwma shwr shqra mry wkl wykhdwn thrytsya khmwn
The upright will see it, and be glad. All the wicked will shut their mouths.
