חכמתא בנת ביתה ועתדת ביה שבעא עמודין:
emwdyn shbea byh wethdth bythh bnth khkmtha
Wisdom has built her house. She has carved out her seven pillars.

ונכסת נכסתא ומזגת חמרה וסדרת פתורתה:
pthwrthh wsdrth khmrh wmzgth nkstha wnksth
She has prepared her meat. She has mixed her wine. She has also set her table.

ושדרת טליתהא דתקרין על גיב רמתא עשינתא דנצירן:
dntsyrn eshyntha rmtha gyb el dthqryn Tlythha wshdrth
She has sent out her maidens. She cries from the highest places of the city:

מן דשבר נאתא לותי וחסיר רעינא אמרת ליה:
lyh amrth reyna wkhsyr lwthy natha dshbr mn
“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here!” As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

אתו אכולו לחמי ואשתו חמרא דמזגית:
dmzgyth khmra washthw lkhmy akwlw athw
“Come, eat some of my bread, Drink some of the wine which I have mixed!

שבוקו מנכון חסירות רעיונכון וחיו והליכו בארחא דביונא:
dbywna barkha whlykw wkhyw reywnkwn khsyrwth mnkwn shbwqw
Leave your simple ways, and live. Walk in the way of understanding.”

דרדי ממיקנא נסיב ליה צערא ומכסנותא לרשיעא מומא הוא ליה:
lyh hwa mwma lrshyea wmksnwtha tsera lyh nsyb mmyqna drdy
One who corrects a mocker invites insult. One who reproves a wicked man invites abuse.

לא תכוס לממקנא דלא נסניך אכיס לחכימא דנרחמך:
dnrkhmk lkhkyma akys nsnyk dla lmmqna thkws la
Don’t reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you. Reprove a wise person, and he will love you.

אליף לחכימא ויתחכם תוב אודע לצדיקא ויוסף מנדעא:
mndea wywsp ltsdyqa awde thwb wythkhkm lkhkyma alyp
Instruct a wise person, and he will be still wiser. Teach a righteous person, and he will increase in learning.

שירוי דחכמתא דחלתיה דאלהא וידיעתא דקדישי ביונא:
bywna dqdyshy wydyetha dalha dkhlthyh dkhkmtha shyrwy
The fear of Yahweh is the beginning of wisdom. The knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

מטול דבה נסגין יומתך ויוספון לך שניא דחיי:
dkhyy shnya lk wywspwn ywmthk nsgyn dbh mTwl
For by me your days will be multiplied. The years of your life will be increased.

אין חכימתא לנפשך חכימתא ואם תהוי ממיק בלחודיך תטען:
thTen blkhwdyk mmyq thhwy wam khkymtha lnpshk khkymtha ayn
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself. If you mock, you alone will bear it.

אתתא סכלתא ופרידתא שברתה ולא ידעה טבתא:
Tbtha ydeh wla shbrthh wprydtha skltha aththa
The foolish woman is loud, undisciplined, and knows nothing.

ויתבה על תרע ביתה על כורסיא רמא ועשינא:
weshyna rma kwrsya el bythh thre el wythbh
She sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city,

וקריא לעברי ארחא דתריצי אורחתהון:
awrkhthhwn dthrytsy arkha lebry wqrya
to call to those who pass by, who go straight on their ways,
16
מטול מן דשבר נאתא לותה וחסיר רעינא ואמרה ליה:
lyh wamrh reyna wkhsyr lwthh natha dshbr mn mTwl
“Whoever is simple, let him turn in here.” As for him who is void of understanding, she says to him,

מיא גנוביא חלין ולחמא דטימורא בסימא:
bsyma dTymwra wlkhma khlyn gnwbya mya
“Stolen water is sweet. Food eaten in secret is pleasant.”
