ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܐܟܪܙ ܘܣܘܟܠܐ ܢܥܢܝܟ

Doesn’t wisdom cry out? Doesn’t understanding raise her voice?

ܥܠ ܪܝܫ ܪ̈ܡܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܝܬܝܗ̇ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܒܝܬ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܐ ܘܥܠ ܝܕ ܫܒܝ̈ܠܐ ܩܝܡܐ
el rysh rmth' gyr 'ythyh khkmth' wbyth 'wrkhth' wel yd shbyl' qym'
On the top of high places by the way, where the paths meet, she stands.

ܘܥܠ ܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܒܦܘܡܗ̇ ܩܪܝܐ ܘܒܡ̈ܥܠܢܐ ܕܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܕܟܪ̈ܟܐ ܡܫܬܒܚܐ
wel thre' bpwmh qry' wbmeln' dthre' dkrk' mshthbkh'
Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, at the entry doors, she cries aloud:

ܘܐܡܪܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܩܪܝܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܩܠܝ ܥܠ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ

“I call to you men! I send my voice to the sons of mankind.

ܕܢܣܬܟܠܘܢ ܫܒܪ̈ܐ ܥܪܝܡܘܬܐ ܘܚܣܝܪ̈ܝ ܪܥܝܢܐ ܢܣܬܟܠܘܢ ܒܠܒܗܘܢ
dnsthklwn shbr' erymwth' wkhsyry reyn' nsthklwn blbhwn
You simple, understand prudence! You fools, be of an understanding heart!

ܫܘܡܥܘܢܝ ܡܛܘܠ ܕܫܪܝܪܬܐ ܗܘ ܡܡܠܠܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܦܬܚ ܦܘܡܝ ܬܪܝܨܘܬܐ

Hear, for I will speak excellent things. The opening of my lips is for right things.

ܩܘܫܬܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܪܢܐ ܦܘܡܝ ܘܛܡ̈ܐܢ ܩܕܡܝ ܣܦܘ̈ܬܐ ܕܓܠܬ̈ܐ
qwshth' hw gyr rn' pwmy wTm'n qdmy spwth' dglth'
For my mouth speaks truth. Wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

ܘܒܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܡ̈ܠܝ ܦܘܡܝ ܘܠܝܬ ܒܗܝܢ ܦܘܬܠܐ ܘܥܘܩܡܐ
wbzdyqwth' 'nyn klhyn mly pwmy wlyth bhyn pwthl' wewqm'
All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

ܘܟܠܗܝܢ ܓܠܝ̈ܢ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܫܬܘܕܥ ܠܗܝܢ ܘܬܪ̈ܝܨܢ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܨܒܐ ܠܡܕܥ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ
wklhyn glyn 'nyn l'yn' dmshthwde lhyn wthrytsn 'nyn l'yn' dtsb' lmde 'nyn
They are all plain to him who understands, right to those who find knowledge.

ܩܒܠܘ ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܟܣܦܐ ܘܓܒܘ ܠܟܘܢ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܛܒ ܡܢ ܕܗܒܐ ܣܢܝܢܐ
qblw mrdwth' wl' ksp' wgbw lkwn ydeth' Tb mn dhb' snyn'
Receive my instruction rather than silver, knowledge rather than choice gold.

ܡܛܠ ܕܛܒܐ ܗܝ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܛܒ ܡܢ ܕܗܒܐ ܣܢܝܢܐ ܘܛܒ ܡܢ ܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܛܒܬ̈ܐ ܘܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܦܚܡ ܠܗ̇
mTl dTb' hy khkmth' Tb mn dhb' snyn' wTb mn k'p' Tbth' wmdm l' pkhm lh
For wisdom is better than rubies. All the things that may be desired can’t be compared to it.

ܐܢܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܒܪܝܬ ܥܪܝܡܘܬܐ ܘܝܕܥܬܐ ܘܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܩܢܝܐ
'n' khkmth' bryth erymwth' wydeth' wthreyth' 'n' qny'
“I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion.

ܕܚܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܣܢܝܐ ܒܝܫܘܬܐ ܘܓܐܝܘܬܐ ܘܪܡܘܬܐ ܘܐܘܪܚܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܦܘܡܐ ܗܦܝܟܐ ܣܢܝܐ ܐܢܐ
dkhlthh dmry' sny' byshwth' wg'ywth' wrmwth' w'wrkh' byshth' wpwm' hpyk' sny' 'n'
The fear of Yahweh is to hate evil. I hate pride, arrogance, the evil way, and the perverse mouth.

ܕܝܠܝ ܗܝ ܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܘܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܕܝܠܝ ܗܘ ܣܘܟܠܐ ܘܕܝܠܝ ܗܝ ܓܢܒܪܘܬܐ
dyly hy threyth' wywlpn' dyly hw swkl' wdyly hy gnbrwth'
Counsel and sound knowledge are mine. I have understanding and power.

ܡܛܠܬܝ ܡ̈ܠܟܐ ܡܡܠܟܝܢ ܘܫ̈ܠܝܛܢܐ ܒܕܩܝܢ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ
mTlthy mlk' mmlkyn wshlyTn' bdqyn zdyqwth'
By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

ܡܛܘܠܬܝ ܫ̈ܠܝܛܢܐ ܡܫܬܠܛܝܢ ܘܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܕܝ̇ܢ̈ܐ ܕܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ
mTwlthy shlyTn' mshthlTyn wrwrbn' wklhwn dyn' dzdyqwth'
By me princes rule, nobles, and all the righteous rulers of the earth.

ܐܢܐ ܪܚܡܐ ܐܢܐ ܪ̈ܚܡܝ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܒܥܝܢ ܠܝ ܢܫܟܚܘܢܢܝ
'n' rkhm' 'n' rkhmy w'ylyn dbeyn ly nshkkhwnny
I love those who love me. Those who seek me diligently will find me.

ܥܘܬܪܐ ܘܐܝܩܪܐ ܕܝܠܝ ܗܘ ܘܩܢܝܢܐ ܥܬܝܩܐ ܘܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ
ewthr' w'yqr' dyly hw wqnyn' ethyq' wzdyqwth'
With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity.

ܘܦܐܪ̈ܝ ܛܒܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܡܢ ܕܗܒܐ ܣܢܝܢܐ ܘܥ̈ܠܠܬܝ ܡܢ ܣܐܡܐ ܓܒܝܐ
wp'ry Tbyn 'nwn mn dhb' snyn' wellthy mn s'm' gby'
My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, my yield than choice silver.

ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܡܗܠܟܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܒܓܘ ܫܒܝ̈ܠܐ ܕܕܝܢܐ

I walk in the way of righteousness, in the middle of the paths of justice,

ܕܐܘܪܬ ܠܪ̈ܚܡܝ ܣܒܪܐ ܘܣܝܡ̈ܬܗܘܢ ܐܡܠܐ
d'wrth lrkhmy sbr' wsymthhwn 'ml'
that I may give wealth to those who love me. I fill their treasuries.

ܡܪܝܐ ܒܪܢܝ ܒܪܝܫ ܒܪ̈ܝܬܗ ܘܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܟܠܗܘܢ

“Yahweh possessed me in the beginning of his work, before his deeds of old.

ܘܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܥ̈ܠܡܐ ܐܬܩܢܢܝ ܘܡܢ ܪܫܝܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܕܢܬܩܢ ܐܪܥܐ
wmn qdm elm' 'thqnny wmn rshyth' wmn qdm dnthqn 're'
I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, before the earth existed.

ܥܕܠܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܬܗ̈ܘܡܐ ܐܬܝܠܕܬ ܘܥܕܠܐ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܡ̈ܝܐ ܒܡ̈ܒܘܥܐ

When there were no depths, I was born, when there were no springs abounding with water.

ܘܥܕܠܐ ܢܬܩܢܘܢ ܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܘܩܕܡ ܪ̈ܡܬܐ ܐܬܒܛܢܬ

Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was born;

ܥܕܠܐ ܢܥܒܕ ܐܪܥܐ ܘܢܚ̈ܠܐ ܘܪܝܫ ܥܦܪܗ̇ ܕܬܒܝܠ

while as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

ܟܕ ܡܬܩܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܥܡܗ ܗܘܝܬ ܘܟܕ ܥܒܕ ܚܘܓܬܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܬܗ̈ܘܡܐ

When he established the heavens, I was there. When he set a circle on the surface of the deep,

ܘܟܕ ܐܥܫܢ ܥܢ̈ܢܐ ܡܢ ܠܥܠ ܘܟܕ ܐܥܫܢ ܡܒ̈ܘܥܐ ܕܬܗ̈ܘܡܐ

then I was the craftsman by his side. I was a delight day by day, always rejoicing before him,

ܫܡܥܘ ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܘܐܬܚܟܡܘ ܘܠܐ ܬܛܥܘܢ

Hear instruction, and be wise. Don’t refuse it.

ܛܘܒܘܗܝ ܠܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܢܫܡܥܢܝ ܘܢܫܗܪ ܥܠ ܬܪ̈ܥܝ ܒܟܠܝܘܡ ܘܢܛܪ ܐ̈ܣܟܦܬܐ ܕܬܪ̈ܥܝ
Twbwhy lbrnsh' dnshmeny wnshhr el threy bklywm wnTr 'skpth' dthrey
Blessed is the man who hears me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my door posts.

ܡܛܠ ܕܡܦܩ̈ܢܝ ܡܦܩ̈ܢܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܚ̈ܝܐ ܘܢܦܩ ܨܒܝܢܐ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ

For whoever finds me finds life, and will obtain favor from Yahweh.

ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܚܛܝܢ ܥܠܝ ܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܢܟܝܢ ܘܟܠܗܘܢ ܣ̈ܢܐܝ ܪ̈ܚܡܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܡܘܬܐ

But he who sins against me wrongs his own soul. All those who hate me love death.”
