ܒܪܝ ܐܢ ܥܪܒܬ ܠܚܒܪܟ ܐܫܠܡܬ ܐܝܕܟ ܠܢܘܟܪܝܐ
lnwkry' 'ydk 'shlmth lkhbrk erbth 'n bry
My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger,

ܐܬܬܨܝܕܬ ܒܡܐܡܪܐ ܕܦܘܡܟ ܘܐܬܬܚܕܬ ܒܡܡܠܠܐ ܕܣ̈ܦܘܬܟ
dspwthk bmmll' w'ththkhdth dpwmk bm'mr' 'ththtsydth
you are trapped by the words of your mouth; you are ensnared with the words of your mouth.

ܥܒܕ ܗܟܢܐ ܒܪܝ ܘܐܬܦܨܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܚܒܪܟ ܢܦܠܬ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܝ ܒܥܠܕܒܒܟ ܓܪܓ ܗܟܝܠ ܚܒܪܟ ܕܥܪܒܬ ܥܠܘܗܝ

Do this now, my son, and deliver yourself, since you have come into the hand of your neighbor. Go, humble yourself. Press your plea with your neighbor.

ܘܠܐ ܬܬܠ ܫܢܬܐ ܠܥܝܢ̈ܝܟ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܢܘܡܬܐ ܠܓܒܝܢ̈ܝܟ
lgbynyk nwmth' l' 'p leynyk shnth' ththl wl'
Give no sleep to your eyes, nor slumber to your eyelids.

ܕܬܬܦܨܐ ܐܝܟ ܛܒܝܐ ܡܢ ܢܫܒܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܨܦܪܐ ܡܢ ܦܚܐ
pkh' mn tspr' w'yk nshb' mn Tby' 'yk dththpts'
Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

ܐܬܕܡܐ ܠܫܘܫܡܢܐ ܘܚܙܝ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܘܝܠܦ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܚܨܕܐ
khtsd' lh dlyth wylp 'wrkhthh wkhzy lshwshmn' 'thdm'
Go to the ant, you sluggard. Consider her ways, and be wise;

ܘܠܝܬ ܠܥܠ ܡܢܗ ܫܠܝܛܐ ܘܐܦ ܠܐ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܐܟܦ ܠܗ

which having no chief, overseer, or ruler,

ܘܡܛܝܒ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܩܝܛܐ ܠܚܡܗ ܘܩܦܣ ܒܚܨܕܐ ܡܐܟܘܠܬܗ
m'kwlthh bkhtsd' wqps lkhmh qyT' mn lh wmTyb
provides her bread in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest.

ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܡܬܝ ܕܡܟ ܐܢܬ ܚܒܢܢܐ ܐܡܬܝ ܡܢ ܫܢܬܟ ܬܩܘܡ
thqwm shnthk mn 'mthy khbnn' 'nth dmk l'mthy edm'
How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?

ܩܠܝܠ ܬܢܘܡ ܘܩܠܝܠ ܬܕܡܟ ܘܩܠܝܠ ܬܣܝܡ ܐܝܕܟ ܥܠ ܚܕܝܟ
khdyk el 'ydk thsym wqlyl thdmk wqlyl thnwm qlyl
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep—

ܬܐܬܐ ܥܠܝܟ ܡܣܟܢܘܬܐ ܘܬܕܪܟܟ ܨܪܝܟܘܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܓܒܪܐ ܟܫܝܪܐ
kshyr' gbr' 'yk tsrykwth' wthdrkk msknwth' elyk th'th'
so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.

ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ̈ ܣܟܠܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܡܗܠܟ ܒܥܫܝܩܘܬܐ
beshyqwth' mhlk ewl' gbr' skl' 'nsh' br
A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth,

ܪܡܙ ܒܥܝ̈ܢܘܗܝ ܘܬܟܣ ܒܪܓܠܗ ܘܪܡܙ ܒܨܒ̈ܥܬܗ
btsbethh wrmz brglh wthks beynwhy rmz
who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers,

ܘܡܬܗܦܟ ܒܠܒܗ ܘܚܫܠ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܘܫܓܫ ܒܝܬ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ
thryn byth wshgsh bklzbn byshth' wkhshl blbh wmthhpk
in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ ܢܐܬܐ ܬܒܪܗ ܘܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ ܢܬܬܒܪ ܘܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܐܣܝܘܬܐ
'sywth' lh thhw' wl' nththbr shly' wmn thbrh n'th' shly' mn hn' mTl
Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.

ܫܬ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܕܣܢܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܫܒܥ ܐܣܠܝܬ ܢܦܫܗ
npshh 'slyth wdshbe mry' dsn' 'nyn shth
There are six things which Yahweh hates; yes, seven which are an abomination to him:

ܥܝܢܐ ܪܡܬܐ ܘܠܫܢܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܘܐ̈ܝܕܝܐ ܕܐ̈ܫܕܢ ܕܡܐ ܙܟܝܐ
zky' dm' d'shdn w'ydy' dgl' wlshn' rmth' eyn'
arrogant eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

ܘܠܒܐ ܕܡܬܚܫܒ ܡܚ̈ܫܒܬܐ ܕܥܬܐ ܘܪܓܠܐ ܕܡܣܬܪܗܒܐ ܠܡܪܗܛ ܠܒܝܫܬܐ
lbyshth' lmrhT dmsthrhb' wrgl' deth' mkhshbth' dmthkhshb wlb'
a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,

ܘܣܗܕܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܕܡܡܠܠ ܟܕܒܘܬܐ ܘܠܕܪܡܐ ܒܝܬ ܐ̈ܚܐ
'kh' byth wldrm' kdbwth' dmmll dgl' wshd'
a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.

ܛܪ ܒܪܝ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܐܒܘܟ ܘܠܐ ܬܛܥܐ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܐܡܟ
d'mk nmws' thTe' wl' d'bwk pwqdn' bry Tr
My son, keep your father’s commandment, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching.

ܩܒܘܥ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܠܒܟ ܐܡܝܢܐܝܬ ܘܟܪܘܟ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܨܘܪܟ
btswrk 'nwn wkrwk 'myn'yth blbk 'nwn qbwe
Bind them continually on your heart. Tie them around your neck.

ܘܡܐ ܕܡܗܠܟ ܐܢܬ ܐܩܦ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܟ ܘܥܡܟ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܛܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܢܢܛܪܘܢܟ ܘܡܐ ܕܐܬܬܥܝܪܬ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܠܟ ܪܢܝܐ
rny' lk nhwwn hnwn d'ththeyrth wm' dnnTrwnk 'nwn Tr nhwwn wemk lk 'nwn 'qp 'nth dmhlk wm'
When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.

ܫܪܓܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܘܢܡܘܣܐ ܢܘܗܪܐ ܘܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܚ̈ܝܐ ܡܟܣܢܘܬܐ ܘܡܪܕܘܬܐ
wmrdwth' mksnwth' dkhy' w'wrkh' nwhr' wnmws' pwqdn' gyr hw shrg'
For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light. Reproofs of instruction are the way of life,

ܕܬܢܛܪܟ ܡܢ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܡܐܟܠ ܩܪܨܐ ܕܠܫܢܗ̇ ܕܢܘܟܪܝܬܐ
dnwkryth' dlshnh qrts' m'kl wmn byshth' 'nthth' mn dthnTrk
to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife’s tongue.

ܠܐ ܬܪܓ ܫܘܦܪܗ̇ ܒܠܒܟ ܘܠܐ ܬܬܨܝܕ ܒܥܝܢ̈ܝܗ̇ ܘܠܐ ܬܫܒܝܟ ܒܬܡܪ̈ܝܗ̇
bthmryh thshbyk wl' beynyh ththtsyd wl' blbk shwprh thrg l'
Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.

ܕܘܡܝܗ̇ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܢܬܬܐ ܙܢܝܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܓܪܝܨܬܐ ܕܠܚܡܐ ܘܐܢܬܬ ܓܒܪܐ ܢܦܫܐ ܝܩܝܪܬܐ ܨܝܕܐ
tsyd' yqyrth' npsh' gbr' w'nthth dlkhm' grytsth' 'yk znyth' d'nthth' gyr dwmyh
For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.

ܕܠܡܐ ܣܐܡ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܢܘܪܐ ܒܥܘܒܗ ܘܢܚ̈ܬܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܡܘܩܕ
mwqd l' wnkhthwhy bewbh nwr' brnsh' s'm dlm'
Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?

ܐܘ ܕܠܡܐ ܡܗܠܟ ܓܒܪܐ ܥܠ ܓܘܡܪ̈ܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ ܘܪ̈ܓܠܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܡܬ̈ܟܘܝܢ
mthkwyn l' wrglwhy dnwr' gwmr' el gbr' mhlk dlm' 'w
Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?

ܗܟܢܐ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܥܐܠ ܥܠ ܐܢܬܬ ܚܒܪܗ ܘܩܪܒ ܠܗ̇ ܠܐ ܢܙܟܐ
nzk' l' lh wqrb khbrh 'nthth el de'l mn hkn'
So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.

ܠܐ ܠܡܬܕܡܪܘ ܒܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܬܬܚܕ ܕܓܢܒ ܕܓܢܒ ܓܝܪ ܕܢܣܒܥ ܢܦܫܗ ܕܟܦܢܐ
dkpn' npshh dnsbe gyr dgnb dgnb dmththkhd b'yn' lmthdmrw l'
Men don’t despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry,

ܘܐܢ ܡܬܬܚܕ ܕܓܢܒ ܦܪܥ ܚܕ ܒܫܒܥܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܩܢܝܢܐ ܕܒܝܬܗ ܝܗܒ
yhb dbythh qnyn' wklh bshbe' khd pre dgnb mththkhd w'n
but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.

ܕܓܐܪ ܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܚܣܝܪ ܪܥܝܢܐ ܗܘ ܘܡܚܒܠ ܢܦܫܗ
npshh wmkhbl hw reyn' khsyr 'nthth' dyn dg'r
He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.

ܘܗܘܝܘ ܥܒ̇ܕ ܕܢܩܪܘܒ ܠܗ ܨܥܪܐ ܘܢܕܪܟܝܘܗܝ ܘܚܣܕܗ ܠܐ ܢܬܛܥܐ
nthTe' l' wkhsdh wndrkywhy tser' lh dnqrwb ebd whwyw
He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.

ܚܡܬܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܠܝܐ ܛܢܢܐ ܠܐ ܚܐܣ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܦܘܪܥܢܐ
dpwren' bywm' kh's l' Tnn' dmly' mTl dgbr' gyr khmthh
For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won’t spare in the day of vengeance.
