ברי נימוסי לא תנשי ופוקדני ינטר לבך:
lbk ynTr wpwqdny thnshy la nymwsy bry
My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,

מטול דנוגדא דיומתא ושניא דחיי ושלמא נוספון לך:
lk nwspwn wshlma dkhyy wshnya dywmtha dnwgda mTwl
for they will add to you length of days, years of life, and peace.

טיבותא וקושטא לא נשבקונך קטורנון בצורך וכתוב אנון על לוח דלבך:
dlbk lwkh el anwn wkthwb btswrk qTwrnwn nshbqwnk la wqwshTa Tybwtha
Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart.

ותשכח חסדא ושכלא וטיבותא קדם אלהא וקדם בני אנשא:
ansha bny wqdm alha qdm wTybwtha wshkla khsda wthshkkh
So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

סביר באלהא מן כלי לבך ועל ביונתא דלבך לא תסתמיך:
thsthmyk la dlbk bywntha wel lbk kly mn balha sbyr
Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding.

בכל ארחתך דעהו והוא יתרץ שבילך:
shbylk ythrts whwa dehw arkhthk bkl
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
7
לא תהי חכים באפך דחיל מן אלהא וסטא מן בישתא:
byshtha mn wsTa alha mn dkhyl bapk khkym thhy la
Don’t be wise in your own eyes. Fear Yahweh, and depart from evil.

אסיותא תהוי לכונשרך ודוהנא לגרמיך:
lgrmyk wdwhna lkwnshrk thhwy asywtha
It will be health to your body, and nourishment to your bones.
9
יקר לאלהך מן ממונך ומריש כלהון עללתך:
ellthk klhwn wmrysh mmwnk mn lalhk yqr
Honor Yahweh with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase;
10
ומתמלין אוצרך שבענא ומעצרתך חמרא נשפען:
nshpen khmra wmetsrthk shbena awtsrk wmthmlyn
so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.

ברי מרדותא דאלהא לא תסלא ולא תמריק במכסנותיה:
bmksnwthyh thmryq wla thsla la dalha mrdwtha bry
My son, don’t despise Yahweh’s discipline, neither be weary of his correction;
12
מטול דלמן דרחם ליה אלהא רדיה ליה והיך אבא דרדי לבריה:
lbryh drdy aba whyk lyh rdyh alha lyh drkhm dlmn mTwl
for whom Yahweh loves, he corrects, even as a father reproves the son in whom he delights.

טובוהי לבר נשא דאשכח חכמתא ובר נשא דמביע ביונתא:
bywntha dmbye nsha wbr khkmtha dashkkh nsha lbr Twbwhy
Happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding.

מטול דטבא תגרותה מן תגרותא דסימא ומן דהבא סנינא עללתה:
ellthh snyna dhba wmn dsyma thgrwtha mn thgrwthh dTba mTwl
For her good profit is better than getting silver, and her return is better than fine gold.

יקירא היא מן כיפי טבתא וכל מדעם לא פחים ליה:
lyh pkhym la mdem wkl Tbtha kypy mn hya yqyra
She is more precious than rubies. None of the things you can desire are to be compared to her.
16
נוגדא דיומתא בימינה ובשמאלה עותרא ויקרא:
wyqra ewthra wbshmalh bymynh dywmtha nwgda
Length of days is in her right hand. In her left hand are riches and honor.
17
ארחתהא ארחתא דבוסמא וכלהון הליכתהא שלמא:
shlma hlykthha wklhwn dbwsma arkhtha arkhthha
Her ways are ways of pleasantness. All her paths are peace.
18
אילנא דחיי היא לאלין דמתחזקין בה ואלין דמתעסקין בה טוביהון:
Twbyhwn bh dmthesqyn walyn bh dmthkhzqyn lalyn hya dkhyy aylna
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her. Happy is everyone who retains her.

אלהא בחכמתא שתאסיא ארעא ואתקין שמיא בביונה:
bbywnh shmya wathqyn area shthasya bkhkmtha alha
By wisdom Yahweh founded the earth. By understanding, he established the heavens.
20
בדעתיה תהומי אתבזיעו ושמיא צעי מטליא:
mTlya tsey wshmya athbzyew thhwmy bdethyh
By his knowledge, the depths were broken up, and the skies drop down the dew.
21
ברי לא נזל בעינך נטר מדעא ותרעיתא:
wthreytha mdea nTr beynk nzl la bry
My son, let them not depart from your eyes. Keep sound wisdom and discretion,
22
ויהוון חיי לנפשך וחסדא לצורך:
ltswrk wkhsda lnpshk khyy wyhwwn
so they will be life to your soul, and grace for your neck.
23
הידין תיזל בסברא בארחתך ורגלך לא תתקל:
ththql la wrglk barkhthk bsbra thyzl hydyn
Then you shall walk in your way securely. Your foot won’t stumble.
24
אם תשכוב ותדמוך לא תדחל ותשכב ותבסם שנתך:
shnthk wthbsm wthshkb thdkhl la wthdmwk thshkwb am
When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet.
25
לא תדחל מן דחליא ומן שליא ומן חיסא דרשיעי כד ייתי:
yythy kd drshyey khysa wmn shlya wmn dkhlya mn thdkhl la
Don’t be afraid of sudden fear, neither of the desolation of the wicked, when it comes;

מטול דאלהא יהי בסעדך וינטר רגלך ולא תתציד:
ththtsyd wla rglk wynTr bsedk yhy dalha mTwl
for Yahweh will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being taken.
27
לא תתכלי למעבד שפיר כד אית חילא בידך למעבד:
lmebd bydk khyla ayth kd shpyr lmebd ththkly la
Don’t withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in the power of your hand to do it.
28
לא תימר לחברך אזל ותוב ולמחר אתן ואית גבך:
gbk wayth athn wlmkhr wthwb azl lkhbrk thymr la
Don’t say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again; tomorrow I will give it to you,” when you have it by you.

לא תחשב על חברך בישתא והוא יתב עמך בשלוה:
bshlwh emk ythb whwa byshtha khbrk el thkhshb la
Don’t devise evil against your neighbor, since he dwells securely by you.
30
לא תנצי עם בר נשא מגן אם לא עבד לך בישא:
bysha lk ebd la am mgn nsha br em thntsy la
Don’t strive with a man without cause, if he has done you no harm.
31
לא תטן בגברא חטופא ולא תצבי בכלהון ארחתיה:
arkhthyh bklhwn thtsby wla khTwpa bgbra thTn la
Don’t envy the man of violence. Choose none of his ways.
32
מטול דמרחק עותא מן קדם יי ועם תריציא שועיתיה:
shweythyh thrytsya wem yy qdm mn ewtha dmrkhq mTwl
For the perverse is an abomination to Yahweh, but his friendship is with the upright.
33
לוטתא דאלהא בבתיהון דרשיעי ומעמדהון דצדיקי יברך:
ybrk dtsdyqy wmemdhwn drshyey bbthyhwn dalha lwTtha
Yahweh’s curse is in the house of the wicked, but he blesses the habitation of the righteous.

ולממקני נסחוף ולענוני יתן חסדא:
khsda ythn wlenwny nskhwp wlmmqny
Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble.
