מלוהי דלמואל מלכא נביותא ומרדותא דרדתיה אמיה ואמרת ליה:
lyh wamrth amyh drdthyh wmrdwtha nbywtha mlka dlmwal mlwhy
The words of King Lemuel—the revelation which his mother taught him:

וי ברי ווי בר כרסי ווי בר נדרי:
ndry br wwy krsy br wwy bry wy
“Oh, my son! Oh, son of my womb! Oh, son of my vows!

לא תתן לנשי חילך וארחתך לבנת מלכין:
mlkyn lbnth warkhthk khylk lnshy ththn la
Don’t give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
4
אזדהר מן מלכי למואל מן מלכי דשתין חמרא ומן שלטוני דשתין שכרא:
shkra dshthyn shlTwny wmn khmra dshthyn mlky mn lmwal mlky mn azdhr
It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’

לא תשתי ותטעי הונך ותשנא דינהון דכולהון בני עניי:
enyy bny dkwlhwn dynhwn wthshna hwnk wthTey thshthy la
lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the justice due to anyone who is afflicted.

הבון שכרא לאבלי וחמרא למרירי נפשא:
npsha lmryry wkhmra lably shkra hbwn
Give strong drink to him who is ready to perish, and wine to the bitter in soul.
7
ונשתון ונטעון מסכינתהון ושחקיהון לא נזכרון תוב:
thwb nzkrwn la wshkhqyhwn mskynthhwn wnTewn wnshthwn
Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.
8
פתח פומך להלין דלא מסטו דין ודון לכולהון בני עולי:
ewly bny lkwlhwn wdwn dyn msTw dla lhlyn pwmk pthkh
Open your mouth for the mute, in the cause of all who are left desolate.
9
פתח פומך ודון צדקתא ודון לעניי ולעליבי:
wlelyby lenyy wdwn tsdqtha wdwn pwmk pthkh
Open your mouth, judge righteously, and serve justice to the poor and needy.”

אתתא כשרתא מנו ישכח יקירא היא מן כיפי טבתא טימהא:
Tymha Tbtha kypy mn hya yqyra yshkkh mnw kshrtha aththa
Who can find a worthy woman? For her value is far above rubies.
11
דתכל עלה לביה דבעלה ולא מתבזא ולא חסרא:
khsra wla mthbza wla dbelh lbyh elh dthkl
The heart of her husband trusts in her. He shall have no lack of gain.
12
פרעתיה טבתא ולא בישתא כל יומי חיהא:
khyha ywmy kl byshtha wla Tbtha prethyh
She does him good, and not harm, all the days of her life.

תבעת עמרא וכתנא ועבדת היך צבינא דאידה:
daydh tsbyna hyk webdth wkthna emra thbeth
She seeks wool and flax, and works eagerly with her hands.

והות היך אלפת דתגרא דמן רחיק מיתיא מכלותא:
mklwtha mythya rkhyq dmn dthgra alpth hyk whwth
She is like the merchant ships. She brings her bread from afar.
15
וקמת בליליא ויהבת מזונא לביתה ופולחנא לטליתהא:
lTlythha wpwlkhna lbythh mzwna wyhbth blylya wqmth
She rises also while it is yet night, gives food to her household, and portions for her servant girls.

ואתחשבת בתרעיתא ונסבת חקלא ומן פרי דידהא נצבת כרמא:
krma ntsbth dydha pry wmn khqla wnsbth bthreytha wathkhshbth
She considers a field, and buys it. With the fruit of her hands, she plants a vineyard.
17
ואסרת בעושנא חרצהא וזרזת דרעהא:
dreha wzrzth khrtsha bewshna wasrth
She arms her waist with strength, and makes her arms strong.
18
וטעמת מטול דטבתא תגרותה ולא דעך בליליא שרגה:
shrgh blylya dek wla thgrwthh dTbtha mTwl wTemth
She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp doesn’t go out by night.
19
ידהא פשטא בכונשרא וידהא לבכין מעזלא:
mezla lbkyn wydha bkwnshra pshTa ydha
She lays her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
20
ידה פשטא לעניא ודרעיה מושיטא לעליבי:
lelyby mwshyTa wdreyh lenya pshTa ydh
She opens her arms to the poor; yes, she extends her hands to the needy.
21
לא ידחלון בני ביתה מן תלגא מטול דכולהון בני ביתה לבישין הוו זהוריתא:
zhwrytha hww lbyshyn bythh bny dkwlhwn mTwl thlga mn bythh bny ydkhlwn la
She is not afraid of the snow for her household, for all her household are clothed with scarlet.

תשויתא עבדת לה בוצא וארגונא לבושה:
lbwshh wargwna bwtsa lh ebdth thshwytha
She makes for herself carpets of tapestry. Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

ידיע הוה בינת מדינתא בעלה כד יתיב הוא עם סבי ארעא:
area sby em hwa ythyb kd belh mdyntha bynth hwh ydye
Her husband is respected in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land.
24
פתגא עבדת וזבנת וזונארא יהבית לכנענאה:
lknenah yhbyth wzwnara wzbnth ebdth pthga
She makes linen garments and sells them, and delivers sashes to the merchant.
25
עושנא והדרא לבושה וגחכא ביומא אחריתא:
akhrytha bywma wgkhka lbwshh whdra ewshna
Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.

פומה פתחת בחכמתא ונימוסא דחסדא על לישנה:
lyshnh el dkhsda wnymwsa bkhkmtha pthkhth pwmh
She opens her mouth with wisdom. Kind instruction is on her tongue.
27
וגלין ארחתא דביתה ולחמא חכיננות לא אכלא:
akla la khkynnwth wlkhma dbythh arkhtha wglyn
She looks well to the ways of her household, and doesn’t eat the bread of idleness.
28
קמו בנהא ויהבון לה טובא בעלה ומשבחה:
wmshbkhh belh Twba lh wyhbwn bnha qmw
Her children rise up and call her blessed. Her husband also praises her:

סגיען בנתא דקניי עתרא ואת עברת על כלהון:
klhwn el ebrth wath ethra dqnyy bntha sgyen
“Many women do noble things, but you excel them all.”
30
מטול דשקרא הוא חנא וסריק הוא שופרא אתתא דחלתיה דאלהא היא משתבחא:
mshthbkha hya dalha dkhlthyh aththa shwpra hwa wsryq khna hwa dshqra mTwl
Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain; but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised.
