מלוי דאגור בר יקה דקבל נביותא ואמר גברא לאיתיאל לאיתיאל ואוכל:
wawkl laythyal laythyal gbra wamr nbywtha dqbl yqh br dagwr mlwy
The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, the revelation: the man says to Ithiel, to Ithiel and Ucal:

מטול דבורא דבני נשא אנא דלא אית בי ביונא דבני נשא:
nsha dbny bywna by ayth dla ana nsha dbny dbwra mTwl
“Surely I am the most ignorant man, and don’t have a man’s understanding.

ולא יליפית חכמתא ולא ידעית ידיעתא דקדישי:
dqdyshy ydyetha ydeyth wla khkmtha ylypyth wla
I have not learned wisdom, neither do I have the knowledge of the Holy One.

מן סלק לשמיא ונחת מן אחד רוחא בחפנוי ומן צר מיא בשושיפא ומן אקים בריתא דארעא מן שמיה ומן שום בריה אין ידעת:
ydeth ayn bryh shwm wmn shmyh mn darea brytha aqym wmn bshwshypa mya tsr wmn bkhpnwy rwkha akhd mn wnkhth lshmya slq mn
Who has ascended up into heaven, and descended? Who has gathered the wind in his fists? Who has bound the waters in his garment? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is his son’s name, if you know?

כולהון מימרוי דאלהא צריפן ומסיע לאלין דמתרחצין ביה:
byh dmthrkhtsyn lalyn wmsye tsrypn dalha mymrwy kwlhwn
“Every word of God is flawless. He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

לא תוסף על מלוי דלא יכסנך ותתכדב:
wththkdb yksnk dla mlwy el thwsp la
Don’t you add to his words, lest he reprove you, and you be found a liar.

תרתין שאילת מנך לא תכלי מני עד לא אמות:
amwth la ed mny thkly la mnk shaylth thrthyn
“Two things I have asked of you. Don’t deny me before I die.

רגלתא ומלתא כדבותא ארחיק מני מסכנותא ועותרא לא תתן לי זוני לחמא מסתי:
msthy lkhma zwny ly ththn la wewthra msknwtha mny arkhyq kdbwtha wmltha rgltha
Remove far from me falsehood and lies. Give me neither poverty nor riches. Feed me with the food that is needful for me,

דלא אשבע ואכפר ואימר מנו אלהא ודלא אתמסכן ואגנוב ואחליל שמיה דאלהא:
dalha shmyh wakhlyl wagnwb athmskn wdla alha mnw waymr wakpr ashbe dla
lest I be full, deny you, and say, ‘Who is Yahweh?’ or lest I be poor, and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

לא תלשן עבדא למריה דלא נצערינך ותתחיב:
wththkhyb ntserynk dla lmryh ebda thlshn la
“Don’t slander a servant to his master, lest he curse you, and you be held guilty.
11
דרא דאבוהי נצער ולאמיה לא נברך:
nbrk la wlamyh ntser dabwhy dra
There is a generation that curses their father, and doesn’t bless their mother.

דרא דדכי בעינוי ומצאתיה לא אשתזג:
ashthzg la wmtsathyh beynwy ddky dra
There is a generation that is pure in their own eyes, yet are not washed from their filthiness.

דרא דרמו עינוי וגבינוי מנטלין:
mnTlyn wgbynwy eynwy drmw dra
There is a generation, oh how lofty are their eyes! Their eyelids are lifted up.

דרא דספסרי אינון שינוי וחריפי אנון ניבוי למיכל מסכני מארעא ולעליבי מן בני נשא:
nsha bny mn wlelyby marea mskny lmykl nybwy anwn wkhrypy shynwy aynwn dspsry dra
There is a generation whose teeth are like swords, and their jaws like knives, to devour the poor from the earth, and the needy from among men.

לעלוקא תרתין בנין הב הב תלת אינון דלא שבען וארבע דלא אמרן מסתא:
mstha amrn dla warbe shben dla aynwn thlth hb hb bnyn thrthyn lelwqa
“The leech has two daughters: ‘Give, give.’ “There are three things that are never satisfied; four that don’t say, ‘Enough!’:

שיול ואחדת רחמי וארעא לא שבעא מיא ונורא לא אמרה מסתא:
mstha amrh la wnwra mya shbea la warea rkhmy wakhdth shywl
Sheol, the barren womb, the earth that is not satisfied with water, and the fire that doesn’t say, ‘Enough!’

עינא דמצריא לאב ושיטא קשישותא דאמא נחצוניה עורבי דנחלא ויסמון יתיה בני נשרא:
nshra bny ythyh wysmwn dnkhla ewrby nkhtswnyh dama qshyshwtha wshyTa lab dmtsrya eyna
“The eye that mocks at his father, and scorns obedience to his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the young eagles shall eat it.

תלת אינון דגניזן מני וארבע דלא ידעית אינון:
aynwn ydeyth dla warbe mny dgnyzn aynwn thlth
“There are three things which are too amazing for me, four which I don’t understand:

ארחא דנשרא בשמיא ואורחיה דחויא על שועא ואורחא דאלפא בלבי דימא וארחא דגברא בעולמתא:
bewlmtha dgbra warkha dyma blby dalpa wawrkha shwea el dkhwya wawrkhyh bshmya dnshra arkha
The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship in the middle of the sea, and the way of a man with a maiden.

היכנא ארחא דאתתא גירתא אכלא ומכפרה פומה ואמרה לא עבדית מדעם רעתא:
retha mdem ebdyth la wamrh pwmh wmkprh akla gyrtha daththa arkha hykna
“So is the way of an adulterous woman: She eats and wipes her mouth, and says, ‘I have done nothing wrong.’

תחות תלת רוגזא ארעא ותחות ארבע לא יכלא למסברא:
lmsbra ykla la arbe wthkhwth area rwgza thlth thkhwth
“For three things the earth trembles, and under four, it can’t bear up:

תחות עבדא כד נמלוך וטפשא דישבע לחמא:
lkhma dyshbe wTpsha nmlwk kd ebda thkhwth
For a servant when he is king, a fool when he is filled with food,
23
תחות שנואתא דהויא לגברא ואמתא די ירתא לרבונתה:
lrbwnthh yrtha dy wamtha lgbra dhwya shnwatha thkhwth
for an unloved woman when she is married, and a servant who is heir to her mistress.
24
ארבעא אנון דזעירין בארעא והנון חכימין ומחכמין:
wmkhkmyn khkymyn whnwn barea dzeyryn anwn arbea
“There are four things which are little on the earth, but they are exceedingly wise:
25
שומשמני לא עשין עמהון ומתקנין בקיטא מיכלהון:
myklhwn bqyTa wmthqnyn emhwn eshyn la shwmshmny
The ants are not a strong people, yet they provide their food in the summer.
26
וחנסי דעמהון לא תקיף ועבדין להון ביתא בקתרין:
bqthryn bytha lhwn webdyn thqyp la demhwn wkhnsy
The hyraxes are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks.
27
וקמצי דמלכא לית להון ומתכנשין כלהון כחדא:
kkhda klhwn wmthknshyn lhwn lyth dmlka wqmtsy
The locusts have no king, yet they advance in ranks.
28
ואקמתא דמסככא בידהא ועמדא בביתא דמלכי:
dmlky bbytha wemda bydha dmskka waqmtha
You can catch a lizard with your hands, yet it is in kings’ palaces.

תלתא אנון דשפירן הליכתהון וארבעא דשפיר מהלכין:
mhlkyn dshpyr warbea hlykthhwn dshpyrn anwn thltha
“There are three things which are stately in their march, four which are stately in going:

אריא גבר בבעירא ולא הפיך מן כל מדעם:
mdem kl mn hpyk wla bbeyra gbr arya
The lion, which is mightiest among animals, and doesn’t turn away for any;
31
ואככא דמזדרז בינת תרנגולי ותישא דאזל בית גיורא ומלכא דקאם וממלל בית עממיה:
emmyh byth wmmll dqam wmlka gywra byth dazl wthysha thrngwly bynth dmzdrz wakka
the greyhound; the male goat; and the king against whom there is no rising up.

לא תתרורם דלא תטפש ולא תושיט אידך לפומך:
lpwmk aydk thwshyT wla thTpsh dla ththrwrm la
“If you have done foolishly in lifting up yourself, or if you have thought evil, put your hand over your mouth.
