ܐܝܟ ܬܦܐ ܕܡ̈ܝܐ ܠܒܗ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܒܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܐܬܪ ܕܨܒܐ ܡܪܟܢ ܠܗ
lh mrkn dtsb' wl'thr d'lh' b'ydwhy dmlk' lbh dmy' thp' 'yk
The king’s heart is in Yahweh’s hand like the watercourses. He turns it wherever he desires.

ܟܠܗܝܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܬܪ̈ܝܨܢ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܒܥܝܢ̈ܝ ܢܦܫܗ ܘܡܪܝܐ ܡܬܩܢ ܠܒܐ
lb' mthqn wmry' npshh beyny 'nyn thrytsn dgbr' 'wrkhthh klhyn
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the hearts.

ܡ̇ܢ ܕܥܒܕ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܕܝܢܐ ܓܒܐ ܗܘ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܡܢ ܕܒܚܬܐ
dbkhth' mn lmry' hw gb' wdyn' zdyqwth' debd mn
To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to Yahweh than sacrifice.

ܪܘܡܐ ܕܥܝ̈ܢܐ ܘܪܘܚܬܐ ܕܠܒܐ ܘܫܪܓܐ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܚܛܝܬܐ
khTyth' dewl' wshrg' dlb' wrwkhth' deyn' rwm'
A high look and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, is sin.

ܡܚܫ̈ܒܬܗ ܕܓܒܝܐ ܡܗܝ̈ܡܢܢ ܘܕܒܝܫܐ ܡܚܣܪ̈ܢ
mkhsrn wdbysh' mhymnn dgby' mkhshbthh
The plans of the diligent surely lead to profit; and everyone who is hasty surely rushes to poverty.

ܡܥܒܕܢܘܬܐ ܕܣܝܡܬܐ ܒܠܫܢܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܘܠܐܒܕܢܐ ܢܣܬܚܦܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܒܥܝܢ ܠܡܘܬܐ
lmwth' dbeyn 'ylyn nsthkhpwn wl'bdn' dgl' blshn' dsymth' mebdnwth'
Getting treasures by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor for those who seek death.

ܬܒܪܐ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܢܐܬܐ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܠܐ ܨܒܘ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܕܝܢܐ
dyn' lmebd tsbw dl' el elyhwn n'th' dewl' thbr'
The violence of the wicked will drive them away, because they refuse to do what is right.

ܕܗܦܟ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܓܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܢܘܟܪܝܐ ܘܐܝܢܐ ܕܕܟܐ ܬܪ̈ܝܨܝܢ ܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ
ebdwhy thrytsyn ddk' w'yn' nwkry' hw gbr' 'wrkhh dhpk
The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.

ܦܩܚ ܠܡܬܒ ܥܠ ܩܪܢܐ ܕܐܓܪܐ ܡܢ ܕܠܡܥܡܪ ܥܡ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܢܨܝܬܐ

It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop than to share a house with a contentious woman.

ܢܦܫܗ ܕܥܘܠܐ ܠܐ ܡܬܚܙܝܐ ܒܥܝܢ̈ܝ ܚܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ
khbrwhy beyny mthkhzy' l' dewl' npshh
The soul of the wicked desires evil; his neighbor finds no mercy in his eyes.

ܘܒܬܘܟܗ ܕܒܝܫܐ ܡܬܚܟܡ ܫܒܪܐ ܘܚܟܝܡܐ ܒܬܪܥܝܬܗ ܡܩܒܠ ܝܕܥܬܐ
ydeth' mqbl bthreythh wkhkym' shbr' mthkhkm dbysh' wbthwkh
When the mocker is punished, the simple gains wisdom. When the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

ܡܣܬܟܠ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܠܒܗܘܢ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܘܕܚܩ ܠܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܠܒܝܫܬܐ
lbyshth' lewl' wdkhq dewl' lbhwn zdyq' msthkl
The Righteous One considers the house of the wicked, and brings the wicked to ruin.

ܕܡܣܟܪ ܐ̈ܕܢܘܗܝ ܕܠܐ ܢܫܡܥ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܗܘ ܢܩܪܐ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܥܢܝܘܗܝ
nenywhy wl' l'lh' nqr' hw 'p lmskn' nshme dl' 'dnwhy dmskr
Whoever stops his ears at the cry of the poor, he will also cry out, but shall not be heard.

ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܕܒܛܘܫܝܐ ܡܦܪܩܐ ܪܘܓܙܐ ܘܕܚܐܣ ܠܡܬܠ ܡܥܝܪ ܪܘܓܙܐ

A gift in secret pacifies anger, and a bribe in the cloak, strong wrath.

ܚܕܘܬܗ ܕܙܕܝܩܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܬ̇ܒܪܐ ܠܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܝ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ
ewl' lebdy wthbr' dyn' ebd' dzdyq' khdwthh
It is joy to the righteous to do justice; but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܛܥܐ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܣܘܟܠܐ ܥܡ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܪܥܐ ܢܬܬܢܚ

The man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall rest in the assembly of the departed spirits.

ܓܒܪܐ ܕܚܣܝܪ ܠܗ ܘܪܚܡ ܚܕܘܬܐ ܘܚܡܪܐ ܘܒܣܡܐ ܠܐ ܢܥܬܪ
nethr l' wbsm' wkhmr' khdwth' wrkhm lh dkhsyr gbr'
He who loves pleasure will be a poor man. He who loves wine and oil won’t be rich.

ܬܚܠܘܦܗ ܕܙܕܝܩܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܘܚܠܦ ܬܪܝܨܐ ܕܓܠܐ
dgl' thryts' wkhlp ewl' dzdyq' thkhlwph
The wicked is a ransom for the righteous, the treacherous for the upright.

ܛܒ ܠܡܬܒ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܕܡܕܒܪܐ ܡܢ ܕܠܡܥܡܪ ܥܡ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܢܨܝܬܐ ܘܡܪܓܙܢܝܬܐ
wmrgznyth' ntsyth' 'nthth' em dlmemr mn dmdbr' b're' lmthb Tb
It is better to dwell in a desert land, than with a contentious and fretful woman.

ܣܝܡܬܐ ܪܓܝܓܬܐ ܘܡܫܚܐ ܒܕܝܪܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܣܘܟܠܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܢܒܠܥܝܗ̇
nbleyh 'nsh' dbny wswkl' khkmth' bdyr' wmshkh' rgygth' symth'
There is precious treasure and oil in the dwelling of the wise, but a foolish man swallows it up.

ܕܒܥܐ ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܚܝ̈ܐ ܘܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܘܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ
wthshbwkhth' wzdyqwth' khy' mshkkh wTybwth' zdyqwth' dbe'
He who follows after righteousness and kindness finds life, righteousness, and honor.

ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܓܢܒܪ̈ܐ ܣܠܩ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܘܟܒܫ ܚܣܢܐ ܕܬܘܟܠܢܗ̇
dthwklnh khsn' wkbsh khkym' slq dgnbr' lmdynth'
A wise man scales the city of the mighty, and brings down the strength of its confidence.

ܕܢܛܪ ܦܘܡܗ ܘܠܫܢܗ ܢܛܪ ܢܦܫܗ ܡܢ ܐܘܠܨܢܐ
'wltsn' mn npshh nTr wlshnh pwmh dnTr
Whoever guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from troubles.

ܡܪܚܐ ܕܥܫܝܢ ܫܡܗ ܥܒܕ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܒܐܟܬܗ
b'kthh ewl' ebd shmh deshyn mrkh'
The proud and arrogant man—“Scoffer” is his name— he works in the arrogance of pride.

ܪܓܬܗ ܕܚܒܢܢܐ ܩܛܠܐ ܠܗ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܕܢܥܒ̈ܕܢ ܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ
ebd' 'ydwhy dnebdn tsb' dl' mTl lh qTl' dkhbnn' rgthh
The desire of the sluggard kills him, for his hands refuse to labor.

ܘܟܠܗ ܝܘܡܐ ܪܐܓ ܪܓܬܐ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܝܗܒ ܘܠܐ ܚܐܣ
kh's wl' yhb zdyq' rgth' r'g ywm' wklh
There are those who covet greedily all day long; but the righteous give and don’t withhold.

ܘܕܒܚܐ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܛܡܐ ܗܘ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܡܝܬܝܢ ܠܗ

The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination— how much more, when he brings it with a wicked mind!

ܣܗܕܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܢܐܒܕ ܘܓܒܪܐ ܫܡܘܥܐ ܬܪܝܨܐܝܬ ܡܡܠܠ
mmll thryts'yth shmwe' wgbr' n'bd dgl' shd'
A false witness will perish. A man who listens speaks to eternity.

ܚܨ̈ܝܦܢ ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܘܐܝܢܐ ܕܬܪܝܨ ܗܘ ܡܬܩܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ
dnpshh 'wrkhth' mthqn hw dthryts w'yn' ewl' dgbr' 'pwhy khtsypn
A wicked man hardens his face; but as for the upright, he establishes his ways.

ܠܝܬ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܣܘܟܠܐ ܘܐܦ ܠܐ ܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܪܝܐ
dmry' 'yk threyth' l' w'p swkl' l' 'p khkmth' lyth
There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against Yahweh.
