ܥܫܝܢ ܗܘ ܚܡܪܐ ܘܪܘܝܘܬܐ ܡܨܥܪܢܝܐ ܘܟܠ ܕܡܫܬܪܚ ܒܗ ܠܐ ܗܘ̣ܐ ܚܟܝܡ
khkym hw' l' bh dmshthrkh wkl mtserny' wrwywth' khmr' hw eshyn
Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

ܢܗܡ ܐܝܟ ܐܪܝܐ ܪܘܓܙܗ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܕܡܚܡܬ ܠܗ ܚܛܐ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܗ
npshh el khT' lh wdmkhmth dmlk' rwgzh 'ry' 'yk nhm
The terror of a king is like the roaring of a lion. He who provokes him to anger forfeits his own life.

ܬܫܒܘܚܬܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܡܐ ܕܡܦܪܩ ܚܪܝܢܐ ܘܟܠ ܕܣܟܠ ܡܡܝܩ
mmyq dskl wkl khryn' dmprq m' dgbr' thshbwkhthh
It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife, but every fool will be quarreling.

ܡܬܚܣܕ ܚܒܢܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܫܬܩ ܘܫܐܠ ܒܚܨܕܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܡ̈ܝܐ
my' wlyth bkhtsd' wsh'l shthq wl' khbnn' mthkhsd
The sluggard will not plow by reason of the winter; therefore he shall beg in harvest, and have nothing.

ܥܡܝܩܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܒܠܒܗ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܓܒܪܐ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܢܕܠܝܗ̇
ndlyh khkym' wgbr' dmlk' blbh mlth' emyq'
Counsel in the heart of man is like deep water, but a man of understanding will draw it out.

ܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܒ̈ܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܡܬܩܪ̈ܝܢ ܓܒܪ̈ܐ ܡܪ̈ܚܡܢܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܡܢܘ ܡܫܟܚ
mshkkh mnw mhymn' dyn gbr' mrkhmn' gbr' mthqryn 'nsh' dbny swg''
Many men claim to be men of unfailing love, but who can find a faithful man?

ܙܕܝܩܐ ܕܡܗܠܟ ܒܬܡܝܡܘܬܐ ܛܘܒܝܗܘܢ ܠܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܡܢ ܒܬܪܗ
bthrh mn lbnwhy Twbyhwn bthmymwth' dmhlk zdyq'
A righteous man walks in integrity. Blessed are his children after him.

ܡܠܟܐ ܝܬܒ ܥܠ ܟܘܪܣܝܐ ܕܕܝܢܐ ܘܡܬܒܕܪ̈ܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܒܝܫܬ̈ܐ
byshth' klhyn qdmwhy mn wmthbdrn ddyn' kwrsy' el ythb mlk'
A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.

ܡ̇ܢ ܢܐܡܪ ܕܙ̇ܟܝ ܐܢܬ ܠܒܝ ܘܐܬܕܟܝܬ ܡܢ ܚ̈ܛܗܐ
khTh' mn w'thdkyth lby 'nth dzky n'mr mn
Who can say, “I have made my heart pure. I am clean and without sin”?

ܡܬܩܠܐ ܘܡܬܩܠܐ ܟܝܠܐ ܘܟܝܠܬܐ ܡܣܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܬܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ
thryhwn mry' qdm 'nwn mslyn wkylth' kyl' wmthql' mthql'
Differing weights and differing measures, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.

ܐܦ ܒܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܡܬܝܕܥ ܛܠܝܐ ܐܢ ܕܟܐ ܗܘ ܘܐܢ ܬܪ̈ܝܨܝܢ ܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ
ebdwhy thrytsyn w'n hw dk' 'n Tly' mthyde bebdwhy 'p
Even a child makes himself known by his doings, whether his work is pure, and whether it is right.

ܐܕܢܐ ܕܫܡܥܐ ܘܥܝܢܐ ܕܚܙܝܐ ܡܪܝܐ ܥܒ̣ܕ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ
'nyn ebd mry' dkhzy' weyn' dshme' 'dn'
The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, Yahweh has made even both of them.

ܠܐ ܬܪܚܡ ܫܢܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܬܡܣܟܢ ܐܠܐ ܦܬܚ ܥܝܢ̈ܝܟ ܘܣܒܥ ܠܚܡܐ
lkhm' wsbe eynyk pthkh 'l' ththmskn dl' shnth' thrkhm l'
Don’t love sleep, lest you come to poverty. Open your eyes, and you shall be satisfied with bread.

ܪܚܡܐ ܢܐܡܪ ܠܚܒܪܗ ܕܩܢܝܬ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܢܫܬܒܚ
nshthbkh whydyn dqnyth lkhbrh n'mr rkhm'
“It’s no good, it’s no good,” says the buyer; but when he is gone his way, then he boasts.

ܘܢܐܡܪ ܕܐܝܬ ܕܗܒܐ ܘܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܛܒ̈ܬܐ ܘܡܐ̈ܢܐ ܝܩܝܪ̈ܐ ܘܣ̈ܦܘܬܐ ܕܝܕܥܬܐ
dydeth' wspwth' yqyr' wm'n' Tbth' dk'p' wswg'' dhb' d'yth wn'mr
There is gold and abundance of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a rare jewel.

ܢܣܒܘ ܡܪܛܘܛܗ ܕܡ̇ܢ ܕܥܪܒ ܠܢܘܟܪܝܐ ܘܥܠ ܐ̈ܦܝ ܢܘܟܪ̈ܝܐ ܢܣܒܘ ܡܫܟܢܗ
mshknh nsbw nwkry' 'py wel lnwkry' derb dmn mrTwTh nsbw
Take the garment of one who puts up collateral for a stranger; and hold him in pledge for a wayward woman.

ܥܪܒ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܒܠܚܡܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܘܒܬܪ ܗܝܕܝܢ ܢܬܡܠܐ ܦܘܡܗ ܚ̈ܨܨܐ
khtsts' pwmh nthml' hydyn wbthr dgl' blkhm' lgbr' erb
Fraudulent food is sweet to a man, but afterwards his mouth is filled with gravel.

ܡܚܫܒܬܐ ܒܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܡܬܩܢܐ ܘܒܓܘܪܓܐ ܡܬܥܒܕ ܩܪܒܐ
qrb' mthebd wbgwrg' mthqn' bthreyth' mkhshbth'
Plans are established by advice; by wise guidance you wage war!

ܕܓܠܐ ܐܪܙܐ ܐܟܠܩܪܨܐ ܘܕܡܗܝܡܢ ܒܪܘܚܗ ܟܣܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܥܡ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܡܣܪ̈ܗܒܢ ܣ̈ܦܘܬܗ ܠܐ ܬܬܚܠܛ
ththkhlT l' spwthh dmsrhbn mn wem mlth' ks' brwkhh wdmhymn 'klqrts' 'rz' dgl'
He who goes about as a tale-bearer reveals secrets; therefore don’t keep company with him who opens wide his lips.

ܕܠܐܛ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܠܐܡܗ ܢܕܥܟ ܫܪܓܗ ܐܝܟ ܒܒܬܐ ܚܫܘܟܬܐ
khshwkth' bbth' 'yk shrgh ndek wl'mh l'bwhy dl'T
Whoever curses his father or his mother, his lamp shall be put out in blackness of darkness.

ܝܪܬܘܬܐ ܕܡܣܪܗܒܐ ܒܩܕܡܝܬܗ̇ ܒܐܚܪܝܬܗ̇ ܠܐ ܬܬܒܪܟ
ththbrk l' b'khrythh bqdmythh dmsrhb' yrthwth'
An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning won’t be blessed in the end.

ܠܐ ܬܐܡܪ ܕܐܦܪܘܥ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܣܟܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܕܢܦܪܩܟ
dnprqk lmry' sk' 'l' byshth' d'prwe th'mr l'
Don’t say, “I will pay back evil.” Wait for Yahweh, and he will save you.

ܛܡܐܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܬܩ̈ܠܐ ܘܡܬ̈ܩܠܐ ܘܡܣܐ̈ܬܐ ܕܢܟܠܐ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ̈ܢ
shpyrn l' dnkl' wms'th' wmthql' mthql' mry' qdm 'nwn Tm'yn
Yahweh detests differing weights, and dishonest scales are not pleasing.

ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܗ̈ܠܟܬܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܘܐܝܢܘ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܢܬܩܢ ܐܘܪܚܗ
'wrkhh dnthqn brnsh' w'ynw dgbr' hlkthh mry' mn
A man’s steps are from Yahweh; how then can man understand his way?

ܦܚܐ ܗܘ ܠܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܢܕܪ ܠܩܘܕܫܐ ܘܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܢܕܪ ܬܘܝܐ ܠܗ ܢܦܫܗ

It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication, then later to consider his vows.

ܡܒܕܪ ܠܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܡܠܟܐ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܘܡܗܦܟ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܓܝܓܠܐ
gygl' elyhwn wmhpk khkym' mlk' lewl' mbdr
A wise king winnows out the wicked, and drives the threshing wheel over them.

ܫܪܓܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܢܫܡܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܘܒܨܝܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܬܘ̈ܢܐ ܕܟܪܣܐ
dkrs' thwn' klhwn wbtsy' 'nsh' dbny hy nshmth' dmry' shrgh
The spirit of man is Yahweh’s lamp, searching all his innermost parts.

ܛܝܒܘܬܐ ܘܩܘܫܬܐ ܢܛܪܝܢ ܠܡܠܟܐ ܘܡܬܩܢ ܟܘܪܣܝܗ ܒܛܝܒܘܬܐ
bTybwth' kwrsyh wmthqn lmlk' nTryn wqwshth' Tybwth'
Love and faithfulness keep the king safe. His throne is sustained by love.

ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܕܓܕܘ̈ܕܐ ܚܝܠܗܘܢ ܘܗܕܪܐ ܕܩܫܝ̈ܫܐ ܣܝܒܘܬܐ

The glory of young men is their strength. The splendor of old men is their gray hair.
