ברי אין תקבל מלי ופוקדני תטשי גביך:
gbyk thTshy wpwqdny mly thqbl ayn bry
My son, if you will receive my words, and store up my commandments within you,

ותצלי אדנך לחכמתא ותפני לבא לביונא:
lbywna lba wthpny lkhkmtha adnk wthtsly
so as to turn your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding;

ואמא לביוננותא תקרא ולביונא תתן קלך:
qlk ththn wlbywna thqra lbywnnwtha wama
yes, if you call out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding;
4
ותבעי היך סימא היך סימתא תצביה:
thtsbyh symtha hyk syma hyk wthbey
if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures;

הידין תתבין דחלתיה דאלהא וידיעתא מן קדם אלהא תשכח:
thshkkh alha qdm mn wydyetha dalha dkhlthyh ththbyn hydyn
then you will understand the fear of Yahweh, and find the knowledge of God.

מטול דאלהא יהב חכמתא מן פומיה ידיעתא וביונא:
wbywna ydyetha pwmyh mn khkmtha yhb dalha mTwl
For Yahweh gives wisdom. Out of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

יטשי לתריצי שבהור ומסיע לאילן דמהלכין בלא מום:
mwm bla dmhlkyn layln wmsye shbhwr lthrytsy yTshy
He lays up sound wisdom for the upright. He is a shield to those who walk in integrity,

למנטור ארחתא דדינא וארחתא דצדיקין ננטר:
nnTr dtsdyqyn warkhtha ddyna arkhtha lmnTwr
that he may guard the paths of justice, and preserve the way of his saints.

הידין תתבין צדקתא ודינא ותריצותא דכל שבלי שפירי:
shpyry shbly dkl wthrytswtha wdyna tsdqtha ththbyn hydyn
Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.

ארי תעול חכמתא ללבך וידיעתא לנפשך יבסם:
ybsm lnpshk wydyetha llbk khkmtha thewl ary
For wisdom will enter into your heart. Knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

תרעיתא תנטור עלך ביונתא תנצרך:
thntsrk bywntha elk thnTwr threytha
Discretion will watch over you. Understanding will keep you,

די תתפצי מן ארחא בישא ומן גברא דממלל מפרכיתא:
mprkytha dmmll gbra wmn bysha arkha mn ththptsy dy
to deliver you from the way of evil, from the men who speak perverse things,
13
דשבקין ארחתא תריצתא ואזלין בארחתא דחשוכא:
dkhshwka barkhtha wazlyn thrytstha arkhtha dshbqyn
who forsake the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness,
14
דחדין למעבד ביש ודיצין בהופכא דבישתא:
dbyshtha bhwpka wdytsyn bysh lmebd dkhdyn
who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the perverseness of evil,
15
דארחתהון מעקמן ומפתלין שביליהון:
shbylyhwn wmpthlyn meqmn darkhthhwn
who are crooked in their ways, and wayward in their paths,
16
דתתפצי מן אתתא חילוניתא מנוכריתא דמלהא חלין:
khlyn dmlha mnwkrytha khylwnytha aththa mn dththptsy
to deliver you from the strange woman, even from the foreigner who flatters with her words,
17
דשבקה מרביתא דטליותהא וקימא דאלהא טעת:
Teth dalha wqyma dTlywthha mrbytha dshbqh
who forsakes the friend of her youth, and forgets the covenant of her God;
18
דבעמקא דמותא ביתה ולגבריא הלכתא דשבילהא:
dshbylha hlktha wlgbrya bythh dmwtha dbemqa
for her house leads down to death, her paths to the departed spirits.
19
כל דעילן לא חזרין בשלם ולא צידין ארחתא דחיי:
dkhyy arkhtha tsydyn wla bshlm khzryn la deyln kl
None who go to her return again, neither do they attain to the paths of life.
20
בדיל הלך בארחתא דטבי ושבילי דצדיקי תנטור:
thnTwr dtsdyqy wshbyly dTby barkhtha hlk bdyl
Therefore walk in the way of good men, and keep the paths of the righteous.
21
מטול דתריצי עמדין בארעא ואלין דלא מום משתותרין בה:
bh mshthwthryn mwm dla walyn barea emdyn dthrytsy mTwl
For the upright will dwell in the land. The perfect will remain in it.
