ܛܒ ܗܘ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܕܡܗܠܟ ܒܬܡܝܡܘܬܐ ܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܕܡܥܩ̈ܡܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ
'wrkhthh dmeqmn ethyr' mn ythyr bthmymwth' dmhlk mskn' hw Tb
Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than he who is perverse in his lips and is a fool.

ܡ̇ܢ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܢܦܫܗ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܠܗ ܘܕܩܠܝܠ ܒܪ̈ܓܠܘܗܝ ܚܛܐ
khT' brglwhy wdqlyl lh shpyr l' npshh yde dl' mn
It isn’t good to have zeal without knowledge, nor being hasty with one’s feet and missing the way.

ܫܛܝܘܬܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܡܥܩܡܐ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܘܥܠ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܬܪܥܡ ܒܠܒܗ
blbh mthrem mry' wel 'wrkhthh meqm' dgbr' shTywthh
The foolishness of man subverts his way; his heart rages against Yahweh.

ܩܢܝܢܐ ܡܘܣܦ ܪ̈ܚܡܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܘܡܣܟܢܐ ܦܪܫ ܡܢ ܪ̈ܚܡܘܗܝ
rkhmwhy mn prsh wmskn' sgy'' rkhm' mwsp qnyn'
Wealth adds many friends, but the poor is separated from his friend.

ܣܗܕܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܚܣܐ ܘܕܡܡܠܠ ܕܓܠܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܦܨܐ
nthpts' l' dglwth' wdmmll nthkhs' l' dgl' shd'
A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who pours out lies shall not go free.

ܣ̈ܓܝܐܐ ܕܡܫܡܫܝܢ ܩܕܡ ܪܒܐ ܘܠܕܒܝܫ̈ܝܢ ܝܗܒ ܡܘܗ̈ܒܬܐ
mwhbth' yhb wldbyshyn rb' qdm dmshmshyn sgy''
Many will entreat the favor of a ruler, and everyone is a friend to a man who gives gifts.

ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐ̈ܚܘܗܝ ܕܡܣܟܢܐ ܣܢܝܢ ܠܗ ܘܐܦ ܪ̈ܚܡܘܗܝ ܪ̈ܚܝܩܝܢ ܡܢܗ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܛܪܟܢ ܒܡ̈ܠܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܫܪܝܪ
shryr l' bmlwhy dTrkn 'yn' mnh rkhyqyn rkhmwhy w'p lh snyn dmskn' 'khwhy klhwn
All the relatives of the poor shun him; how much more do his friends avoid him! He pursues them with pleas, but they are gone.

ܘܕܩܢܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܪܚܡ ܢܦܫܗ ܕܢܛܪ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܛܒܬܐ
Tbth' mshkkh hymnwth' dnTr npshh rkhm khkmth' wdqn'
He who gets wisdom loves his own soul. He who keeps understanding shall find good.

ܘܣܗܕܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܚܣܐ ܘܕܡܡܠܠ ܕܓܠܘܬܐ ܢܐܒܕ
n'bd dglwth' wdmmll nthkhs' l' dgl' wshd'
A false witness shall not be unpunished. He who utters lies shall perish.

ܠܐ ܝܐܐ ܠܣܟܠܐ ܦܘܢܩܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܠܥܒ̣ܕܐ ܕܢܫܬܠܛ ܒܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ

Delicate living is not appropriate for a fool, much less for a servant to have rule over princes.

ܣܘܟܠܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܢܓܝܪܘܬ ܪܘܚܗ ܗܝ ܘܬܫܒܘܚܬܗ ܡܥܒܪܐ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ
ewl' mebr' wthshbwkhthh hy rwkhh ngyrwth dgbr' swklh
The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger. It is his glory to overlook an offense.

ܢܗܡ ܐܝܟ ܐܪܝܐ ܪܘܓܙܗ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܛܠܐ ܥܠ ܥܣܒܐ ܨܒܝܢܗ
tsbynh esb' el Tl' w'yk dmlk' rwgzh 'ry' 'yk nhm
The king’s wrath is like the roaring of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

ܒܗܬܬܐ ܗܘ ܠܐܒܐ ܒܪܐ ܣܟܠܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܕܠܦܐ ܕܢܛܦ ܪܢܝܗ̇ ܕܐܢܬܬܐ
d'nthth' rnyh dnTp dlp' w'yk skl' br' l'b' hw bhthth'
A foolish son is the calamity of his father. A wife’s quarrels are a continual dripping.

ܒܝܬܐ ܘܩܢܝܢܐ ܝܘܪܬܢܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܒܐ ܘܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܡܬܡܟܪܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܠܓܒܪܐ
lgbr' 'nthth' mthmkr' hw mry' wmn d'b' hw ywrthn' wqnyn' byth'
House and riches are an inheritance from fathers, but a prudent wife is from Yahweh.

ܢܘܡܬܐ ܝܗܒܐ ܫܢܬܐ ܘܢܦܫܐ ܪܡܬܐ ܬܟܦܢ
thkpn rmth' wnpsh' shnth' yhb' nwmth'
Slothfulness casts into a deep sleep. The idle soul shall suffer hunger.

ܕܢܛܪ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܡܙܕܗܪ ܒܢܦܫܗ ܘܕܫܐܛ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܢܬܩܛܠ

He who keeps the commandment keeps his soul, but he who is contemptuous in his ways shall die.

ܕܡܬ̇ܠܘܐ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܡܪܚܡ ܥܠ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܥ̇ܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܡܬܦܪܥ
mthpre ebdwhy w'yk mskn' el mrkhm lmry' dmthlw'
He who has pity on the poor lends to Yahweh; he will reward him.

ܪܕܝ ܒܪܟ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܝܬ ܣܒܪܐ ܘܠܨܥܪܗ ܠܐ ܬܪܡܐ ܢܦܫܟ

Discipline your son, for there is hope; don’t be a willing party to his death.

ܓܒܪܐ ܚܡܬܢܐ ܡܩܒܠ ܬܘܟܐ ܘܟܡܐ ܕܡܥܠܐ ܥܠ ܛܥܢܗ ܡܘܣܦ
mwsp Tenh el dmel' wkm' thwk' mqbl khmthn' gbr'
A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty, for if you rescue him, you must do it again.

ܫܡܥ ܡܠ̣ܟܐ ܘܩܒܠ ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܬܬܚܟܡ ܒܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܟ
b'wrkhthk dththkhkm 'yk mrdwth' wqbl mlk' shme
Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter end.

ܣ̈ܓܝܐܢ ܡܚܫ̈ܒܬܐ ܒܠܒܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܘܬܪܥܝܬܐ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܬܬܩܝܡ

There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail.

ܪܓܬܗ ܕܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܛܝܒܘܬܗ ܘܛܒ ܗܘ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܡܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܕܡܕܓܠ
dmdgl ethyr' gbr' mn mskn' hw wTb Tybwthh 'nsh' dbr rgthh
That which makes a man to be desired is his kindness. A poor man is better than a liar.

ܕܚܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܠܚ̈ܝܐ ܘܡ̇ܢ ܕܣܒܥܗ̇ ܢܒܘܬ ܘܠܐ ܢܦܩܘܕ ܒܝܫܬܐ

The fear of Yahweh leads to life, then contentment; he rests and will not be touched by trouble.

ܚܒܢܢܐ ܕܡܛܫܐ ܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܒܥܘܒܗ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܠܦܘܡܗ ܢܩܪܒ ܐܢܝ̈ܢ
'nyn nqrb lpwmh l' 'p bewbh 'ydwhy dmTsh' khbnn'
The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.

ܣܟܠܐ ܡܐ ܕܡܬܢܓܕ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܡܙܕܗܪ ܘܐܢ ܬܟܣ ܠܚܟܝܡܐ ܡܣܬܟܠ ܝܕܥܬܐ
ydeth' msthkl lkhkym' thks w'n mzdhr khkym' dmthngd m' skl'
Flog a scoffer, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke one who has understanding, and he will gain knowledge.

ܕܒܐܙ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܡܥܝܩ ܠܐܡܗ ܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܡܒܗܬܢܐ ܘܡܚܦܪܢܐ
wmkhprn' mbhthn' hw br' l'mh wmeyq l'bwhy db'z
He who robs his father and drives away his mother is a son who causes shame and brings reproach.

ܦܘܫ ܒܪܝ ܘܫܡܥ ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܛܥܐ ܡܐܡܪܐ ܕܝܕܥܬܐ
dydeth' m'mr' thTe' wl' mrdwth' wshme bry pwsh
If you stop listening to instruction, my son, you will stray from the words of knowledge.

ܣܗܕܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܡܥܫܢ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܦܘܡܗ ܕܥܘܠܐ ܡܛܒܥ ܠܗ

A corrupt witness mocks justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down iniquity.
