ܘܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܠܥܘܡܩܐ ܕܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܐܬܝܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܫܛܝܘܬܐ ܘܨܥܪܐ ܘܚܣܕܐ

When wickedness comes, contempt also comes, and with shame comes disgrace.

ܡ̈ܝܐ ܥܡ̈ܝܩܐ ܡ̈ܠܝ ܦܘܡܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܘܢܚܠܐ ܕܢܒܥ ܡܒܘܥܐ ܕܚܟܡܬܐ

The words of a man’s mouth are like deep waters. The fountain of wisdom is like a flowing brook.

ܠܡܣܒ ܒܐ̈ܦܐ ܕܥܘܠܐ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܠܡܨܠܐ ܕܝܢܐ ܥܠ ܙܕܝܩܐ

To be partial to the faces of the wicked is not good, nor to deprive the innocent of justice.

ܣ̈ܦܘܬܗ ܕܣܟܠܐ ܥܐ̈ܠܢ ܒܕܝܢܐ ܘܦܘܡܗ ܡܡܛܐ ܠܗ ܠܡܘܬܐ

ܦܘܡܗ ܕܣܟܠܐ ܬܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܠܢܦܫܗ ܘܒܣ̈ܦܘܬܗ ܨܐܕ ܢܦܫܗ

A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

ܡ̈ܠܘܗܝ ܕܚܒܢܢܐ ܪ̈ܡܝܢ ܠܗ ܒܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܗ̈ܢܝܢ ܡܚ̈ܬܢ ܠܗ ܠܬܘ̈ܢܐ ܕܫܝܘܠ

The words of a gossip are like dainty morsels: they go down into a person’s innermost parts.

ܘܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܪܦܐ ܐ̈ܝܕܘܗܝ ܒܥ̇ܒܕܗ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܗܘ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܡܚܒܠܢܐ
w'yn' dmrp' 'ydwhy bebdh 'khwhy hw dgbr' mkhbln'
One who is slack in his work is brother to him who is a master of destruction.

ܡܓܕܠܐ ܗܘ ܥܫܝܢܐ ܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܘܠܗ ܢܪܗܛ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܘܥܫܝܢܐ

Yahweh’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.

ܐܝܩܪܐ ܘܥܘܬܪܐ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܕܥܘܫܢܗ ܘܒܫܘܪܐ ܥܫܝܢܐ ܡܫܪܝܗ
'yqr' wewthr' mdynth' dewshnh wbshwr' eshyn' mshryh
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, like an unscalable wall in his own imagination.

ܩܕܡ ܬܒܪܐ ܢܬܬܪܝܡ ܠܒܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܘܩܕܡ ܐܝܩܪܐ ܡܘܟܟܐ

Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility.

ܕܝܗܒ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܥܕܠܐ ܢܫܡܥ ܣܟܠܐ ܗܘ ܘܡܚܣܕܐ

He who answers before he hears, that is folly and shame to him.

ܪܘܚܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܡܣܝܒܪܐ ܚܫܗ ܘܪܘܚܐ ܡܟܐܒܬܐ ܡ̇ܢ ܢܣܝܒܪܝܗ̇

A man’s spirit will sustain him in sickness, but a crushed spirit, who can bear?

ܠܒܐ ܬܩܢܐ ܩܢܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܐܕܢܐ ܚܟܝܡܬܐ ܨܝܬܐ ܝܕܥܬܐ
lb' thqn' qn' khkmth' w'dn' khkymth' tsyth' ydeth'
The heart of the discerning gets knowledge. The ear of the wise seeks knowledge.

ܡܘܗ̈ܒܬܐ ܕܒܪܢܫܐ ܡܪ̈ܘܚܢ ܠܗ ܘܩܕܡ ܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܡܩܝ̈ܡܢ ܠܗ
mwhbth' dbrnsh' mrwkhn lh wqdm rwrbn' mqymn lh
A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.

ܙܟܝ ܗܘ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܒܕܝܢܗ ܘܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܚܒܪܗ ܒܕܩ ܠܗ

He who pleads his cause first seems right— until another comes and questions him.

ܦܨܬܐ ܫܪܝܐ ܚܪܝܢܐ ܘܒܝ̈ܢܬ ܥ̈ܫܝܢܐ ܦܪܫܐ
ptsth' shry' khryn' wbynth eshyn' prsh'
The lot settles disputes, and keeps strong ones apart.

ܐܚܐ ܕܡܬܥܕܪ ܡܢ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܐܝܟ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܡܢ ܚܣܢܗ̇ ܘܐ̈ܚܕܝܗ̇ ܐܝܟ ܣܘܟܪܐ ܕܚܣܢܐ
'kh' dmthedr mn 'khwhy 'yk mdynth' mn khsnh w'khdyh 'yk swkr' dkhsn'
A brother offended is more difficult than a fortified city. Disputes are like the bars of a fortress.

ܡܢ ܦܐܪ̈ܝ ܦܘܡܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܬܣܒܥ ܟܪܣܗ ܘܥ̈ܠܠܬܐ ܕܣ̈ܦܘܬܗ ܢܣܒܥ

A man’s stomach is filled with the fruit of his mouth. With the harvest of his lips he is satisfied.

ܡܘܬܐ ܘܚ̈ܝܐ ܒܝܕ ܠܫܢܐ ܗܘ ܘܕܪܚܡ ܠܗ ܢܐܟܘܠ ܡܢ ܦܐܪ̈ܘܗܝ

Death and life are in the power of the tongue; those who love it will eat its fruit.

ܕܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܡܩܒܠ ܨܒܝܢܐ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܡܦܩ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܡܦܩ ܛܒܬܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬܗ

Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of Yahweh.

ܡܣܟܢܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܪ̈ܟܝܟܬܐ ܘܥܬܝܪܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܥܫܝ̈ܢܬܐ

The poor plead for mercy, but the rich answer harshly.

ܐܝܬ ܪ̈ܚܡܐ ܕܪ̈ܚܡܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܝܬ ܪܚܡܐ ܕܢܩܦ ܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܐܚܐ

A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
