ܛܒ ܗܘ ܠܚܡܐ ܝܒܝܫܐ ܒܫܠܝܐ ܛܒ ܡܢ ܒܝܬܐ ܕܡܠܐ ܕܒܚ̈ܐ ܕܕܝܢܐ
ddyn' dbkh' dml' byth' mn Tb bshly' ybysh' lkhm' hw Tb
Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife.

ܥܒ̣ܕܐ ܣܟܘܠܬܢܐ ܢܫܬܠܛ ܒܒܪܐ ܡܒܗܬܢܐ ܘܒܝ̈ܢܬ ܐ̈ܚܐ ܢܦܠܓ ܝܘܪܬܢܐ
ywrthn' nplg 'kh' wbynth mbhthn' bbr' nshthlT skwlthn' ebd'
A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who causes shame, and shall have a part in the inheritance among the brothers.

ܨܪܦܐ ܒܩܐ ܠܣܐܡܐ ܘܟܘܪܐ ܠܕܗܒܐ ܘܡܪܝܐ ܒܚܪ ܠܒܐ
lb' bkhr wmry' ldhb' wkwr' ls'm' bq' tsrp'
The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold, but Yahweh tests the hearts.

ܓܒܪܐ ܒܝܫܐ ܨܐܬ ܠܣ̈ܦܘܬܐ ܕܥܢ̈ܬܐ ܘܙܕܝܩܐ ܠܐ ܫܡܥ ܠܠܫܢܐ ܕܥܢ̈ܬܐ
denth' llshn' shme l' wzdyq' denth' lspwth' ts'th bysh' gbr'
An evildoer heeds wicked lips. A liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue.

ܕܓܚܟ ܥܠ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܡܪܓܙ ܠܒܪܝܗ ܘܕܚܕܐ ܠܬܒܪܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܚܣܐ
nthkhs' l' lthbr' wdkhd' lbryh mrgz mskn' el dgkhk
Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker. He who is glad at calamity shall not be unpunished.

ܟܠܝܠܐ ܕܣ̈ܒܐ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܒܢ̈ܝܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܕܒܢ̈ܝܐ ܐ̈ܒܗܝܗܘܢ
'bhyhwn dbny' wthshbwkhth' 'nwn bny' bny dsb' klyl'
Children’s children are the crown of old men; the glory of children is their parents.

ܠܐ ܝܐܝܐ ܠܣܟܠܐ ܣܦܬܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܬܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܠܙܕܝܩܐ ܣܦܬܐ ܕܓܠܬܐ

Excellent speech isn’t fitting for a fool, much less do lying lips fit a prince.

ܟܐܦܐ ܕܪ̈ܚܡ̣ܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܗܝ ܒܥܝܢ̈ܝ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܕܝܠܗ ܗܝ ܘܠܐܬܪ ܕܡܬܦܢܝܐ ܣܘܟܠܐ ܗܝ

A bribe is a precious stone in the eyes of him who gives it; wherever he turns, he prospers.

ܕܡܟܣܐ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܒܥܐ ܪܚܡܘܬܐ ܘܕܣܢܐ ܠܡܟܣܘ ܡܢ ܪܚܡܐ ܘܥܡܘܪܐ ܦܪܫ
prsh wemwr' rkhm' mn lmksw wdsn' rkhmwth' be' ewl' dmks'
He who covers an offense promotes love; but he who repeats a matter separates best friends.

ܠܘܚܡܐ ܫܚܩ ܠܒܗ ܕܚܟܝܡܐ ܘܚܠܦ ܟܐܬܐ ܡܬܢܓܕ ܣܟܠܐ ܘܠܐ ܪܓܫ

A rebuke enters deeper into one who has understanding than a hundred lashes into a fool.

ܓܒܪܐ ܚܪܝܝܐ ܒܥܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܡܫܬܕܪ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܕܪ̈ܚܡ̣ܝܢ ܠܝܬ ܠܗ
lh lyth drkhmyn ml'k' elwhy wmshthdr byshth' be' khryy' gbr'
An evil man seeks only rebellion; therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.

ܢܦܠ ܪܢܝܐ ܘܕܚܠܬܐ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܘܠܣܟܠܐ ܒܫܛܝܘܬܗ

Let a bear robbed of her cubs meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.

ܕܦܪܥ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܚܠܦ ܛܒܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܥܢܕ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܬܗ
bythh mn byshth' thend l' Tbth' khlp byshth' dpre
Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.

ܕܐܫܕ ܕܡܐ ܕܝܢܐ ܡܓܪܓ ܩܕܡ ܫܠܝܛܐ
shlyT' qdm mgrg dyn' dm' d'shd
The beginning of strife is like breaching a dam, therefore stop contention before quarreling breaks out.

ܕܡܙܟܐ ܠܥܘܠܐ ܘܡܚܝܒ ܠܙܕܝܩܐ ܛܡܐ ܗܘ ܩܕܡ ܡܪܝܐ
mry' qdm hw Tm' lzdyq' wmkhyb lewl' dmzk'
He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to Yahweh.

ܠܡܢܐ ܐܙܠ ܠܗ ܩܢܝܢܐ ܠܣܟܠܐ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܠܒܐ ܠܡܩܢܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ

Why is there money in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, since he has no understanding?

ܒܟܠ ܙܒܢ ܪܚܡܐ ܪܚܝܡ ܗܘ ܘܐܚܐ ܠܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܡܬܝܠܕ
mthyld l'wltsn' w'kh' hw rkhym rkhm' zbn bkl
A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.

ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܣܟܠܐ ܡܫܠܡ ܐܝܕܗ ܕܥܪܒ ܠܚܒܪܗ ܥܪܒܘܬܐ
erbwth' lkhbrh derb 'ydh mshlm skl' 'nsh' br
A man void of understanding strikes hands, and becomes collateral in the presence of his neighbor.

ܕܪܚܡ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܪܚܡ ܥܬܐ ܘܗܪܬܐ ܘܕܡܪܝܡ ܬܪܥܗ ܒܥܐ ܬܒܪܐ ܠܢܦܫܗ
lnpshh thbr' be' threh wdmrym whrth' eth' rkhm ewl' drkhm
He who loves disobedience loves strife. One who builds a high gate seeks destruction.

ܕܥܫܝܩ ܠܒܗ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܕܗܦܟ ܠܫܢܗ ܢܦܠ ܒܒܝܫܬܐ

One who has a perverse heart doesn’t find prosperity, and one who has a deceitful tongue falls into trouble.

ܕܡܘܠܕ ܣܟܠܐ ܠܒܗܬܬܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܘܠܐ ܢܚܕܐ ܒܗ ܐܒܘܗܝ
'bwhy bh nkhd' wl' dnpshh lbhthth' skl' dmwld
He who becomes the father of a fool grieves. The father of a fool has no joy.

ܠܒܐ ܚܕܝܐ ܡܫܦܪ ܓܘܫܡܐ ܘܪܘܚܐ ܕܟܝܒܐ ܡ̇ܝܒܫܐ ܓܪ̈ܡܐ

A cheerful heart makes good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

ܡ̇ܢ ܕܢܣܒ ܫܘܚܕܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܗܘ ܨܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܕܝܢܐ
ddyn' 'wrkh' gyr tsl' hw ewl' shwkhd' dnsb mn
A wicked man receives a bribe in secret, to pervert the ways of justice.

ܐ̈ܦܘܗܝ ܕܣܟܘܠܬܢܐ ܚܝܪ̈ܢ ܒܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܥܝܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܣܟܠܐ ܒ̈ܥܘܡܩܝܗ̇ ܕܐܪܥܐ
d're' bewmqyh dskl' weynwhy bkhkmth' khyrn dskwlthn' 'pwhy
Wisdom is before the face of one who has understanding, but the eyes of a fool wander to the ends of the earth.

ܡܪܓܙ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܒܪܐ ܣܟܠܐ ܘܡܡܪ ܠܝܠܕܬܗ
lyldthh wmmr skl' br' l'bwhy mrgz
A foolish son brings grief to his father, and bitterness to her who bore him.

ܠܡܬܟ ܠܙܕܝܩܐ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܠܡܡܚܐ ܠܙܕܝܩ̈ܐ ܕܐܡܪ̈ܝܢ ܬܪ̈ܝܨܬܐ
thrytsth' d'mryn lzdyq' lmmkh' l' 'p shpyr l' lzdyq' lmthk
Also to punish the righteous is not good, nor to flog officials for their integrity.

ܕܚܣܟ ܡ̈ܠܘܗܝ ܝܕܥ ܝܕܥܬܐ ܘܕܢܓܝܪܐ ܪܘܚܗ ܓܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܚܟܝܡܐ
khkym' hw gbr' rwkhh wdngyr' ydeth' yde mlwhy dkhsk
He who spares his words has knowledge. He who is even tempered is a man of understanding.
