מן בר נש תרעיתא דלבא ומן יי ממללא דלישנא:
dlyshna mmlla yy wmn dlba threytha nsh br mn
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from Yahweh.

כלהון ארחתיה דגברא דכין אנון בעינוי ואלהא מתקן ארחתיה:
arkhthyh mthqn walha beynwy anwn dkyn dgbra arkhthyh klhwn
All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but Yahweh weighs the motives.

גלי לאלהא עובדך ומתקנן מחשבתך:
mkhshbthk wmthqnn ewbdk lalha gly
Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed.

כלהון עובדין דאלהא לאלין דמשתמעין ליה ורשיעא ליומא בישא:
bysha lywma wrshyea lyh dmshthmeyn lalyn dalha ewbdyn klhwn
Yahweh has made everything for its own end— yes, even the wicked for the day of evil.

מרחקתיה דאלהא כל דרם בלביה מן בישתא לא נדכי:
ndky la byshtha mn blbyh drm kl dalha mrkhqthyh
Everyone who is proud in heart is an abomination to Yahweh; they shall certainly not be unpunished.

בטיבותא וקושטא מתכפר סורחנא ודחלתיה דאלהא מסטי מן בישתא:
byshtha mn msTy dalha wdkhlthyh swrkhna mthkpr wqwshTa bTybwtha
By mercy and truth iniquity is atoned for. By the fear of Yahweh men depart from evil.

כד אתרעי אלהא בארחתיה דגברא אף לבעלי דבבוי נשלים ליה:
lyh nshlym dbbwy lbely ap dgbra barkhthyh alha athrey kd
When a man’s ways please Yahweh, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

טב קליל בצדקתא מן סגיעא דעללתא דלא בדינא:
bdyna dla delltha sgyea mn btsdqtha qlyl Tb
Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues with injustice.

לביה דבר נשא מחשב ארחתיה ואלהא מתקן הלכתיה:
hlkthyh mthqn walha arkhthyh mkhshb nsha dbr lbyh
A man’s heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps.

קסמא על שפותיה דמלכא ובדינא לא נדגול פומיה:
pwmyh ndgwl la wbdyna dmlka shpwthyh el qsma
Inspired judgments are on the lips of the king. He shall not betray his mouth.

רגיא ומסחא דתריצותא מן קדם אלהא ועובדוי כולהון מתקלי דקושטא:
dqwshTa mthqly kwlhwn wewbdwy alha qdm mn dthrytswtha wmskha rgya
Honest balances and scales are Yahweh’s; all the weights in the bag are his work.

מרחקתיה דמלכין דעבדין רשעא מטול דבצדקותא תקין כורסיא:
kwrsya thqyn dbtsdqwtha mTwl rshea debdyn dmlkyn mrkhqthyh
It is an abomination for kings to do wrong, for the throne is established by righteousness.

רעותיה דמלכא שפותא דצדקתא ומלתא דתרצי רחם:
rkhm dthrtsy wmltha dtsdqtha shpwtha dmlka rewthyh
Righteous lips are the delight of kings. They value one who speaks the truth.

חמתיה דמלכא מלאכי דמותא אנון וגברא חכימא נדעכניה:
ndeknyh khkyma wgbra anwn dmwtha mlaky dmlka khmthyh
The king’s wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will pacify it.

בנהורא דפרצופיה דמלכא חיי וצביוניה היך עננא בברירותא:
bbryrwtha enna hyk wtsbywnyh khyy dmlka dprtswpyh bnhwra
In the light of the king’s face is life. His favor is like a cloud of the spring rain.

דקני חכמתא טבא ליה מן דהבא סנינא ודקני ביונא טב מן סניא גביא:
gbya snya mn Tb bywna wdqny snyna dhba mn lyh Tba khkmtha dqny
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! Yes, to get understanding is to be chosen rather than silver.

שבילא דתריצי מסטי מן בישתא ודמזהר נפשיה נטר ארחיה:
arkhyh nTr npshyh wdmzhr byshtha mn msTy dthrytsy shbyla
The highway of the upright is to depart from evil. He who keeps his way preserves his soul.

קדם תברא גותנותא וקדם תקלא רמת רוחא:
rwkha rmth thqla wqdm gwthnwtha thbra qdm
Pride goes before destruction, and an arrogant spirit before a fall.

טב הוא שפל רוח וענונא מן הוא דמפליג עדיתא עם גיותני:
gywthny em edytha dmplyg hwa mn wenwna rwkh shpl hwa Tb
It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor, than to divide the plunder with the proud.
20
דמסתכל במלתא ישכח טבתא ודמסבר באלהא טובוהי:
Twbwhy balha wdmsbr Tbtha yshkkh bmltha dmsthkl
He who heeds the Word finds prosperity. Whoever trusts in Yahweh is blessed.

חכים לבא יתקרי סוכלתנא ודחלין ספותיה מוסיף אולפנא:
awlpna mwsyp spwthyh wdkhlyn swklthna ythqry lba khkym
The wise in heart shall be called prudent. Pleasantness of the lips promotes instruction.

מבוע דחיי סוכלא דמריה ומרדותיה דשטיי שטיותא:
shTywtha dshTyy wmrdwthyh dmryh swkla dkhyy mbwe
Understanding is a fountain of life to one who has it, but the punishment of fools is their folly.

לבא דחכימא מסתכל פומיה ובשפותוהי מוסיף אולפנא:
awlpna mwsyp wbshpwthwhy pwmyh msthkl dkhkyma lba
The heart of the wise instructs his mouth, and adds learning to his lips.

כבריתא דדובשא מאמרא דבוסמא חליותא דנפשא ואסותא לגרמי:
lgrmy waswtha dnpsha khlywtha dbwsma mamra ddwbsha kbrytha
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

אית ארחא דמתחזיא בעניי בני נשא דתריצא היא וסופה ארחתא דמותא אנון:
anwn dmwtha arkhtha wswph hya dthrytsa nsha bny benyy dmthkhzya arkha ayth
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

נפש דלעיא לעותה תסובר דמן פומא אתי לה כיפא:
kypa lh athy pwma dmn thswbr lewthh dleya npsh
The appetite of the laboring man labors for him, for his mouth urges him on.

גברא טלומא חפר בישתא ובשפותיה נורא יהבא זליקי:
zlyqy yhba nwra wbshpwthyh byshtha khpr Tlwma gbra
A worthless man devises mischief. His speech is like a scorching fire.

גברא מהפכנא יגרי תגרי וחרתנא מעריק רחמיה:
rkhmyh meryq wkhrthna thgry ygry mhpkna gbra
A perverse man stirs up strife. A whisperer separates close friends.

גברא חטופא משרגג חבריה מוביל ליה בארחא דלא שפירא:
shpyra dla barkha lyh mwbyl khbryh mshrgg khTwpa gbra
A man of violence entices his neighbor, and leads him in a way that is not good.

רמז בעינוי וחשב הפכתא גזים בשפותיה וגמר בישתא:
byshtha wgmr bshpwthyh gzym hpktha wkhshb beynwy rmz
One who winks his eyes to plot perversities, one who compresses his lips, is bent on evil.

כלילא דשבהירא סיבותא בארחא דצדקתא משתכחא:
mshthkkha dtsdqtha barkha sybwtha dshbhyra klyla
Gray hair is a crown of glory. It is attained by a life of righteousness.

טב נגיד אפי רוחא מן גברא ודמכביש נפשיה טב מן הוא דאחד מדינתא:
mdyntha dakhd hwa mn Tb npshyh wdmkbysh gbra mn rwkha apy ngyd Tb
One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
