Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.

ܕܡܗܠܟ ܒܬܪܝܨܘܬܐ ܕܚܠ ܡܢ ܡܪܝܐ ܘܕܥܫܝܩ ܒܐܘܪܚܗ ܫܐܛ ܠܗ

He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.

ܒܦܘܡܗ ܕܣܟܠܐ ܙܩܬܐ ܘܨܥܪܐ ܘܣ̈ܦܘܬܗܘܢ ܕܚ̈ܟܝܡܐ ܢܢܛܪ̈ܢ ܐܢܘܢ
bpwmh dskl' zqth' wtser' wspwthhwn dkhkym' nnTrn 'nwn
The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.

ܐܬܪ ܕܠܝܬ ܬܘܪ̈ܐ ܕܟܝܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܘܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܥ̈ܠܠܬܐ ܒܚܝܠܗ ܕܬܘܪܐ
'thr dlyth thwr' dkyn 'wrwth' wswg'' dellth' bkhylh dthwr'
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

ܣܗܕܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܬܟܕܒ ܘܕܡܡܠܠ ܟܕܒܘܬܐ ܣܗܕܐ ܗܘ ܕܓܠܐ

A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.

ܒܝܫܐ ܒܥܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܠܐ ܢܫܟܚܝܗ̇ ܘܝܕܥܬܐ ܠܣܟܘܠܬܢܐ ܫܟܝܚܐ

A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.

ܠܓܒܪܐ ܣܟܠܐ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܣܩܘܒܠܐ ܗܘ ܠܗ ܘܙܝܢܐ ܕܝܕܥܬܐ ܣܦܘ̈ܬܐ ܕܚܟܝ̈ܡܐ

Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.

ܥܪܝܡܐ ܒܚܟܡܬܗ ܡܣܬܟܠ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܘܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܣ̈ܟܠܐ ܒܛܥܝܘܬܐ

The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

ܒܬ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܬܪܝܨܐܝܬ ܒܥܝܢ ܕܘܟܝܐ ܘܒܬ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܕܙܕܝܩ̈ܐ ܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܣ̈ܟܠܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܚ̈ܛܗܐ ܘܒܢ̈ܝ ܬܪ̈ܝܨܐ ܨܒܝܢܐ
bthyhwn dewl' thryts'yth beyn dwky' wbthyhwn dzdyq' mqblyn skl' ebdyn khTh' wbny thryts' tsbyn'
Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.

ܠܒܐ ܝܕܘܥܬܢܐ ܟܪܝܘܬܐ ܗܘ ܠܢܦܫܗ ܘܒܚܕܘܬܗ ܠܐ ܢܬܚܠܛ ܢܘܟܪܝܐ

The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.

ܒܝܬܐ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܢܐܒܕ ܘܡܫܟܢܐ ܕܬܪ̈ܝܨܐ ܢܪܘܙ

The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

ܐܝܬ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܣܒܪܝܢ ܒܢܝ̈ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܬܪܝܨܐ ܗܝ ܘܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ̇ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܐ ܐ̈ܢܝܢ ܕܡܘܬܐ
'yth 'wrkh' dsbryn bny 'nsh' dthryts' hy w'wrkhthh 'wrkhth' 'nyn dmwth'
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

ܐܦ ܒܓܘܚܟܐ ܢܟܐܒ ܠܒܐ ܘܚܪܬܐ ܕܚܕܘܬܗ ܐܘܢܬܐ

Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.

ܡܢ ܐܘܪ̈ܚܬܗ ܢܣܒܥ ܡ̇ܢ ܕܡܪܚ ܒܠܒܗ ܘܓܒܪܐ ܛܒܐ ܢܣܒܥ ܡܢ ܕܚܠܬܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ

The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.

ܫܒܪܐ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܠܟܠ ܡܠܐ ܘܥܪܝܡܐ ܦܪܫ ܛܒ ܡܢ ܒܝܫ

A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.

ܚܟܝܡܐ ܕܚܠ ܘܣܛܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܣܟܠܐ ܡܬܚܠܛ ܒܗ̇ ܬܟܝܠܐܝܬ

A wise man fears and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.

ܩܠܝܠܐ ܟܘܠ ܕܥܒܕ ܠܐ ܡܬܡܠܟ ܘܓܒܪܐ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܪܡܝܣ

He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.

ܝܪ̈ܬܝܢ ܣ̈ܟܠܐ ܫܛܝܘܬܐ ܘܥܪ̈ܝܡܐ ܡܦܠܓܝܢ ܝܕܥܬܐ

The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

ܢܦܠܘܢ ܒܝܫ̈ܐ ܩܕܡ ܛܒ̈ܐ ܘܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܢܐܬܘܢ ܠܬܪܥܗ ܕܙܕܝܩܐ

The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

ܐܦ ܠܚܒܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܣܢܐ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܪ̈ܚܡܘܗܝ ܕܥܬܝܪܐ ܣ̈ܓܝܐܝܢ
'p lkhbrwhy sn' mskn' wrkhmwhy dethyr' sgy'yn
The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many friends.

ܕܫܐܛ ܠܚܒܪܗ ܚܛܐ ܘܕܡܪܚܡ ܥܠ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܛܘܒܘܗܝ

He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.

ܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܛܥܝܢ ܕܥܒܕܝܢ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܘܡܪ̈ܚܡܢܐ ܘܙܕܝܩ̈ܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܛܒ̈ܬܐ ܥܒ̈ܕܝ ܒܝܫ̈ܬܐ ܪ̈ܚܡ̣ܐ ܘܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܢܣܬܟܠܘܢ ܡܪܚܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܘܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܥܡ ܥܒ̈ܕܝ ܛܒ̈ܬܐ ܗܝ
ewl' Teyn debdyn byshth' wmrkhmn' wzdyq' ebdyn klhyn Tbth' ebdy byshth' rkhm' whymnwth' l' nsthklwn mrkhmnwth' dyn whymnwth' em ebdy Tbth' hy
Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.

ܒܟܠ ܕܝܨܦ ܐܢܬ ܚܕܐ ܗܝ ܕܡܘܬܪܐ ܘܐܝܢܐ ܕܒܨܝܪ ܒܥܘܡܪܗ ܢܝܚܐ ܘܒܣܝܡܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܟܠ ܟܐܒ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܐܣܐ ܘܡܡܠܠܐ ܕܣ̈ܦܘܬܗܘܢ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܡܚܣܪ ܠܗܘܢ

In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.

ܟܠܝܠܐ ܕܚ̈ܟܝܡܐ ܥܘܬܪܗܘܢ ܘܗܘܦܟܐ ܕܣܟ̈ܠܐ ܫܛܝܘܬܗܘܢ

The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.

ܡܦܨܐ ܢܦܫ̈ܬܐ ܣܗܕܐ ܕܩܘܫܬܐ ܘܡܡܠܠ ܢܟܠܐ ܣܗܕܐ ܕܓܠܐ

In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.

ܕܚܠܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܡܒܘܥܐ ܗܝ ܕܚ̈ܝܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܣܛܝܢ ܡܢ ܦܚ̈ܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ

The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.

ܒܥܡܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܗܕܝܪ ܡܠܟܐ ܘܒܣܘܦܗ ܕܥܡܐ ܡܬܬܒܪ ܡܠܟܐ

In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.

ܕܢܓܝܪܐ ܪܘܚܗ ܣܓܝ ܚܟܝܡ ܘܕܟܪܝܐ ܪܘܚܗ ܛܒ ܣܟܠ

The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.

ܕܕܒܪ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܒܝܫ ܒܝܫ ܡܪܓܙ ܠܡ̇ܢ ܕܥܒܕܗ ܘܕܡܝܩܪ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܡܪܚܡ ܥܠ ܡܣ̈ܟܢܐ

He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

ܒܒܝܫܘܬܗ ܡܣܬܚܦ ܥܘܠܐ ܘܕܬܟܝܠ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܚ̈ܛܗܐ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܗܘ

The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.

ܒܠܒܐ ܕܟܐ̈ܢܐ ܬܫܪܐ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܘܒܠܒܐ ܕܣ̈ܟܠܐ ܠܐ ܬܬܝܕܥ

Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.

ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܬܪܡܪܡ ܠܥܡܐ ܘܡܙܥܪܝܢ ܐܡ̈ܘܬܐ ܚ̈ܛܗܐ

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

ܨܒܝܢܗ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܒܥܒ̣ܕܐ ܣܟܘܠܬܢܐ ܘܒܚܟܡܬ ܢܦܫܗ ܡܣܬܚܦ ܥܘܠܐ ܕܬܟܝܠ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܚ̈ܛܗܐ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܗܘ ܪܘܓܙܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܦ ܠܚ̈ܟܝܡܐ ܡܘܒܕ

The king’s favor is toward a servant who deals wisely, but his wrath is toward one who causes shame.
