1
חכימתא דנשיא בניא ביתה ושטיתא בידהא עקרא לה:
lh eqra bydha wshTytha bythh bnya dnshya khkymtha
Every wise woman builds her house, but the foolish one tears it down with her own hands.
2
דמהלך בתריצותא דחל מן קדם אלהא ודעשיק באורחתיה שאט ליה:
lyh shaT bawrkhthyh wdeshyq alha qdm mn dkhl bthrytswtha dmhlk
He who walks in his uprightness fears Yahweh, but he who is perverse in his ways despises him.

בפומיה דשטיא זקתא דצערא ושפותהון דחכימי ננטרן אנון:
anwn nnTrn dkhkymy wshpwthhwn dtsera zqtha dshTya bpwmyh
The fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.

אתר דלית תורא דכין אורותא וסוגעא דעללתא בחיליה דתורא:
dthwra bkhylyh delltha wswgea awrwtha dkyn thwra dlyth athr
Where no oxen are, the crib is clean, but much increase is by the strength of the ox.

סהדא מהימנא לא מכזב ודממלל כדבותא סהדא רגלא הוא:
hwa rgla shda kdbwtha wdmmll mkzb la mhymna shda
A truthful witness will not lie, but a false witness pours out lies.

בעי ממיקנא חכמתא ולית וידיעתא למן דמתבין זלילא:
zlyla dmthbyn lmn wydyetha wlyth khkmtha mmyqna bey
A scoffer seeks wisdom, and doesn’t find it, but knowledge comes easily to a discerning person.

אזל בארחא אחריתא מן קדם סכלא דלית בשפותיה ידיעתא:
ydyetha bshpwthyh dlyth skla qdm mn akhrytha barkha azl
Stay away from a foolish man, for you won’t find knowledge on his lips.

חכמתא דערימא ביונא דארחא ובשטיותא דסכלי רמיותא:
rmywtha dskly wbshTywtha darkha bywna deryma khkmtha
The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.

כסילי מתלין בחטאה ובינת תריצי רעותא:
rewtha thrytsy wbynth bkhTah mthlyn ksyly
Fools mock at making atonement for sins, but among the upright there is good will.

לבא ידיע מרירותא דנפשיה ובחדותיה לא מתערב נוכראה:
nwkrah mtherb la wbkhdwthyh dnpshyh mryrwtha ydye lba
The heart knows its own bitterness and joy; he will not share these with a stranger.

ביתא דרשיעי ישתיצי ומשכנא דתריצי מפריח:
mprykh dthrytsy wmshkna yshthytsy drshyey bytha
The house of the wicked will be overthrown, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

אית אורחא דסברין בני נשא דתריצא היא וסופה אורחא דמותא:
dmwtha awrkha wswph hya dthrytsa nsha bny dsbryn awrkha ayth
There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

אף בגוחכא נכאב לבא וסופא דחדותא חמוצא:
khmwtsa dkhdwtha wswpa lba nkab bgwkhka ap
Even in laughter the heart may be sorrowful, and mirth may end in heaviness.

מן אורחתיה נסבע מן דמדיח לביה וגברא טבא נסבע מן דחלתיה:
dkhlthyh mn nsbe Tba wgbra lbyh dmdykh mn nsbe awrkhthyh mn
The unfaithful will be repaid for his own ways; likewise a good man will be rewarded for his ways.

שברא מהימן לכל מלי וערימא מתבין לטבתיה:
lTbthyh mthbyn weryma mly lkl mhymn shbra
A simple man believes everything, but the prudent man carefully considers his ways.

חכימא דחל ומסטא מן בישתא וסכלא מתחלט בסכלותא ומסביר בה:
bh wmsbyr bsklwtha mthkhlT wskla byshtha mn wmsTa dkhl khkyma
A wise man fears and shuns evil, but the fool is hot headed and reckless.

מן דכריא רוחיה מתחשיב שטיא וסניא לגברא דאריכא תרעיתיה:
threythyh daryka lgbra wsnya shTya mthkhshyb rwkhyh dkrya mn
He who is quick to become angry will commit folly, and a crafty man is hated.

ירתון שברי שטיותא וכלילהון דערימאי ידיעתא:
ydyetha derymay wklylhwn shTywtha shbry yrthwn
The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

נפלו בישי קדם טבי ורשיעי נתדון בתרעיא דצדיקי:
dtsdyqy bthreya nthdwn wrshyey Tby qdm byshy nplw
The evil bow down before the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20
אף לחבריה סני מסכנא ורחמי דעתירא סגיעין:
sgyeyn dethyra wrkhmy mskna sny lkhbryh ap
The poor person is shunned even by his own neighbor, but the rich person has many friends.
21
חטיא שאט לחבריה ומן דיהב למסכנא טובוהי:
Twbwhy lmskna dyhb wmn lkhbryh shaT khTya
He who despises his neighbor sins, but he who has pity on the poor is blessed.
22
הלא תעין דחשלין בישתא וחסדא וקשוט חשלין טבי:
Tby khshlyn wqshwT wkhsda byshtha dkhshlyn theyn hla
Don’t they go astray who plot evil? But love and faithfulness belong to those who plan good.

בכל מן דאצפא לך יהוי לך יותרנא וספותא יתירתא לחוסרנא:
lkhwsrna ythyrtha wspwtha ywthrna lk yhwy lk datspa mn bkl
In all hard work there is profit, but the talk of the lips leads only to poverty.

כלילא דחכימי עותרהון ושבהורהון דסכלי שטיותהון:
shTywthhwn dskly wshbhwrhwn ewthrhwn dkhkymy klyla
The crown of the wise is their riches, but the folly of fools crowns them with folly.

מפצא נפשא סהדא דקושטא ודמלל כדבותא רמיא הוא:
hwa rmya kdbwtha wdmll dqwshTa shda npsha mptsa
A truthful witness saves souls, but a false witness is deceitful.

דחלתיה דאלהא סברא דעשנא ולבנוי נהוי תוכלן:
thwkln nhwy wlbnwy deshna sbra dalha dkhlthyh
In the fear of Yahweh is a secure fortress, and he will be a refuge for his children.
27
דחלתא דאלהא מבוע דחיי לדמסטי מן פחא דמותא:
dmwtha pkha mn ldmsTy dkhyy mbwe dalha dkhltha
The fear of Yahweh is a fountain of life, turning people from the snares of death.

בסוגעא דעמא הדריה דמלכא והיך דבציר עמא מתתבר פרנסיה:
prnsyh mththbr ema dbtsyr whyk dmlka hdryh dema bswgea
In the multitude of people is the king’s glory, but in the lack of people is the destruction of the prince.

מן דנגידא רוחיה סגיעא ביוניה ומן דכריא רוחיה מסגי שטיותא:
shTywtha msgy rwkhyh dkrya wmn bywnyh sgyea rwkhyh dngyda mn
He who is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a quick temper displays folly.

דמפליג חמתא דלביה אסיא הוא דביסריה והיך מלטיתא בקיסא הכן קנאתא בגרמיה:
bgrmyh qnatha hkn bqysa mlTytha whyk dbysryh hwa asya dlbyh khmtha dmplyg
The life of the body is a heart at peace, but envy rots the bones.

דעשק למסכנא חסודא עביד לבריה ודמרחם עליבא יקריה:
yqryh elyba wdmrkhm lbryh ebyd khswda lmskna deshq
He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for his Maker, but he who is kind to the needy honors him.

בבישותיה מסתחף רשיעא ודתכל דמאת צדיקא הוא:
hwa tsdyqa dmath wdthkl rshyea msthkhp bbyshwthyh
The wicked is brought down in his calamity, but in death, the righteous has a refuge.
33
בלבא דמתבין תשרי חכמתא ובגויהון דסכלי שטיותא תתידע:
ththyde shTywtha dskly wbgwyhwn khkmtha thshry dmthbyn blba
Wisdom rests in the heart of one who has understanding, and is even made known in the inward part of fools.

צדקתא תרורם אומא וחסודא דעמי חטאי:
khTay demy wkhswda awma thrwrm tsdqtha
Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.
