ܒܪܐ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܡܫܬܡܥ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܒܪܐ ܒܝܫܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܩܒܠ ܟܐܬܐ ܢܐܒܕ
n'bd k'th' mqbl dl' bysh' wbr' l'bwhy mshthme khkym' br'
A wise son listens to his father’s instruction, but a scoffer doesn’t listen to rebuke.

ܓܒܪܐ ܛܒܐ ܡܢ ܦܐܪ̈ܝ ܦܘܡܗ ܢܣܒܥ ܘܢܦܫ̈ܬܗܘܢ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܢܐ̈ܒܕܢ
n'bdn dewl' wnpshthhwn nsbe pwmh p'ry mn Tb' gbr'
By the fruit of his lips, a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful crave violence.

ܕܢܛܪ ܦܘܡܗ ܡܙܕܗܪ ܒܢܦܫܗ ܘܕܦܬܚ ܣܦ̈ܘܬܗ ܥܒܕ ܬܒܪܐ ܠܢܦܫܗ

He who guards his mouth guards his soul. One who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܒܪ̈ܓܝܓܬܐ ܪܡܐ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܕܥ̇ܒܕܐ ܠܐ ܥܒܕ ܘܢܦܫܐ ܕܥܫܝ̈ܢܐ ܬܕܗܢ
thdhn deshyn' wnpsh' ebd l' debd' brnsh' rm' brgygth' bklzbn
The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing, but the desire of the diligent shall be fully satisfied.

ܙܕܝܩܐ ܣܢܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܫܘܩܪܐ ܘܥܘܠܐ ܢܒܗܬ ܘܢܚܦܪ
wnkhpr nbhth wewl' dshwqr' mlth' sn' zdyq'
A righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace.

ܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܬܢܛܪ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܬܡܝܡ ܒܐܘܪܚܗ ܘܠܚܛܝܐ ܬܘܒܕܝܘܗܝ ܚܛܝܬܗ
khTythh thwbdywhy wlkhTy' b'wrkhh dthmym l'yn' thnTr zdyqwth'
Righteousness guards the way of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

ܐܝܬ ܕܡܥܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܘܡܕܡ ܠܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܝܬ ܕܡܡܣܟܢ ܢܦܫܗ ܘܩܢܐ ܣܘܓܐܐ

There are some who pretend to be rich, yet have nothing. There are some who pretend to be poor, yet have great wealth.

ܦܘܪܩܢܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܥܘܬܪܗ ܘܡܣܟܢܐ ܠܐ ܡܩܒܠ ܟܐܬܐ

The ransom of a man’s life is his riches, but the poor hear no threats.

ܢܘܗܪܐ ܕܙܕܝܩ̈ܐ ܢܪܘܙ ܘܫܪܓܐ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܢܕܥܟ
ndek dewl' wshrg' nrwz dzdyq' nwhr'
The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.

ܒܪܢܫܐ ܒܝܫܐ ܒܨܥܪܐ ܥܒܕ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܡܠܟܝܢ ܚ̈ܟܝܡܐ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn khkym' dmthmlkyn w'ylyn byshth' ebd btser' bysh' brnsh'
Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is with people who take advice.

ܩܢܝܢܐ ܕܡܢ ܥܘ̣ܠܐ ܢܙܥܪ ܘܕܡܬܟܢܫ ܒܙܕܝܩܘܬܐ ܢܣܓܐ

Wealth gained dishonestly dwindles away, but he who gathers by hand makes it grow.

ܛܒ ܗܘ ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܡܫܪܐ ܠܡܥܕܪܘ ܛܒ ܡܢ ܗ̇ܘ ܕܬܠܐ ܒܣܒܪܐ ܘܐܝܠܢܐ ܕܚ̈ܝܐ ܡܝܬܐ ܣܒܪܐ
sbr' myth' dkhy' w'yln' bsbr' dthl' hw mn Tb lmedrw dmshr' 'nsh' br hw Tb
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when longing is fulfilled, it is a tree of life.

ܕܒܣܐ ܥܠ ܡܠܬܐ ܢܬܚܒܠ ܡܢܗ̇ ܘܕܕܚܠ ܡܢ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܢܫܬܘܙܒ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܢܟܘܠܬܢܐ ܠܐ ܬܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܛܝܒܘ ܘܓܒܪܐ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܕܬܪ̈ܝܨܢ ܥܒܝ̈ܕܬܗ ܐܦ ܐܘܪܚܗ ܬܣܩ ܠܪܝܫ

Whoever despises instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command will be rewarded.

ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܚܟܡܬܐ ܡܒܘܥܐ ܗܘ ܕܚ̈ܝܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܣܛܝܢ ܡܢ ܦܚ̈ܐ ܕܡܘܬܐ
dmwth' pkh' mn dsTyn l'ylyn dkhy' hw mbwe' dkhkmth' nmws'
The teaching of the wise is a spring of life, to turn from the snares of death.

ܣܘܟܠܐ ܛܒܐ ܝܗܒ ܪ̈ܚܡ̣ܐ ܘܐܘܪܚܐ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܠܐܒܕܢܐ
l'bdn' dewl' w'wrkh' rkhm' yhb Tb' swkl'
Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.

ܟܠ ܕܥܒܕ ܥܪܝܡܐ ܒܝܕܥܬܐ ܘܣܟܠܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܣܪ̈ܝܩܬܐ
sryqth' mmll wskl' bydeth' erym' debd kl
Every prudent man acts from knowledge, but a fool exposes folly.

ܐܝܙܓܕܐ ܥܘܠܐ ܢܦܠ ܒܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܐܝܙܓܕܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܐܣܝܐ ܗܘ

A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy gains healing.

ܡܣܟܢܘܬܐ ܘܨܥܪܐ ܡܒܛܠܝܢ ܡܪܕܘܬܐ ܘܕܢܛܪ ܡܟܣܢܘܬܐ ܢܫܬܒܚ

Poverty and shame come to him who refuses discipline, but he who heeds correction shall be honored.

ܪܓܬܐ ܝܐܝܬܐ ܬܒܣܡ ܢܦܫܐ ܘܛܡܐܘܬܐ ܕܥܘ̈ܠܐ ܦܪܝܩܐ ܗܝ ܡܢ ܝܕܥܬܐ
ydeth' mn hy pryq' dewl' wTm'wth' npsh' thbsm y'yth' rgth'
Longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.

ܕܡܗܠܟ ܥܡ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܚܟܝܡ ܘܕܡܗܠܟ ܥܡ ܣܟܠܐ ܢܒܐܫ ܠܗ

One who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

ܠܚ̈ܛܝܐ ܬܪܕܘܦ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܘܙܕܝ̈ܩܐ ܢܫܬܠܡܘܢ ܠܛܒ̈ܬܐ
lTbth' nshthlmwn wzdyq' byshth' thrdwp lkhTy'
Misfortune pursues sinners, but prosperity rewards the righteous.

ܓܒܪܐ ܛܒܐ ܡܘܪܬ ܠܒܢܝ̈ ܒܢ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܡܬܢܛܪ ܠܙܕܝܩܐ ܥܘܬܪܗ ܕܚܛܝܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܚܙܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܘܡܪܐ ܫ̈ܢܝܐ ܣܓܝܐܬ̈ܐ ܐܘܒܕܘ ܥܘܬܪܐ ܘܐܢܫ̈ܝܢ ܐܒܕܘ ܓܡܝܪܐܝܬ
gmyr'yth 'bdw w'nshyn ewthr' 'wbdw sgy'th' shny' ewmr' lhwn khz' dl' 'ylyn dkhTy' ewthrh lzdyq' wmthnTr bnwhy lbny mwrth Tb' gbr'
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, but the wealth of the sinner is stored for the righteous.

ܟܠ ܕܚܐܣ ܥܠ ܫܒܛܗ ܣܢܐ ܠܒܪܗ ܘܕܪܚܡ ܠܒܪܗ ܚܦܝܛܐܝܬ ܪܕܐ ܠܗ

One who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him is careful to discipline him.
