מסחתא דנכלא מרחקתיה דאלהא ובמתקלא תריצא צביוניה:
tsbywnyh thrytsa wbmthqla dalha mrkhqthyh dnkla mskhtha
A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight.

היך דעלא זידונתא עלל צערא ולאלין דצניעין חכמתא:
khkmtha dtsnyeyn wlalyn tsera ell zydwntha dela hyk
When pride comes, then comes shame, but with humility comes wisdom.

תמימותא דתריצי תדבר אנון ונטלטלון בזוזי ונדכנון:
wndknwn bzwzy wnTlTlwn anwn thdbr dthrytsy thmymwtha
The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them.

לא מהני שקרא ביומא דרוגזא וצדקתא מפלטא מן מותא בישא:
bysha mwtha mn mplTa wtsdqtha drwgza bywma shqra mhny la
Riches don’t profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

צדקתהון דתמימי תתרץ אורחתיה וברשעיה נפל רשיעא:
rshyea npl wbrsheyh awrkhthyh ththrts dthmymy tsdqthhwn
The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way, but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness.

צדקתא דתריצי תפצי אנון ובזוזי בשלומהון מתאחדין:
mthakhdyn bshlwmhwn wbzwzy anwn thptsy dthrytsy tsdqtha
The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them, but the unfaithful will be trapped by evil desires.

כד מית גברא רשיעא יוביד סבריה וסבורהון דאלין דעבדין עאתא ייבד:
yybd eatha debdyn dalyn wsbwrhwn sbryh ywbyd rshyea gbra myth kd
When a wicked man dies, hope perishes, and expectation of power comes to nothing.

צדיקא מן עקתא אשתיזב ועל ביש תחותוהי:
thkhwthwhy bysh wel ashthyzb eqtha mn tsdyqa
A righteous person is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked takes his place.

נכלא בפומיה מחבל חבריה וצדיקי בידיעתהון משתיזבין:
mshthyzbyn bydyethhwn wtsdyqy khbryh mkhbl bpwmyh nkla
With his mouth the godless man destroys his neighbor, but the righteous will be delivered through knowledge.

בטבתהון דצדיקי תדוץ קריתהון וביובדנא דרשיעי חדותא:
khdwtha drshyey wbywbdna qrythhwn thdwts dtsdyqy bTbthhwn
When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices. When the wicked perish, there is shouting.

בברכתהון דצדיקי תתרומם מדנתא ובפומהון דרשיעי תתעקר:
ththeqr drshyey wbpwmhwn mdntha ththrwmm dtsdyqy bbrkthhwn
By the blessing of the upright, the city is exalted, but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

דשט לחבריה חסיר רעינא הוא וגברא דמתבין שתיק:
shthyq dmthbyn wgbra hwa reyna khsyr lkhbryh dshT
One who despises his neighbor is void of wisdom, but a man of understanding holds his peace.

אכל קרצא גלי רזא ודמהמן ברוחיה מכסי מלתא:
mltha mksy brwkhyh wdmhmn rza gly qrtsa akl
One who brings gossip betrays a confidence, but one who is of a trustworthy spirit is one who keeps a secret.

באתרא דלית מדברא נפל עמא ופורקנא ייתי בסוגעה דמלכתנותא:
dmlkthnwtha bswgeh yythy wpwrqna ema npl mdbra dlyth bathra
Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory.

בישא מבאש בצדיקא מטול דהוא ערב חילוני וסני לאלין דסימין סברהון באלהא:
balha sbrhwn dsymyn lalyn wsny khylwny erb dhwa mTwl btsdyqa mbash bysha
He who is collateral for a stranger will suffer for it, but he who refuses pledges of collateral is secure.

אתתא חסידתא פלגא איקרא ועשיני רהטין בתר עותרא:
ewthra bthr rhTyn weshyny ayqra plga khsydtha aththa
A gracious woman obtains honor, but violent men obtain riches.

פריע טבתא לנפשיה גברא חסידא ודמובד גושמיה נכזריא:
nkzrya gwshmyh wdmwbd khsyda gbra lnpshyh Tbtha prye
The merciful man does good to his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh.

רשיעא עבד עובדא דשקרא ודזרע לצדקתא קושטיה הוא אגריה:
agryh hwa qwshTyh ltsdqtha wdzre dshqra ewbda ebd rshyea
Wicked people earn deceitful wages, but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.

היכנא מן דעבד צדקתא לחיי נטיר ודרדף בישתא נטיר למותא:
lmwtha nTyr byshtha wdrdp nTyr lkhyy tsdqtha debd mn hykna
He who is truly righteous gets life. He who pursues evil gets death.

מרחק אלהא לעקימי לבא וצבי באלין דתמימין:
dthmymyn balyn wtsby lba leqymy alha mrkhq
Those who are perverse in heart are an abomination to Yahweh, but those whose ways are blameless are his delight.
21
דמושיט אידא על חבריה לא מזדכי מן בישתא וזרעא דצדיקי מתפרק:
mthprq dtsdyqy wzrea byshtha mn mzdky la khbryh el ayda dmwshyT
Most certainly, the evil man will not be unpunished, but the offspring of the righteous will be delivered.

קדשי דדהבא בנחירי דחזירתא היכנא אתתא דשפירי וסרי טעמא:
Tema wsry dshpyry aththa hykna dkhzyrtha bnkhyry ddhba qdshy
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout, is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.

רגתא דצדיקי בטבתא וסבורא דרשיעי ברוגזא:
brwgza drshyey wsbwra bTbtha dtsdyqy rgtha
The desire of the righteous is only good. The expectation of the wicked is wrath.

אית דפרד ומוסיף תוב וחשיך מן תריצותא חוסרנא ליה:
lyh khwsrna thrytswtha mn wkhshyk thwb wmwsyp dprd ayth
There is one who scatters, and increases yet more. There is one who withholds more than is appropriate, but gains poverty.

נפשא דברכתא תדהן ומן דמאלף אף הוא יליף:
ylyp hwa ap dmalp wmn thdhn dbrktha npsha
The liberal soul shall be made fat. He who waters shall be watered also himself.

מן דכלא עבורא באולצנא נשבקוניה לבעל דבבוי וברכתא תהוי לאנא דמזבן:
dmzbn lana thhwy wbrktha dbbwy lbel nshbqwnyh bawltsna ebwra dkla mn
People curse someone who withholds grain, but blessing will be on the head of him who sells it.

דמקדים טבתא בעי צבינא ותבע בישתא אתיא עלוי:
elwy athya byshtha wthbe tsbyna bey Tbtha dmqdym
He who diligently seeks good seeks favor, but he who searches after evil, it shall come to him.

דמסבר בעותריה הוא נפל ואיך טרפא צדיקי מפרחין:
mprkhyn tsdyqy Trpa wayk npl hwa bewthryh dmsbr
He who trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous shall flourish as the green leaf.

עכר ביתיה ירית פחתא וסכלא יהוי עבדא לחכים לבא:
lba lkhkym ebda yhwy wskla pkhtha yryth bythyh ekr
He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind. The foolish shall be servant to the wise of heart.
30
פרוי דצדיקא אילנא דחיי ומקבלנותא דנפשי חכמתא:
khkmtha dnpshy wmqblnwtha dkhyy aylna dtsdyqa prwy
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. He who is wise wins souls.
