מתלוי דשלמה בר חכימא נחדי אבוי וברא סכלא מחמץ לאמיה:
lamyh mkhmts skla wbra abwy nkhdy khkyma br dshlmh mthlwy
The proverbs of Solomon. A wise son makes a glad father; but a foolish son brings grief to his mother.

לא מותרין אוצרי דרשיעא וצדקתא מפציא מן מותא בישא:
bysha mwtha mn mptsya wtsdqtha drshyea awtsry mwthryn la
Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivers from death.

לא מכפן אלהא נפשיה דצדיקא וקנינא דרשיעי נסחוף:
nskhwp drshyey wqnyna dtsdyqa npshyh alha mkpn la
Yahweh will not allow the soul of the righteous to go hungry, but he thrusts away the desire of the wicked.

מסכנותא ממככא לגברא רמיא וידא דכשרא מעתרה להון:
lhwn methrh dkshra wyda rmya lgbra mmkka msknwtha
He becomes poor who works with a lazy hand, but the hand of the diligent brings wealth.

דפליח בקיטא ברא סוכלתנא הוא ודדמיך בחצדא ברא הוא מבהתנא:
mbhthna hwa bra bkhtsda wddmyk hwa swklthna bra bqyTa dplykh
He who gathers in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during the harvest is a son who causes shame.

ברכתא תהוין על רישי דצדיקיא ובפומהון דרשיעי נכסי חטופא:
khTwpa nksy drshyey wbpwmhwn dtsdyqya ryshy el thhwyn brktha
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

דוכרנא דצדיקי ברכתא ושמא דרשיעי נדעך:
ndek drshyey wshma brktha dtsdyqy dwkrna
The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.

דחכים לביה יקבל פוקדנא וסכלא בשפותיה מתאחד:
mthakhd bshpwthyh wskla pwqdna yqbl lbyh dkhkym
The wise in heart accept commandments, but a chattering fool will fall.

דמהלך בתמימותא ניזל בסעדא ודמעקמן אורחתיה נתידע:
nthyde awrkhthyh wdmeqmn bseda nyzl bthmymwtha dmhlk
He who walks blamelessly walks surely, but he who perverts his ways will be found out.

דרמז בעינוהי יהב כאבא וסליף בשפותיה מתאחד:
mthakhd bshpwthyh wslyp kaba yhb beynwhy drmz
One who winks with the eye causes sorrow, but a chattering fool will fall.

מבועא דחיי פומא דצדיקי ופומהון דרשיעי נכסא חטופא:
khTwpa nksa drshyey wpwmhwn dtsdyqy pwma dkhyy mbwea
The mouth of the righteous is a spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

סניאתא תגרג תגרי ועל כלהון סורחני מכסא רחמותא:
rkhmwtha mksa swrkhny klhwn wel thgry thgrg snyatha
Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers all wrongs.

בשפותי דסוכלתנא תשכח חכמתא ושבטא לפגרא דחסר רעינא:
reyna dkhsr lpgra wshbTa khkmtha thshkkh dswklthna bshpwthy
Wisdom is found on the lips of him who has discernment, but a rod is for the back of him who is void of understanding.

חכימי נטשון ידיעתא ופומיה דשטיא שציא קריב:
qryb shtsya dshTya wpwmyh ydyetha nTshwn khkymy
Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish is near ruin.

קנינא דעתירא כרכא דעושניה ושציא דמסכנא צריכותהון:
tsrykwthhwn dmskna wshtsya dewshnyh krka dethyra qnyna
The rich man’s wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty.

עובדי דצדיקא לחיי עללתיה דרשיעא לחטותא:
lkhTwtha drshyea ellthyh lkhyy dtsdyqa ewbdy
The labor of the righteous leads to life. The increase of the wicked leads to sin.

אורח דחיי נטרי מרדותא ודשבק מכסנותא תעי:
they mksnwtha wdshbq mrdwtha nTry dkhyy awrkh
He is in the way of life who heeds correction, but he who forsakes reproof leads others astray.

מכמין בעל דבבא ספותא דשקרא ומפיק טבא הוא סכלא:
skla hwa Tba wmpyq dshqra spwtha dbba bel mkmyn
He who hides hatred has lying lips. He who utters a slander is a fool.

בסוגאה דמלי לא פסק חובא ודחשך שפותיה שוכלתנא:
shwklthna shpwthyh wdkhshk khwba psq la dmly bswgah
In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely.

סאמא גביא לשניה דצדיקא ולבא דרשיעי מחתא:
mkhtha drshyey wlba dtsdyqa lshnyh gbya sama
The tongue of the righteous is like choice silver. The heart of the wicked is of little worth.
21
שפותא דצדיקי רעין סגיאי ושטיי בחסירות רעינא ימותון:
ymwthwn reyna bkhsyrwth wshTyy sgyay reyn dtsdyqy shpwtha
The lips of the righteous feed many, but the foolish die for lack of understanding.
22
ברכתא דאלהא היא מעתרא ולא נוסף כיבא עמה:
emh kyba nwsp wla methra hya dalha brktha
Yahweh’s blessing brings wealth, and he adds no trouble to it.
23
כד גחך סכלא עבד עבידתא וחכמתא לגברא דמתבין:
dmthbyn lgbra wkhkmtha ebydtha ebd skla gkhk kd
It is a fool’s pleasure to do wickedness, but wisdom is a man of understanding’s pleasure.
24
חריצותא דרשיעא היא אתיא ליה ורגגתא דצדיקיא תתיהב להון:
lhwn ththyhb dtsdyqya wrggtha lyh athya hya drshyea khrytswtha
What the wicked fear will overtake them, but the desire of the righteous will be granted.
25
היך דיעבר עלעולא היכנא נעבר רשיעא וצדיקא שתאסיא בעלמא:
belma shthasya wtsdyqa rshyea nebr hykna elewla dyebr hyk
When the whirlwind passes, the wicked is no more; but the righteous stand firm forever.

היך חומצא לשני וכתננא לעיני היכנא שליחא עטלא למשלחוי:
lmshlkhwy eTla shlykha hykna leyny wkthnna lshny khwmtsa hyk
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, so is the sluggard to those who send him.
27
דחלתיה דאלהא תוסף יומתא ושני דרשיעי נזערן:
nzern drshyey wshny ywmtha thwsp dalha dkhlthyh
The fear of Yahweh prolongs days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28
סברהון דצדיקי חדותא וסברא דרשיעי נאבד:
nabd drshyey wsbra khdwtha dtsdyqy sbrhwn
The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hope of the wicked will perish.
29
מעשנא לתמימי אורחיה דאלהא ושציא נהוי לאלין דעבדין עותא:
ewtha debdyn lalyn nhwy wshtsya dalha awrkhyh lthmymy meshna
The way of Yahweh is a stronghold to the upright, but it is a destruction to the workers of iniquity.

צדיק לעלם לא נזוע ורשיעי לא יתועדון בארעא:
barea ythwedwn la wrshyey nzwe la lelm tsdyq
The righteous will never be removed, but the wicked will not dwell in the land.
31
פומיה דצדיקא מבעא חכמתא ולישנא דהפיכו נתפסק:
nthpsq dhpykw wlyshna khkmtha mbea dtsdyqa pwmyh
The mouth of the righteous produces wisdom, but the perverse tongue will be cut off.
