ומליל יי עם משה במישריא דמואב על ירדנא דירחו למימר:
wmlyl yy em mshh bmyshrya dmwab el yrdna dyrkhw lmymr
Yahweh spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,

פקד ית בני ישראל ויתנון ללואי מאחסנת אחודתהון קרוין למתב ורוח לקרויא סחרניהון תתנון ללואי:
pqd yth bny yshral wythnwn llway makhsnth akhwdthhwn qrwyn lmthb wrwkh lqrwya skhrnyhwn ththnwn llway
“Command the children of Israel to give to the Levites cities to dwell in out of their inheritance. You shall give pasture lands for the cities around them to the Levites.

ויהון קרויא להון למתב ורוחיהון יהון לבעירהון ולקניניהון ולכל חיותהון:
wyhwn qrwya lhwn lmthb wrwkhyhwn yhwn lbeyrhwn wlqnynyhwn wlkl khywthhwn
They shall have the cities to dwell in. Their pasture lands shall be for their livestock, and for their possessions, and for all their animals.

ורוחי קרויא די תתנון ללואי מכותל קרתא ולברא אלף אמין סחור סחור:
wrwkhy qrwya dy ththnwn llway mkwthl qrtha wlbra alp amyn skhwr skhwr
“The pasture lands of the cities, which you shall give to the Levites, shall be from the wall of the city and outward one thousand cubits around it.

ותמשחון מברא לקרתא ית רוח קדומא תרין אלפין באמין וית רוח דרומא תרין אלפין באמין וית רוח מערבא תרין אלפין באמין וית רוח צפונא תרין אלפין באמין וקרתא במציעא דין יהי להון רוחי קרויא:
wthmshkhwn mbra lqrtha yth rwkh qdwma thryn alpyn bamyn wyth rwkh drwma thryn alpyn bamyn wyth rwkh merba thryn alpyn bamyn wyth rwkh tspwna thryn alpyn bamyn wqrtha bmtsyea dyn yhy lhwn rwkhy qrwya
You shall measure outside of the city for the east side two thousand cubits, and for the south side two thousand cubits, and for the west side two thousand cubits, and for the north side two thousand cubits, the city being in the middle. This shall be the pasture lands of their cities.

וית קרויא די תתנון ללואי ית שית קרוי שזבותא די תתנון למערק תמן קטולא ועליהון תתנון ארבעין ותרתין קרוין:
wyth qrwya dy ththnwn llway yth shyth qrwy shzbwtha dy ththnwn lmerq thmn qTwla welyhwn ththnwn arbeyn wthrthyn qrwyn
“The cities which you shall give to the Levites, they shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall give for the man slayer to flee to. Besides them you shall give forty-two cities.

כל קרויא די תתנון ללואי ארבעין ותמני קרוין יתהן וית רוחיהן:
kl qrwya dy ththnwn llway arbeyn wthmny qrwyn ythhn wyth rwkhyhn
All the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be forty-eight cities together with their pasture lands.

וקרויא די תתנון מאחודת בני ישראל מן סגיאי תסגון ומן זעירי תזעירון גבר כפום אחסנתיה די יחסנון יתן מקרווהי ללואי:
wqrwya dy ththnwn makhwdth bny yshral mn sgyay thsgwn wmn zeyry thzeyrwn gbr kpwm akhsnthyh dy ykhsnwn ythn mqrwwhy llway
Concerning the cities which you shall give of the possession of the children of Israel, from the many you shall take many, and from the few you shall take few. Everyone according to his inheritance which he inherits shall give some of his cities to the Levites.”

מלל עם בני ישראל ותימר להון ארי אתון עברין ית ירדנא לארעא דכנען:
mll em bny yshral wthymr lhwn ary athwn ebryn yth yrdna larea dknen
“Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

ותזמנון לכון קרוין קרוי שזבותא יהוין לכון ויערוק לתמן קטולא דיקטול נפשא בשלו:
wthzmnwn lkwn qrwyn qrwy shzbwtha yhwyn lkwn wyerwq lthmn qTwla dyqTwl npsha bshlw
then you shall appoint for yourselves cities to be cities of refuge for you, that the man slayer who kills any person unwittingly may flee there.

ויהון לכון קרויא לשזבא מגאל דמא ולא ימות קטולא עד דיקום קדם כנשתא לדינא:
wyhwn lkwn qrwya lshzba mgal dma wla ymwth qTwla ed dyqwm qdm knshtha ldyna
The cities shall be for your refuge from the avenger, that the man slayer not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment.

וקרויא די תתנון שית קרוי שזבותא יהוין לכון:
wqrwya dy ththnwn shyth qrwy shzbwtha yhwyn lkwn
The cities which you shall give shall be for you six cities of refuge.
14
ית תלת קרויא תתנון מעברא לירדנא וית תלת קרויא תתנון בארעא דכנען קרוי שזבותא יהוין:
yth thlth qrwya ththnwn mebra lyrdna wyth thlth qrwya ththnwn barea dknen qrwy shzbwtha yhwyn
You shall give three cities beyond the Jordan, and you shall give three cities in the land of Canaan. They shall be cities of refuge.

לבני ישראל ולגיורא ולתותביא דביניכון יהוין שית קרויא האלין לשזבא למערוק לתמן כל דיקטול נפשא בשלו:
lbny yshral wlgywra wlthwthbya dbynykwn yhwyn shyth qrwya halyn lshzba lmerwq lthmn kl dyqTwl npsha bshlw
These six cities shall be refuge for the children of Israel, for the stranger, and for the foreigner living among them, that everyone who kills any person unwittingly may flee there.

ואם במאן דפרזלא מחהי וקטליה קטולא הוא אתקטלא יתקטל קטולא:
wam bman dprzla mkhhy wqTlyh qTwla hwa athqTla ythqTl qTwla
“‘But if he struck him with an instrument of iron, so that he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

ואם באבנא דמתנסבא בידא דהיא כמסת די ימות בה מחהי וקטליה קטולא הוא אתקטלא יתקטל קטולא:
wam babna dmthnsba byda dhya kmsth dy ymwth bh mkhhy wqTlyh qTwla hwa athqTla ythqTl qTwla
If he struck him with a stone in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

או במאן דעא דמתנסב בידא דהיא כמסת די ימות ביה מחהי וקטליה קטולא הוא אתקטלא יתקטל קטולא:
aw bman dea dmthnsb byda dhya kmsth dy ymwth byh mkhhy wqTlyh qTwla hwa athqTla ythqTl qTwla
Or if he struck him with a weapon of wood in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

גאל דמא הוא יקטול ית קטולא כד אתחיב ליה מן דינא הוא יקטלניה:
gal dma hwa yqTwl yth qTwla kd athkhyb lyh mn dyna hwa yqTlnyh
The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death. When he meets him, he shall put him to death.
20
ואם בסנאה דחהי או רמא עלוהי בכמנא וקטליה:
wam bsnah dkhhy aw rma elwhy bkmna wqTlyh
If he shoved him out of hatred, or hurled something at him while lying in wait, so that he died,
21
או בדבבו מחהי בידיה וקטליה אתקטלא יתקטל מחיא קטולא הוא גאל דמא יקטול ית קטולא כד אתחיב ליה מן דינא:
aw bdbbw mkhhy bydyh wqTlyh athqTla ythqTl mkhya qTwla hwa gal dma yqTwl yth qTwla kd athkhyb lyh mn dyna
or in hostility struck him with his hand, so that he died, he who struck him shall surely be put to death. He is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when he meets him.
22
ואם בתכף בלא דבבו דחהי או רמא עלוהי כל מאן בלא כמן ליה:
wam bthkp bla dbbw dkhhy aw rma elwhy kl man bla kmn lyh
“‘But if he shoved him suddenly without hostility, or hurled on him anything without lying in wait,
23
או בכל אבנא דהיא כמסת די ימות בה בלא חזי ורמא עלוהי וקטליה והוא לא סני ליה ולא תבע בישתיה:
aw bkl abna dhya kmsth dy ymwth bh bla khzy wrma elwhy wqTlyh whwa la sny lyh wla thbe byshthyh
or with any stone, by which a man may die, not seeing him, and cast it on him so that he died, and he was not his enemy and not seeking his harm,
24
וידונון כנשתא בין מחיא ובין גאל דמא על דיניא האלין:
wydwnwn knshtha byn mkhya wbyn gal dma el dynya halyn
then the congregation shall judge between the striker and the avenger of blood according to these ordinances.
25
וישזבון כנשתא ית קטולא מיד גאל דמא ויתיבון יתיה כנשתא לקרית שזבותיה די ערק לתמן ויתב בה עד דימות כהנא רבא די רבי יתיה במשח קודשא:
wyshzbwn knshtha yth qTwla myd gal dma wythybwn ythyh knshtha lqryth shzbwthyh dy erq lthmn wythb bh ed dymwth khna rba dy rby ythyh bmshkh qwdsha
The congregation shall deliver the man slayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, where he had fled. He shall dwell therein until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.
26
ואם מפק יפוק קטולא ית תחום קרית שזבותיה די ערק לתמן:
wam mpq ypwq qTwla yth thkhwm qryth shzbwthyh dy erq lthmn
“‘But if the man slayer shall at any time go beyond the border of his city of refuge where he flees,
27
וישכח יתיה גאל דמא מברא לתחום קרית שזבותיה ויקטול גאל דמא ית קטולא לית ליה דמא:
wyshkkh ythyh gal dma mbra lthkhwm qryth shzbwthyh wyqTwl gal dma yth qTwla lyth lyh dma
and the avenger of blood finds him outside of the border of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the man slayer, he shall not be guilty of blood,
28
ארי בקרית שזבותיה יתב עד דימות כהנא רבא ובתר דימות כהנא רבא יתוב קטולא לארע אחסנתיה:
ary bqryth shzbwthyh ythb ed dymwth khna rba wbthr dymwth khna rba ythwb qTwla lare akhsnthyh
because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest, the man slayer shall return into the land of his possession.
29
ויהון אלין לכון לגזרת דין לדריכון בכל מותבניכון:
wyhwn alyn lkwn lgzrth dyn ldrykwn bkl mwthbnykwn
“‘These things shall be for a statute and ordinance to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
30
כל דיקטול נפשא לפום סהדין יקטול ית קטולא וסהיד חד לא יסהד באנש למקטל:
kl dyqTwl npsha lpwm shdyn yqTwl yth qTwla wshyd khd la yshd bansh lmqTl
“‘Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be slain based on the testimony of witnesses; but one witness shall not testify alone against any person so that he dies.
31
ולא תקבלון ממון על אנש קטול די הוא חיב למקטל ארי אתקטלא יתקטל:
wla thqblwn mmwn el ansh qTwl dy hwa khyb lmqTl ary athqTla ythqTl
“‘Moreover you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death. He shall surely be put to death.
32
ולא תקבלון ממון למערוק לקרית שזבותיה למתוב למתב בארעא עד דימות כהנא:
wla thqblwn mmwn lmerwq lqryth shzbwthyh lmthwb lmthb barea ed dymwth khna
“‘You shall take no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may come again to dwell in the land before the death of the priest.
33
ולא תחיבון ית ארעא די אתון בה ארי דמא הוא מחיב ית ארעא ולארעא לא מתכפר על דם זכאי דאתשד בה אלהן בדם אשדיה:
wla thkhybwn yth area dy athwn bh ary dma hwa mkhyb yth area wlarea la mthkpr el dm zkay dathshd bh alhn bdm ashdyh
“‘So you shall not pollute the land where you live; for blood pollutes the land. No atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him who shed it.
34
ולא תסאבון ית ארעא די אתון יתבין בה די שכינתי שריא בגוה ארי אנא יי דשכנתי שריא בגו בני ישראל:
wla thsabwn yth area dy athwn ythbyn bh dy shkynthy shrya bgwh ary ana yy dshknthy shrya bgw bny yshral
You shall not defile the land which you inhabit, where I dwell; for I, Yahweh, dwell among the children of Israel.’”
