ומליל יי עם משה במישריא דמואב על ירדנא דירחו למימר:
lmymr dyrkhw yrdna el dmwab bmyshrya mshh em yy wmlyl
Yahweh spoke to Moses in the plains of Moab by the Jordan at Jericho, saying,

פקד ית בני ישראל ויתנון ללואי מאחסנת אחודתהון קרוין למתב ורוח לקרויא סחרניהון תתנון ללואי:
llway ththnwn skhrnyhwn lqrwya wrwkh lmthb qrwyn akhwdthhwn makhsnth llway wythnwn yshral bny yth pqd
“Command the children of Israel to give to the Levites cities to dwell in out of their inheritance. You shall give pasture lands for the cities around them to the Levites.

ויהון קרויא להון למתב ורוחיהון יהון לבעירהון ולקניניהון ולכל חיותהון:
khywthhwn wlkl wlqnynyhwn lbeyrhwn yhwn wrwkhyhwn lmthb lhwn qrwya wyhwn
They shall have the cities to dwell in. Their pasture lands shall be for their livestock, and for their possessions, and for all their animals.

ורוחי קרויא די תתנון ללואי מכותל קרתא ולברא אלף אמין סחור סחור:
skhwr skhwr amyn alp wlbra qrtha mkwthl llway ththnwn dy qrwya wrwkhy
“The pasture lands of the cities, which you shall give to the Levites, shall be from the wall of the city and outward one thousand cubits around it.

ותמשחון מברא לקרתא ית רוח קדומא תרין אלפין באמין וית רוח דרומא תרין אלפין באמין וית רוח מערבא תרין אלפין באמין וית רוח צפונא תרין אלפין באמין וקרתא במציעא דין יהי להון רוחי קרויא:
qrwya rwkhy lhwn yhy dyn bmtsyea wqrtha bamyn alpyn thryn tspwna rwkh wyth bamyn alpyn thryn merba rwkh wyth bamyn alpyn thryn drwma rwkh wyth bamyn alpyn thryn qdwma rwkh yth lqrtha mbra wthmshkhwn
You shall measure outside of the city for the east side two thousand cubits, and for the south side two thousand cubits, and for the west side two thousand cubits, and for the north side two thousand cubits, the city being in the middle. This shall be the pasture lands of their cities.

וית קרויא די תתנון ללואי ית שית קרוי שזבותא די תתנון למערק תמן קטולא ועליהון תתנון ארבעין ותרתין קרוין:
qrwyn wthrthyn arbeyn ththnwn welyhwn qTwla thmn lmerq ththnwn dy shzbwtha qrwy shyth yth llway ththnwn dy qrwya wyth
“The cities which you shall give to the Levites, they shall be the six cities of refuge, which you shall give for the man slayer to flee to. Besides them you shall give forty-two cities.

כל קרויא די תתנון ללואי ארבעין ותמני קרוין יתהן וית רוחיהן:
rwkhyhn wyth ythhn qrwyn wthmny arbeyn llway ththnwn dy qrwya kl
All the cities which you shall give to the Levites shall be forty-eight cities together with their pasture lands.

וקרויא די תתנון מאחודת בני ישראל מן סגיאי תסגון ומן זעירי תזעירון גבר כפום אחסנתיה די יחסנון יתן מקרווהי ללואי:
llway mqrwwhy ythn ykhsnwn dy akhsnthyh kpwm gbr thzeyrwn zeyry wmn thsgwn sgyay mn yshral bny makhwdth ththnwn dy wqrwya
Concerning the cities which you shall give of the possession of the children of Israel, from the many you shall take many, and from the few you shall take few. Everyone according to his inheritance which he inherits shall give some of his cities to the Levites.”

מלל עם בני ישראל ותימר להון ארי אתון עברין ית ירדנא לארעא דכנען:
dknen larea yrdna yth ebryn athwn ary lhwn wthymr yshral bny em mll
“Speak to the children of Israel, and tell them, ‘When you pass over the Jordan into the land of Canaan,

ותזמנון לכון קרוין קרוי שזבותא יהוין לכון ויערוק לתמן קטולא דיקטול נפשא בשלו:
bshlw npsha dyqTwl qTwla lthmn wyerwq lkwn yhwyn shzbwtha qrwy qrwyn lkwn wthzmnwn
then you shall appoint for yourselves cities to be cities of refuge for you, that the man slayer who kills any person unwittingly may flee there.

ויהון לכון קרויא לשזבא מגאל דמא ולא ימות קטולא עד דיקום קדם כנשתא לדינא:
ldyna knshtha qdm dyqwm ed qTwla ymwth wla dma mgal lshzba qrwya lkwn wyhwn
The cities shall be for your refuge from the avenger, that the man slayer not die until he stands before the congregation for judgment.

וקרויא די תתנון שית קרוי שזבותא יהוין לכון:
lkwn yhwyn shzbwtha qrwy shyth ththnwn dy wqrwya
The cities which you shall give shall be for you six cities of refuge.
14
ית תלת קרויא תתנון מעברא לירדנא וית תלת קרויא תתנון בארעא דכנען קרוי שזבותא יהוין:
yhwyn shzbwtha qrwy dknen barea ththnwn qrwya thlth wyth lyrdna mebra ththnwn qrwya thlth yth
You shall give three cities beyond the Jordan, and you shall give three cities in the land of Canaan. They shall be cities of refuge.

לבני ישראל ולגיורא ולתותביא דביניכון יהוין שית קרויא האלין לשזבא למערוק לתמן כל דיקטול נפשא בשלו:
bshlw npsha dyqTwl kl lthmn lmerwq lshzba halyn qrwya shyth yhwyn dbynykwn wlthwthbya wlgywra yshral lbny
These six cities shall be refuge for the children of Israel, for the stranger, and for the foreigner living among them, that everyone who kills any person unwittingly may flee there.

ואם במאן דפרזלא מחהי וקטליה קטולא הוא אתקטלא יתקטל קטולא:
qTwla ythqTl athqTla hwa qTwla wqTlyh mkhhy dprzla bman wam
“‘But if he struck him with an instrument of iron, so that he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

ואם באבנא דמתנסבא בידא דהיא כמסת די ימות בה מחהי וקטליה קטולא הוא אתקטלא יתקטל קטולא:
qTwla ythqTl athqTla hwa qTwla wqTlyh mkhhy bh ymwth dy kmsth dhya byda dmthnsba babna wam
If he struck him with a stone in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

או במאן דעא דמתנסב בידא דהיא כמסת די ימות ביה מחהי וקטליה קטולא הוא אתקטלא יתקטל קטולא:
qTwla ythqTl athqTla hwa qTwla wqTlyh mkhhy byh ymwth dy kmsth dhya byda dmthnsb dea bman aw
Or if he struck him with a weapon of wood in the hand, by which a man may die, and he died, he is a murderer. The murderer shall surely be put to death.

גאל דמא הוא יקטול ית קטולא כד אתחיב ליה מן דינא הוא יקטלניה:
yqTlnyh hwa dyna mn lyh athkhyb kd qTwla yth yqTwl hwa dma gal
The avenger of blood shall himself put the murderer to death. When he meets him, he shall put him to death.
20
ואם בסנאה דחהי או רמא עלוהי בכמנא וקטליה:
wqTlyh bkmna elwhy rma aw dkhhy bsnah wam
If he shoved him out of hatred, or hurled something at him while lying in wait, so that he died,
21
או בדבבו מחהי בידיה וקטליה אתקטלא יתקטל מחיא קטולא הוא גאל דמא יקטול ית קטולא כד אתחיב ליה מן דינא:
dyna mn lyh athkhyb kd qTwla yth yqTwl dma gal hwa qTwla mkhya ythqTl athqTla wqTlyh bydyh mkhhy bdbbw aw
or in hostility struck him with his hand, so that he died, he who struck him shall surely be put to death. He is a murderer. The avenger of blood shall put the murderer to death when he meets him.
22
ואם בתכף בלא דבבו דחהי או רמא עלוהי כל מאן בלא כמן ליה:
lyh kmn bla man kl elwhy rma aw dkhhy dbbw bla bthkp wam
“‘But if he shoved him suddenly without hostility, or hurled on him anything without lying in wait,
23
או בכל אבנא דהיא כמסת די ימות בה בלא חזי ורמא עלוהי וקטליה והוא לא סני ליה ולא תבע בישתיה:
byshthyh thbe wla lyh sny la whwa wqTlyh elwhy wrma khzy bla bh ymwth dy kmsth dhya abna bkl aw
or with any stone, by which a man may die, not seeing him, and cast it on him so that he died, and he was not his enemy and not seeking his harm,
24
וידונון כנשתא בין מחיא ובין גאל דמא על דיניא האלין:
halyn dynya el dma gal wbyn mkhya byn knshtha wydwnwn
then the congregation shall judge between the striker and the avenger of blood according to these ordinances.
25
וישזבון כנשתא ית קטולא מיד גאל דמא ויתיבון יתיה כנשתא לקרית שזבותיה די ערק לתמן ויתב בה עד דימות כהנא רבא די רבי יתיה במשח קודשא:
qwdsha bmshkh ythyh rby dy rba khna dymwth ed bh wythb lthmn erq dy shzbwthyh lqryth knshtha ythyh wythybwn dma gal myd qTwla yth knshtha wyshzbwn
The congregation shall deliver the man slayer out of the hand of the avenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to his city of refuge, where he had fled. He shall dwell therein until the death of the high priest, who was anointed with the holy oil.

ואם מפק יפוק קטולא ית תחום קרית שזבותיה די ערק לתמן:
lthmn erq dy shzbwthyh qryth thkhwm yth qTwla ypwq mpq wam
“‘But if the man slayer shall at any time go beyond the border of his city of refuge where he flees,
27
וישכח יתיה גאל דמא מברא לתחום קרית שזבותיה ויקטול גאל דמא ית קטולא לית ליה דמא:
dma lyh lyth qTwla yth dma gal wyqTwl shzbwthyh qryth lthkhwm mbra dma gal ythyh wyshkkh
and the avenger of blood finds him outside of the border of his city of refuge, and the avenger of blood kills the man slayer, he shall not be guilty of blood,
28
ארי בקרית שזבותיה יתב עד דימות כהנא רבא ובתר דימות כהנא רבא יתוב קטולא לארע אחסנתיה:
akhsnthyh lare qTwla ythwb rba khna dymwth wbthr rba khna dymwth ed ythb shzbwthyh bqryth ary
because he should have remained in his city of refuge until the death of the high priest. But after the death of the high priest, the man slayer shall return into the land of his possession.
29
ויהון אלין לכון לגזרת דין לדריכון בכל מותבניכון:
mwthbnykwn bkl ldrykwn dyn lgzrth lkwn alyn wyhwn
“‘These things shall be for a statute and ordinance to you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
30
כל דיקטול נפשא לפום סהדין יקטול ית קטולא וסהיד חד לא יסהד באנש למקטל:
lmqTl bansh yshd la khd wshyd qTwla yth yqTwl shdyn lpwm npsha dyqTwl kl
“‘Whoever kills any person, the murderer shall be slain based on the testimony of witnesses; but one witness shall not testify alone against any person so that he dies.

ולא תקבלון ממון על אנש קטול די הוא חיב למקטל ארי אתקטלא יתקטל:
ythqTl athqTla ary lmqTl khyb hwa dy qTwl ansh el mmwn thqblwn wla
“‘Moreover you shall take no ransom for the life of a murderer who is guilty of death. He shall surely be put to death.
32
ולא תקבלון ממון למערוק לקרית שזבותיה למתוב למתב בארעא עד דימות כהנא:
khna dymwth ed barea lmthb lmthwb shzbwthyh lqryth lmerwq mmwn thqblwn wla
“‘You shall take no ransom for him who has fled to his city of refuge, that he may come again to dwell in the land before the death of the priest.
33
ולא תחיבון ית ארעא די אתון בה ארי דמא הוא מחיב ית ארעא ולארעא לא מתכפר על דם זכאי דאתשד בה אלהן בדם אשדיה:
ashdyh bdm alhn bh dathshd zkay dm el mthkpr la wlarea area yth mkhyb hwa dma ary bh athwn dy area yth thkhybwn wla
“‘So you shall not pollute the land where you live; for blood pollutes the land. No atonement can be made for the land for the blood that is shed in it, but by the blood of him who shed it.

ולא תסאבון ית ארעא די אתון יתבין בה די שכינתי שריא בגוה ארי אנא יי דשכנתי שריא בגו בני ישראל:
yshral bny bgw shrya dshknthy yy ana ary bgwh shrya shkynthy dy bh ythbyn athwn dy area yth thsabwn wla
You shall not defile the land which you inhabit, where I dwell; for I, Yahweh, dwell among the children of Israel.’”
