וקריבא בנת צלפחד בר חפר בר גלעד בר מכיר בר מנשה לזרעית מנשה בר יוסף ואלין שמהת בנתיה מחלה נועה וחגלה ומלכה ותרצה:
wqryba bnth tslpkhd br khpr br gled br mkyr br mnshh lzreyth mnshh br ywsp walyn shmhth bnthyh mkhlh nweh wkhglh wmlkh wthrtsh
Then the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the families of Manasseh the son of Joseph came near. These are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

וקמא קדם משה וקדם אלעזר כהנא וקדם רברביא וכל כנשתא בתרע משכן זמנא למימר:
wqma qdm mshh wqdm alezr khna wqdm rbrbya wkl knshtha bthre mshkn zmna lmymr
They stood before Moses, before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes and all the congregation, at the door of the Tent of Meeting, saying,

אבונא מית במדברא והוא לא הוה בגו כנשתא דאזדמנו על יי בכנשתא דקרח ארי בחוביה מית ובנין לא הוו ליה:
abwna myth bmdbra whwa la hwh bgw knshtha dazdmnw el yy bknshtha dqrkh ary bkhwbyh myth wbnyn la hww lyh
“Our father died in the wilderness. He was not among the company of those who gathered themselves together against Yahweh in the company of Korah, but he died in his own sin. He had no sons.

למא יתמנע שמא דאבונא מגו זרעיתיה ארי לית ליה בר הב לנא אחסנא בגו אחי אבונא:
lma ythmne shma dabwna mgw zreythyh ary lyth lyh br hb lna akhsna bgw akhy abwna
Why should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he had no son? Give to us a possession among the brothers of our father.”

וקרב משה ית דינהן קדם יי:
wqrb mshh yth dynhn qdm yy
Moses brought their cause before Yahweh.

יאות בנת צלפחד ממללן מתן תתן להון אחודת אחסנא בגו אחי אבוהן ותעבר ית אחסנת אבוהן להן:
yawth bnth tslpkhd mmlln mthn ththn lhwn akhwdth akhsna bgw akhy abwhn wthebr yth akhsnth abwhn lhn
“The daughters of Zelophehad speak right. You shall surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers. You shall cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.

ועם בני ישראל תמלל למימר גבר ארי ימות ובר לית ליה ותעברון ית אחסנתיה לברתיה:
wem bny yshral thmll lmymr gbr ary ymwth wbr lyth lyh wthebrwn yth akhsnthyh lbrthyh
You shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, ‘If a man dies, and has no son, then you shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.

ואם לית ליה ברתא ותתנון ית אחסנתיה לאחוהי:
wam lyth lyh brtha wththnwn yth akhsnthyh lakhwhy
If he has no daughter, then you shall give his inheritance to his brothers.
10
ואם לית ליה אחין ותתנון ית אחסנתיה לאחי אבוהי:
wam lyth lyh akhyn wththnwn yth akhsnthyh lakhy abwhy
If he has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
11
ואם לית אחין לאבוהי ותתנון ית אחסנתיה לקריביה דקריב ליה מזרעיתיה וירת יתה ותהי לבני ישראל לגזרת דין כמא די פקיד יי ית משה:
wam lyth akhyn labwhy wththnwn yth akhsnthyh lqrybyh dqryb lyh mzreythyh wyrth ythh wthhy lbny yshral lgzrth dyn kma dy pqyd yy yth mshh
If his father has no brothers, then you shall give his inheritance to his kinsman who is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it. This shall be a statute and ordinance for the children of Israel, as Yahweh commanded Moses.’”

ואמר יי למשה סק לטורא דעבראי הדין וחזי ית ארעא די יהבית לבני ישראל:
wamr yy lmshh sq lTwra debray hdyn wkhzy yth area dy yhbyth lbny yshral
Yahweh said to Moses, “Go up into this mountain of Abarim, and see the land which I have given to the children of Israel.

ותחזי יתה ותתכנש לעמיך אף את כמא די אתכניש אהרן אחוך:
wthkhzy ythh wththknsh lemyk ap ath kma dy athknysh ahrn akhwk
When you have seen it, you also shall be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother was gathered;
14
כמא די סריבתון על מימרי במדברא דצן במצות כנשתא לקדשותי במיא לעיניהון אנון מי מצות רקם מדברא דצן:
kma dy srybthwn el mymry bmdbra dtsn bmtswth knshtha lqdshwthy bmya leynyhwn anwn my mtswth rqm mdbra dtsn
because in the strife of the congregation, you rebelled against my word in the wilderness of Zin, to honor me as holy at the waters before their eyes.” (These are the waters of Meribah of Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin.)

ימני יי אלהא רוחיא לכל בסרא גבר על כנשתא:
ymny yy alha rwkhya lkl bsra gbr el knshtha
“Let Yahweh, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation,
17
די יפוק קדמיהון ודי יעול קדמיהון ודי יפקנון ודי יעלנון ולא תהי כנשתא דיי כענא די לית להן רעי:
dy ypwq qdmyhwn wdy yewl qdmyhwn wdy ypqnwn wdy yelnwn wla thhy knshtha dyy kena dy lyth lhn rey
who may go out before them, and who may come in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in, that the congregation of Yahweh may not be as sheep which have no shepherd.”

ואמר יי למשה דבר לך ית יהושע בר נון גבר די רוח נבואה ביה ותסמוך ית ידך עלוהי:
wamr yy lmshh dbr lk yth yhwshe br nwn gbr dy rwkh nbwah byh wthsmwk yth ydk elwhy
Yahweh said to Moses, “Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.

ותקים יתיה לקדם אלעזר כהנא ולקדם כל כנשתא ותפקד יתיה לעיניהון:
wthqym ythyh lqdm alezr khna wlqdm kl knshtha wthpqd ythyh leynyhwn
Set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and commission him in their sight.
20
ותתן מזיוך עלוהי בדיל די יקבלון מניה כל כנשתא דבני ישראל:
wththn mzywk elwhy bdyl dy yqblwn mnyh kl knshtha dbny yshral
You shall give authority to him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey.
21
ולקדם אלעזר כהנא יקום וישאל ליה בדין אוריא קדם יי על מימריה יהון נפקין ועל מימריה יהון עלין הוא וכל בני ישראל עמיה וכל כנשתא:
wlqdm alezr khna yqwm wyshal lyh bdyn awrya qdm yy el mymryh yhwn npqyn wel mymryh yhwn elyn hwa wkl bny yshral emyh wkl knshtha
He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him by the judgment of the Urim before Yahweh. At his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.”

ועבד משה כמא די פקיד יי יתיה ודבר ית יהושע ואקימיה קדם אלעזר כהנא וקדם כל כנשתא:
webd mshh kma dy pqyd yy ythyh wdbr yth yhwshe waqymyh qdm alezr khna wqdm kl knshtha
Moses did as Yahweh commanded him. He took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation.

וסמך ית ידוהי עלוהי ופקדיה כמא די מליל יי בידא דמשה:
wsmk yth ydwhy elwhy wpqdyh kma dy mlyl yy byda dmshh
He laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as Yahweh spoke by Moses.
