ואמר בלעם לבלק בנה לי הכא שבעא מדבחין ואתקן לי הכא שבעא תורין ושבעא דכרין:
wamr blem lblq bnh ly hka shbea mdbkhyn wathqn ly hka shbea thwryn wshbea dkryn
Balaam said to Balak, “Build here seven altars for me, and prepare here seven bulls and seven rams for me.”

ועבד בלק כמא די מליל בלעם ואסק בלק ובלעם תור ודכר על כל מדבחא:
webd blq kma dy mlyl blem wasq blq wblem thwr wdkr el kl mdbkha
Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bull and a ram.

ואמר בלעם לבלק אתעתד על עלתך ואיהך מאים יערע מימר מן קדם יי לקדמותי ופתגמא דיחזנני ואחוי לך ואזל יחידי:
wamr blem lblq athethd el elthk wayhk maym yere mymr mn qdm yy lqdmwthy wpthgma dykhznny wakhwy lk wazl ykhydy
Balaam said to Balak, “Stand by your burnt offering, and I will go. Perhaps Yahweh will come to meet me. Whatever he shows me I will tell you.” He went to a bare height.

וערע מימר מן קדם יי לות בלעם ואמר ליה ית שבעא מדבחין סדרית ואסקית תור ודכר על כל מדבחא:
were mymr mn qdm yy lwth blem wamr lyh yth shbea mdbkhyn sdryth wasqyth thwr wdkr el kl mdbkha
God met Balaam, and he said to him, “I have prepared the seven altars, and I have offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.”

ושוי יי פתגמא בפומא דבלעם ואמר תוב לות בלק וכדין תמלל:
wshwy yy pthgma bpwma dblem wamr thwb lwth blq wkdyn thmll
Yahweh put a word in Balaam’s mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and thus you shall speak.”

ותב לותיה והא מעתד על עלתיה הוא וכל רברבי מואב:
wthb lwthyh wha methd el elthyh hwa wkl rbrby mwab
He returned to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt offering, he, and all the princes of Moab.

ונטל מתליה ואמר מן ארם דברני בלק מלכא דמואב מטורי מדינחא איתא לוט לי יעקב ואיתא תרך לי ישראל:
wnTl mthlyh wamr mn arm dbrny blq mlka dmwab mTwry mdynkha aytha lwT ly yeqb waytha thrk ly yshral
He took up his parable, and said, “From Aram has Balak brought me, the king of Moab from the mountains of the East. Come, curse Jacob for me. Come, defy Israel.

מא אלוטיה דלא לטיה אל ומא אתרכיה דלא תרכיה יי:
ma alwTyh dla lTyh al wma athrkyh dla thrkyh yy
How shall I curse whom God has not cursed? How shall I defy whom Yahweh has not defied?

ארי מריש טוריא חזיתיה ומרמתא סכיתיה הא עמא בלחודיהון עתידין דיחסנון עלמא ובעממיא לא יתדנון גמירא:
ary mrysh Twrya khzythyh wmrmtha skythyh ha ema blkhwdyhwn ethydyn dykhsnwn elma wbemmya la ythdnwn gmyra
For from the top of the rocks I see him. From the hills I see him. Behold, it is a people that dwells alone, and shall not be listed among the nations.

מן ייכול לממני דעדקיא דבית יעקב דאמיר עליהון יסגון כעפרא דארעא או חדא מארבע משריתא דישראל תמות נפשי מותא דקשיטוהי ויהי סופי כותהון:
mn yykwl lmmny dedqya dbyth yeqb damyr elyhwn ysgwn kepra darea aw khda marbe mshrytha dyshral thmwth npshy mwtha dqshyTwhy wyhy swpy kwthhwn
Who can count the dust of Jacob, or count the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous! Let my last end be like his!”

ואמר בלק לבלעם מה עבדת לי למילט סנאי דברתיך והא ברכא מברכת להון:
wamr blq lblem mh ebdth ly lmylT snay dbrthyk wha brka mbrkth lhwn
Balak said to Balaam, “What have you done to me? I took you to curse my enemies, and behold, you have blessed them altogether.”

ואתב ואמר הלא ית דישוי יי בפומי יתיה אטר למללא:
wathb wamr hla yth dyshwy yy bpwmy ythyh aTr lmlla
He answered and said, “Must I not take heed to speak that which Yahweh puts in my mouth?”

ואמר ליה בלק איתא כען עמי לאתר אוחרן דתחזניה מתמן לחוד קצתיה תחזי וכוליה לא תחזי ותלוטיה לי מתמן:
wamr lyh blq aytha ken emy lathr awkhrn dthkhznyh mthmn lkhwd qtsthyh thkhzy wkwlyh la thkhzy wthlwTyh ly mthmn
Balak said to him, “Please come with me to another place, where you may see them. You shall see just part of them, and shall not see them all. Curse them from there for me.”

ודבריה לחקל סכותא לריש רמתא ובנא שבעא מדבחין ואסק תור ודכר על כל מדבחא:
wdbryh lkhql skwtha lrysh rmtha wbna shbea mdbkhyn wasq thwr wdkr el kl mdbkha
He took him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.

ואמר לבלק אתעתד הכא על עלתך ואנא אתמטי עד כא:
wamr lblq athethd hka el elthk wana athmTy ed ka
He said to Balak, “Stand here by your burnt offering, while I meet God over there.”

וערע מימר מן קדם יי לבלעם ושוי פתגמא בפומיה ואמר תוב לות בלק וכדין תמלל:
were mymr mn qdm yy lblem wshwy pthgma bpwmyh wamr thwb lwth blq wkdyn thmll
Yahweh met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, “Return to Balak, and say this.”

ואתא לותיה והוא מעתד על עלתיה ורברבי מואב עמיה ואמר ליה בלק מא מליל יי:
watha lwthyh whwa methd el elthyh wrbrby mwab emyh wamr lyh blq ma mlyl yy
He came to him, and behold, he was standing by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. Balak said to him, “What has Yahweh spoken?”

ונטל מתליה ואמר קום בלק ושמע אצית למימרי בר צפר:
wnTl mthlyh wamr qwm blq wshme atsyth lmymry br tspr
He took up his parable, and said, “Rise up, Balak, and hear! Listen to me, you son of Zippor.

לא כמלי בני אנשא מימר אלהא בני אנשא אמרין ומכדבין ואף לא כעובדי בני בשרא די אנון גזרין למעבד ותיבין ומתמלכין דהוא אמר ועבד וכל מימריה מתקים:
la kmly bny ansha mymr alha bny ansha amryn wmkdbyn wap la kewbdy bny bshra dy anwn gzryn lmebd wthybyn wmthmlkyn dhwa amr webd wkl mymryh mthqym
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good?

הא ברכן קבלית ואברכניה לישראל ולא אתב ברכתי מניה:
ha brkn qblyth wabrknyh lyshral wla athb brkthy mnyh
Behold, I have received a command to bless. He has blessed, and I can’t reverse it.

אסתכלית לית פלחי גלולין בדבית יעקב ואף לא עבדי לאות שקר בישראל מימרא דיי אלההון בסעדהון ושכינת מלכהון ביניהון:
asthklyth lyth plkhy glwlyn bdbyth yeqb wap la ebdy lawth shqr byshral mymra dyy alhhwn bsedhwn wshkynth mlkhwn bynyhwn
He has not seen iniquity in Jacob. Neither has he seen perverseness in Israel. Yahweh his God is with him. The shout of a king is among them.

אלהא דאפקנון ממצרים תוקפא ורומא דיליה:
alha dapqnwn mmtsrym thwqpa wrwma dylyh
God brings them out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox.

ארי לא נחשיא צבן דייטב לדבית יעקב ואף לא קסמיא רען ברבות בית ישראל כעדן יתאמר ליעקב ולישראל מה עבד אלהא:
ary la nkhshya tsbn dyyTb ldbyth yeqb wap la qsmya ren brbwth byth yshral kedn ythamr lyeqb wlyshral mh ebd alha
Surely there is no enchantment with Jacob; neither is there any divination with Israel. Now it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, ‘What has God done!’

הא עמא כליתא שרי וכאריא יתנטל לא ישרי בארעיה עד דיקטול קטול ונכסי עממיא יירת:
ha ema klytha shry wkarya ythnTl la yshry bareyh ed dyqTwl qTwl wnksy emmya yyrth
Behold, a people rises up as a lioness. As a lion he lifts himself up. He shall not lie down until he eats of the prey, and drinks the blood of the slain.”

ואמר בלק לבלעם אף מילט לא תלוטנון אף ברכא לא תברכנון:
wamr blq lblem ap mylT la thlwTnwn ap brka la thbrknwn
Balak said to Balaam, “Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.”

ואתב בלעם ואמר לבלק הלא מללית עמך למימר כל די ימלל יי יתיה אעבד:
wathb blem wamr lblq hla mllyth emk lmymr kl dy ymll yy ythyh aebd
But Balaam answered Balak, “Didn’t I tell you, saying, ‘All that Yahweh speaks, that I must do’?”

ואמר בלק לבלעם איתא כען אדברנך לאתר אחרן מאים יהי רעוא מן קדם יי ותלוטיה לי מתמן:
wamr blq lblem aytha ken adbrnk lathr akhrn maym yhy rewa mn qdm yy wthlwTyh ly mthmn
Balak said to Balaam, “Come now, I will take you to another place; perhaps it will please God that you may curse them for me from there.”

ודבר בלק ית בלעם ריש רמתא דמסתכיא על אפי בית ישימון:
wdbr blq yth blem rysh rmtha dmsthkya el apy byth yshymwn
Balak took Balaam to the top of Peor, that looks down on the desert.

ואמר בלעם לבלק בנה לי הכא שבעא מדבחין ואתקין לי הכא שבעא תורין ושבעא דכרין:
wamr blem lblq bnh ly hka shbea mdbkhyn wathqyn ly hka shbea thwryn wshbea dkryn
Balaam said to Balak, “Build seven altars for me here, and prepare seven bulls and seven rams for me here.”

ועבד בלק כמא די אמר בלעם ואסק תור ודכר על כל מדבחא:
webd blq kma dy amr blem wasq thwr wdkr el kl mdbkha
Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered up a bull and a ram on every altar.
