ושמע כנענאה מלכא דערד יתב דרומא ארי אתא ישראל ארח מאלליא ואגח קרבא בישראל ושבא מניה שביא:
wshme knenah mlka derd ythb drwma ary atha yshral arkh mallya wagkh qrba byshral wshba mnyh shbya
The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.

וקים ישראל קים קדם יי ואמר אם ממסר תמסר ית עמא הדין בידי ואגמר ית קרויהון:
wqym yshral qym qdm yy wamr am mmsr thmsr yth ema hdyn bydy wagmr yth qrwyhwn
Israel vowed a vow to Yahweh, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”

וקביל יי צלותיה דישראל ומסר ית כנענאה וגמר יתהון וית קרויהון וקרא שמא דאתרא חרמה:
wqbyl yy tslwthyh dyshral wmsr yth knenah wgmr ythhwn wyth qrwyhwn wqra shma dathra khrmh
Yahweh listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. The name of the place was called Hormah.

ונטלו מהר טורא ארח ימא דסוף לאקפא ית ארעא דאדום ועקת נפשא דעמא באורחא:
wnTlw mhr Twra arkh yma dswp laqpa yth area dadwm weqth npsha dema bawrkha
They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.

ואתרעם עמא במימרא דיי ועם משה נצו למא אסקתונא ממצרים לממת במדברא ארי לית לחמא ולית מיא ונפשנא עקת במנא הדין דמיכליה קליל:
wathrem ema bmymra dyy wem mshh ntsw lma asqthwna mmtsrym lmmth bmdbra ary lyth lkhma wlyth mya wnpshna eqth bmna hdyn dmyklyh qlyl
The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”

וגרי יי בעמא ית חיון קלן ונכיתו ית עמא ומית עם סגי מישראל:
wgry yy bema yth khywn qln wnkythw yth ema wmyth em sgy myshral
Yahweh sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.

ואתא עמא למשה ואמרו חבנא ארי אתרעמנא קדם יי ועמך נצינא צלי קדם יי ויעדי מננא ית חויא וצלי משה על עמא:
watha ema lmshh wamrw khbna ary athremna qdm yy wemk ntsyna tsly qdm yy wyedy mnna yth khwya wtsly mshh el ema
The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.

ואמר יי למשה עביד לך קליא ושוי יתיה על את ויהי כל דיתנכית ויחזי יתיה ויתקים:
wamr yy lmshh ebyd lk qlya wshwy ythyh el ath wyhy kl dythnkyth wykhzy ythyh wythqym
Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”

ועבד משה חויא דנחשא ושוייה על את והוה כד נכית חויא ית גברא ומסתכל לחויא דנחשא ומתקים:
webd mshh khwya dnkhsha wshwyyh el ath whwh kd nkyth khwya yth gbra wmsthkl lkhwya dnkhsha wmthqym
Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.

ונטלו בני ישראל ושרו באבת:
wnTlw bny yshral wshrw babth
The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in Oboth.
11
ונטלו מאבת ושרו במגיזת עבראי במדברא די על אפי מואב ממדנח שמשא:
wnTlw mabth wshrw bmgyzth ebray bmdbra dy el apy mwab mmdnkh shmsha
They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise.

מתמן נטלו ושרו בנחלא דזרד:
mthmn nTlw wshrw bnkhla dzrd
From there they traveled, and encamped in the valley of Zered.

מתמן נטלו ושרו מעברא דארנון די במדברא דנפק מתחום אמוראה ארי ארנון תחום מואב בין מואב ובין אמוראה:
mthmn nTlw wshrw mebra darnwn dy bmdbra dnpq mthkhwm amwrah ary arnwn thkhwm mwab byn mwab wbyn amwrah
From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

על כן יתאמר בספרא קרבין דעבד יי על ימא דסוף וגבורן דעל נחלי ארנון:
el kn ythamr bspra qrbyn debd yy el yma dswp wgbwrn del nkhly arnwn
Therefore it is said in The Book of the Wars of Yahweh, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,

ושפוך נחליא דמדברין לקבל לחית ומסתמיך לתחום מואב:
wshpwk nkhlya dmdbryn lqbl lkhyth wmsthmyk lthkhwm mwab
the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”

ומתמן אתיהיבת להון בירא היא בירא די אמר יי למשה כנוש ית עמא ואתן להון מיא:
wmthmn athyhybth lhwn byra hya byra dy amr yy lmshh knwsh yth ema wathn lhwn mya
From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”

בכן שבח ישראל ית תושבחתא הדא סקי בירא שבחו לה:
bkn shbkh yshral yth thwshbkhtha hda sqy byra shbkhw lh
Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, well! Sing to it,

בירא דחפרוה רברביא כרוה רישי עמא ספריא בחוטריהון וממדברא אתיהיבת להון:
byra dkhprwh rbrbya krwh ryshy ema sprya bkhwTryhwn wmmdbra athyhybth lhwn
the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;

ומדאתיהיבת להון נחתא עמהון לנחליא ומנחליא סלקא עמהון לרמתא:
wmdathyhybth lhwn nkhtha emhwn lnkhlya wmnkhlya slqa emhwn lrmtha
and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;

ומרמתא לחיליא די בחקלי מואב ריש רמתא ומסתכיא על אפי בית ישימון:
wmrmtha lkhylya dy bkhqly mwab rysh rmtha wmsthkya el apy byth yshymwn
and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks down on the desert.

ושלח ישראל אזגדין לות סיחון מלכא דאמוראה למימר:
wshlkh yshral azgdyn lwth sykhwn mlka damwrah lmymr
Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

אעבר בארעך לא נסטי בחקל ובכרם לא נשתי מי גוב בארח מלכא נזל עד די נעבר תחומך:
aebr barek la nsTy bkhql wbkrm la nshthy my gwb barkh mlka nzl ed dy nebr thkhwmk
“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”

ולא שבק סיחון ית ישראל למעבר בתחומיה וכנש סיחון ית כל עמיה ונפק לקדמות ישראל למדברא ואתא ליהץ ואגיח קרבא בישראל:
wla shbq sykhwn yth yshral lmebr bthkhwmyh wknsh sykhwn yth kl emyh wnpq lqdmwth yshral lmdbra watha lyhts wagykh qrba byshral
Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz. He fought against Israel.

ומחהי ישראל לפתגם דחרב וירת ית ארעיה מארנונא עד יובקא עד בני עמון ארי תקיף תחומא דבני עמון:
wmkhhy yshral lpthgm dkhrb wyrth yth areyh marnwna ed ywbqa ed bny emwn ary thqyp thkhwma dbny emwn
Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified.

וכבש ישראל ית כל קרויא האלין ויתב ישראל בכל קרוי אמוראה בחשבון ובכל כפרנהא:
wkbsh yshral yth kl qrwya halyn wythb yshral bkl qrwy amwrah bkhshbwn wbkl kprnha
Israel took all these cities. Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages.

ארי חשבון קרתא דסיחון מלכא דאמוראה היא והוא אגח קרבא במלכא דמואב קדמאה ונסיב ית כל ארעיה מידיה עד ארנון:
ary khshbwn qrtha dsykhwn mlka damwrah hya whwa agkh qrba bmlka dmwab qdmah wnsyb yth kl areyh mydyh ed arnwn
For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.

על כן יימרון מתליא עולו לחשבון תתבני ותשתכלל קרתא דסיחון:
el kn yymrwn mthlya ewlw lkhshbwn ththbny wthshthkll qrtha dsykhwn
Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;

ארי קידום תקיף כאשא נפק מחשבון עבדי קרבא כשלהוביתא מקרתא דסיחון קטילו עמא דשרו בלחית מואב כומריא דפלחין בית דחלא רמתא דארנון:
ary qydwm thqyp kasha npq mkhshbwn ebdy qrba kshlhwbytha mqrtha dsykhwn qTylw ema dshrw blkhyth mwab kwmrya dplkhyn byth dkhla rmtha darnwn
for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.

וי לכון מואבאי אבדתון עמא דפלחין לכמוש מסר בנוהי צירין ובנתיה בשביא למלכא דאמוראה סיחון:
wy lkwn mwabay abdthwn ema dplkhyn lkmwsh msr bnwhy tsyryn wbnthyh bshbya lmlka damwrah sykhwn
Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.
30
ומלכו פסקת מחשבון עדא שולטן מדיבון וצדיאו עד נפח דסמיך עד מידבא:
wmlkw psqth mkhshbwn eda shwlTn mdybwn wtsdyaw ed npkh dsmyk ed mydba
We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon. We have laid waste even to Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”

ויתב ישראל בארע אמוראה:
wythb yshral bare amwrah
Thus Israel lived in the land of the Amorites.
32
ושלח משה לאללא ית יעזר וכבשו כפרנהא ותריך ית אמוראה די תמן:
wshlkh mshh lalla yth yezr wkbshw kprnha wthryk yth amwrah dy thmn
Moses sent to spy out Jazer. They took its villages, and drove out the Amorites who were there.
33
ואתפניאו וסליקו לארח מתנן ונפק עוג מלכא דמתנן לקדמותהון הוא וכל עמיה לאגחא קרבא לאדרעי:
wathpnyaw wslyqw larkh mthnn wnpq ewg mlka dmthnn lqdmwthhwn hwa wkl emyh lagkha qrba ladrey
They turned and went up by the way of Bashan. Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.

ואמר יי למשה לא תדחל מניה ארי בידך מסרית יתיה וית כל עמיה וית ארעיה ותעבד ליה כמא די עבדת לסיחון מלכא דאמוראה די יתב בחשבון:
wamr yy lmshh la thdkhl mnyh ary bydk msryth ythyh wyth kl emyh wyth areyh wthebd lyh kma dy ebdth lsykhwn mlka damwrah dy ythb bkhshbwn
Yahweh said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
35
ומחו יתיה וית בנוהי וית כל עמיה עד דלא אשתאר ליה משזיב ויריתו ית ארעיה:
wmkhw ythyh wyth bnwhy wyth kl emyh ed dla ashthar lyh mshzyb wyrythw yth areyh
So they struck him, with his sons and all his people, until there were no survivors; and they possessed his land.
