ושמע כנענאה מלכא דערד יתב דרומא ארי אתא ישראל ארח מאלליא ואגח קרבא בישראל ושבא מניה שביא:
shbya mnyh wshba byshral qrba wagkh mallya arkh yshral atha ary drwma ythb derd mlka knenah wshme
The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.

וקים ישראל קים קדם יי ואמר אם ממסר תמסר ית עמא הדין בידי ואגמר ית קרויהון:
qrwyhwn yth wagmr bydy hdyn ema yth thmsr mmsr am wamr yy qdm qym yshral wqym
Israel vowed a vow to Yahweh, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”

וקביל יי צלותיה דישראל ומסר ית כנענאה וגמר יתהון וית קרויהון וקרא שמא דאתרא חרמה:
khrmh dathra shma wqra qrwyhwn wyth ythhwn wgmr knenah yth wmsr dyshral tslwthyh yy wqbyl
Yahweh listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. The name of the place was called Hormah.

ונטלו מהר טורא ארח ימא דסוף לאקפא ית ארעא דאדום ועקת נפשא דעמא באורחא:
bawrkha dema npsha weqth dadwm area yth laqpa dswp yma arkh Twra mhr wnTlw
They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.

ואתרעם עמא במימרא דיי ועם משה נצו למא אסקתונא ממצרים לממת במדברא ארי לית לחמא ולית מיא ונפשנא עקת במנא הדין דמיכליה קליל:
qlyl dmyklyh hdyn bmna eqth wnpshna mya wlyth lkhma lyth ary bmdbra lmmth mmtsrym asqthwna lma ntsw mshh wem dyy bmymra ema wathrem
The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”

וגרי יי בעמא ית חיון קלן ונכיתו ית עמא ומית עם סגי מישראל:
myshral sgy em wmyth ema yth wnkythw qln khywn yth bema yy wgry
Yahweh sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.

ואתא עמא למשה ואמרו חבנא ארי אתרעמנא קדם יי ועמך נצינא צלי קדם יי ויעדי מננא ית חויא וצלי משה על עמא:
ema el mshh wtsly khwya yth mnna wyedy yy qdm tsly ntsyna wemk yy qdm athremna ary khbna wamrw lmshh ema watha
The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against Yahweh and against you. Pray to Yahweh, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.

ואמר יי למשה עביד לך קליא ושוי יתיה על את ויהי כל דיתנכית ויחזי יתיה ויתקים:
wythqym ythyh wykhzy dythnkyth kl wyhy ath el ythyh wshwy qlya lk ebyd lmshh yy wamr
Yahweh said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”

ועבד משה חויא דנחשא ושוייה על את והוה כד נכית חויא ית גברא ומסתכל לחויא דנחשא ומתקים:
wmthqym dnkhsha lkhwya wmsthkl gbra yth khwya nkyth kd whwh ath el wshwyyh dnkhsha khwya mshh webd
Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.

ונטלו בני ישראל ושרו באבת:
babth wshrw yshral bny wnTlw
The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in Oboth.

ונטלו מאבת ושרו במגיזת עבראי במדברא די על אפי מואב ממדנח שמשא:
shmsha mmdnkh mwab apy el dy bmdbra ebray bmgyzth wshrw mabth wnTlw
They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise.

מתמן נטלו ושרו בנחלא דזרד:
dzrd bnkhla wshrw nTlw mthmn
From there they traveled, and encamped in the valley of Zered.

מתמן נטלו ושרו מעברא דארנון די במדברא דנפק מתחום אמוראה ארי ארנון תחום מואב בין מואב ובין אמוראה:
amwrah wbyn mwab byn mwab thkhwm arnwn ary amwrah mthkhwm dnpq bmdbra dy darnwn mebra wshrw nTlw mthmn
From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.

על כן יתאמר בספרא קרבין דעבד יי על ימא דסוף וגבורן דעל נחלי ארנון:
arnwn nkhly del wgbwrn dswp yma el yy debd qrbyn bspra ythamr kn el
Therefore it is said in The Book of the Wars of Yahweh, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,

ושפוך נחליא דמדברין לקבל לחית ומסתמיך לתחום מואב:
mwab lthkhwm wmsthmyk lkhyth lqbl dmdbryn nkhlya wshpwk
the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”

ומתמן אתיהיבת להון בירא היא בירא די אמר יי למשה כנוש ית עמא ואתן להון מיא:
mya lhwn wathn ema yth knwsh lmshh yy amr dy byra hya byra lhwn athyhybth wmthmn
From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which Yahweh said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”

בכן שבח ישראל ית תושבחתא הדא סקי בירא שבחו לה:
lh shbkhw byra sqy hda thwshbkhtha yth yshral shbkh bkn
Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, well! Sing to it,

בירא דחפרוה רברביא כרוה רישי עמא ספריא בחוטריהון וממדברא אתיהיבת להון:
lhwn athyhybth wmmdbra bkhwTryhwn sprya ema ryshy krwh rbrbya dkhprwh byra
the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;

ומדאתיהיבת להון נחתא עמהון לנחליא ומנחליא סלקא עמהון לרמתא:
lrmtha emhwn slqa wmnkhlya lnkhlya emhwn nkhtha lhwn wmdathyhybth
and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;

ומרמתא לחיליא די בחקלי מואב ריש רמתא ומסתכיא על אפי בית ישימון:
yshymwn byth apy el wmsthkya rmtha rysh mwab bkhqly dy lkhylya wmrmtha
and from Bamoth to the valley that is in the field of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looks down on the desert.

ושלח ישראל אזגדין לות סיחון מלכא דאמוראה למימר:
lmymr damwrah mlka sykhwn lwth azgdyn yshral wshlkh
Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

אעבר בארעך לא נסטי בחקל ובכרם לא נשתי מי גוב בארח מלכא נזל עד די נעבר תחומך:
thkhwmk nebr dy ed nzl mlka barkh gwb my nshthy la wbkrm bkhql nsTy la barek aebr
“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”

ולא שבק סיחון ית ישראל למעבר בתחומיה וכנש סיחון ית כל עמיה ונפק לקדמות ישראל למדברא ואתא ליהץ ואגיח קרבא בישראל:
byshral qrba wagykh lyhts watha lmdbra yshral lqdmwth wnpq emyh kl yth sykhwn wknsh bthkhwmyh lmebr yshral yth sykhwn shbq wla
Sihon would not allow Israel to pass through his border, but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness, and came to Jahaz. He fought against Israel.

ומחהי ישראל לפתגם דחרב וירת ית ארעיה מארנונא עד יובקא עד בני עמון ארי תקיף תחומא דבני עמון:
emwn dbny thkhwma thqyp ary emwn bny ed ywbqa ed marnwna areyh yth wyrth dkhrb lpthgm yshral wmkhhy
Israel struck him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from the Arnon to the Jabbok, even to the children of Ammon; for the border of the children of Ammon was fortified.

וכבש ישראל ית כל קרויא האלין ויתב ישראל בכל קרוי אמוראה בחשבון ובכל כפרנהא:
kprnha wbkl bkhshbwn amwrah qrwy bkl yshral wythb halyn qrwya kl yth yshral wkbsh
Israel took all these cities. Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages.

ארי חשבון קרתא דסיחון מלכא דאמוראה היא והוא אגח קרבא במלכא דמואב קדמאה ונסיב ית כל ארעיה מידיה עד ארנון:
arnwn ed mydyh areyh kl yth wnsyb qdmah dmwab bmlka qrba agkh whwa hya damwrah mlka dsykhwn qrtha khshbwn ary
For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.

על כן יימרון מתליא עולו לחשבון תתבני ותשתכלל קרתא דסיחון:
dsykhwn qrtha wthshthkll ththbny lkhshbwn ewlw mthlya yymrwn kn el
Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;

ארי קידום תקיף כאשא נפק מחשבון עבדי קרבא כשלהוביתא מקרתא דסיחון קטילו עמא דשרו בלחית מואב כומריא דפלחין בית דחלא רמתא דארנון:
darnwn rmtha dkhla byth dplkhyn kwmrya mwab blkhyth dshrw ema qTylw dsykhwn mqrtha kshlhwbytha qrba ebdy mkhshbwn npq kasha thqyp qydwm ary
for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.

וי לכון מואבאי אבדתון עמא דפלחין לכמוש מסר בנוהי צירין ובנתיה בשביא למלכא דאמוראה סיחון:
sykhwn damwrah lmlka bshbya wbnthyh tsyryn bnwhy msr lkmwsh dplkhyn ema abdthwn mwabay lkwn wy
Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.
30
ומלכו פסקת מחשבון עדא שולטן מדיבון וצדיאו עד נפח דסמיך עד מידבא:
mydba ed dsmyk npkh ed wtsdyaw mdybwn shwlTn eda mkhshbwn psqth wmlkw
We have shot at them. Heshbon has perished even to Dibon. We have laid waste even to Nophah, Which reaches to Medeba.”

ושלח משה לאללא ית יעזר וכבשו כפרנהא ותריך ית אמוראה די תמן:
thmn dy amwrah yth wthryk kprnha wkbshw yezr yth lalla mshh wshlkh
Moses sent to spy out Jazer. They took its villages, and drove out the Amorites who were there.

ואתפניאו וסליקו לארח מתנן ונפק עוג מלכא דמתנן לקדמותהון הוא וכל עמיה לאגחא קרבא לאדרעי:
ladrey qrba lagkha emyh wkl hwa lqdmwthhwn dmthnn mlka ewg wnpq mthnn larkh wslyqw wathpnyaw
They turned and went up by the way of Bashan. Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
34
ואמר יי למשה לא תדחל מניה ארי בידך מסרית יתיה וית כל עמיה וית ארעיה ותעבד ליה כמא די עבדת לסיחון מלכא דאמוראה די יתב בחשבון:
bkhshbwn ythb dy damwrah mlka lsykhwn ebdth dy kma lyh wthebd areyh wyth emyh kl wyth ythyh msryth bydk ary mnyh thdkhl la lmshh yy wamr
Yahweh said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
