ואתו בני ישראל כל כנשתא למדברא דצין בירחא קדמאה ויתב עמא ברקם ומיתת תמן מרים ואתקברת תמן:
thmn wathqbrth mrym thmn wmythth brqm ema wythb qdmah byrkha dtsyn lmdbra knshtha kl yshral bny wathw
The children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came into the wilderness of Zin in the first month. The people stayed in Kadesh. Miriam died there, and was buried there.

ולא הוה מיא לכנשתא ואתכנשו על משה ועל אהרן:
ahrn wel mshh el wathknshw lknshtha mya hwh wla
There was no water for the congregation; and they assembled themselves together against Moses and against Aaron.

ונצא עמא עם משה ואמרו למימר ולוי דמתנא במותא דאחנא קדם יי:
yy qdm dakhna bmwtha dmthna wlwy lmymr wamrw mshh em ema wntsa
The people quarreled with Moses, and spoke, saying, “We wish that we had died when our brothers died before Yahweh!

ולמא אעלתון ית קהלא דיי למדברא הדין לממת תמן אנחנא ובעירנא:
wbeyrna ankhna thmn lmmth hdyn lmdbra dyy qhla yth aelthwn wlma
Why have you brought Yahweh’s assembly into this wilderness, that we should die there, we and our animals?

ולמא אסקתונא ממצרים לאיתאה יתנא לאתרא בישא הדין לא אתר כשר לבית זרע ואף לא תינין וגופנין ורמונין ומיא לית למשתי:
lmshthy lyth wmya wrmwnyn wgwpnyn thynyn la wap zre lbyth kshr athr la hdyn bysha lathra ythna laythah mmtsrym asqthwna wlma
Why have you made us to come up out of Egypt, to bring us in to this evil place? It is no place of seed, or of figs, or of vines, or of pomegranates; neither is there any water to drink.”

ועל משה ואהרן מן קדם קהלא לתרע משכן זמנא ונפלו על אפיהון ואתגלי יקרא דיי להון:
lhwn dyy yqra wathgly apyhwn el wnplw zmna mshkn lthre qhla qdm mn wahrn mshh wel
Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly to the door of the Tent of Meeting, and fell on their faces. Yahweh’s glory appeared to them.

סב ית חוטרא ואכנש ית כנשתא את ואהרן אחוך ותמללון עם כיפא לעיניהון ויתן מוהי ותפק להון מיא מן כיפא ותשקי ית כנשתא וית בעירהון:
beyrhwn wyth knshtha yth wthshqy kypa mn mya lhwn wthpq mwhy wythn leynyhwn kypa em wthmllwn akhwk wahrn ath knshtha yth waknsh khwTra yth sb
“Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, you, and Aaron your brother, and speak to the rock before their eyes, that it pour out its water. You shall bring water to them out of the rock; so you shall give the congregation and their livestock drink.”

ונסיב משה ית חוטרא מן קדם יי כמא די פקדיה:
pqdyh dy kma yy qdm mn khwTra yth mshh wnsyb
Moses took the rod from before Yahweh, as he commanded him.

ואכנישו משה ואהרן ית קהלא לקדם כיפא ואמר להון שמעו כען סרבניא המן כיפא הדין נפק לכון מיא:
mya lkwn npq hdyn kypa hmn srbnya ken shmew lhwn wamr kypa lqdm qhla yth wahrn mshh waknyshw
Moses and Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock, and he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Shall we bring water out of this rock for you?”

וארם משה ית ידיה ומחא ית כיפא בחוטריה תרתין זמנין ונפקו מיא סגיאי ושתיאת כנשתא ובעירהון:
wbeyrhwn knshtha wshthyath sgyay mya wnpqw zmnyn thrthyn bkhwTryh kypa yth wmkha ydyh yth mshh warm
Moses lifted up his hand, and struck the rock with his rod twice, and water came out abundantly. The congregation and their livestock drank.

ואמר יי למשה ולאהרן חלף די לא המנתון במימרי לקדשותי לעיני בני ישראל בכן לא תעלון ית קהלא הדין לארעא די יהבית להון:
lhwn yhbyth dy larea hdyn qhla yth thelwn la bkn yshral bny leyny lqdshwthy bmymry hmnthwn la dy khlp wlahrn lmshh yy wamr
Yahweh said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you didn’t believe in me, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.”

אנון מי מצותא די נצו בני ישראל קדם יי ואתקדש בהון:
bhwn wathqdsh yy qdm yshral bny ntsw dy mtswtha my anwn
These are the waters of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with Yahweh, and he was sanctified in them.

ושלח משה אזגדין מרקם לות מלכא דאדום כדנן אמר אחוך ישראל את ידעת ית כל עקתא די אשכחתנא:
ashkkhthna dy eqtha kl yth ydeth ath yshral akhwk amr kdnn dadwm mlka lwth mrqm azgdyn mshh wshlkh
Moses sent messengers from Kadesh to the king of Edom, saying: “Your brother Israel says: You know all the travail that has happened to us;

ונחתו אבהתנא למצרים ויתבנא במצרים יומין סגיאין ואבאישו לנא מצראי ולאבהתנא:
wlabhthna mtsray lna wabayshw sgyayn ywmyn bmtsrym wythbna lmtsrym abhthna wnkhthw
how our fathers went down into Egypt, and we lived in Egypt a long time. The Egyptians mistreated us and our fathers.

וצלינא קדם יי וקביל צלותנא ושלח מלאכא ואפקנא ממצרים והא אנחנא ברקם קרתא דבסטר תחומך:
thkhwmk dbsTr qrtha brqm ankhna wha mmtsrym wapqna mlaka wshlkh tslwthna wqbyl yy qdm wtslyna
When we cried to Yahweh, he heard our voice, sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the edge of your border.

נעבר כען בארעך לא נעבר בחקל ובכרם ולא נשתי מי גוב בארח מלכא נזל לא נסטי לימינא ולשמאלא עד דנעבר תחומך:
thkhwmk dnebr ed wlshmala lymyna nsTy la nzl mlka barkh gwb my nshthy wla wbkrm bkhql nebr la barek ken nebr
“Please let us pass through your land. We will not pass through field or through vineyard, neither will we drink from the water of the wells. We will go along the king’s highway. We will not turn away to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed your border.”

ואמר ליה אדומאה לא תעבר בתחומי דילמא בדקטלין בחרבא אפוק לקדמותך:
lqdmwthk apwq bkhrba bdqTlyn dylma bthkhwmy thebr la adwmah lyh wamr
Edom said to him, “You shall not pass through me, lest I come out with the sword against you.”

ואמרו ליה בני ישראל בארח כבישא נסק ואם מימך נשתי אנא ובעירי ואתן דמיהון לחוד לית פתגם דביש ברגלי אעבר:
aebr brgly dbysh pthgm lyth lkhwd dmyhwn wathn wbeyry ana nshthy mymk wam nsq kbysha barkh yshral bny lyh wamrw
The children of Israel said to him, “We will go up by the highway; and if we drink your water, I and my livestock, then I will give its price. Only let me, without doing anything else, pass through on my feet.”

ואמר לא תעבר ונפק אדומאה לקדמותיה בחיל רב ובידא תקיפא:
thqypa wbyda rb bkhyl lqdmwthyh adwmah wnpq thebr la wamr
He said, “You shall not pass through.” Edom came out against him with many people, and with a strong hand.
21
וסריב אדומאה למשבק ית ישראל למעבר בתחומיה וסטא ישראל מלותיה:
mlwthyh yshral wsTa bthkhwmyh lmebr yshral yth lmshbq adwmah wsryb
Thus Edom refused to give Israel passage through his border, so Israel turned away from him.

ונטלו מרקם ואתו בני ישראל כל כנשתא להר טורא:
Twra lhr knshtha kl yshral bny wathw mrqm wnTlw
They traveled from Kadesh, and the children of Israel, even the whole congregation, came to Mount Hor.
23
ואמר יי למשה ולאהרן בהר טורא על תחום ארעא דאדום למימר:
lmymr dadwm area thkhwm el Twra bhr wlahrn lmshh yy wamr
Yahweh spoke to Moses and Aaron in Mount Hor, by the border of the land of Edom, saying,

יתכנש אהרן לעמיה ארי לא ייעול לארעא די יהבית לבני ישראל על די סריבתון על מימרי למי מצותא:
mtswtha lmy mymry el srybthwn dy el yshral lbny yhbyth dy larea yyewl la ary lemyh ahrn ythknsh
“Aaron shall be gathered to his people; for he shall not enter into the land which I have given to the children of Israel, because you rebelled against my word at the waters of Meribah.

דבר ית אהרן וית אלעזר בריה ואסיק יתהון להר טורא:
Twra lhr ythhwn wasyq bryh alezr wyth ahrn yth dbr
Take Aaron and Eleazar his son, and bring them up to Mount Hor;
26
ואשלח ית אהרן ית לבושוהי ותלבשנון ית אלעזר בריה ואהרן יתכנש וימות תמן:
thmn wymwth ythknsh wahrn bryh alezr yth wthlbshnwn lbwshwhy yth ahrn yth washlkh
and strip Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron shall be gathered, and shall die there.”

ועבד משה כמא די פקיד יי וסליקו להר טורא לעיני כל כנשתא:
knshtha kl leyny Twra lhr wslyqw yy pqyd dy kma mshh webd
Moses did as Yahweh commanded. They went up onto Mount Hor in the sight of all the congregation.
28
ואשלח משה ית אהרן ית לבושוהי ואלביש יתהון ית אלעזר בריה ומית אהרן תמן בריש טורא ונחת משה ואלעזר מן טורא:
Twra mn walezr mshh wnkhth Twra brysh thmn ahrn wmyth bryh alezr yth ythhwn walbysh lbwshwhy yth ahrn yth mshh washlkh
Moses stripped Aaron of his garments, and put them on Eleazar his son. Aaron died there on the top of the mountain, and Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain.
