ܗܝܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܫ̣ܡܥ ܣܡܒܠܝܛ ܘܛܘܒܝܐ ܘܥܪ̈ܒܝܐ ܘܥܡܘ̈ܢܝܐ ܘܐܫܕܘ̈ܕܝܐ ܕܐܬܝܗܒ ܙܒܢܐ ܠܫܘܪܐ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܠܡܬܒܢܝܘ ܘܫ̇ܪܝ ܬܘܪ̈ܥܬܐ ܠܡܣܬܟܪܘ ܟܪܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܛܒ
Tb lhwn kryth lmsthkrw thwreth' wshry lmthbnyw d'wrshlm lshwr' zbn' d'thyhb w'shdwdy' wemwny' werby' wTwby' smblyT shme kd hydyn
But when Sanballat heard that we were building the wall, he was angry, and was very indignant, and mocked the Jews.

ܘܐܬܚܫܒܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܐܟܚܕܐ ܠܡܐܬܐ ܠܡܬܟܬܫܘ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܠܡܥܒܕ ܠܗܘܢ ܬܘܩܠܬܐ
thwqlth' lhwn wlmebd b'wrshlm lmthkthshw lm'th' 'kkhd' klhwn w'thkhshbw
He spoke before his brothers and the army of Samaria, and said, “What are these feeble Jews doing? Will they fortify themselves? Will they sacrifice? Will they finish in a day? Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of rubbish, since they are burned?”

ܘܨ̇ܠܝܢ ܩܕܡ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܢܩܝܡ ܥܠܝܢ ܢܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܘܒܠܠܝܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ
qdmyhwn mn wblly' b'ymm' nTwr' elyn dnqym 'lh' qdm wtslyn
Now Tobiah the Ammonite was by him, and he said, “What they are building, if a fox climbed up it, he would break down their stone wall.”

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܝܗܘ̈ܕܝܐ ܒ̣ܨܪ ܠܗ ܚܝܠܐ ܡܢ ܩܘܦ̈ܝܐ ܘܥܦܪܐ ܣ̇ܓܝ ܛܒ ܘܚܢܢ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܠܡܒܢܐ ܫܘܪܐ

“Hear, our God, for we are despised. Turn back their reproach on their own head. Give them up for a plunder in a land of captivity.

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܣܢܐܝ̈ܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܕܥܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܚܙܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܢܦܠ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܢܩ̇ܛܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܢܒ̇ܛܠ ܥ̇ܒܕܗܘܢ
ebdhwn wnbTl 'nwn wnqTl elyhwn dnpl edm' nkhzwn wl' ndewn dl' sn'yn w'mryn
Don’t cover their iniquity. Don’t let their sin be blotted out from before you; for they have insulted the builders.”

ܘܐܬܘ ܝܗܘ̈ܕܝܐ ܕܝܬܒܝܢ ܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܢ ܗܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܥܣܪ ܙܒ̈ܢܝܢ ܐܬܘ ܠܡܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܟܘܠܗܘܢ ܐܬܪ̈ܘܬܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫ̣ܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܗܘܢ
bhwn hww dshdyn 'ylyn 'thrwth' kwlhwn mn emkwn lmthkthshw 'thw zbnyn esr mkyl h' ln w'mryn lwthhwn dythbyn yhwdy' w'thw
So we built the wall; and all the wall was joined together to half its height, for the people had a mind to work.

ܘܐܬܘ ܘܩܡܘ ܡܢ ܒܣܬܪ ܫܘܪܐ ܠܡܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܒܓܐܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܘܦܠܓܘܗܝ ܠܚܝܠܐ ܠܛܘܗܡ̈ܐ ܥܡ ܣܝ̈ܦܝܗܘܢ ܘܪ̈ܘܡܚܐ ܘܩ̈ܫܬܬܐ
wqshthth' wrwmkh' sypyhwn em lTwhm' lkhyl' wplgwhy bg'ryhwn emkwn lmthkthshw shwr' bsthr mn wqmw w'thw
But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabians, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites heard that the repairing of the walls of Jerusalem went forward, and that the breaches began to be filled, they were very angry;

ܘܕܚ̇ܠܬ ܘܩܡ̇ܬ ܘܐܡ̇ܪܬ ܠܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܘܠܫܠܝ̈ܛܢܐ ܘܠܫܪܟܐ ܕܥܡܐ ܠܐ ܬܕܚܠܘܢ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܗܘܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܪܒܐ ܘܕܚܝܠܐ ܐܬܕܟܪܘ ܘܐܬܟܬܫܘ ܥܠ ܐܦܝ̈ ܐܚܝ̈ܟܘܢ ܘܥܠ ܐܦܝ̈ ܒܢܝ̈ܟܘܢ ܘܒܢ̈ܬܟܘܢ
wbnthkwn bnykwn 'py wel 'khykwn 'py el w'thkthshw 'thdkrw wdkhyl' rb' lmry' qdmyhwn mn thdkhlwn l' dem' wlshrk' wlshlyTn' lrwrbn' w'mrth wqmth wdkhlth
and they all conspired together to come and fight against Jerusalem, and to cause confusion among us.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܫܡܥܘ ܒܥܠܕܒ̈ܒܝܢ ܕܐܬܝܕܥ̣ܬ ܠܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܒ̇ܛܠ ܡܪܝܐ ܡܘ̈ܠܟܢܝܗܘܢ ܐܬܗܦܟܢ ܟܘܠܢ ܘܣܠܩܢ ܠܫܘܪܐ ܘܥܒܕܝܢ ܗܘ̣ܝܢ ܟܠܢ ܓܒܪ ܒܥ̇ܒܕܗ
bebdh gbr kln hwyn webdyn lshwr' wslqn kwln 'thhpkn mwlknyhwn mry' wbTl mlth' ln d'thydeth beldbbyn shmew kd hydyn
But we made our prayer to our God, and set a watch against them day and night because of them.

ܘܦܠܓܐ ܕܥܠܝ̈ܡܐ ܡܢ ܝܘܡܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܘܠܗܠ ܦܠܓܗܘܢ ܕܥܡܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ ܘܦܠܓܗܘܢ ܐܚܝܕܝܢ ܪ̈ܘܡܚܐ ܘܣܟܪ̈ܐ ܘܩܫ̈ܬܬܐ ܘܫܪ̈ܝܢܐ ܘܡܫܡ̈ܫܢܐ ܩܝܡܝܢ ܒܣܬܪ ܝܗܘ̈ܕܝܐ
yhwdy' bsthr qymyn wmshmshn' wshryn' wqshthth' wskr' rwmkh' 'khydyn wplghwn ebd' ebdyn dem' plghwn wlhl hw ywm' mn delym' wplg'
Judah said, “The strength of the bearers of burdens is fading and there is much rubble, so that we are not able to build the wall.”

ܘܒ̇ܢܝܢ ܫܘܪܐ ܘܕܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܒܩܘ̈ܦܐ ܫܩܝܠܝܢ ܒܚܕܐ ܐܝܕܗ ܥ̇ܒܕ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ ܘܒܚܕܐ ܫܩܝܠ ܙܝܢܐ
zyn' shqyl wbkhd' ebd' ebd 'ydh bkhd' shqylyn bqwp' wdshqylyn shwr' wbnyn
Our adversaries said, “They will not know or see, until we come in among them and kill them, and cause the work to cease.”

ܘܐܪܕܟܠܐ ܐܚܝܕ ܓܒܪ ܣܝܦܐ ܘܩܐܡ ܘܒ̇ܢܐ ܘܕܩ̇ܪܐ ܒܩܪܢܐ ܩܐܡ ܒܣܬܪܗ
bsthrh q'm bqrn' wdqr' wbn' wq'm syp' gbr 'khyd w'rdkl'
When the Jews who lived by them came, they said to us ten times from all places, “Wherever you turn, they will attack us.”

ܘܐܡ̇ܪܬ ܠܪ̈ܘܪܒܢܐ ܘܠܫܠܝ̈ܛܢܐ ܘܠܫܪܟܐ ܕܥܡܐ ܥܒܝܕܬܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܐܪܘܝܚܐ ܘܚܢܢ ܦܪܝܫܝܢܢ ܘܩܝܡܝܢܢ ܥܠ ܫܘܪܐ ܘܦܪܝܩܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܓܒܪ ܡܢ ܐܚܘܗܝ
'khwhy mn gbr khnn wpryqyn shwr' el wqymynn pryshynn wkhnn w'rwykh' sgy'' ebydth' dem' wlshrk' wlshlyTn' lrwrbn' w'mrth
Therefore I set guards in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places. I set the people by family groups with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

ܘܒܕܘܟܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܫܡܥܝܬܘܢ ܩܠܐ ܕܩܪܢܐ ܠܬܡܢ ܬܬܩܪܒܘܢ ܠܘܬܢ ܘܐܠܗܢ ܢܬܟܬܫ ܥܠ ܐܦܝ̈ܢ
'pyn el nthkthsh w'lhn lwthn ththqrbwn lthmn dqrn' ql' dshmeythwn dyn wbdwkth'
I looked, and rose up, and said to the nobles, to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them! Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.”

ܘܚܢܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܒܥ̇ܒܕܢ ܘܦܠܓܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܚܝܕܝܢ ܪ̈ܘܡܚܐ ܡܢ ܡܣ̈ܩܝ ܫܦ̣ܪܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܢܦܩܝܢ ܟܘܟ̈ܒܐ
kwkb' dnpqyn edm' shpr' msqy mn rwmkh' 'khydyn nhwwn wplgn bebdn ebdyn nhw' wkhnn
When our enemies heard that it was known to us, and God had brought their counsel to nothing, all of us returned to the wall, everyone to his work.

ܐܦ ܒܗ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗ̇ܘ ܐܡ̇ܪܬ ܠܥܡܐ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܘܛܠܝܗ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܒܝܬܝܢ ܒܓܘ ܫܘܩ̈ܐ ܕܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܢܛܪܝܢ ܠܗ̇ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܘܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܥ̇ܒܕܐ
ebd' ebdyn wnhwwn wb'ymm' blly' lh nTryn wnhwwn d'wrshlm shwq' bgw bythyn nhwwn wTlyh dgbr' lem' 'mrth hw bzbn' bh 'p
From that time forth, half of my servants did the work, and half of them held the spears, the shields, the bows, and the coats of mail; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah.

ܘܐܢܐ ܘܐܚܝ̈ ܘܛܠܝ̈ܝ ܘܐܢ̈ܫܐ ܢܛܘܪ̈ܐ ܕܒܬܪܝ ܠܐ ܫܠܚܝܢܢ ܢܚ̈ܬܝܢ ܝܪܚܐ ܕܝܘܡ̈ܬܐ ܐܢܫ ܕܡ̇ܛܐ ܠܗ
lh dmT' 'nsh dywmth' yrkh' nkhthyn shlkhynn l' dbthry nTwr' w'nsh' wTlyy w'khy w'n'
Those who built the wall, and those who bore burdens loaded themselves; everyone with one of his hands did the work, and with the other held his weapon.
