וי קרתא אשדת דם כולה כדבין בזא מליא לא פסיק קטול:
qTwl psyq la mlya bza kdbyn kwlh dm ashdth qrtha wy
Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery—no end to the prey.

קל נקוש מחא וקל זיוע גלגלין וסוסון מפנכין ורתיכין מקפצן:
mqptsn wrthykyn mpnkyn wswswn glglyn zywe wql mkha nqwsh ql
The noise of the whip, the noise of the rattling of wheels, prancing horses, and bounding chariots,

פרש מסיק ולהוב וצלהוב סיפין וצחצוח מורנין וסגי קטילין והמון פגרין לית סוף לקטיליא יתקלון בקטיליהון:
bqTylyhwn ythqlwn lqTylya swp lyth pgryn whmwn qTylyn wsgy mwrnyn wtskhtswkh sypyn wtslhwb wlhwb msyq prsh
the horseman charging, and the flashing sword, the glittering spear, and a multitude of slain, and a great heap of corpses, and there is no end of the bodies. They stumble on their bodies

מסגיאות אתרגושת קרתא דהיא כטעיתא נפקת ברא שפירת ריוו ידעא חרשין דמכרא עממיא בטעותהא ומלכותא בחרשהא:
bkhrshha wmlkwtha bTewthha emmya dmkra khrshyn ydea ryww shpyrth bra npqth kTeytha dhya qrtha athrgwshth msgyawth
because of the multitude of the prostitution of the alluring prostitute, the mistress of witchcraft, who sells nations through her prostitution, and families through her witchcraft.

הא אנא שלח רוגזי עלך אמר יי צבאות ואגלי בהתת חובך על אפך ואחזי עממיא בהתתיך ומלכותא קלניך:
qlnyk wmlkwtha bhththyk emmya wakhzy apk el khwbk bhthth wagly tsbawth yy amr elk rwgzy shlkh ana ha
“Behold, I am against you,” says Yahweh of Armies, “and I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show the nations your nakedness, and the kingdoms your shame.

וארמי עלך שקוצין ואנבליניך ואשויניך מכערא לעיני כל חזך:
khzk kl leyny mkera washwynyk wanblynyk shqwtsyn elk warmy
I will throw abominable filth on you and make you vile, and will make you a spectacle.

ויהי כל די יחזיניך יתרחק מניך ויימר אתבזיזת נינוה מן ידוי עלך איפא אשכח מנחמין לך:
lk mnkhmyn ashkkh aypa elk ydwy mn nynwh athbzyzth wyymr mnyk ythrkhq ykhzynyk dy kl wyhy
It will happen that all those who look at you will flee from you, and say, ‘Nineveh is laid waste! Who will mourn for her?’ Where will I seek comforters for you?”

הא את טבא מאלכסנדריא רבתא דיתבא ביני נהרותא מיא סחור סחור לה דשורה ימא מימא שורהא:
shwrha myma yma dshwrh lh skhwr skhwr mya nhrwtha byny dythba rbtha malksndrya Tba ath ha
Are you better than No-Amon, who was situated among the rivers, who had the waters around her, whose rampart was the sea, and her wall was of the sea?

כוש סומכתהא ומצרים ולית סוף פוטאי ולובאי הוו בסעדיך:
bsedyk hww wlwbay pwTay swp wlyth wmtsrym swmkthha kwsh
Cush and Egypt were her boundless strength. Put and Libya were her helpers.

אף היא בגלותא תהך בשביא אף עולמהא וטרפון בריש כל שוקיא ועל יקירהא רמו עדבין וכל רברבהא ידקדקון בשלשלן:
bshlshln ydqdqwn rbrbha wkl edbyn rmw yqyrha wel shwqya kl brysh wTrpwn ewlmha ap bshbya thhk bglwtha hya ap
Yet was she carried away. She went into captivity. Her young children also were dashed in pieces at the head of all the streets, and they cast lots for her honorable men, and all her great men were bound in chains.

אף את דמיא לרויא תהי מסלעמא אף את תבעין סעיד מבעיל דבבא:
dbba mbeyl seyd thbeyn ath ap mslema thhy lrwya dmya ath ap
You also will be drunken. You will be hidden. You also will seek a stronghold because of the enemy.

כל כרכך דמן לתינין בכירן דאם ירעדונונון יתרון וישתארון בהון צמוקין דכשרין למיכל:
lmykl dkshryn tsmwqyn bhwn wyshtharwn ythrwn yredwnwnwn dam bkyrn lthynyn dmn krkk kl
All your fortresses will be like fig trees with the first-ripe figs. If they are shaken, they fall into the mouth of the eater.

הא עמך חלשין כנשיא בגויך לבעלי דבביך אתפתחו תרעי ארעיך אכלת אשתא תוקפיך:
thwqpyk ashtha aklth areyk threy athpthkhw dbbyk lbely bgwyk knshya khlshyn emk ha
Behold, your troops among you are women. The gates of your land are set wide open to your enemies. The fire has devoured your bars.

מיא בצירא כנושי לגויך תקפי כרכיך אסגא מרוא ושעבידי בטינא אתקיפי בניניך:
bnynyk athqypy bTyna wshebydy mrwa asga krkyk thqpy lgwyk knwshy btsyra mya
Draw water for the siege. Strengthen your fortresses. Go into the clay, and tread the mortar. Make the brick kiln strong.

לתמן ויתון עלך עממיא דתקיפין כאשתא ישיצוניך קטולי חרבא יתכנשון עלך משרית עממין דסגיאין כזחלא יחפוניך כגובא:
kgwba ykhpwnyk kzkhla dsgyayn emmyn mshryth elk ythknshwn khrba qTwly yshytswnyk kashtha dthqypyn emmya elk wythwn lthmn
There the fire will devour you. The sword will cut you off. It will devour you like the grasshopper. Multiply like grasshoppers. Multiply like the locust.

אסגית תגריך מכוכבי שמיא הא כזחלא דשלח ופרח:
wprkh dshlkh kzkhla ha shmya mkwkby thgryk asgyth
You have increased your merchants more than the stars of the skies. The grasshopper strips and flees away.

הא טסך מצלהבין כגובא וטפסריך כזחיל גובאי די שרן בכתליא ביום קריר דכד שמשא דנחא עליהון מתבדרין ולא אתידע אתריהון לאן ערקין:
erqyn lan athryhwn athyde wla mthbdryn elyhwn dnkha shmsha dkd qryr bywm bkthlya shrn dy gwbay kzkhyl wTpsryk kgwba mtslhbyn Tsk ha
Your guards are like the locusts, and your officials like the swarms of locusts, which settle on the walls on a cold day, but when the sun appears, they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

אתברו גברך מלכא דאתור גלו עם משריתך אתבדרו עמך על טוריא ולית דמכניש:
dmknysh wlyth Twrya el emk athbdrw mshrythk em glw dathwr mlka gbrk athbrw
Your shepherds slumber, king of Assyria. Your nobles lie down. Your people are scattered on the mountains, and there is no one to gather them.

לית דכאיב ליה על תבריך ממרעא מחתך כל די שמעו שמעתך טפחו ידיהון עלך חדיאו ארי על מן לא עדת מחת בישתיך תדירא:
thdyra byshthyk mkhth edth la mn el ary khdyaw elk ydyhwn Tpkhw shmethk shmew dy kl mkhthk mmrea thbryk el lyh dkayb lyth
There is no healing your wound, for your injury is fatal. All who hear the report of you clap their hands over you, for who hasn’t felt your endless cruelty?
