ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܫܠܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܡܠܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ

When Jesus had finished all these words, he said to his disciples,

ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܒܬܪ ܬܪܝܢ ܝܘܡܝܢ ܗܘܐ ܦܨܚܐ ܘܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܡܫܬܠܡ ܕܢܙܕܩܦ

“You know that after two days the Passover is coming, and the Son of Man will be delivered up to be crucified.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܣܦܪܐ ܘܩܫܝܫܐ ܕܥܡܐ ܠܕܪܬܗ ܕܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܐ ܩܝܦܐ

Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people were gathered together in the court of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas.

ܘܐܬܡܠܟܘ ܥܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܒܢܟܠܐ ܢܐܚܕܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܢܩܛܠܘܢܝܗܝ

They took counsel together that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill him.

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܐ ܒܥܕܥܕܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܫܓܘܫܝܐ ܒܥܡܐ

But they said, “Not during the feast, lest a riot occur among the people.”

ܘܟܕ ܗܘܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܒܝܬ-ܥܢܝܐ ܒܒܝܬܗ ܕܫܡܥܘܢ ܓܪܒܐ

Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper,

ܩܪܒܬ ܠܗ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܥܠܝܗ ܫܛܝܦܬܐ ܕܡܫܚܐ ܕܒܣܡܐ ܣܓܝ ܕܡܝܐ ܘܐܫܦܥܬܗ ܥܠ ܪܫܗ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܟܕ ܣܡܝܟ

a woman came to him having an alabaster jar of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he sat at the table.

ܚܙܘ ܕܝܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܬܒܐܫ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܡܢܐ ܐܒܕܢܐ ܗܢܐ

But when his disciples saw this, they were indignant, saying, “Why this waste?

ܡܫܟܚ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܢܙܕܒܢ ܗܢܐ ܒܣܓܝ ܘܢܬܝܗܒ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ

For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.”

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܝܕܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܡܠܐܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܥܒܕܐ ܫܦܝܪܐ ܥܒܕܬ ܠܘܬܝ

However, knowing this, Jesus said to them,
“Why do you trouble the woman? She has done a good work for me.

ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܓܝܪ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܠܝ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܒܟܠܙܒܢ ܐܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ
bklzbn gyr mskn' 'yth lkwn emkwn ly dyn l' bklzbn 'yth lkwn
For you always have the poor with you; but you don’t always have me.

ܗܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܪܡܝܬ ܒܣܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܥܠ ܓܘܫܡܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܡܩܒܪܢܝ ܥܒܕܬ
hd' dyn d'rmyth bsm' hn' el gwshmy 'yk dlmqbrny ebdth
For in pouring this ointment on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.

ܘܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܝܟܐ ܕܬܬܟܪܙ ܣܒܪܬܝ ܗܕܐ ܒܟܠܗ ܥܠܡܐ ܢܬܡܠܠ ܐܦ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕܬ ܗܕܐ ܠܕܘܟܪܢܗ
w'myn 'mr 'n' lkwn d'yk' dththkrz sbrthy hd' bklh elm' nthmll 'p mdm debdth hd' ldwkrnh
Most certainly I tell you, wherever this Good News is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of as a memorial of her.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܙܠ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܬܪܥܣܪ ܕܡܬܩܪܐ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܣܟܪܝܘܛܐ ܠܘܬ ܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ

Then one of the twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests,

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܬܠ ܠܝ ܘܐܢܐ ܡܫܠܡ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܠܟܘܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܩܝܡܘ ܠܗ ܬܠܬܝܢ ܕܟܣܦܐ

and said, “What are you willing to give me, that I should deliver him to you?” They weighed out for him thirty pieces of silver.

ܘܡܢ ܗܝܕܝܢ ܒܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܦܠܥܐ ܕܢܫܠܡܝܘܗܝ

From that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܝܢ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܕܦܛܝܪܐ ܩܪܒܘ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܠܘܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܐܝܟܐ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܬ ܕܢܛܝܒ ܠܟ ܕܬܠܥܣ ܦܨܚܐ

Now on the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying to him, “Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܙܠܘ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܠܘܬ ܦܠܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܪܒܢ ܐܡܪ ܙܒܢܝ ܡܛܐ ܠܗ ܠܘܬܟ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܦܨܚܐ ܥܡ ܬܠܡܝܕܝ

He said,
“Go into the city to a certain person, and tell him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is at hand. I will keep the Passover at your house with my disciples.”’”

ܘܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܥܒܕܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܦܩܕ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܛܝܒܘ ܦܨܚܐ

The disciples did as Jesus commanded them, and they prepared the Passover.

ܘܟܕ ܗܘܐ ܪܡܫܐ ܣܡܝܟ ܗܘܐ ܥܡ ܬܪܥܣܪ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ

Now when evening had come, he was reclining at the table with the twelve disciples.

ܘܟܕ ܠܥܣܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܚܕ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܡܫܠܡ ܠܝ

As they were eating, he said,
“Most certainly I tell you that one of you will betray me.”

ܘܟܪܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܛܒ ܘܫܪܝܘ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܚܕ ܚܕ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܠܡܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܪܝ

They were exceedingly sorrowful, and each began to ask him, “It isn’t me, is it, Lord?”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܥܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܢ ܕܨܒܥ ܐܝܕܗ ܥܡܝ ܒܠܓܬܐ ܗܘ ܢܫܠܡܢܝ

He answered,
“He who dipped his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me.

ܘܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܐܙܠ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܟܬܝܒ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܝ ܠܗ ܕܝܢ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܕܒܐܝܕܗ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܡܫܬܠܡ ܦܩܚ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܐܠܘ ܠܐ ܐܬܝܠܕ
wbrh d'nsh' 'zl 'ykn' dkthyb elwhy wy lh dyn lgbr' hw db'ydh brh d'nsh' mshthlm pqkh hw' lh lgbr' hw 'lw l' 'thyld
The Son of Man goes, even as it is written of him, but woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed! It would be better for that man if he had not been born.”

ܥܢܐ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܡܫܠܡܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܕܠܡܐ ܐܢܐ ܗܘ ܪܒܝ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢܬ ܐܡܪܬ

Judas, who betrayed him, answered, “It isn’t me, is it, Rabbi?”
He said to him,
“You said it.”

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܠܥܣܝܢ ܫܩܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܚܡܐ ܘܒܪܟ ܘܩܨܐ ܘܝܗܒ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܣܒܘ ܐܟܘܠܘ ܗܢܘ ܦܓܪܝ

As they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks for it, and broke it. He gave to the disciples, and said,
“Take, eat; this is my body.”

ܘܫܩܠ ܟܣܐ ܘܐܘܕܝ ܘܝܗܒ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܣܒܘ ܐܫܬܘ ܡܢܗ ܟܠܟܘܢ

He took the cup, gave thanks, and gave to them, saying,
“All of you drink it,

ܗܢܘ ܕܡܝ ܕܕܝܬܩܐ ܚܕܬܐ ܕܚܠܦ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܡܬܐܫܕ ܠܫܘܒܩܢܐ ܕܚܛܗܐ

for this is my blood of the new covenant, which is poured out for many for the remission of sins.

ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܬܐ ܡܢ ܗܫܐ ܡܢ ܗܢܐ ܝܠܕܐ ܕܓܦܬܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܒܗ ܐܫܬܝܘܗܝ ܥܡܟܘܢ ܚܕܬܐ ܒܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܒܝ
'mr 'n' lkwn dyn dl' 'shth' mn hsh' mn hn' yld' dgpth' edm' lywm' dbh 'shthywhy emkwn khdth' bmlkwthh d'by
But I tell you that I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on, until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s Kingdom.”

ܘܫܒܚܘ ܘܢܦܩܘ ܠܛܘܪ ܙܝܬܐ

When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܟܠܟܘܢ ܬܬܟܫܠܘܢ ܒܝ ܒܗܢܐ ܠܠܝܐ ܟܬܝܒ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܡܚܐ ܠܪܥܝܐ ܘܢܬܒܕܪܘܢ ܥܪܒܐ ܕܥܢܗ

Then Jesus said to them,
“All of you will be made to stumble because of me tonight, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܕܩܐܡ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܩܕܡ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܓܠܝܠܐ

But after I am raised up, I will go before you into Galilee.”

ܥܢܐ ܟܐܦܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܦܢ ܟܠܢܫ ܢܬܟܫܠ ܒܟ ܐܢܐ ܡܬܘܡ ܠܐ ܐܬܟܫܠ ܒܟ

But Peter answered him, “Even if all will be made to stumble because of you, I will never be made to stumble.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܕܒܗܢܐ ܠܠܝܐ ܩܕܡ ܕܢܩܪܐ ܬܪܢܓܠܐ ܬܠܬ ܙܒܢܝܢ ܬܟܦܘܪ ܒܝ

Jesus said to him,
“Most certainly I tell you that tonight, before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܟܐܦܐ ܐܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܝ ܠܡܡܬ ܥܡܟ ܠܐ ܐܟܦܘܪ ܒܟ ܘܗܟܘܬ ܐܦ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܐܡܪܘ

Peter said to him, “Even if I must die with you, I will not deny you.” All of the disciples also said likewise.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܬܐ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܕܘܟܬܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܝܐ ܓܕܣܡܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܬܒܘ ܗܪܟܐ ܥܕ ܐܙܠ ܐܨܠܐ

Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples,
“Sit here, while I go there and pray.”

ܘܕܒܪ ܠܟܐܦܐ ܘܠܬܪܝܗܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܙܒܕܝ ܘܫܪܝ ܠܡܬܟܡܪܘ ܘܠܡܬܥܩܘ

He took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and severely troubled.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܪܝܐ ܗܝ ܠܗ ܠܢܦܫܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܡܘܬܐ ܩܘܘ ܠܝ ܗܪܟܐ ܘܫܗܪܘ ܥܡܝ

Then he said to them,
“My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here, and watch with me.”

ܘܦܪܩ ܩܠܝܠ ܘܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܐܦܘܗܝ ܘܡܨܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܒܝ ܐܢ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܢܥܒܪܢܝ ܟܣܐ ܗܢܐ ܒܪܡ ܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܢܐ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܢܬ

He went forward a little, fell on his face, and prayed, saying,
“My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass away from me; nevertheless, not what I desire, but what you desire.”

ܘܐܬܐ ܠܘܬ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܫܟܚ ܐܢܘܢ ܟܕ ܕܡܟܝܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܟܐܦܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܬܘܢ ܚܕܐ ܫܥܐ ܕܬܫܗܪܘܢ ܥܡܝ

He came to the disciples, and found them sleeping, and said to Peter,
“What, couldn’t you watch with me for one hour?

ܐܬܬܥܝܪܘ ܘܨܠܘ ܕܠܐ ܬܥܠܘܢ ܠܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܪܘܚܐ ܡܛܝܒܐ ܦܓܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܪܝܗ
'ththeyrw wtslw dl' thelwn lnsywn' rwkh' mTyb' pgr' dyn kryh
Watch and pray, that you don’t enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

ܬܘܒ ܐܙܠ ܕܬܪܬܝܢ ܙܒܢܝܢ ܨܠܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܒܝ ܐܢ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܗܢܐ ܟܣܐ ܕܢܥܒܪ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܐܫܬܝܬܗ ܢܗܘܐ ܨܒܝܢܟ

Again, a second time he went away, and prayed, saying,
“My Father, if this cup can’t pass away from me unless I drink it, your desire be done.”

ܘܐܬܐ ܬܘܒ ܐܫܟܚ ܐܢܘܢ ܟܕ ܕܡܟܝܢ ܥܝܢܝܗܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܝܩܝܪܢ ܗܘܝ

He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy.

ܘܫܒܩ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܙܠ ܬܘܒ ܨܠܝ ܕܬܠܬ ܙܒܢܝܢ ܘܠܗ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܐܡܪ

He left them again, went away, and prayed a third time, saying the same words.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܬ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܡܟܘ ܡܟܝܠ ܘܐܬܬܢܝܚܘ ܗܐ ܡܛܬ ܫܥܬܐ ܘܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܡܫܬܠܡ ܒܐܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܕܚܛܝܐ

Then he came to his disciples, and said to them,
“Sleep on now, and take your rest. Behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

ܩܘܡܘ ܢܐܙܠ ܗܐ ܡܛܐ ܗܘ ܕܡܫܠܡ ܠܝ

Arise, let’s be going. Behold, he who betrays me is at hand.”

ܘܥܕ ܗܘ ܡܡܠܠ ܗܐ ܝܗܘܕܐ ܡܫܠܡܢܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܬܪܥܣܪܬܐ ܐܬܐ ܘܟܢܫܐ ܥܡܗ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܥܡ ܣܦܣܪܐ ܘܚܘܛܪܐ ܡܢ ܠܘܬ ܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܩܫܝܫܐ ܕܥܡܐ

While he was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and elders of the people.

Now he who betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, “Whoever I kiss, he is the one. Seize him.”

ܘܡܚܕܐ ܩܪܒ ܠܘܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܫܠܡ ܪܒܝ ܘܢܫܩܗ

Immediately he came to Jesus, and said, “Hail, Rabbi!” and kissed him.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܥܠ ܗܝ ܕܐܬܝܬ ܚܒܪܝ ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܬܩܪܒܘ ܘܐܪܡܝܘ ܐܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܚܕܘܗܝ

Jesus said to him,
“Friend, why are you here?” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

ܘܗܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܥܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܘܫܛ ܐܝܕܗ ܘܫܡܛ ܣܦܣܪܐ ܘܡܚܝܗܝ ܠܥܒܕܗ ܕܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܫܩܠܗ ܐܕܢܗ

Behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck the servant of the high priest, and struck off his ear.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܗܦܟ ܣܦܣܪܐ ܠܕܘܟܬܗ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܢܣܒܘ ܣܝܦܐ ܒܣܝܦܐ ܢܡܘܬܘܢ

Then Jesus said to him,
“Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword will die by the sword.

ܐܘ ܣܒܪ ܐܢܬ ܕܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܒܥܐ ܡܢ ܐܒܝ ܘܢܩܝܡ ܠܝ ܗܫܐ ܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܬܪܬܥܣܪܐ ܠܓܝܘܢܝܢ ܕܡܠܐܟܐ

Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels?

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܢܬܡܠܘܢ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܘܠܐ ܕܢܗܘܐ

How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?”

ܒܗܝ ܫܥܬܐ ܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܟܢܫܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܥܠ ܓܝܣܐ ܢܦܩܬܘܢ ܒܣܦܣܪܐ ܘܒܚܘܛܪܐ ܕܬܐܚܕܘܢܢܝ ܟܠܝܘܡ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܒܗܝܟܠܐ ܝܬܒ ܗܘܝܬ ܘܡܠܦ ܘܠܐ ܐܚܕܬܘܢܢܝ

In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes,
“Have you come out as against a robber with swords and clubs to seize me? I sat daily in the temple teaching, and you didn’t arrest me.

ܗܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܗܘܬ ܕܢܬܡܠܘܢ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܗܝܕܝܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܫܒܩܘܗܝ ܘܥܪܩܘ
hd' dyn dhwth dnthmlwn kthb' dnby' hydyn thlmyd' klhwn shbqwhy werqw
But all this has happened, that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.”
Then all the disciples left him, and fled.

ܘܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܚܕܘܗܝ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܐܘܒܠܘܗܝ ܠܘܬ ܩܝܦܐ ܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܐܝܟܐ ܕܣܦܪܐ ܘܩܫܝܫܐ ܟܢܝܫܝܢ ܗܘܘ

Those who had taken Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together.

ܫܡܥܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܐܙܠ ܗܘܐ ܒܬܪܗ ܡܢ ܪܘܚܩܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܕܪܬܗ ܕܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܥܠ ܝܬܒ ܠܓܘ ܥܡ ܕܚܫܐ ܕܢܚܙܐ ܚܪܬܐ

But Peter followed him from a distance, to the court of the high priest, and entered in and sat with the officers, to see the end.

ܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܘܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܟܠܗ ܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܠ ܝܫܘܥ ܣܗܕܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܢܡܝܬܘܢܝܗܝ

Now the chief priests, the elders, and the whole council sought false testimony against Jesus, that they might put him to death;

ܘܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܘ ܘܐܬܘ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܣܗܕܐ ܕܫܘܩܪܐ ܐܚܪܝܬ ܕܝܢ ܩܪܒܘ ܬܪܝܢ

and they found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward,

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܕܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܫܪܐ ܗܝܟܠܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܬܠܬܐ ܝܘܡܝܢ ܐܒܢܝܘܗܝ

and said, “This man said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.’”

ܘܩܡ ܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܡܦܢܐ ܐܢܬ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܡܢܐ ܡܣܗܕܝܢ ܥܠܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ

The high priest stood up, and said to him, “Have you no answer? What is this that these testify against you?”

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܫܬܝܩ ܗܘܐ ܘܥܢܐ ܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܘܡܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܒܐܠܗܐ ܚܝܐ ܕܬܐܡܪ ܠܢ ܐܢ ܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

But Jesus held his peace. The high priest answered him, “I adjure you by the living God, that you tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢܬ ܐܡܪܬ ܐܡܪܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܢ ܗܫܐ ܬܚܙܘܢܝܗܝ ܠܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܕܝܬܒ ܡܢ ܝܡܝܢܐ ܕܚܝܠܐ ܘܐܬܐ ܥܠ ܥܢܢܝ ܫܡܝܐ
'mr lh yshwe 'nth 'mrth 'mrn' lkwn dyn dmn hsh' thkhzwnyhy lbrh d'nsh' dythb mn ymyn' dkhyl' w'th' el enny shmy'
Jesus said to him,
“You have said it. Nevertheless, I tell you, after this you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of the sky.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܪܒ ܟܗܢܐ ܨܪܝ ܡܐܢܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܐ ܓܕܦ ܡܢܐ ܡܟܝܠ ܡܬܒܥܝܢ ܠܢ ܣܗܕܐ ܗܐ ܗܫܐ ܫܡܥܬܘܢ ܓܘܕܦܗ

Then the high priest tore his clothing, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Behold, now you have heard his blasphemy.

ܡܢܐ ܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܢܘ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܚܝܒ ܗܘ ܡܘܬܐ

What do you think?”
They answered, “He is worthy of death!”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܪܩܘ ܒܐܦܘܗܝ ܘܡܩܦܚܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܚܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ

Then they spat in his face and beat him with their fists, and some slapped him,

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܬܢܒܐ ܠܢ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܡܢܘ ܗܘ ܕܡܚܟ

saying, “Prophesy to us, you Christ! Who hit you?”

ܟܐܦܐ ܕܝܢ ܝܬܒ ܗܘܐ ܠܒܪ ܒܕܪܬܐ ܘܩܪܒܬ ܠܘܬܗ ܐܡܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܘܐܡܪܐ ܠܗ ܐܦ ܐܢܬ ܥܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܗܘܝܬ ܢܨܪܝܐ

Now Peter was sitting outside in the court, and a maid came to him, saying, “You were also with Jesus, the Galilean!”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܟܦܪ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܡܢܐ ܐܡܪܐ ܐܢܬܝ

But he denied it before them all, saying, “I don’t know what you are talking about.”

ܘܟܕ ܢܦܩ ܠܣܦܐ ܚܙܬܗ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܘܐܡܪܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܬܡܢ ܗܘܐ ܐܦ ܗܢܐ ܥܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܢܨܪܝܐ

When he had gone out onto the porch, someone else saw him, and said to those who were there, “This man also was with Jesus of Nazareth.”

ܘܬܘܒ ܟܦܪ ܒܡܘܡܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܐ ܠܗ ܠܓܒܪܐ

Again he denied it with an oath, “I don’t know the man.”

ܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܩܠܝܠ ܕܝܢ ܩܪܒܘ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܩܝܡܝܢ ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܟܐܦܐ ܫܪܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܦ ܐܢܬ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܐܢܬ ܐܦ ܡܡܠܠܟ ܓܝܪ ܡܘܕܥ ܠܟ

After a little while those who stood by came and said to Peter, “Surely you are also one of them, for your speech makes you known.”

Then he began to curse and to swear, “I don’t know the man!”
Immediately the rooster crowed.

ܘܐܬܕܟܪ ܟܐܦܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܕܩܕܡ ܕܢܩܪܐ ܬܪܢܓܠܐ ܬܠܬ ܙܒܢܝܢ ܬܟܦܘܪ ܒܝ ܘܢܦܩ ܠܒܪ ܒܟܐ ܡܪܝܪܐܝܬ

Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said to him,
“Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” He went out and wept bitterly.
