ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܫܠܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܠܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܫܩܠ ܡܢ ܓܠܝܠܐ ܘܐܬܐ ܠܬܚܘܡܐ ܕܝܗܘܕ ܠܥܒܪܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ
dywrdnn lebr' dyhwd lthkhwm' w'th' glyl' mn shql hlyn ml' yshwe shlm dkd whw'
When Jesus had finished these words, he departed from Galilee, and came into the borders of Judea beyond the Jordan.

ܘܐܬܘ ܒܬܪܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܐܣܝ ܐܢܘܢ ܬܡܢ
thmn 'nwn w'sy sgy'' knsh' bthrh w'thw
Great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there.

ܘܩܪܒܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܘܡܢܣܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢ ܫܠܝܛ ܠܐܢܫ ܕܢܫܪܐ ܐܢܬܬܗ ܒܟܠ ܥܠܐ

Pharisees came to him, testing him, and saying, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܥܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܩܪܝܬܘܢ ܕܗܘ ܕܥܒܕ ܡܢ ܒܪܫܝܬ ܕܟܪܐ ܘܢܩܒܬܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn ebd wnqbth' dkr' brshyth mn debd dhw qrythwn l' lhwn w'mr en' dyn hw
He answered,
“Haven’t you read that he who made them from the beginning made them male and female,

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܢܫܒܘܩ ܓܒܪܐ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܠܐܡܗ ܘܢܩܦ ܠܐܢܬܬܗ ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܬܪܝܗܘܢ ܚܕ ܒܣܪ
bsr khd thryhwn wnhwwn l'nththh wnqp wl'mh l'bwhy gbr' nshbwq hn' mTl w'mr
and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and the two shall become one flesh?’

ܡܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܘ ܬܪܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܚܕ ܦܓܪ ܡܕܡ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܙܘܓ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܢܦܪܫ

So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܠܡܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܘܫܐ ܦܩܕ ܕܢܬܠ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܫܘܒܩܢܐ ܘܢܫܪܝܗ
wnshryh dshwbqn' kthb' dnthl pqd mwsh' hkyl lmn' lh 'mryn
They asked him, “Why then did Moses command us to give her a bill of divorce, and divorce her?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܘܫܐ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܩܫܝܘܬ ܠܒܟܘܢ ܐܦܣ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܬܫܪܘܢ ܢܫܝܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܒܪܫܝܬ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܗܟܢܐ
hkn' hw' l' dyn brshyth mn nshykwn dthshrwn lkwn 'ps lbkwn qshywth lwqbl mwsh' lhwn 'mr
He said to them,
“Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it has not been so.

ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܢ ܕܫܒܩ ܐܢܬܬܗ ܕܠܐ ܓܘܪܐ ܘܢܣܒ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܓܐܪ ܘܡܢ ܕܢܣܒ ܫܒܝܩܬܐ ܓܐܪ

I tell you that whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries her when she is divorced commits adultery.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܐܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܥܕܠܝܐ ܒܝܢܝ ܓܒܪܐ ܠܐܢܬܬܐ ܠܐ ܦܩܚ ܠܡܣܒ ܐܢܬܬܐ
'nthth' lmsb pqkh l' l'nthth' gbr' byny edly' 'yth hkn' 'n thlmydwhy lh 'mryn
His disciples said to him, “If this is the case of the man with his wife, it is not expedient to marry.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܟܠܢܫ ܣܦܩ ܠܗ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܐܠܐ ܡܢ ܕܝܗܝܒ ܠܗ
lh dyhyb mn 'l' hd' lmlth' lh spq klnsh l' lhwn 'mr dyn hw
But he said to them,
“Not all men can receive this saying, but those to whom it is given.

ܐܝܬ ܓܝܪ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܕܡܢ ܟܪܣܐ ܕܐܡܗܘܢ ܐܬܝܠܕܘ ܗܟܢܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܕܡܢ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܗܘܘ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܕܗܢܘܢ ܥܒܕܘ ܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܡܢ ܕܡܫܟܚ ܕܢܣܦܩ ܢܣܦܩ

For there are eunuchs who were born that way from their mother’s womb, and there are eunuchs who were made eunuchs by men; and there are eunuchs who made themselves eunuchs for the Kingdom of Heaven’s sake. He who is able to receive it, let him receive it.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܩܪܒܘ ܠܗ ܛܠܝܐ ܕܢܣܝܡ ܐܝܕܗ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܢܨܠܐ ܘܟܐܘ ܒܗܘܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ

Then little children were brought to him, that he should lay his hands on them and pray; and the disciples rebuked them.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܒܘܩܘ ܛܠܝܐ ܐܬܝܢ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܠܐ ܬܟܠܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ

But Jesus said,
“Allow the little children, and don’t forbid them to come to me; for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to ones like these.”

ܘܣܡ ܐܝܕܗ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܙܠ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ

He laid his hands on them, and departed from there.

ܘܐܬܐ ܚܕ ܩܪܒ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܛܒܐ ܡܢܐ ܕܛܒ ܐܥܒܕ ܕܢܗܘܘܢ ܠܝ ܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ

Behold, one came to him and said, “Good teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܢܐ ܩܪܐ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ ܛܒܐ ܠܝܬ ܛܒܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܚܕ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܬ ܕܬܥܘܠ ܠܚܝܐ ܛܪ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ
pwqdn' Tr lkhy' dthewl 'nth tsb' dyn 'n 'lh' khd 'n 'l' Tb' lyth Tb' ly 'nth qr' mn' lh 'mr dyn hw
He said to him,
“Why do you call me good?
No one is good but one, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܕܠܐ ܬܩܛܘܠ ܘܠܐ ܬܓܘܪ ܘܠܐ ܬܓܢܘܒ ܘܠܐ ܬܣܗܕ ܣܗܕܘܬ ܫܘܩܪܐ

He said to him, “Which ones?”
Jesus said,
“‘You shall not murder.’ ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ ‘You shall not steal.’ ‘You shall not offer false testimony.’

ܘܝܩܪ ܠܐܒܘܟ ܘܠܐܡܟ ܘܬܚܒ ܠܩܪܝܒܟ ܐܝܟ ܢܦܫܟ

‘Honor your father and your mother.’
And, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܘ ܥܠܝܡܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܢܛܪܬ ܐܢܝܢ ܡܢ ܛܠܝܘܬܝ ܡܢܐ ܚܣܝܪ ܐܢܐ
'n' khsyr mn' Tlywthy mn 'nyn nTrth klhyn hlyn elym' hw lh 'mr
The young man said to him, “All these things I have observed from my youth. What do I still lack?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܢ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܬ ܓܡܝܪܐ ܠܡܗܘܐ ܙܠ ܙܒܢ ܩܢܝܢܟ ܘܗܒ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܬܗܘܐ ܠܟ ܣܝܡܬܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܘܬܐ ܒܬܪܝ

Jesus said to him,
“If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.”

ܫܡܥ ܕܝܢ ܗܘ ܥܠܝܡܐ ܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܟܕ ܟܪܝܐ ܠܗ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܓܝܪ ܩܢܝܢܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ
sgy'' qnyn' gyr lh hw' 'yth lh kry' kd w'zl hd' mlth' elym' hw dyn shme
But when the young man heard the saying, he went away sad, for he was one who had great possessions.

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܥܛܠܐ ܗܝ ܠܥܬܝܪܐ ܕܢܥܘܠ ܠܡܠܟܘܬ ܫܡܝܐ

Jesus said to his disciples,
“Most certainly I say to you, a rich man will enter into the Kingdom of Heaven with difficulty.

ܬܘܒ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܕܠܝܠ ܗܘ ܠܓܡܠܐ ܠܡܥܠ ܒܚܪܘܪܐ ܕܡܚܛܐ ܐܘ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܕܢܥܘܠ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܫܡܥܘ ܬܗܝܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܛܒ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܡܢܘ ܟܝ ܡܫܟܚ ܕܢܚܐ

When the disciples heard it, they were exceedingly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”

ܚܪ ܒܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܘܬ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܗܕܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܡܫܟܚܐ
mshkkh' klmdm dyn 'lh' lwth mshkkh' l' hd' bnynsh' lwth lhwn w'mr yshwe bhwn khr
Looking at them, Jesus said,
“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܥܢܐ ܟܐܦܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܐ ܐܢܚܢܢ ܫܒܩܢ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܘܐܬܝܢ ܒܬܪܟ ܡܢܐ ܟܝ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܢ

Then Peter answered, “Behold, we have left everything, and followed you. What then will we have?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܬܝܬܘܢ ܒܬܪܝ ܒܥܠܡܐ ܚܕܬܐ ܡܐ ܕܝܬܒ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܥܠ ܬܪܢܘܣ ܕܫܘܒܚܗ ܬܬܒܘܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܬܪܥܣܪ ܟܘܪܣܘܢ ܘܬܕܘܢܘܢ ܬܪܥܣܪ ܫܒܛܐ ܕܐܝܣܪܐܝܠ

Jesus said to them,
“Most certainly I tell you that you who have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on the throne of his glory, you also will sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

ܘܟܠܢܫ ܕܫܒܩ ܒܬܐ ܐܘ ܐܚܐ ܐܘ ܐܚܘܬܐ ܐܘ ܐܒܐ ܐܘ ܐܡܐ ܐܘ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܘ ܒܢܝܐ ܐܘ ܩܘܪܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܫܡܝ ܚܕ ܒܡܐܐ ܢܩܒܠ ܘܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ ܢܐܪܬ

Everyone who has left houses, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, will receive one hundred times, and will inherit eternal life.
