ܗܝܕܝܢ ܩܪܒܘ ܠܘܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܘܣܦܪܐ ܕܡܢ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ
w'mryn 'wrshlm dmn wspr' prysh' yshwe lwth qrbw hydyn
Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem, saying,

ܠܡܢܐ ܬܠܡܝܕܝܟ ܥܒܪܝܢ ܥܠ ܡܫܠܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܝܓܝܢ ܐܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܡܐ ܕܐܟܠܝܢ ܠܚܡܐ
lkhm' d'klyn m' 'ydyhwn mshygyn wl' dqshysh' mshlmnwth' el ebryn thlmydyk lmn'
“Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they don’t wash their hands when they eat bread.”

ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܡܢܐ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܒܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܫܠܡܢܘܬܟܘܢ
mshlmnwthkwn mTl d'lh' pwqdn' el 'nthwn ebryn 'nthwn 'p lmn' lhwn w'mr yshwe en'
He answered them, “Why do you also disobey the commandment of God because of your tradition?

ܐܠܗܐ ܓܝܪ ܐܡܪ ܝܩܪ ܠܐܒܘܟ ܘܠܐܡܟ ܘܡܢ ܕܡܨܚܐ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܠܐܡܗ ܡܡܬ ܢܡܘܬ
nmwth mmth wl'mh l'bwhy dmtskh' wmn wl'mk l'bwk yqr 'mr gyr 'lh'
For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘He who speaks evil of father or mother, let him be put to death.’

ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܟܠ ܡܢ ܕܢܐܡܪ ܠܐܒܐ ܐܘ ܠܐܡܐ ܩܘܪܒܢܝ ܡܕܡ ܕܬܬܗܢܐ ܡܢܝ ܘܠܐ ܢܝܩܪ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܐܘ ܠܐܡܗ
l'mh 'w l'bwhy nyqr wl' mny dththhn' mdm qwrbny l'm' 'w l'b' dn'mr mn kl 'nthwn 'mryn dyn 'nthwn
But you say, ‘Whoever may tell his father or his mother, “Whatever help you might otherwise have gotten from me is a gift devoted to God,”

ܘܒܛܠܬܘܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܫܠܡܢܘܬܐ ܕܝܠܟܘܢ
dylkwn mshlmnwth' mTl d'lh' mlth' wbTlthwn
he shall not honor his father or mother.’ You have made the commandment of God void because of your tradition.

ܢܣܒܝ ܒܐܦܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܐܬܢܒܝ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܐܫܥܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ
w'mr 'shey' elykwn 'thnby shpyr b'p' nsby
You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, saying,

ܥܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܒܣܦܘܬܗ ܗܘ ܡܝܩܪ ܠܝ ܠܒܗܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܣܓܝ ܪܚܝܩ ܡܢܝ
mny rkhyq sgy dyn lbhwn ly myqr hw bspwthh hn' em'
‘These people draw near to me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

ܘܣܪܝܩܐܝܬ ܕܚܠܝܢ ܠܝ ܟܕ ܡܠܦܝܢ ܝܘܠܦܢܐ ܕܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܕܒܢܝܢܫܐ
dbnynsh' dpwqdn' ywlpn' mlpyn kd ly dkhlyn wsryq'yth
And in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrine rules made by men.’”

ܘܩܪܐ ܠܟܢܫܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܡܥܘ ܘܐܣܬܟܠܘ
w'sthklw shmew lhwn w'mr lknsh' wqr'
He summoned the multitude, and said to them, “Hear, and understand.

ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܐܠ ܠܦܘܡܐ ܡܣܝܒ ܠܒܪܢܫܐ ܐܠܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܐ ܗܘ ܗܘ ܡܣܝܒ ܠܒܪܢܫܐ
lbrnsh' msyb hw hw pwm' mn dnpq mdm 'l' lbrnsh' msyb lpwm' de'l mdm hw' l'
That which enters into the mouth doesn’t defile the man; but that which proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܩܪܒܘ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܬ ܕܦܪܝܫܐ ܕܫܡܥܘ ܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܐܬܟܫܠܘ
'thkshlw hd' mlth' dshmew dprysh' 'nth yde lh w'mryn thlmydwhy qrbw hydyn
Then the disciples came, and said to him, “Do you know that the Pharisees were offended, when they heard this saying?”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܥܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܠ ܢܨܒܬܐ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܨܒܗ ܐܒܝ ܕܒܫܡܝܐ ܬܬܥܩܪ
ththeqr dbshmy' 'by ntsbh dl' 'yd' ntsbth' kl lhwn w'mr en' dyn hw
But he answered, “Every plant which my heavenly Father didn’t plant will be uprooted.

ܫܒܘܩܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܣܡܝܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܢܓܘܕܐ ܕܣܡܝܐ ܣܡܝܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܣܡܝܐ ܐܢ ܢܕܒܪ ܬܪܝܗܘܢ ܒܓܘܡܨܐ ܢܦܠܝܢ
nplyn bgwmts' thryhwn ndbr 'n lsmy' dyn smy' dsmy' ngwd' 'nwn smy' lhwn shbwqw
Leave them alone. They are blind guides of the blind. If the blind guide the blind, both will fall into a pit.”

ܘܥܢܐ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝ ܦܫܩ ܠܢ ܡܬܠܐ ܗܢܐ

Peter answered him, “Explain the parable to us.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܗܫܐ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܡܣܬܟܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ
'nthwn msthklyn l' 'nthwn 'p lhsh' edm' lhwn 'mr dyn hw
So Jesus said, “Do you also still not understand?

ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܡܕܡ ܕܥܐܠ ܠܦܘܡܐ ܠܟܪܣܐ ܗܘ ܐܙܠ ܘܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܒܬܕܟܝܬܐ ܡܫܬܕܐ ܠܒܪ
lbr mshthd' bthdkyth' thmn wmn 'zl hw lkrs' lpwm' de'l dmdm 'nthwn ydeyn l'
Don’t you understand that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the belly, and then out of the body?

ܡܕܡ ܕܝܢ ܕܡܢ ܦܘܡܐ ܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܠܒܐ ܢܦܩ ܘܗܘܝܘ ܡܣܝܒ ܠܗ ܠܒܪܢܫܐ
lbrnsh' lh msyb whwyw npq lb' mn npq pwm' dmn dyn mdm
But the things which proceed out of the mouth come out of the heart, and they defile the man.

ܡܢ ܠܒܐ ܗܘ ܓܝܪ ܢܦܩܢ ܡܚܫܒܬܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܓܘܪܐ ܩܛܠܐ ܙܢܝܘܬܐ ܓܢܒܘܬܐ ܣܗܕܘܬ ܫܘܩܪܐ ܓܘܕܦܐ
gwdp' shwqr' shdwth gnbwth' znywth' qTl' gwr' byshth' mkhshbth' npqn gyr hw lb' mn
For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, sexual sins, thefts, false testimony, and blasphemies.

ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܝܢ ܕܡܣܝܒܢ ܠܒܪܢܫܐ ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܢܠܥܣ ܟܕ ܠܐ ܡܫܓܢ ܐܝܕܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܡܣܬܝܒ
msthyb l' 'ydwhy mshgn l' kd nles dyn 'nsh 'n lbrnsh' dmsybn 'nyn hlyn
These are the things which defile the man; but to eat with unwashed hands doesn’t defile the man.”

ܘܢܦܩ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܬܐ ܠܬܚܘܡܐ ܕܨܘܪ ܘܕܨܝܕܢ
wdtsydn dtswr lthkhwm' w'th' yshwe thmn mn wnpq
Jesus went out from there, and withdrew into the region of Tyre and Sidon.

ܘܗܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܟܢܥܢܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܬܚܘܡܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܦܩܬ ܟܕ ܩܥܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܐ ܐܬܪܚܡ ܥܠܝ ܡܪܝ ܒܪܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܒܪܬܝ ܒܝܫܐܝܬ ܡܬܕܒܪܐ ܡܢ ܫܐܕܐ
sh'd' mn mthdbr' bysh'yth brthy ddwyd brh mry ely 'thrkhm w'mr' qey' kd npqth hnwn thkhwm' mn knenyth' 'nthth' wh'
Behold, a Canaanite woman came out from those borders, and cried, saying, “Have mercy on me, Lord, you son of David! My daughter is severely possessed by a demon!”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܦܢܝܗ ܦܬܓܡܐ ܘܩܪܒܘ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܒܥܘ ܡܢܗ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܫܪܝܗ ܕܩܥܝܐ ܒܬܪܢ
bthrn dqey' shryh w'mryn mnh bew thlmydwhy wqrbw pthgm' pnyh l' dyn hw
But he answered her not a word. His disciples came and begged him, saying, “Send her away; for she cries after us.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܥܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܐܫܬܕܪܬ ܐܠܐ ܠܘܬ ܥܪܒܐ ܕܛܥܘ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ
'ysryl byth mn dTew erb' lwth 'l' 'shthdrth l' lhwn w'mr en' dyn hw
But he answered, “I wasn’t sent to anyone but the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

ܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܬ ܣܓܕܬ ܠܗ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܡܪܝ ܥܕܪܝܢܝ
edryny mry w'mrth lh sgdth 'thth dyn hy
But she came and worshiped him, saying, “Lord, help me.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܠܡܣܒ ܠܚܡܐ ܕܒܢܝܐ ܘܠܡܪܡܝܘ ܠܟܠܒܐ
lklb' wlmrmyw dbny' lkhm' lmsb shpyr l' lh 'mr
But he answered, “It is not appropriate to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs.”

ܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܬ ܐܝܢ ܡܪܝ ܐܦ ܟܠܒܐ ܐܟܠܝܢ ܡܢ ܦܪܬܘܬܐ ܕܢܦܠܝܢ ܡܢ ܦܬܘܪܐ ܕܡܪܝܗܘܢ ܘܚܐܝܢ
wkh'yn dmryhwn pthwr' mn dnplyn prthwth' mn 'klyn klb' 'p mry 'yn 'mrth dyn hy
But she said, “Yes, Lord, but even the dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܘ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܪܒܐ ܗܝ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟܝ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܟܝ ܐܝܟ ܕܨܒܝܐ ܐܢܬܝ ܘܐܬܐܣܝܬ ܒܪܬܗ ܡܢ ܗܝ ܫܥܬܐ
sheth' hy mn brthh w'th'syth 'nthy dtsby' 'yk lky nhw' hymnwthky hy rb' 'nthth' 'w yshwe lh 'mr hydyn
Then Jesus answered her, “Woman, great is your faith! Be it done to you even as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that hour.

ܘܫܢܝ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܬܐ ܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܝܡܐ ܕܓܠܝܠܐ ܘܣܠܩ ܠܛܘܪܐ ܘܝܬܒ ܬܡܢ
thmn wythb lTwr' wslq dglyl' ym' gnb el w'th' yshwe thmn mn wshny
Jesus departed from there, and came near to the sea of Galilee; and he went up into the mountain, and sat there.

ܘܩܪܒܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܘ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܚܓܝܪܐ ܘܣܡܝܐ ܘܚܪܫܐ ܘܦܫܝܓܐ ܘܐܚܪܢܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܐܪܡܝܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܘܬ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܣܝ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn w'sy dyshwe rglwhy lwth 'nwn w'rmyw sgy'' w'khrn' wpshyg' wkhrsh' wsmy' khgyr' emhwn hww d'yth sgy'' knsh' lwthh wqrbw
Great multitudes came to him, having with them the lame, blind, mute, maimed, and many others, and they put them down at his feet. He healed them,

ܐܝܟ ܕܢܬܕܡܪܘܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܚܙܝܢ ܚܪܫܐ ܕܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܘܦܫܝܓܐ ܕܡܬܚܠܡܝܢ ܘܚܓܝܪܐ ܕܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܘܣܡܝܐ ܕܚܙܝܢ ܘܫܒܚܘ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܕܝܣܪܝܠ
dysryl l'lh' wshbkhw dkhzyn wsmy' dmhlkyn wkhgyr' dmthkhlmyn wpshyg' dmmllyn khrsh' dkhzyn hnwn knsh' dnthdmrwn 'yk
so that the multitude wondered when they saw the mute speaking, the injured healed, the lame walking, and the blind seeing—and they glorified the God of Israel.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܩܪܐ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܬܪܚܡ ܐܢܐ ܥܠ ܟܢܫܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܗܐ ܬܠܬܐ ܝܘܡܝܢ ܩܘܝܘ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܠܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܐ ܕܢܐܟܠܘܢ ܘܕܐܫܪܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܟܕ ܨܝܡܝܢ ܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܐ ܕܠܡܐ ܢܥܘܦܘܢ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ

Jesus summoned his disciples and said, “I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days and have nothing to eat. I don’t want to send them away fasting, or they might faint on the way.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܠܢ ܒܚܘܪܒܐ ܠܚܡܐ ܕܢܣܒܥ ܟܢܫܐ ܗܢܐ ܟܠܗ
klh hn' knsh' dnsbe lkhm' bkhwrb' ln 'ymk' thlmydwhy lh 'mryn
The disciples said to him, “Where should we get so many loaves in a deserted place as to satisfy so great a multitude?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܟܡܐ ܠܚܡܝܢ ܐܝܬ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܫܒܥܐ ܘܩܠܝܠ ܢܘܢܐ ܕܩܕܩܐ
dqdq' nwn' wqlyl shbe' lh 'mryn lkwn 'yth lkhmyn km' yshwe lhwn 'mr
Jesus said to them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven, and a few small fish.”

ܘܦܩܕ ܠܟܢܫܐ ܕܢܣܬܡܟܘܢ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ

He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground;

ܘܫܩܠ ܠܗܠܝܢ ܫܒܥܐ ܠܚܡܝܢ ܘܠܢܘܢܐ ܘܫܒܚ ܘܩܨܐ ܘܝܗܒ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܝܗܒܘ ܠܟܢܫܐ
lknsh' yhbw wthlmyd' lthlmydwhy wyhb wqts' wshbkh wlnwn' lkhmyn shbe' lhlyn wshql
and he took the seven loaves and the fish. He gave thanks and broke them, and gave to the disciples, and the disciples to the multitudes.

ܘܐܟܠܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܘܣܒܥܘ ܘܫܩܠܘ ܬܘܬܪܐ ܕܩܨܝܐ ܡܠܐ ܫܒܥܐ ܐܣܦܪܝܕܝܢ
'sprydyn shbe' ml' dqtsy' thwthr' wshqlw wsbew klhwn w'klw
They all ate, and were filled. They took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces that were left over.

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܟܠܘ ܗܘܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܪܒܥܐ ܐܠܦܝܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܣܛܪ ܡܢ ܢܫܐ ܘܛܠܝܐ
wTly' nsh' mn sTr gbr' 'lpyn 'rbe' hww hwyn d'klw dyn hnwn
Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

ܘܟܕ ܫܪܐ ܠܟܢܫܐ ܣܠܩ ܠܐܠܦܐ ܘܐܬܐ ܠܬܚܘܡܐ ܕܡܓܕܘ

Then he sent away the multitudes, got into the boat, and came into the borders of Magdala.
