ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܫܠܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܡܦܩܕܘ ܠܬܪܥܣܪ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܫܢܝ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܠܡܠܦܘ ܘܠܡܟܪܙܘ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܗܘܢ

When Jesus had finished directing his twelve disciples, he departed from there to teach and preach in their cities.

ܝܘܚܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܫܡܥ ܒܝܬ ܐܣܝܪܐ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܫܕܪ ܒܝܕ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ

Now when John heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢܬ ܗܘ ܗܘ ܕܐܬܐ ܐܘ ܠܐܚܪܝܢ ܗܘ ܡܣܟܝܢ ܐܢܚܢܢ

and said to him, “Are you he who comes, or should we look for another?”

ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܙܠܘ ܐܫܬܥܘ ܠܝܘܚܢܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܡܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܘܚܙܝܢ

Jesus answered them,
“Go and tell John the things which you hear and see:

ܣܡܝܐ ܚܙܝܢ ܘܚܓܝܪܐ ܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܘܓܪܒܐ ܡܬܕܟܝܢ ܘܚܪܫܐ ܫܡܥܝܢ ܘܡܝܬܐ ܩܝܡܝܢ ܘܡܣܟܢܐ ܡܣܬܒܪܝܢ
smy' khzyn wkhgyr' mhlkyn wgrb' mthdkyn wkhrsh' shmeyn wmyth' qymyn wmskn' msthbryn
the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear,
the dead are raised up, and the poor have good news preached to them.

ܘܛܘܒܘܗܝ ܠܐܝܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܟܫܠ ܒܝ

Blessed is he who finds no occasion for stumbling in me.”

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܐܙܠܘ ܫܪܝ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܠܟܢܫܐ ܥܠ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܡܢܐ ܢܦܩܬܘܢ ܠܚܘܪܒܐ ܠܡܚܙܐ ܩܢܝܐ ܕܡܢ ܪܘܚܐ ܡܬܬܙܝܥ

As these went their way, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John,
“What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind?

ܘܐܠܐ ܡܢܐ ܢܦܩܬܘܢ ܠܡܚܙܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܢܚܬܐ ܪܟܝܟܐ ܠܒܝܫ ܗܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܪܟܝܟܐ ܠܒܝܫܝܢ ܒܝܬ ܡܠܟܐ ܐܢܘܢ

But what did you go out to see? A man in soft clothing? Behold, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

ܘܐܠܐ ܡܢܐ ܢܦܩܬܘܢ ܠܡܚܙܐ ܢܒܝܐ ܐܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܢܒܝܐ
w'l' mn' npqthwn lmkhz' nby' 'yn 'mr 'n' lkwn wythyr mn nby'
But why did you go out? To see a prophet? Yes, I tell you, and much more than a prophet.

ܗܢܘ ܓܝܪ ܕܥܠܘܗܝ ܟܬܝܒ ܕܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܫܕܪ ܐܢܐ ܡܠܐܟܝ ܩܕܡ ܦܪܨܘܦܟ ܕܢܬܩܢ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܩܕܡܝܟ

For this is he, of whom it is written, ‘Behold, I send my messenger before your face, who will prepare your way before you.’

ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܩܡ ܒܝܠܝܕܝ ܢܫܐ ܕܪܒ ܡܢ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܡܥܡܕܢܐ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܡܠܟܘܬ ܫܡܝܐ ܪܒ ܗܘ ܡܢܗ
'myn 'mrn' lkwn dl' qm bylydy nsh' drb mn ywkhnn memdn' zewr' dyn bmlkwth shmy' rb hw mnh
Most certainly I tell you, among those who are born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptizer; yet he who is least in the Kingdom of Heaven is greater than he.

ܡܢ ܝܘܡܝ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܥܡܕܢܐ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܗܫܐ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܒܩܛܝܪܐ ܡܬܕܒܪܐ ܘܩܛܝܪܢܐ ܡܚܛܦܝܢ ܠܗ
mn ywmy ywkhnn dyn memdn' wedm' lhsh' mlkwth' dshmy' bqTyr' mthdbr' wqTyrn' mkhTpyn lh
From the days of John the Baptizer until now, the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.

ܟܠܗܘܢ ܓܝܪ ܢܒܝܐ ܘܐܘܪܝܬܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܚܢܢ ܐܬܢܒܝܘ

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.

ܘܐܢ ܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܩܒܠܘ ܕܗܘܝܘ ܐܠܝܐ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܠܡܐܬܐ

If you are willing to receive it, this is Elijah, who is to come.

ܡܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܕܢܐ ܕܢܫܡܥ ܢܫܡܥ

He who has ears to hear, let him hear.

ܠܡܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܕܡܝܗ ܠܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܕܡܝܐ ܠܛܠܝܐ ܕܝܬܒܝܢ ܒܫܘܩܐ ܘܩܥܝܢ ܠܚܒܪܝܗܘܢ

“But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces, who call to their companions

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܙܡܪܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܪܩܕܬܘܢ ܘܐܠܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܐܪܩܕܬܘܢ

and say, ‘We played the flute for you, and you didn’t dance. We mourned for you, and you didn’t lament.’

ܐܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܕܠܐ ܐܟܠ ܘܠܐ ܫܬܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܕܝܘܐ ܐܝܬ ܒܗ

For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’

ܐܬܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܐܟܠ ܘܫܬܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܐ ܓܒܪܐ ܐܟܘܠܐ ܘܫܬܐ ܚܡܪܐ ܘܪܚܡܐ ܕܡܟܣܐ ܘܕܚܛܝܐ ܘܐܙܕܕܩܬ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܡܢ ܥܒܕܝܗ
'th' brh d'nsh' 'kl wshth' w'mryn h' gbr' 'kwl' wshth' khmr' wrkhm' dmks' wdkhTy' w'zddqth khkmth' mn ebdyh
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Behold, a gluttonous man and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܫܪܝ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܡܚܣܕܘ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܗܘܘ ܒܗܝܢ ܚܝܠܘܗܝ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܒܘ

Then he began to denounce the cities in which most of his mighty works had been done, because they didn’t repent.

ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܘܝ ܠܟܝ ܟܘܪܙܝܢ ܘܝ ܠܟܝ ܒܝܬ-ܨܝܕܐ ܕܐܠܘ ܒܨܘܪ ܘܒܨܝܕܢ ܗܘܘ ܚܝܠܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܗܘܘ ܒܟܝܢ ܟܒܪ ܕܝܢ ܒܣܩܐ ܘܒܩܛܡܐ ܬܒܘ
w'mr hw' wy lky kwrzyn wy lky byth-tsyd' d'lw btswr wbtsydn hww khyl' 'ylyn dhww bkyn kbr dyn bsq' wbqTm' thbw
“Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon which were done in you, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

ܒܪܡ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܝܢ ܕܠܨܘܪ ܘܠܨܝܕܢ ܢܗܘܐ ܢܝܚ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܕܝܢܐ ܐܘ ܠܟܝܢ
brm 'mr 'n' lkyn dltswr wltsydn nhw' nykh bywm' ddyn' 'w lkyn
But I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon on the day of judgment than for you.

ܘܐܢܬܝ ܟܦܪܢܚܘܡ ܗܝ ܕܥܕܡܐ ܠܫܡܝܐ ܐܬܬܪܝܡܬܝ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܫܝܘܠ ܬܬܚܬܝܢ ܕܐܠܘ ܒܣܕܘܡ ܗܘܘ ܚܝܠܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܗܘܘ ܒܟܝ ܩܝܡܐ ܗܘܬ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܝܘܡܢܐ
w'nthy kprnkhwm hy dedm' lshmy' 'ththrymthy edm' lshywl ththkhthyn d'lw bsdwm hww khyl' 'ylyn dhww bky qym' hwth edm' lywmn'
You, Capernaum, who are exalted to heaven, you will go down to Hades.
For if the mighty works had been done in Sodom which were done in you, it would have remained until today.

ܒܪܡ ܐܡܪܢܐ ܠܟܝ ܕܠܐܪܥܐ ܕܣܕܘܡ ܢܗܘܐ ܢܝܚ ܒܝܘܡܐ ܕܕܝܢܐ ܐܘ ܠܟܝ

But I tell you that it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom, on the day of judgment, than for you.”

ܒܗܘ ܙܒܢܐ ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܘܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܐܒܝ ܡܪܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܘܕܐܪܥܐ ܕܟܣܝܬ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܢ ܚܟܝܡܐ ܘܣܟܘܠܬܢܐ ܘܓܠܝܬ ܐܢܝܢ ܠܝܠܘܕܐ
bhw zbn' en' yshwe w'mr mwd' 'n' lk 'by mr' dshmy' wd're' dksyth hlyn mn khkym' wskwlthn' wglyth 'nyn lylwd'
At that time, Jesus answered,
“I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants.

ܐܝܢ ܐܒܝ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܐ ܨܒܝܢܐ ܩܕܡܝܟ

Yes, Father, for so it was well-pleasing in your sight.

ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܐܫܬܠܡ ܠܝ ܡܢ ܐܒܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܝܕܥ ܠܒܪܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܐܒܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܠܐܒܐ ܐܢܫ ܝܕܥ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܒܪܐ ܘܠܡܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܒܪܐ ܕܢܓܠܐ

All things have been delivered to me by my Father. No one knows the Son, except the Father; neither does anyone know the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son desires to reveal him.

ܬܘ ܠܘܬܝ ܟܠܟܘܢ ܠܐܝܐ ܘܫܩܝܠܝ ܡܘܒܠܐ ܘܐܢܐ ܐܢܝܚܟܘܢ

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

ܫܩܘܠܘ ܢܝܪܝ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܘܝܠܦܘ ܡܢܝ ܕܢܝܚ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܟܝܟ ܐܢܐ ܒܠܒܝ ܘܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܢܝܚܐ ܠܢܦܫܬܟܘܢ

Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls.

ܢܝܪܝ ܓܝܪ ܒܣܝܡ ܗܘ ܘܡܘܒܠܝ ܩܠܝܠܐ ܗܝ

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
