ܬܘܒ ܕܝܢ ܫܪܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܠܦ ܥܠ ܝܕ ܝܡܐ ܘܐܬܟܢܫܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܢܣܩ ܢܬܒ ܠܗ ܒܣܦܝܢܬܐ ܒܝܡܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܩܐܡ ܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܥܠ ܝܕ ܝܡܐ
thwb dyn shry hw' mlp el yd ym' w'thknshw lwthh knsh' sgy'' 'yk dnsq nthb lh bspynth' bym' wklh knsh' q'm hw' el 're' el yd ym'
Again he began to teach by the seaside. A great multitude was gathered to him, so that he entered into a boat in the sea, and sat down. All the multitude were on the land by the sea.

ܘܡܠܦ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܡܬܠܐ ܣܓܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܘܠܦܢܗ
wmlp hw' lhwn bmthl' sgy w'mr hw' bywlpnh
He taught them many things in parables, and told them in his teaching,

ܫܡܥܘ ܗܐ ܢܦܩ ܙܪܘܥܐ ܠܡܙܪܥ
shmew h' npq zrwe' lmzre
“Listen! Behold, the farmer went out to sow,

ܘܟܕ ܙܪܥ ܐܝܬ ܕܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܝܕ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܐܬܬ ܦܪܚܬܐ ܘܐܟܠܬܗ
wkd zre 'yth dnpl el yd 'wrkh' w'thth prkhth' w'klthh
and as he sowed, some seed fell by the road, and the birds
came and devoured it.

ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܫܘܥܐ ܐܝܟܐ ܕܠܝܬ ܐܪܥܐ ܣܓܝ ܘܒܪ ܫܥܬܗ ܒܠܨ ܡܛܠ ܕܠܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܥܘܡܩܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ
'khrn' dyn npl el shwe' 'yk' dlyth 're' sgy wbr shethh blts mTl dlyth hw' ewmq' d're'
Others fell on the rocky ground, where it had little soil, and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of soil.

ܟܕ ܕܢܚ ܕܝܢ ܫܡܫܐ ܚܡܐ ܘܡܛܠ ܕܠܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܥܩܪܐ ܝܒܫ
kd dnkh dyn shmsh' khm' wmTl dlyth hw' lh eqr' ybsh
When the sun had risen, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away.

ܘܐܚܪܢܐ ܢܦܠ ܒܝܬ ܟܘܒܐ ܘܣܠܩܘ ܟܘܒܐ ܘܚܢܩܘܗܝ ܘܦܐܪܐ ܠܐ ܝܗܒ
w'khrn' npl byth kwb' wslqw kwb' wkhnqwhy wp'r' l' yhb
Others fell among the thorns, and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.

ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܣܠܩ ܘܪܒܐ ܘܝܗܒ ܦܐܪܐ ܐܝܬ ܕܬܠܬܝܢ ܘܐܝܬ ܕܫܬܝܢ ܘܐܝܬ ܕܡܐܐ
'khrn' dyn npl el 're' Tbth' wslq wrb' wyhb p'r' 'yth dthlthyn w'yth dshthyn w'yth dm''
Others fell into the good ground, and yielded fruit, growing up and increasing. Some produced thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times as much.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܕܢܐ ܕܢܫܡܥ ܢܫܡܥ
w'mr hw' mn d'yth lh 'dn' dnshme nshme
He said,
“Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”

ܟܕ ܗܘܘ ܕܝܢ ܒܠܚܘܕܝܗܘܢ ܫܐܠܘܗܝ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܥܡܗ ܥܡ ܬܪܥܣܪܬܗ ܡܬܠܐ ܗܘ
kd hww dyn blkhwdyhwn sh'lwhy hnwn demh em thresrthh mthl' hw
When he was alone, those who were around him with the twelve asked him about the parables.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܟܘܢ ܝܗܝܒ ܠܡܕܥ ܐܪܙܐ ܕܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܒܪܝܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܒܡܬܠܐ ܗܘܐ
w'mr lhwn yshwe lkwn yhyb lmde 'rz' dmlkwthh d'lh' lbry' dyn kl mdm bmthl' hw'
He said to them,
“To you is given the mystery of God’s Kingdom, but to those who are outside, all things are done in parables,

ܕܟܕ ܚܙܝܢ ܢܚܙܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܚܙܘܢ ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥܝܢ ܢܫܡܥܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܢܣܬܟܠܘܢ ܕܠܡܐ ܢܬܦܢܘܢ ܘܢܫܬܒܩܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܚܛܗܝܗܘܢ
dkd khzyn nkhzwn wl' nkhzwn wkd shmeyn nshmewn wl' nsthklwn dlm' nthpnwn wnshthbqwn lhwn khThyhwn
that ‘seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest perhaps they should turn again, and their sins should be forgiven them.’”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗ ܠܡܬܠܐ ܗܢܐ ܘܐܝܟܢܐ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܡܬܠܐ ܬܕܥܘܢ
w'mr lhwn l' ydeyn 'nthwn lh lmthl' hn' w'ykn' klhwn mthl' thdewn
He said to them,
“Don’t you understand this parable? How will you understand all of the parables?

ܗܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܥܠ ܝܕ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܡܙܕܪܥܐ ܒܗܘܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܡܐ ܕܫܡܥܘ ܡܚܕܐ ܐܬܐ ܣܛܢܐ ܘܫܩܠ ܠܗ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܕܙܪܝܥܐ ܒܠܒܗܘܢ
hlyn dyn del yd 'wrkh' hlyn 'nwn dmzdre' bhwn mlth' wm' dshmew mkhd' 'th' sTn' wshql lh lmlth' dzrye' blbhwn
The ones by the road are the ones where the word is sown; and when they have heard, immediately Satan comes, and takes away the word which has been sown in them.

ܘܗܢܘܢ ܕܥܠ ܫܘܥܐ ܐܙܕܪܥܘ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܡܐ ܕܫܡܥܘ ܡܠܬܐ ܡܚܕܐ ܒܚܕܘܬܐ ܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܠܗ
whnwn del shwe' 'zdrew hlyn 'nwn dm' dshmew mlth' mkhd' bkhdwth' mqblyn lh
These in the same way are those who are sown on the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with joy.

ܘܠܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܩܪܐ ܒܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܕܙܒܢܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܡܐ ܕܗܘܐ ܐܘܠܨܢܐ ܐܘ ܪܕܘܦܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܠܬܐ ܥܓܠ ܡܬܟܫܠܝܢ
wlyth lhwn eqr' bnpshhwn 'l' dzbn' 'nwn wm' dhw' 'wltsn' 'w rdwpy' mTl mlth' egl mthkshlyn
They have no root in themselves, but are short-lived. When oppression or persecution arises because of the word, immediately they stumble.

ܘܗܢܘܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܟܘܒܐ ܡܙܕܪܥܝܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܫܡܥܘ ܡܠܬܐ
whnwn dbyth kwb' mzdreyn hlyn 'nwn hnwn dshmew mlth'
Others are those who are sown among the thorns. These are those who have heard the word,

ܘܪܢܝܐ ܕܥܠܡܐ ܗܢܐ ܘܛܘܥܝܝ ܕܥܘܬܪܐ ܘܫܪܟܐ ܕܪܓܝܓܬܐ ܐܚܪܢܝܬܐ ܥܐܠܢ ܚܢܩܢ ܠܗ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܘܕܠܐ ܦܐܪܐ ܗܘܝܐ
wrny' delm' hn' wTweyy dewthr' wshrk' drgygth' 'khrnyth' e'ln khnqn lh lmlth' wdl' p'r' hwy'
and the cares of this age, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

ܘܗܢܘܢ ܕܒܐܪܥܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܐܙܕܪܥܘ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܫܡܥܝܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܘܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܘܝܗܒܝܢ ܦܐܪܐ ܒܬܠܬܝܢ ܘܒܫܬܝܢ ܘܒܡܐܐ
whnwn db're' Tbth' 'zdrew hlyn 'nwn dshmeyn mlth' wmqblyn wyhbyn p'r' bthlthyn wbshthyn wbm''
Those which were sown on the good ground are those who hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, some thirty times, some sixty times, and some one hundred times.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܠܡܐ ܐܬܐ ܫܪܓܐ ܕܬܚܝܬ ܣܐܬܐ ܢܬܬܣܝܡ ܐܘ ܬܚܝܬ ܥܪܣܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܥܠ ܡܢܪܬܐ ܢܬܬܣܝܡ
w'mr lhwn dlm' 'th' shrg' dthkhyth s'th' nththsym 'w thkhyth ers' l' hw' del mnrth' nththsym
He said to them,
“Is the lamp brought to be put under a basket
or under a bed? Isn’t it put on a stand?

ܠܝܬ ܓܝܪ ܡܕܡ ܕܛܫܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܬܓܠܐ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܛܘܫܝܐ ܘܠܐ ܡܬܓܠܐ
lyth gyr mdm dTsh' dl' nthgl' wl' hw' bTwshy' wl' mthgl'
For there is nothing hidden, except that it should be made known; neither was anything made secret, but that it should come to light.

ܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܕܢܐ ܕܢܫܡܥ ܢܫܡܥ
'n 'nsh 'yth lh 'dn' dnshme nshme
If any man has ears to hear, let him hear.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܚܙܘ ܡܢܐ ܫܡܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܗܝ ܟܝܠܬܐ ܕܡܟܝܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܬܬܟܝܠ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܡܬܬܘܣܦ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܡܥܝܢ
w'mr lhwn khzw mn' shmeyn 'nthwn bhy kylth' dmkylyn 'nthwn mththkyl lkwn wmththwsp lkwn l'ylyn dshmeyn
He said to them,
“Take heed what you hear. With whatever measure you measure, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you who hear.

ܡܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܓܝܪ ܢܬܝܗܒ ܠܗ ܘܡܢ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܦ ܗܘ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܢܫܬܩܠ ܡܢܗ
mn d'yth lh gyr nthyhb lh wmn dlyth lh 'p hw d'yth lh nshthql mnh
For whoever has, to him will more be given, and he who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܝ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܟ ܐܢܫ ܕܢܪܡܐ ܙܪܥܐ ܒܐܪܥܐ
w'mr hw' hkn' hy mlkwth' d'lh' 'yk 'nsh dnrm' zre' b're'
He said,
“God’s Kingdom is as if a man should cast seed on the earth,

ܘܢܕܡܟ ܘܢܩܘܡ ܒܠܠܝܐ ܘܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܘܙܪܥܐ ܢܪܒܐ ܘܢܐܪܟ ܟܕ ܗܘ ܠܐ ܝܕܥ
wndmk wnqwm blly' wb'ymm' wzre' nrb' wn'rk kd hw l' yde
and should sleep and rise night and day, and the seed should spring up and grow, though he doesn’t know how.

ܐܪܥܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܝܬܝܐ ܠܗ ܠܦܐܪܐ ܘܠܘܩܕܡ ܗܘܐ ܥܣܒܐ ܘܒܬܪܗ ܫܒܠܐ ܐܚܪܝܬ ܕܝܢ ܚܛܬܐ ܡܫܡܠܝܬܐ ܒܫܒܠܐ
're' gyr mythy' lh lp'r' wlwqdm hw' esb' wbthrh shbl' 'khryth dyn khTth' mshmlyth' bshbl'
For the earth bears fruit: first the blade, then the ear, then the full grain in the ear.

ܡܐ ܕܫܡܢ ܕܝܢ ܦܐܪܐ ܡܚܕܐ ܐܬܝܐ ܡܓܠܐ ܕܡܛܝ ܚܨܕܐ
m' dshmn dyn p'r' mkhd' 'thy' mgl' dmTy khtsd'
But when the fruit is ripe, immediately he puts in the sickle, because the harvest has come.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܡܢܐ ܢܕܡܝܗ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܒܐܝܢܐ ܡܬܠܐ ܢܡܬܠܝܗ
w'mr lmn' ndmyh lmlkwth' d'lh' wb'yn' mthl' nmthlyh
He said,
“How will we liken God’s Kingdom? Or with what parable will we illustrate it?

ܐܝܟ ܦܪܕܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܚܪܕܠܐ ܗܝ ܕܡܐ ܕܐܙܕܪܥܬ ܒܐܪܥܐ ܙܥܘܪܝܐ ܗܝ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܙܪܥܘܢܐ ܕܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ
'yk prdth' hy dkhrdl' hy dm' d'zdreth b're' zewry' hy mn klhwn zrewn' del 're'
It’s like a grain of mustard seed, which, when it is sown in the earth, though it is less than all the seeds that are on the earth,

ܘܡܐ ܕܐܙܕܪܥܬ ܣܠܩܐ ܘܗܘܝܐ ܪܒܐ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܝܪܩܘܢܐ ܘܥܒܕܐ ܣܘܟܐ ܪܘܪܒܬܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܬܫܟܚ ܕܒܛܠܠܗ ܦܪܚܬܐ ܬܫܟܢ
wm' d'zdreth slq' whwy' rb' mn klhwn yrqwn' webd' swk' rwrbth' 'yk dthshkkh dbTllh prkhth' thshkn
yet when it is sown, grows up, and becomes greater than all the herbs, and puts out great branches, so that the birds of the sky can lodge under its shadow.”

ܒܡܬܠܐ ܕܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܡܠܠ ܗܘܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܡܬܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܡܫܡܥ
bmthl' d'yk hlyn mmll hw' yshwe emhwn mthl' 'yk dmshkkhyn hww lmshme
With many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear it.

ܘܕܠܐ ܡܬܠܐ ܠܐ ܡܡܠܠ ܗܘܐ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܒܝܢܘܗܝ ܘܠܗܘܢ ܡܦܫܩ ܗܘܐ ܟܠܡܕܡ
wdl' mthl' l' mmll hw' emhwn lthlmydwhy dyn bynwhy wlhwn mpshq hw' klmdm
Without a parable he didn’t speak to them; but privately to his own disciples he explained everything.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܒܪܡܫܐ ܢܥܒܪ ܠܢ ܠܥܒܪܐ
w'mr lhwn bhw ywm' brmsh' nebr ln lebr'
On that day, when evening had come, he said to them,
“Let’s go over to the other side.”

ܘܫܒܩܘ ܠܟܢܫܐ ܘܕܒܪܘܗܝ ܟܕ ܒܣܦܝܢܬܐ ܗܘ ܘܣܦܝܢܐ ܐܚܪܢܝܬܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܝ ܥܡܗܘܢ
wshbqw lknsh' wdbrwhy kd bspynth' hw wspyn' 'khrnyth' 'yth hwy emhwn
Leaving the multitude, they took him with them, even as he was, in the boat. Other small boats were also with him.

ܘܗܘܬ ܥܠܥܠܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܘܪܘܚܐ ܘܓܠܠܐ ܢܦܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܣܦܝܢܬܐ ܘܩܪܝܒܐ ܗܘܬ ܕܬܬܡܠܐ
whwth elel' rbth' wrwkh' wgll' nplyn hww bspynth' wqryb' hwth dththml'
A big wind storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so much that the boat was already filled.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܥܠ ܒܣܕܝܐ ܕܡܟ ܗܘܐ ܒܚܪܬܗ ܕܣܦܝܢܬܐ ܘܐܬܘ ܐܩܝܡܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܪܒܢ ܠܐ ܒܛܝܠ ܠܟ ܕܐܒܕܝܢ ܚܢܢ
hw dyn yshwe el bsdy' dmk hw' bkhrthh dspynth' w'thw 'qymwhy w'mryn lh rbn l' bTyl lk d'bdyn khnn
He himself was in the stern, asleep on the cushion, and they woke him up, and told him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we are dying?”

ܘܩܡ ܘܟܐܐ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝܡܐ ܫܠܝ ܙܓܝܪ ܐܢܬ ܘܫܠܝܬ ܪܘܚܐ ܘܗܘܐ ܢܘܚܐ ܪܒܐ
wqm wk'' brwkh' w'mr lym' shly zgyr 'nth wshlyth rwkh' whw' nwkh' rb'
He awoke, and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea,
“Peace! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܡܢܐ ܕܚܘܠܬܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܗܟܢ ܘܠܡܢܐ ܠܝܬ ܒܟܘܢ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ
w'mr lhwn lmn' dkhwlthnyn 'nthwn hkn wlmn' lyth bkwn hymnwth'
He said to them,
“Why are you so afraid? How is it that you have no faith?”

ܘܕܚܠܘ ܕܚܠܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ ܡܢܘ ܟܝ ܗܢܐ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܘܝܡܐ ܡܫܬܡܥܝܢ ܠܗ
wdkhlw dkhlth' rbth' w'mryn hww khd lkhd mnw ky hn' drwkh' wym' mshthmeyn lh
They were greatly afraid, and said to one another, “Who then is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”
