ܘܩܡ ܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܘܐܬܐ ܠܬܚܘܡܐ ܕܝܗܘܕ ܠܥܒܪܐ ܕܝܘܪܕܢܢ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܠܬܡܢ ܠܘܬܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܘܡܠܦ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܬܘܒ ܐܝܟ ܕܡܥܕ ܗܘܐ
hw' dmed 'yk thwb lhwn hw' wmlp sgy'' knsh' lwthh lthmn w'zlw dywrdnn lebr' dyhwd lthkhwm' w'th' thmn mn wqm
He arose from there and came into the borders of Judea and beyond the Jordan. Multitudes came together to him again. As he usually did, he was again teaching them.

ܘܩܪܒܘ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܡܢܣܝܢ ܠܗ ܘܡܫܐܠܝܢ ܕܐܢ ܫܠܝܛ ܠܓܒܪܐ ܕܢܫܒܘܩ ܐܢܬܬܗ

Pharisees came to him testing him, and asked him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܦܩܕܟܘܢ ܡܘܫܐ
mwsh' pqdkwn mn' lhwn 'mr
He answered, “What did Moses command you?”

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܡܘܫܐ ܐܦܣ ܠܢ ܕܢܟܬܘܒ ܟܬܒܐ ܕܫܘܒܩܢܐ ܘܢܫܪܐ
wnshr' dshwbqn' kthb' dnkthwb ln 'ps mwsh' 'mryn dyn hnwn
They said, “Moses allowed a certificate of divorce to be written, and to divorce her.”

ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܩܫܝܘܬ ܠܒܟܘܢ ܟܬܒ ܠܟܘܢ ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܗܢܐ
hn' pwqdn' lkwn kthb lbkwn qshywth lwqbl lhwn w'mr yshwe en'
But Jesus said to them, “For your hardness of heart, he wrote you this commandment.

ܡܢ ܒܪܫܝܬ ܕܝܢ ܕܟܪܐ ܘܢܩܒܬܐ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܠܗܐ
'lh' 'nwn ebd wnqbth' dkr' dyn brshyth mn
But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܢܫܒܘܩ ܓܒܪܐ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ ܘܠܐܡܗ ܘܢܩܦ ܠܐܢܬܬܗ
l'nththh wnqp wl'mh l'bwhy gbr' nshbwq hn' mTl
For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife,

ܘܢܗܘܘܢ ܬܪܝܗܘܢ ܚܕ ܒܣܪ ܡܟܝܠ ܠܐ ܗܘܘ ܬܪܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܚܕ ܒܣܪ
bsr khd 'l' thryn hww l' mkyl bsr khd thryhwn wnhwwn
and the two will become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh.

ܡܕܡ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܙܘܓ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܢܦܪܫ

What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate.”

ܘܫܐܠܘܗܝ ܬܘܒ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܒܒܝܬܐ ܥܠ ܗܕܐ
hd' el bbyth' thlmydwhy thwb wsh'lwhy
In the house, his disciples asked him again about the same matter.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܠ ܡܢ ܕܢܫܪܐ ܐܢܬܬܗ ܘܢܣܒ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܓܐܪ

He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife, and marries another, commits adultery against her.

ܘܐܢ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܬܫܪܐ ܒܥܠܗ ܘܬܗܘܐ ܠܐܚܪܢܐ ܓܝܪܐ
gyr' l'khrn' wthhw' belh thshr' 'nthth' w'n
If a woman herself divorces her husband, and marries another, she commits adultery.”

ܘܡܩܪܒܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܛܠܝܐ ܕܢܩܪܘܒ ܠܗܘܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܟܐܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܗܠܝܢ ܕܡܩܪܒܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn dmqrbyn bhlyn hww k'yn dyn thlmydwhy lhwn dnqrwb Tly' lh hww wmqrbyn
They were bringing to him little children, that he should touch them, but the disciples rebuked those who were bringing them.

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܚܙܐ ܘܐܬܒܐܫ ܠܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܒܘܩܘ ܛܠܝܐ ܐܬܝܢ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܠܐ ܬܟܠܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ

But when Jesus saw it, he was moved with indignation, and said to them, “Allow the little children to come to me! Don’t forbid them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.

ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܟܠ ܕܠܐ ܢܩܒܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܟ ܛܠܝܐ ܠܐ ܢܥܘܠ ܠܗ
lh newl l' Tly' 'yk d'lh' mlkwth' nqbl dl' dkl lkwn 'n' 'mr 'myn
Most certainly I tell you, whoever will not receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

ܘܫܩܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܪܥܘܗܝ ܘܣܡ ܐܝܕܗ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܒܪܟ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn wbrk elyhwn 'ydh wsm drewhy el 'nwn wshql
He took them in his arms, and blessed them, laying his hands on them.

ܘܟܕ ܪܕܐ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܪܗܛ ܚܕ ܢܦܠ ܥܠ ܒܘܪܟܘܗܝ ܘܡܫܐܠ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܛܒܐ ܡܢܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܕܐܬܪ ܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ

As he was going out into the way, one ran to him, knelt before him, and asked him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܢܐ ܩܪܐ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ ܛܒܐ ܠܝܬ ܛܒܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܚܕ ܐܠܗܐ
'lh' khd 'n 'l' Tb' lyth Tb' ly 'nth qr' mn' yshwe lh 'mr
Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except one—God.

ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܬ ܠܐ ܬܓܘܪ ܠܐ ܬܓܢܘܒ ܠܐ ܬܩܛܘܠ ܘܠܐ ܬܣܗܕ ܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܕܓܠܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܛܠܘܡ ܝܩܪ ܠܐܒܘܟ ܘܠܐܡܟ
wl'mk l'bwk yqr thTlwm l' dglth' shdwth' thshd wl' thqTwl l' thgnwb l' thgwr l' 'nth yde pwqdn'
You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not give false testimony,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and mother.’”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܥܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܢܛܪܬ ܐܢܝܢ ܡܢ ܛܠܝܘܬܝ
Tlywthy mn 'nyn nTrth klhyn hlyn mlpn' lh w'mr en' dyn hw
He said to him, “Teacher, I have observed all these things from my youth.”

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܚܪ ܒܗ ܘܐܚܒܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܚܕܐ ܚܣܝܪܐ ܠܟ ܙܠ ܙܒܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܟ ܘܗܒ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܬܗܘܐ ܠܟ ܣܝܡܬܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܘܣܒ ܨܠܝܒܐ ܘܬܐ ܒܬܪܝ

Jesus looking at him loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have, and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me, taking up the cross.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܟܡܪ ܒܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܐܙܠ ܟܕ ܥܝܝܩܐ ܠܗ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܗ ܓܝܪ ܢܟܣܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ

But his face fell at that saying, and he went away sorrowful, for he was one who had great possessions.

ܚܪ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܡܐ ܥܛܠܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܟܣܐ ܕܢܥܠܘܢ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ

Jesus looked around, and said to his disciples, “How difficult it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!”

ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܬܕܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܠ ܡܠܘܗܝ ܘܥܢܐ ܬܘܒ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܟܡܐ ܥܛܠܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܬܟܝܠܝܢ ܥܠ ܢܟܣܝܗܘܢ ܕܢܥܠܘܢ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

The disciples were amazed at his words. But Jesus answered again, “Children, how hard is it for those who trust in riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!

ܦܫܝܩ ܗܘ ܠܓܡܠܐ ܕܢܥܘܠ ܒܚܪܘܪܐ ܕܡܚܛܐ ܐܘ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܠܡܥܠ
lmel d'lh' lmlkwthh ethyr' 'w dmkhT' bkhrwr' dnewl lgml' hw pshyq
It is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܡܬܕܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܒܝܢܝܗܘܢ ܡܢܘ ܡܫܟܚ ܠܡܚܐ
lmkh' mshkkh mnw bynyhwn w'mryn hww mthdmryn ythyr'yth dyn hnwn
They were exceedingly astonished, saying to him, “Then who can be saved?”

ܚܪ ܕܝܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܘܬ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܗܕܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܓܝܪ ܡܫܟܚܐ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ

Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”

ܘܫܪܝ ܟܐܦܐ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܗܐ ܚܢܢ ܫܒܩܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܘܢܩܦܢܟ

Peter began to tell him, “Behold, we have left all, and have followed you.”

ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܠܝܬ ܐܢܫ ܕܫܒܩ ܒܬܐ ܐܘ ܐܚܐ ܐܘ ܐܚܘܬܐ ܐܘ ܐܒܐ ܐܘ ܐܡܐ ܐܘ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܘ ܒܢܝܐ ܐܘ ܩܘܪܝܐ ܡܛܠܬܝ ܘܡܛܠ ܣܒܪܬܝ

Jesus said, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or brothers, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or land, for my sake, and for the sake of the Good News,

ܘܠܐ ܢܩܒܠ ܚܕ ܒܡܐܐ ܗܫܐ ܒܙܒܢܐ ܗܢܐ ܒܬܐ ܘܐܚܐ ܘܐܚܘܬܐ ܘܐܡܗܬܐ ܘܒܢܝܐ ܘܩܘܪܝܐ ܥܡ ܪܕܘܦܝܐ ܘܒܥܠܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ
dlelm khy' d'th' wbelm' rdwpy' em wqwry' wbny' w'mhth' w'khwth' w'kh' bth' hn' bzbn' hsh' bm'' khd nqbl wl'
but he will receive one hundred times more now in this time, houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and land, with persecutions; and in the age to come eternal life.

ܣܓܝܐܐ ܕܝܢ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܕܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܚܪܝܐ ܘܐܚܪܝܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ

But many who are first will be last; and the last first.”

ܟܕ ܣܠܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܝܢ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܗܘ ܝܫܘܥ ܩܕܝܡ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܡܬܬܡܗܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܐܙܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܬܪܗ ܟܕ ܕܚܝܠܝܢ ܘܕܒܪ ܠܬܪܥܣܪܬܗ ܘܫܪܝ ܕܢܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܠܗ

They were on the way, going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus was going in front of them, and they were amazed; and those who followed were afraid. He again took the twelve, and began to tell them the things that were going to happen to him.

ܕܗܐ ܣܠܩܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܡܫܬܠܡ ܠܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܠܣܦܪܐ ܘܢܚܝܒܘܢܝܗܝ ܠܡܘܬܐ ܘܢܫܠܡܘܢܝܗܝ ܠܥܡܡܐ

“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem. The Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and the scribes. They will condemn him to death, and will deliver him to the Gentiles.

ܘܢܒܙܚܘܢ ܒܗ ܘܢܢܓܕܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܢܪܩܘܢ ܒܐܦܘܗܝ ܘܢܩܛܠܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܠܬܐ ܢܩܘܡ
nqwm dthlth' wlywm' wnqTlwnyhy b'pwhy wnrqwn wnngdwnyhy bh wnbzkhwn
They will mock him, spit on him, scourge him, and kill him. On the third day he will rise again.”

ܘܩܪܒܘ ܠܘܬܗ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܝܘܚܢܢ ܒܢܝ ܙܒܕܝ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܨܒܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܕܟܠ ܕܢܫܐܠ ܬܥܒܕ ܠܢ

James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came near to him, saying, “Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we will ask.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܥܒܕ ܠܟܘܢ
lkwn 'ebd 'nthwn tsbyn mn' lhwn 'mr
He said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܗܒ ܠܢ ܕܚܕ ܢܬܒ ܡܢ ܝܡܝܢܟ ܘܚܕ ܡܢ ܣܡܠܟ ܒܫܘܒܚܟ

They said to him, “Grant to us that we may sit, one at your right hand, and one at your left hand, in your glory.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܫܐܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܬܫܬܘܢ ܟܣܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܫܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܐ ܕܐܢܐ ܥܡܕ ܐܢܐ ܬܥܡܕܘܢ

But Jesus said to them, “You don’t know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I drink, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܫܟܚܝܢܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܟܣܐ ܕܫܬܐ ܐܢܐ ܬܫܬܘܢ ܘܡܥܡܘܕܝܬܐ ܕܥܡܕ ܐܢܐ ܬܥܡܕܘܢ

They said to him, “We are able.” Jesus said to them, “You shall indeed drink the cup that I drink, and you shall be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with;

ܕܬܬܒܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܝܡܝܢܝ ܘܡܢ ܣܡܠܝ ܠܐ ܗܘܬ ܕܝܠܝ ܠܡܬܠ ܐܠܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܛܝܒܐ
dmTyb' l'ylyn 'l' lmthl dyly hwth l' smly wmn ymyny mn dyn dththbwn
but to sit at my right hand and at my left hand is not mine to give, but for whom it has been prepared.”

ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥܘ ܥܣܪܐ ܫܪܝܘ ܪܛܢܝܢ ܥܠ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܝܘܚܢܢ

When the ten heard it, they began to be indignant towards James and John.

ܘܩܪܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܣܬܒܪܝܢ ܪܫܐ ܕܥܡܡܐ ܡܪܝܗܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܪܘܪܒܢܝܗܘܢ ܫܠܝܛܝܢ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ

Jesus summoned them, and said to them, “You know that they who are recognized as rulers over the nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them.

ܠܐ ܕܝܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܒܝܢܬܟܘܢ ܐܠܐ ܡܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܒܟܘܢ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܪܒܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܫܡܫܢܐ
mshmshn' lkwn nhw' rb' dnhw' bkwn dtsb' mn 'l' bynthkwn nhw' hkn' dyn l'
But it shall not be so among you, but whoever wants to become great among you shall be your servant.

ܐܦ ܒܪܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܐܬܐ ܕܢܫܬܡܫ ܐܠܐ ܕܢܫܡܫ ܘܕܢܬܠ ܢܦܫܗ ܦܘܪܩܢܐ ܚܠܦ ܣܓܝܐܐ

For the Son of Man also came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

ܘܐܬܘ ܠܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܘܟܕ ܢܦܩ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܢ ܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܗܘ ܘܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܟܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܛܝܡܝ ܒܪ-ܛܝܡܝ ܣܡܝܐ ܝܬܒ ܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܝܕ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܚܕܪ

They came to Jericho. As he went out from Jericho, with his disciples and a great multitude, the son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, was sitting by the road.

When he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out, and say, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

ܘܟܐܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܗ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܕܢܫܬܘܩ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܩܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܒܪܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܐܬܪܚܡ ܥܠܝ

Many rebuked him, that he should be quiet, but he cried out much more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”

ܘܩܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܦܩܕ ܕܢܩܪܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܩܪܐܘܗܝ ܠܣܡܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܬܠܒܒ ܩܘܡ ܩܪܐ ܠܟ

Jesus stood still, and said, “Call him.” They called the blind man, saying to him, “Cheer up! Get up. He is calling you!”

Jesus asked him, “What do you want me to do for you?” The blind man said to him, “Rabboni, that I may see again.”

ܘܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܚܙܝ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟ ܐܚܝܬܟ ܘܡܚܕܐ ܐܬܚܙܝ ܠܗ ܘܐܙܠ ܗܘܐ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ

Jesus said to him, “Go your way. Your faith has made you well.” Immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus on the way.
