ܘܩܪܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܬܪܥܣܪܬܗ ܘܝܗܒ ܠܗܘܢ ܚܝܠܐ ܘܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܥܠ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܫܐܕܐ ܘܟܘܪܗܢܐ ܠܡܐܣܝܘ
lm'syw wkwrhn' sh'd' klhwn el wshwlTn' khyl' lhwn wyhb lthresrthh yshwe wqr'
He called the twelve together, and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.

ܘܫܕܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܡܟܪܙܘ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܡܐܣܝܘ ܟܪܝܗܐ
kryh' wlm'syw d'lh' mlkwthh lmkrzw 'nwn wshdr
He sent them out to preach God’s Kingdom and to heal the sick.

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܬܫܩܠܘܢ ܠܐܘܪܚܐ ܠܐ ܫܒܛܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܪܡܠܐ ܘܠܐ ܠܚܡܐ ܘܠܐ ܟܣܦܐ ܘܠܐ ܬܪܬܝܢ ܟܘܬܝܢܝܢ ܢܗܘܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ
lkwn nhwyn kwthynyn thrthyn wl' ksp' wl' lkhm' wl' thrml' wl' shbT' l' l'wrkh' thshqlwn l' mdm lhwn w'mr
He said to them,
“Take nothing for your journey—neither staffs, nor wallet, nor bread, nor money; neither have two coats each.

ܘܠܐܝܢܐ ܒܝܬܐ ܕܥܐܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗ ܬܡܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܡܢ ܬܡܢ ܦܘܩܘ
pwqw thmn wmn hww thmn lh 'nthwn de'lyn byth' wl'yn'
Into whatever house you enter, stay there, and depart from there.

ܘܠܡܢ ܕܠܐ ܡܩܒܠܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܡܐ ܕܢܦܩܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܢ ܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܗܝ ܐܦ ܚܠܐ ܡܢ ܪܓܠܝܟܘܢ ܦܨܘ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܠܣܗܕܘܬܐ
lshdwth' elyhwn ptsw rglykwn mn khl' 'p hy mdynth' mn 'nthwn dnpqyn m' lkwn mqblyn dl' wlmn
As many as don’t receive you, when you depart from that city, shake off even the dust from your feet for a testimony against them.”

ܘܢܦܩܘ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܘܡܬܟܪܟܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܩܘܪܝܐ ܘܒܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܘܡܣܒܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܡܐܣܝܢ ܒܟܠ ܕܘܟ

They departed, and went throughout the villages, preaching the Good News, and healing everywhere.

ܫܡܥ ܕܝܢ ܗܪܘܕܣ ܛܛܪܪܟܐ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܕܗܘܝܢ ܗܘܝ ܒܐܝܕܗ ܘܡܬܕܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܢܫܝܢ ܕܝܘܚܢܢ ܩܡ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܡܝܬܐ

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him; and he was very perplexed, because it was said by some that John had risen from the dead,

ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܐܠܝܐ ܐܬܚܙܝ ܘܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܡܢ ܢܒܝܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܩܡ

and by some that Elijah had appeared, and by others that one of the old prophets had risen again.

ܘܐܡܪ ܗܪܘܕܣ ܪܫܗ ܕܝܘܚܢܢ ܐܢܐ ܦܣܩܬ ܡܢܘ ܕܝܢ ܗܢܐ ܕܗܠܝܢ ܫܡܥ ܐܢܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܨܒܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܢܚܙܝܘܗܝ

Herod said, “John I beheaded, but who is this, about whom I hear such things?” He sought to see him.

ܘܟܕ ܗܦܟܘ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܐܫܬܥܝܘ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕܘ ܘܕܒܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܠܚܘܕܝܗܘܢ ܠܐܬܪܐ ܚܘܪܒܐ ܕܒܝܬ-ܨܝܕܐ

The apostles, when they had returned, told him what things they had done.
He took them, and withdrew apart to a desert region of a city called Bethsaida.

ܟܢܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܝܕܥܘ ܐܙܠܘ ܒܬܪܗ ܘܩܒܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܡܡܠܠ ܗܘܐ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܥܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܣܢܝܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܠ ܐܣܝܘܬܐ ܡܐܣܐ ܗܘܐ
hw' m's' 'sywth' el hww dsnyqyn wl'ylyn d'lh' mlkwth' el emhwn hw' wmmll 'nwn wqbl bthrh 'zlw ydew kd dyn knsh'
But the multitudes, perceiving it, followed him. He welcomed them, and spoke to them of God’s Kingdom, and he cured those who needed healing.

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܫܪܝ ܝܘܡܐ ܠܡܨܠܐ ܩܪܒܘ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܫܪܝ ܠܟܢܫܐ ܕܢܐܙܠܘܢ ܠܩܘܪܝܐ ܕܚܕܪܝܢ ܘܠܟܦܪܘܢܐ ܕܢܫܪܘܢ ܒܗܘܢ ܘܢܫܟܚܘܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܣܝܒܪܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܐܬܪܐ ܚܘܪܒܐ ܐܝܬܝܢ

The day began to wear away; and the twelve came, and said to him, “Send the multitude away, that they may go into the surrounding villages and farms, and lodge, and get food, for we are here in a deserted place.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܗܒܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܐܟܠ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܝܬ ܠܢ ܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܚܡܫܐ ܠܚܡܝܢ ܘܬܪܝܢ ܢܘܢܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܐܙܠܢܢ ܘܙܒܢܢ ܣܝܒܪܬܐ ܠܗܢܐ ܟܠܗ ܥܡܐ

But he said to them,
“You give them something to eat.”
They said, “We have no more than five loaves and two fish, unless we should go and buy food for all these people.”

ܗܘܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܓܝܪ ܐܝܟ ܚܡܫܐ ܐܠܦܝܢ ܓܒܪܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܣܡܟܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܣܡܟܐ ܚܡܫܝܢ ܐܢܫܝܢ ܒܣܡܟܐ
bsmk' 'nshyn khmshyn smk' 'nwn 'smkw yshwe lhwn 'mr gbryn 'lpyn khmsh' 'yk gyr hww hwyn
For they were about five thousand men.
He said to his disciples,
“Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”

ܘܥܒܕܘ ܗܟܘܬ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܘܐܣܡܟܘ ܠܟܠܗܘܢ

They did so, and made them all sit down.

ܘܢܣܒ ܝܫܘܥ ܗܢܘܢ ܚܡܫܐ ܠܚܡܝܢ ܘܬܪܝܢ ܢܘܢܝܢ ܘܚܪ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܘܒܪܟ ܘܩܨܐ ܘܝܗܒ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܕܢܣܝܡܘܢ ܠܟܢܫܐ
lknsh' dnsymwn lthlmydwhy wyhb wqts' wbrk bshmy' wkhr nwnyn wthryn lkhmyn khmsh' hnwn yshwe wnsb
He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to the sky, he blessed them, and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the multitude.

ܘܐܟܠܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܘܣܒܥܘ ܘܫܩܠܘ ܩܨܝܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܘܬܪܘ ܬܪܥܣܪ ܩܘܦܝܢܝܢ
qwpynyn thresr d'wthrw mdm qtsy' wshqlw wsbew klhwn w'klw
They ate, and were all filled. They gathered up twelve baskets of broken pieces that were left over.

ܘܟܕ ܡܨܠܐ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܘܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܥܡܗ ܫܐܠ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܢܘ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܥܠܝ ܟܢܫܐ ܕܐܝܬܝ

As he was praying alone, the disciples were with him, and he asked them,
“Who do the multitudes say that I am?”

ܥܢܘ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܕܝܘܚܢܢ ܡܥܡܕܢܐ ܘܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܐܠܝܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܢܒܝܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܩܡ
qm qdmy' nby' mn khd dnby' dyn 'khrn' d'ly' w'khrn' memdn' dywkhnn lh w'mryn enw
They answered, “‘John the Baptizer,’ but others say, ‘Elijah,’ and others, that one of the old prophets is risen again.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܘ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܝܬܝ ܥܢܐ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܫܝܚܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

He said to them,
“But who do you say that I am?”
Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܟܐܐ ܒܗܘܢ ܘܙܗܪ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܗܕܐ ܠܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܢܐܡܪܘܢ
n'mrwn l' l'nsh dhd' 'nwn wzhr bhwn k'' dyn hw
But he warned them, and commanded them to tell this to no one,

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܗܘ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܕܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܢܚܫ ܘܕܢܣܬܠܐ ܡܢ ܩܫܝܫܐ ܘܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ ܘܣܦܪܐ ܘܢܩܛܠܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܠܬܐ ܢܩܘܡ
nqwm dthlth' wlywm' wnqTlwnyhy wspr' khn' wrby qshysh' mn wdnsthl' nkhsh dsgy'th' d'nsh' brh hw dethyd lhwn w'mr
saying,
“The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised up.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܩܕܡ ܟܠܢܫ ܡܢ ܕܨܒܐ ܕܢܐܬܐ ܒܬܪܝ ܢܟܦܘܪ ܒܢܦܫܗ ܘܢܫܩܘܠ ܙܩܝܦܗ ܟܠܝܘܡ ܘܢܐܬܐ ܒܬܪܝ
bthry wn'th' klywm zqyph wnshqwl bnpshh nkpwr bthry dn'th' dtsb' mn klnsh qdm hw' w'mr
He said to all,
“If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross,
and follow me.

ܡܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܨܒܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܢܚܐ ܡܘܒܕ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܢܘܒܕ ܢܦܫܗ ܡܛܠܬܝ ܗܢܐ ܡܚܐ ܠܗ
lh mkh' hn' mTlthy npshh dnwbd dyn mn lh mwbd nkh' dnpshh dtsb' gyr mn
For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, the same will save it.

ܡܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܢܬܥܕܪ ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܢܐܬܪ ܥܠܡܐ ܟܠܗ ܢܦܫܗ ܕܝܢ ܢܘܒܕ ܐܘ ܢܚܣܪ
nkhsr 'w nwbd dyn npshh klh elm' dn'thr 'nsh' br nthedr gyr mn'
For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?

ܡܢ ܕܢܒܗܬ ܒܝ ܕܝܢ ܘܒܡܠܝ ܢܒܗܬ ܒܗ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܒܫܘܒܚܐ ܕܐܒܘܗܝ ܥܡ ܡܠܐܟܘܗܝ ܩܕܝܫܐ
qdysh' ml'kwhy em d'bwhy bshwbkh' d'th' m' d'nsh' brh bh nbhth wbmly dyn by dnbhth mn
For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words, of him will the Son of Man be ashamed, when he comes in his glory, and the glory of the Father, and of the holy angels.

ܫܪܪܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܩܝܡܝܢ ܗܪܟܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܛܥܡܘܢ ܡܘܬܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܢܚܙܘܢ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' mlkwthh dnkhzwn edm' mwth' nTemwn dl' hrk' dqymyn 'nsh' d'yth lkwn 'n' 'mr shrr'
But I tell you the truth: There are some of those who stand here, who will in no way taste of death, until they see God’s Kingdom.”

ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܬܪ ܡܠܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܬܡܢܝܐ ܝܘܡܝܢ ܕܒܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܫܡܥܘܢ ܘܠܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܠܝܘܚܢܢ ܘܣܠܩ ܠܛܘܪܐ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ
lmtslyw lTwr' wslq wlywkhnn wlyeqwb lshmewn yshwe dbr ywmyn thmny' 'yk hlyn ml' bthr dyn hw'
About eight days after these sayings, he took with him Peter, John, and James, and went up onto the mountain to pray.

ܘܟܕ ܗܘ ܡܨܠܐ ܐܬܚܠܦ ܚܙܘܐ ܕܐܦܘܗܝ ܘܢܚܬܘܗܝ ܚܘܪܘ ܘܡܒܪܩܝܢ ܗܘܘ

As he was praying, the appearance of his face was altered, and his clothing became white and dazzling.

ܘܗܐ ܬܪܝܢ ܓܒܪܝܢ ܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܥܡܗ ܕܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܡܘܫܐ ܘܐܠܝܐ
w'ly' mwsh' d'ythyhwn emh hww mmllyn gbryn thryn wh'
Behold, two men were talking with him, who were Moses and Elijah,

ܕܐܬܚܙܝܘ ܒܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܝܢ ܥܠ ܡܦܩܢܗ ܕܥܬܝܕ ܗܘܐ ܕܢܫܬܠܡ ܒܐܘܪܫܠܡ
b'wrshlm dnshthlm hw' dethyd mpqnh el dyn hww 'mryn bthshbwkhth' d'thkhzyw
who appeared in glory, and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

ܘܝܩܪܘ ܗܘܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܒܫܢܬܐ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܘܗܢܘܢ ܕܥܡܗ ܘܠܡܚܣܢ ܐܬܬܥܝܪܘ ܘܚܙܘ ܫܘܒܚܗ ܘܠܗܢܘܢ ܬܪܝܢ ܐܢܫܝܢ ܕܩܝܡܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܘܬܗ
lwthh hww dqymyn 'nshyn thryn wlhnwn shwbkhh wkhzw 'ththeyrw wlmkhsn demh whnwn shmewn bshnth' lhwn hww wyqrw
Now Peter and those who were with him were heavy with sleep, but when they were fully awake, they saw his glory, and the two men who stood with him.

ܘܟܕ ܫܪܝܘ ܠܡܦܪܫ ܡܢܗ ܐܡܪ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܪܒܝ ܫܦܝܪ ܗܘ ܠܢ ܕܗܪܟܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܘܢܥܒܕ ܬܠܬ ܡܛܠܝܢ ܠܟ ܚܕܐ ܘܠܡܘܫܐ ܚܕܐ ܘܠܐܠܝܐ ܚܕܐ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܐ ܐܡܪ

As they were parting from him, Peter said to Jesus, “Master, it is good for us to be here. Let’s make three tents: one for you, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah,” not knowing what he said.

ܘܟܕ ܐܡܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܗܘܬ ܥܢܢܐ ܘܐܛܠܬ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܕܚܠܘ ܟܕ ܚܙܘ ܠܡܘܫܐ ܘܠܐܠܝܐ ܕܥܠܘ ܒܥܢܢܐ

While he said these things, a cloud came and overshadowed them, and they were afraid as they entered into the cloud.

ܘܩܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܥܢܢܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܗܢܘ ܒܪܝ ܚܒܝܒܐ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܘ

A voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is my beloved Son. Listen to him!”

ܘܟܕ ܗܘܐ ܩܠܐ ܐܫܬܟܚ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܠܚܘܕܘܗܝ ܘܗܢܘܢ ܫܬܩܘ ܘܠܐܢܫ ܠܐ ܐܡܪܘ ܒܗܢܘܢ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܚܙܘ
dkhzw mdm ywmth' bhnwn 'mrw l' wl'nsh shthqw whnwn blkhwdwhy yshwe 'shthkkh ql' hw' wkd
When the voice came, Jesus was found alone. They were silent, and told no one in those days any of the things which they had seen.

ܘܗܘܐ ܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܒܬܪܗ ܟܕ ܢܚܬܝܢ ܡܢ ܛܘܪܐ ܦܓܥ ܒܗܘܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ

On the next day, when they had come down from the mountain, a great multitude met him.

ܘܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܗܘ ܩܥܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܒܥܐ ܐܢܐ ܡܢܟ ܐܬܦܢܝ ܥܠܝ ܒܪܝ ܕܝܚܝܕܝܐ ܗܘ ܠܝ
ly hw dykhydy' bry ely 'thpny mnk 'n' be' mlpn' w'mr qe' hw knsh' mn khd wgbr'
Behold, a man from the crowd called out, saying, “Teacher, I beg you to look at my son, for he is my only child.

ܘܪܘܚܐ ܥܕܝܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܡܢ ܫܠܝܐ ܩܥܐ ܘܡܚܪܩ ܫܢܘܗܝ ܘܡܪܥܬ ܘܠܡܚܣܢ ܦܪܩܐ ܡܢܗ ܡܐ ܕܫܚܩܬܗ
dshkhqthh m' mnh prq' wlmkhsn wmreth shnwhy wmkhrq qe' shly' wmn elwhy edy' wrwkh'
Behold, a spirit takes him, he suddenly cries out, and it convulses him so that he foams, and it hardly departs from him, bruising him severely.

ܘܒܥܝܬ ܡܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܝܟ ܕܢܦܩܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܘ
'shkkhw wl' dnpqwnyhy thlmydyk mn wbeyth
I begged your disciples to cast it out, and they couldn’t.”

ܥܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܘܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܕܠܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܘܡܥܩܠܬܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܐܡܬܝ ܐܗܘܐ ܠܘܬܟܘܢ ܘܐܣܝܒܪܟܘܢ ܩܪܒܝܗܝ ܠܟܐ ܠܒܪܟ

Jesus answered,
“Faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you and bear with you? Bring your son here.”

ܘܟܕ ܡܩܪܒ ܠܗ ܐܪܡܝܗ ܕܝܘܐ ܗܘ ܘܡܥܣܗ ܘܟܐܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܘܚܐ ܗܝ ܛܢܦܬܐ ܘܐܣܝܗ ܠܛܠܝܐ ܘܝܗܒܗ ܠܐܒܘܗܝ

While he was still coming, the demon threw him down and convulsed him violently. But Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the boy, and gave him back to his father.

ܘܐܬܕܡܪܘ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܒܪܒܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܟܕ ܟܠܢܫ ܡܬܕܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܟܠ ܕܥܒܕ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ

They were all astonished at the majesty of God.
But while all were marveling at all the things which Jesus did, he said to his disciples,

ܣܝܡܘ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܠܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܒܐܕܢܝܟܘܢ ܒܪܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܥܬܝܕ ܕܢܫܬܠܡ ܒܐܝܕܝ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ
'nsh' bny b'ydy dnshthlm ethyd d'nsh' gyr brh b'dnykwn hlyn ml' 'nthwn symw
“Let these words sink into your ears, for the Son of Man will be delivered up into the hands of men.”

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܐܫܬܘܕܥܘܗ ܠܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܟܣܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܕܥܘܢܗ ܘܕܚܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܢܫܐܠܘܢܝܗܝ ܥܠܝܗ ܥܠ ܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ
hd' mlth' el elyh dnsh'lwnyhy hww wdkhlyn ndewnh dl' mnhwn hwth dmksy' mTl hd' lmlth' 'shthwdewh l' dyn hnwn
But they didn’t understand this saying. It was concealed from them, that they should not perceive it, and they were afraid to ask him about this saying.

ܘܥܠܬ ܒܗܘܢ ܡܚܫܒܬܐ ܕܡܢܘ ܟܝ ܪܒ ܒܗܘܢ

There arose an argument among them about which of them was the greatest.

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܝܕܥ ܡܚܫܒܬܐ ܕܠܒܗܘܢ ܘܢܣܒ ܛܠܝܐ ܘܐܩܝܡܗ ܠܘܬܗ

Jesus, perceiving the reasoning of their hearts, took a little child, and set him by his side,

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢ ܕܡܩܒܠ ܛܠܝܐ ܐܝܟ ܗܢܐ ܒܫܡܝ ܠܝ ܗܘ ܡܩܒܠ ܘܡܢ ܕܠܝ ܡܩܒܠ ܡܩܒܠ ܠܡܢ ܕܫܕܪܢܝ ܐܝܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܙܥܘܪ ܒܟܠܟܘܢ ܗܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܪܒ

and said to them,
“Whoever receives this little child in my name receives me. Whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For whoever is least among you all, this one will be great.”

ܘܥܢܐ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܪܒܢ ܚܙܝܢ ܐܢܫ ܕܡܦܩ ܕܝܘܐ ܒܫܡܟ ܘܟܠܝܢܝܗܝ ܥܠ ܕܠܐ ܐܬܐ ܥܡܢ ܒܬܪܟ

John answered, “Master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he doesn’t follow with us.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܐ ܬܟܠܘܢ ܡܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܠܘܩܒܠܟܘܢ ܚܠܦܝܟܘܢ ܗܘ
hw khlpykwn lwqblkwn hw' dl' gyr mn thklwn l' yshwe lhwn 'mr
Jesus said to him,
“Don’t forbid him, for he who is not against us is for us.”

ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܡܬܡܠܝܢ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܕܣܘܠܩܗ ܐܬܩܢ ܦܪܨܘܦܗ ܕܢܐܙܠ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ

It came to pass, when the days were near that he should be taken up, he intently set his face to go to Jerusalem,

ܘܫܕܪ ܡܠܐܟܐ ܩܕܡ ܦܪܨܘܦܗ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܥܠܘ ܠܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܫܡܪܝܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܢܬܩܢܘܢ ܠܗ

and sent messengers before his face. They went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, so as to prepare for him.

ܘܠܐ ܩܒܠܘܗܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܦܪܨܘܦܗ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܣܝܡ ܗܘܐ ܠܡܐܙܠ

They didn’t receive him, because he was traveling with his face set towards Jerusalem.

ܘܟܕ ܚܙܘ ܝܥܩܘܒ ܘܝܘܚܢܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܪܢ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܬ ܕܢܐܡܪ ܘܬܚܘܬ ܢܘܪܐ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܘܬܣܝܦ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܐܦ ܐܠܝܐ ܥܒܕ

When his disciples, James and John, saw this, they said, “Lord, do you want us to command fire to come down from the sky, and destroy them, just as Elijah did?”

ܘܐܬܦܢܝ ܘܟܐܐ ܒܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܝܕܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܪܘܚܐ

But he turned and rebuked them,
“You don’t know of what kind of spirit you are.

ܒܪܗ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܡܘܒܕܘ ܢܦܫܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܡܚܝܘ ܘܐܙܠܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܠܩܪܝܬܐ ܐܚܪܬܐ
'khrth' lqryth' lhwn w'zlw lmkhyw 'l' npshth' lmwbdw 'th' l' d'nsh' gyr brh
For the Son of Man didn’t come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.”
They went to another village.

ܘܟܕ ܐܙܠܝܢ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܢܫ ܐܬܐ ܒܬܪܟ ܠܐܬܪ ܕܐܙܠ ܐܢܬ ܡܪܝ

As they went on the way, a certain man said to him, “I want to follow you wherever you go, Lord.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܬܥܠܐ ܢܩܥܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܦܪܚܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ ܡܛܠܠܐ ܠܒܪܗ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܝܟܐ ܕܢܣܡܘܟ ܪܫܗ

Jesus said to him,
“The foxes have holes, and the birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܐܚܪܢܐ ܬܐ ܒܬܪܝ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܪܝ ܐܦܣ ܠܝ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܐܙܠ ܐܩܒܘܪ ܐܒܝ

He said to another,
“Follow me!”
But he said, “Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܫܒܘܩ ܡܝܬܐ ܩܒܪܝܢ ܡܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܢܬ ܙܠ ܣܒܪ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

But Jesus said to him,
“Leave the dead to bury their own dead, but you go and announce God’s Kingdom.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܐܬܐ ܒܬܪܟ ܡܪܝ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܕܝܢ ܐܦܣ ܠܝ ܐܙܠ ܐܫܠܡ ܠܒܢܝ ܒܝܬܝ ܘܐܬܐ

Another also said, “I want to follow you, Lord, but first allow me to say good-bye to those who are at my house.”
