ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܫܒܬܐ ܟܕ ܡܗܠܟ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܝܬ ܙܪܥܐ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܡܠܓܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܫܒܠܐ ܘܦܪܟܝܢ ܒܐܝܕܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܟܠܝܢ
hw' dyn bshbth' kd mhlk yshwe byth zre' thlmydwhy mlgyn hww shbl' wprkyn b'ydyhwn w'klyn
Now on the second Sabbath after the first, he was going through the grain fields. His disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate, rubbing them in their hands.

ܐܢܫܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܒܫܒܬܐ
'nshyn dyn mn prysh' 'mryn lhwn mn' ebdyn 'nthwn mdm dl' shlyT lmebd bshbth'
But some of the Pharisees said to them, “Why do you do that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath day?”

ܥܢܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܗܕܐ ܩܪܝܬܘܢ ܡܕܡ ܕܥܒܕ ܕܘܝܕ ܟܕ ܟܦܢ ܗܘ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܡܗ

Jesus, answering them, said,
“Haven’t you read what David did when he was hungry, he, and those who were with him;

ܕܥܠ ܠܒܝܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܠܚܡܐ ܕܦܬܘܪܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܢܣܒ ܐܟܠ ܘܝܗܒ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܡܗ ܗܘ ܕܠܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܗܘܐ ܠܡܐܟܠ ܐܠܐ ܠܟܗܢܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ

how he entered into God’s house, and took and ate the show bread, and gave also to those who were with him, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests alone?”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܡܪܗ ܗܘ ܕܫܒܬܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ

He said to them,
“The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”

ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܫܒܬܐ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܥܠ ܠܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܘܡܠܦ ܗܘܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܬܡܢ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܐܝܕܗ ܕܝܡܝܢܐ ܝܒܝܫܐ ܗܘܬ
hw' dyn lshbth' 'khrth' el lknwshth' wmlp hw' w'yth hw' thmn gbr' d'ydh dymyn' ybysh' hwth
It also happened on another Sabbath that he entered into the synagogue and taught. There was a man there, and his right hand was withered.

ܘܣܦܪܐ ܘܦܪܝܫܐ ܢܛܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܕܐܢ ܗܘ ܕܡܐܣܐ ܒܫܒܬܐ ܕܢܫܟܚܘܢ ܢܐܟܠܘܢ ܩܪܨܘܗܝ

The scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against him.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܕܥ ܡܚܫܒܬܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘ ܓܒܪܐ ܕܝܒܝܫܐ ܐܝܕܗ ܩܘܡ ܬܐ ܠܟ ܠܡܨܥܬ ܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܘܟܕ ܐܬܐ ܘܩܡ
hw dyn yde mkhshbthhwn w'mr lhw gbr' dybysh' 'ydh qwm th' lk lmtseth knwshth' wkd 'th' wqm
But he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man who had the withered hand,
“Rise up, and stand in the middle.” He arose and stood.

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܫܐܠܟܘܢ ܡܢܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܒܫܒܬܐ ܕܛܒ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܐܘ ܕܒܝܫ ܢܦܫܐ ܠܡܚܝܘ ܐܘ ܠܡܘܒܕܘ
'mr lhwn yshwe 'sh'lkwn mn' shlyT bshbth' dTb lmebd 'w dbysh npsh' lmkhyw 'w lmwbdw
Then Jesus said to them,
“I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?”

ܘܚܪ ܒܗܘܢ ܒܟܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܦܫܘܛ ܐܝܕܟ ܘܦܫܛ ܘܬܩܢܬ ܐܝܕܗ ܐܝܟ ܚܒܪܬܗ

He looked around at them all, and said to the man,
“Stretch out your hand.” He did, and his hand was restored as sound as the other.

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܡܠܝܘ ܚܣܡܐ ܘܡܡܠܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܚܕ ܥܡ ܚܕ ܕܡܢܐ ܢܥܒܕܘܢ ܠܗ ܠܝܫܘܥ

But they were filled with rage, and talked with one another about what they might do to Jesus.

ܗܘܐ ܕܝܢ ܒܝܘܡܬܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܦܩ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܛܘܪܐ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ ܘܬܡܢ ܐܓܗ ܗܘܐ ܒܨܠܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

In these days, he went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God.

When it was day, he called his disciples, and from them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles:

ܘܢܚܬ ܥܡܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܩܡ ܒܦܩܥܬܐ ܘܟܢܫܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܕܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܣܘܓܐܐ ܕܟܢܫܐ ܕܥܡܐ ܡܢ ܟܠܗ ܝܗܘܕ ܘܡܢ ܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܡܢ ܣܦܪ ܝܡܐ ܕܨܘܪ ܘܕܨܝܕܢ

He came down with them, and stood on a level place, with a crowd of his disciples, and a great number of the people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases;

as well as those who were troubled by unclean spirits, and they were being healed.

ܘܟܠܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܡܬܩܪܒܘ ܠܗ ܚܝܠܐ ܓܝܪ ܢܦܩ ܗܘܐ ܡܢܗ ܘܠܟܠܗܘܢ ܡܐܣܐ ܗܘܐ

All the multitude sought to touch him, for power came out of him and healed them all.

ܘܐܪܝܡ ܥܝܢܘܗܝ ܥܠ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܛܘܒܝܟܘܢ ܡܣܟܢܐ ܕܕܝܠܟܘܢ ܗܝ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ

He lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said,
“Blessed are you who are poor,
God’s Kingdom is yours.

ܛܘܒܝܟܘܢ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܟܦܢܝܢ ܗܫܐ ܕܬܣܒܥܘܢ ܛܘܒܝܟܘܢ ܠܕܒܟܝܢ ܗܫܐ ܕܬܓܚܟܘܢ

Blessed are you who hunger now,
for you will be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now,
for you will laugh.

ܛܘܒܝܟܘܢ ܡܐ ܕܣܢܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܘܡܦܪܫܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܡܚܣܕܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܡܦܩܝܢ ܫܡܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܒܝܫܐ ܚܠܦ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ
Twbykwn m' dsnyn lkwn bnynsh' wmprshyn lkwn wmkhsdyn lkwn wmpqyn shmkwn 'yk bysh' khlp brh d'nsh'
Blessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake.

ܚܕܘ ܒܗܘ ܝܘܡܐ ܘܕܘܨܘ ܕܐܓܪܟܘܢ ܣܓܝ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܐܒܗܬܗܘܢ ܠܢܒܝܐ
khdw bhw ywm' wdwtsw d'grkwn sgy bshmy' hkn' gyr ebdyn hww 'bhthhwn lnby'
Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same thing to the prophets.

ܒܪܡ ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܕܩܒܠܬܘܢ ܒܘܝܐܟܘܢ

“But woe to you who are rich!
For you have received your consolation.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܣܒܥܐ ܕܬܟܦܢܘܢ ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܕܓܚܟܝܢ ܗܫܐ ܕܬܒܟܘܢ ܘܬܬܐܒܠܘܢ

Woe to you, you who are full now,
for you will be hungry.
Woe to you who laugh now,
for you will mourn and weep.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܟܕ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܢܒܝܐ ܕܕܓܠܘܬܐ ܐܒܗܬܗܘܢ

Woe,
when
men speak well of you,
for their fathers did the same thing to the false prophets.

ܠܟܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܕܫܡܥܝܢ ܐܚܒܘ ܠܒܥܠܕܒܒܝܟܘܢ ܘܥܒܕܘ ܕܫܦܝܪ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܣܢܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ

“But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

ܘܒܪܟܘ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܝܛܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܘܨܠܘ ܥܠ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܕܒܪܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܩܛܝܪܐ
wbrkw l'ylyn dlyTyn lkwn wtslw el 'ylyn ddbryn lkwn bqTyr'
bless those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you.

ܘܠܕܡܚܐ ܠܟ ܥܠ ܦܟܟ ܩܪܒ ܠܗ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܘܡܢ ܡܢ ܕܫܩܠ ܡܪܛܘܛܟ ܠܐ ܬܟܠܐ ܐܦ ܟܘܬܝܢܟ

To him who strikes you on the cheek, offer also the other; and from him who takes away your cloak, don’t withhold your coat also.

ܠܟܠ ܕܫܐܠ ܠܟ ܗܒ ܠܗ ܘܡܢ ܡܢ ܕܫܩܠ ܕܝܠܟ ܠܐ ܬܬܒܥ

Give to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again.

ܘܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܢܥܒܕܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܗܟܘܬ ܥܒܕܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܬܘܢ

“As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them.

ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܡܚܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܚܒܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܗܝ ܛܝܒܘܬܟܘܢ ܐܦ ܓܝܪ ܚܛܝܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܚܒܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܪܚܡܝܢ
'n gyr mkhbyn 'nthwn l'ylyn dmkhbyn lkwn 'yd' hy Tybwthkwn 'p gyr khTy' l'ylyn dmkhbyn lhwn rkhmyn
If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

ܘܐܢ ܥܒܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܛܒ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܡܛܐܒܝܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܝܕܐ ܗܝ ܛܝܒܘܬܟܘܢ ܐܦ ܚܛܝܐ ܓܝܪ ܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܕܝܢ
w'n ebdyn 'nthwn dTb l'ylyn dmT'byn lkwn 'yd' hy Tybwthkwn 'p khTy' gyr hkn' ebdyn
If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

ܘܐܢ ܡܘܙܦܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܡܢ ܕܣܒܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܬܬܦܪܥܘܢ ܡܢܗ ܐܝܕܐ ܗܝ ܛܝܒܘܬܟܘܢ ܐܦ ܚܛܝܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܚܛܝܐ ܡܘܙܦܝܢ ܕܗܟܘܬ ܢܬܦܪܥܘܢ
w'n mwzpyn 'nthwn lmn dsbryn 'nthwn dththprewn mnh 'yd' hy Tybwthkwn 'p khTy' gyr lkhTy' mwzpyn dhkwth nthprewn
If you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive back as much.

ܒܪܡ ܐܚܒܘ ܠܒܥܠܕܒܒܝܟܘܢ ܘܐܛܐܒܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܐܘܙܦܘ ܘܠܐ ܬܦܣܩܘܢ ܣܒܪܐ ܕܐܢܫ ܘܢܗܘܐ ܣܓܝ ܐܓܪܟܘܢ ܘܬܗܘܘܢ ܒܢܘܗܝ ܕܪܡܐ ܕܗܘ ܒܣܝܡ ܗܘ ܥܠ ܒܝܫܐ ܘܥܠ ܟܦܘܪܐ
brm 'khbw lbeldbbykwn w'T'bw lhwn w'wzpw wl' thpsqwn sbr' d'nsh wnhw' sgy 'grkwn wthhwwn bnwhy drm' dhw bsym hw el bysh' wel kpwr'
But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

ܗܘܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܡܪܚܡܢܐ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܡܪܚܡܢܐ ܗܘ

“Therefore be merciful,
even as your Father is also merciful.

ܠܐ ܬܕܘܢܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܡܬܬܕܝܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܬܚܝܒܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܡܬܚܝܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܫܪܘ ܘܬܫܬܪܘܢ
l' thdwnwn wl' mththdynyn 'nthwn l' thkhybwn wl' mthkhybyn 'nthwn shrw wthshthrwn
Don’t judge,
and you won’t be judged.
Don’t condemn,
and you won’t be condemned.
Set free,
and you will be set free.

ܗܒܘ ܘܡܬܝܗܒ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܟܝܠܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܘܪܩܝܥܬܐ ܘܡܫܦܥܬܐ ܢܪܡܘܢ ܒܥܘܒܝܟܘܢ ܒܗܝ ܓܝܪ ܟܝܠܬܐ ܕܡܟܝܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܬܬܟܝܠ ܠܟܘܢ
hbw wmthyhb lkwn bkylth' Tbth' wrqyeth' wmshpeth' nrmwn bewbykwn bhy gyr kylth' dmkylyn 'nthwn mththkyl lkwn
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you.
For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.”

ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܬܠܐ ܠܡܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܣܡܝܐ ܠܣܡܝܐ ܠܡܕܒܪܘ ܠܐ ܬܪܝܗܘܢ ܒܓܘܡܨܐ ܢܦܠܝܢ

He spoke a parable to them.
“Can the blind guide the blind? Won’t they both fall into a pit?

ܠܝܬ ܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܕܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܪܒܗ ܟܠܢܫ ܓܝܪ ܕܓܡܝܪ ܢܗܘܐ ܐܝܟ ܪܒܗ

A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

ܡܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܚܙܐ ܐܢܬ ܓܠܐ ܕܒܥܝܢܗ ܕܐܚܘܟ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܕܒܥܝܢܟ ܠܐ ܡܬܚܙܝܐ ܠܟ
mn' dyn khz' 'nth gl' dbeynh d'khwk qryth' dyn dbeynk l' mthkhzy' lk
Why do you see the speck of chaff that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye?

ܐܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܬ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܠܐܚܘܟ ܐܚܝ ܫܒܘܩ ܐܦܩ ܓܠܐ ܡܢ ܥܝܢܟ ܕܗܐ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܕܒܥܝܢܟ ܕܝܠܟ ܠܐ ܡܬܚܙܝܐ ܠܟ ܢܣܒ ܒܐܦܐ ܐܦܩ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܩܪܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܥܝܢܟ ܘܗܝܕܝܢ ܢܬܚܙܐ ܠܟ ܠܡܦܩܘ ܓܠܐ ܡܢ ܥܝܢܗ ܕܐܚܘܟ

For each tree is known by its own fruit. For people don’t gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.

The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.

But he who hears, and doesn’t do, is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
