He entered and was passing through Jericho.

ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܕܫܡܗ ܙܟܝ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܗܘܐ ܘܪܒ ܡܟܣܐ
mks' wrb hw' ethyr' zky dshmh khd gbr'
There was a man named Zacchaeus. He was a chief tax collector, and he was rich.

ܘܨܒܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܢܚܙܐ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܕܡܢܘ ܘܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܒܩܘܡܬܗ ܙܥܘܪ ܗܘܐ ܙܟܝ
zky hw' zewr dbqwmthh mTl knsh' mn hw' mshkkh wl' dmnw lyshwe dnkhz' hw' wtsb'
He was trying to see who Jesus was, and couldn’t because of the crowd, because he was short.

ܘܪܗܛ ܩܕܡܗ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܘܣܠܩ ܠܗ ܠܬܬܐ ܦܟܝܗܬܐ ܕܢܚܙܝܘܗܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܗܟܘܬ ܥܬܝܕ ܗܘܐ ܕܢܥܒܪ

He ran on ahead, and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was going to pass that way.

ܘܟܕ ܐܬܐ ܠܗܝ ܕܘܟܬܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܚܙܝܗܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܣܬܪܗܒ ܚܘܬ ܙܟܝ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܘܠܐ ܕܒܒܝܬܟ ܐܗܘܐ

When Jesus came to the place, he looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”

ܘܐܣܬܪܗܒ ܢܚܬ ܘܩܒܠܗ ܟܕ ܚܕܐ

He hurried, came down, and received him joyfully.

ܟܕ ܚܙܘ ܕܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܪܛܢܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܕܠܘܬ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܛܝܐ ܥܠ ܫܪܐ

When they saw it, they all murmured, saying, “He has gone in to lodge with a man who is a sinner.”

ܩܡ ܕܝܢ ܙܟܝ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܗܐ ܡܪܝ ܦܠܓܘܬ ܢܟܣܝ ܝܗܒ ܐܢܐ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܠܟܠܢܫ ܡܕܡ ܕܓܠܙܬ ܚܕ ܒܐܪܒܥܐ ܦܪܥ ܐܢܐ

Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, half of my goods I give to the poor. If I have wrongfully exacted anything of anyone, I restore four times as much.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܝܘܡܢܐ ܗܘܘ ܚܝܐ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܗܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܦ ܗܢܐ ܒܪܗ ܗܘ ܕܐܒܪܗܡ

Jesus said to him, “Today, salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

ܐܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܕܢܒܥܐ ܘܢܚܐ ܗܘ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܒܝܕ ܗܘܐ
hw' d'byd mdm hw wnkh' dnbe' d'nsh' brh gyr 'th'
For the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost.”

ܘܟܕ ܫܡܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܘܣܦ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܡܬܠܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܩܪܝܒ ܗܘܐ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܣܒܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܕܒܗܝ ܫܥܬܐ ܥܬܝܕܐ ܕܬܬܓܠܐ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

As they heard these things, he went on and told a parable, because he was near Jerusalem, and they supposed that God’s Kingdom would be revealed immediately.

ܘܐܡܪ ܓܒܪܐ ܚܕ ܒܪ ܛܘܗܡܐ ܪܒܐ ܐܙܠ ܠܐܬܪܐ ܪܚܝܩܐ ܕܢܣܒ ܠܗ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܢܗܦܘܟ

He said therefore, “A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.

ܘܩܪܐ ܥܣܪܐ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܘܝܗܒ ܠܗܘܢ ܥܣܪܐ ܡܢܝܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܬܬܓܪܘ ܥܕ ܐܬܐ ܐܢܐ
'n' 'th' ed 'ththgrw lhwn w'mr mnyn esr' lhwn wyhb ebdwhy esr' wqr'
He called ten servants of his, and gave them ten mina coins, and told them, ‘Conduct business until I come.’

ܒܢܝ ܡܕܝܢܬܗ ܕܝܢ ܣܢܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܘܫܕܪܘ ܐܝܙܓܕܐ ܒܬܪܗ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܐ ܨܒܝܢ ܚܢܢ ܕܢܡܠܟ ܥܠܝܢ ܗܢܐ
hn' elyn dnmlk khnn tsbyn l' w'mryn bthrh 'yzgd' wshdrw lh hww snyn dyn mdynthh bny
But his citizens hated him, and sent an envoy after him, saying, ‘We don’t want this man to reign over us.’

ܘܟܕ ܢܣܒ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܘܗܦܟ ܐܡܪ ܕܢܩܪܘܢ ܠܗ ܗܢܘܢ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܕܝܗܒ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܣܦܐ ܕܢܕܥ ܡܢܐ ܟܠ ܚܕ ܚܕ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܐܬܬܓܪ
'ththgr mnhwn khd khd kl mn' dnde ksp' lhwn dyhb ebdwhy hnwn lh dnqrwn 'mr whpk mlkwth' nsb wkd
“When he had come back again, having received the kingdom, he commanded these servants, to whom he had given the money, to be called to him, that he might know what they had gained by conducting business.

ܘܐܬܐ ܩܕܡܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝ ܡܢܝܟ ܥܣܪܐ ܡܢܝܢ ܐܘܬܪ
'wthr mnyn esr' mnyk mry w'mr qdmy' w'th'
The first came before him, saying, ‘Lord, your mina has made ten more minas.’

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܐܝܘ ܥܒܕܐ ܛܒܐ ܕܒܩܠܝܠ ܐܫܬܟܚܬ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܬܗܘܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܥܠ ܥܣܪܐ ܟܪܟܝܢ
krkyn esr' el shlyT thhw' mhymn 'shthkkhth dbqlyl Tb' ebd' 'yw lh 'mr
“He said to him, ‘Well done, you good servant! Because you were found faithful with very little, you shall have authority over ten cities.’

ܘܐܬܐ ܕܬܪܝܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝ ܡܢܝܟ ܚܡܫܐ ܡܢܝܢ ܥܒܕ

“The second came, saying, ‘Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.’

ܐܡܪ ܐܦ ܠܗܢܐ ܐܦ ܐܢܬ ܬܗܘܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܥܠ ܚܡܫܐ ܟܪܟܝܢ
krkyn khmsh' el shlyT thhw' 'nth 'p lhn' 'p 'mr
“So he said to him, ‘And you are to be over five cities.’

ܘܐܬܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܝ ܗܐ ܡܢܝܟ ܗܘ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܠܘܬܝ ܟܕ ܣܝܡ ܒܣܕܘܢܐ
bsdwn' sym kd lwthy hw' d'yth hw mnyk h' mry w'mr 'khrn' w'th'
Another came, saying, ‘Lord, behold, your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief,

ܕܚܠܬ ܓܝܪ ܡܢܟ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܐܢܬ ܩܫܝܐ ܘܫܩܠ ܐܢܬ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܣܡܬ ܘܚܨܕ ܐܢܬ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܙܪܥܬ
zreth dl' mdm 'nth wkhtsd smth dl' mdm 'nth wshql qshy' 'nth dgbr' mnk gyr dkhlth
for I feared you, because you are an exacting man. You take up that which you didn’t lay down, and reap that which you didn’t sow.’

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܟ ܐܕܘܢܟ ܥܒܕܐ ܒܝܫܐ ܝܕܥ ܗܘܝܬ ܠܝ ܕܓܒܪܐ ܐܢܐ ܩܫܝܐ ܘܫܩܠ ܐܢܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܣܡܬ ܘܚܨܕ ܐܢܐ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܙܪܥܬ

“He said to him, ‘Out of your own mouth will I judge you, you wicked servant! You knew that I am an exacting man, taking up that which I didn’t lay down, and reaping that which I didn’t sow.

ܠܡܢܐ ܠܐ ܝܗܒܬ ܟܣܦܝ ܥܠ ܦܬܘܪܐ ܘܐܢܐ ܐܬܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܬܒܥ ܠܗ ܥܡ ܪܒܝܬܗ
rbythh em lh thbe hwyth 'th' w'n' pthwr' el kspy yhbth l' lmn'
Then why didn’t you deposit my money in the bank, and at my coming, I might have earned interest on it?’

ܘܠܗܢܘܢ ܕܩܝܡܝܢ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܐܡܪ ܣܒܘ ܡܢܗ ܡܢܝܐ ܘܗܒܘ ܠܗܘ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܘܬܗ ܥܣܪܐ ܡܢܝܢ
mnyn esr' lwthh d'yth lhw whbw mny' mnh sbw 'mr qdmwhy dqymyn wlhnwn
He said to those who stood by, ‘Take the mina away from him, and give it to him who has the ten minas.’

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܡܪܢ ܐܝܬ ܠܘܬܗ ܥܣܪܐ ܡܢܝܢ
mnyn esr' lwthh 'yth mrn lh 'mryn
“They said to him, ‘Lord, he has ten minas!’

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܠܟܠ ܡܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܢܬܝܗܒ ܠܗ ܘܡܢ ܗܘ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܦ ܗܘ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܢܬܢܣܒ ܡܢܗ
mnh nthnsb lh d'yth hw 'p lh dlyth hw wmn lh nthyhb lh d'yth mn dlkl lkwn 'n' 'mr lhwn 'mr
‘For I tell you that to everyone who has, will more be given; but from him who doesn’t have, even that which he has will be taken away from him.

ܒܪܡ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܒܥܠܕܒܒܝ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܨܒܘ ܕܐܡܠܟ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܐܝܬܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܩܛܠܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܩܕܡܝ
qdmy 'nwn wqTlw 'nwn 'ythw elyhwn d'mlk tsbw dl' 'ylyn beldbby lhnwn brm
But bring those enemies of mine who didn’t want me to reign over them here, and kill them before me.’”

ܘܟܕ ܐܡܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܢܦܩ ܠܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܕܢܐܙܠ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ

Having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

ܘܟܕ ܡܛܝ ܠܒܝܬ-ܦܓܐ ܘܒܝܬ-ܥܢܝܐ ܥܠ ܓܢܒ ܛܘܪܐ ܕܡܬܩܪܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܙܝܬܐ ܫܕܪ ܬܪܝܢ ܡܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ

When he came near to Bethsphage and Bethany, at the mountain that is called Olivet, he sent two of his disciples,

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܙܠܘ ܠܩܪܝܬܐ ܗܝ ܕܠܩܘܒܠܢ ܘܟܕ ܥܐܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗ ܗܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܝܠܐ ܕܐܣܝܪ ܕܐܢܫ ܡܡܬܘܡ ܠܐ ܪܟܒ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܫܪܘ ܐܝܬܐܘܗܝ

saying, “Go your way into the village on the other side, in which, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, which no man had ever sat upon. Untie it, and bring it.

ܘܐܢ ܐܢܫ ܡܫܐܠ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܡܢܐ ܫܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗ ܗܟܢܐ ܐܡܪܘ ܠܗ ܠܡܪܢ ܡܬܒܥܐ
mthbe' lmrn lh 'mrw hkn' lh 'nthwn shryn lmn' lkwn msh'l 'nsh w'n
If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ say to him: ‘The Lord needs it.’”

ܘܐܙܠܘ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܫܬܕܪܘ ܘܐܫܟܚܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ
lhwn d'mr 'ykn' w'shkkhw d'shthdrw hnwn w'zlw
Those who were sent went away, and found things just as he had told them.

ܘܟܕ ܫܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܠܥܝܠܐ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܪܘܗܝ ܡܢܐ ܫܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܝܠܐ ܗܘ
hw eyl' 'nthwn shryn mn' mrwhy lhwn 'mryn leyl' lh shryn wkd
As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?”

ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܠܡܪܢ ܡܬܒܥܐ
mthbe' dlmrn lhwn w'mrw
They said, “The Lord needs it.”

ܘܐܝܬܝܘܗܝ ܠܘܬ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܐܪܡܝܘ ܥܠ ܥܝܠܐ ܡܐܢܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܪܟܒܘܗܝ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܥܠܘܗܝ
elwhy lyshwe w'rkbwhy m'nyhwn eyl' el w'rmyw yshwe lwth w'ythywhy
They brought it to Jesus. They threw their cloaks on the colt, and set Jesus on them.

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܐܙܠ ܦܪܣܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܐܢܝܗܘܢ ܒܐܘܪܚܐ

As he went, they spread their cloaks on the road.

ܘܟܕ ܩܪܒ ܠܡܚܬܬܐ ܕܛܘܪܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܙܝܬܐ ܫܪܝܘ ܟܠܗ ܟܢܫܐ ܕܬܠܡܝܕܐ ܚܕܝܢ ܘܡܫܒܚܝܢ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܒܩܠܐ ܪܡܐ ܥܠ ܟܠ ܚܝܠܐ ܕܚܙܘ
dkhzw khyl' kl el rm' bql' l'lh' wmshbkhyn khdyn dthlmyd' knsh' klh shryw zyth' dbyth dTwr' lmkhthth' qrb wkd
As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen,

ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܪܝܟ ܗܘ ܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܒܫܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܫܠܡܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܘܫܘܒܚܐ ܒܡܪܘܡܐ
bmrwm' wshwbkh' bshmy' shlm' dmry' bshmh d'th' mlk' hw bryk hww w'mryn
saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!”

ܐܢܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܡܢ ܒܝܢܝ ܟܢܫܐ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܪܒܝ ܟܐܝ ܒܬܠܡܝܕܝܟ
bthlmydyk k'y rby lh 'mryn knsh' byny mn prysh' mn dyn 'nsh'
Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܢܫܬܩܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܢܩܥܝܢ
nqeyn k'p' nshthqwn hlyn d'n lkwn 'n' 'mr lhwn 'mr
He answered them, “I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.”

ܘܟܕ ܩܪܒ ܘܚܙܗ ܠܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܒܟܐ ܥܠܝܗ

When he came near, he saw the city and wept over it,

ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܘ ܟܝ ܝܕܥܬܝ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܝܬܝܗܝܢ ܕܫܠܡܟܝ ܐܦܢ ܒܗܢܐ ܝܘܡܟܝ ܗܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܟܣܝ ܠܗܝܢ ܡܢ ܥܝܢܝܟܝ
eynyky mn lhyn 'thksy dyn hsh' ywmky bhn' 'pn dshlmky d'ythyhyn 'ylyn ydethy ky 'lw w'mr
saying, “If you, even you, had known today the things which belong to your peace! But now, they are hidden from your eyes.

ܢܐܬܘܢ ܠܟܝ ܕܝܢ ܝܘܡܬܐ ܕܢܚܕܪܘܢܟܝ ܒܥܠܕܒܒܝܟܝ ܘܢܐܠܨܘܢܟܝ ܡܢ ܟܠ ܕܘܟܐ
dwk' kl mn wn'ltswnky beldbbyky dnkhdrwnky ywmth' dyn lky n'thwn
For the days will come on you, when your enemies will throw up a barricade against you, surround you, hem you in on every side,

ܘܢܣܚܦܘܢܟܝ ܘܠܒܢܝܟܝ ܒܓܘܟܝ ܘܠܐ ܢܫܒܩܘܢ ܒܟܝ ܟܐܦ ܥܠ ܟܐܦ ܚܠܦ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥܬܝ ܙܒܢܐ ܕܣܘܥܪܢܟܝ
dswernky zbn' ydethy dl' khlp k'p el k'p bky nshbqwn wl' bgwky wlbnyky wnskhpwnky
and will dash you and your children within you to the ground. They will not leave in you one stone on another, because you didn’t know the time of your visitation.”

ܘܟܕ ܥܠ ܠܗܝܟܠܐ ܫܪܝ ܠܡܦܩܘ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܙܒܢܝܢ ܒܗ ܘܡܙܒܢܝܢ
wmzbnyn bh dzbnyn l'ylyn lmpqw shry lhykl' el wkd
He entered into the temple, and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it,

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܬܝܒ ܕܒܝܬܝ ܒܝܬ ܨܠܘܬܐ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܥܒܕܬܘܢܝܗܝ ܡܥܪܬܐ ܕܠܣܛܝܐ
dlsTy' merth' ebdthwnyhy dyn 'nthwn 'ythwhy tslwth' byth dbythy kthyb lhwn w'mr
saying to them, “It is written, ‘My house is a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of robbers’!”

ܘܗܘ ܡܠܦ ܗܘܐ ܟܠ ܝܘܡ ܒܗܝܟܠܐ ܪܒܝ ܟܗܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܘܣܦܪܐ ܘܩܫܝܫܐ ܕܥܡܐ ܒܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܡܘܒܕܘܬܗ

He was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people sought to destroy him.

ܘܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܡܢܐ ܢܥܒܕܘܢ ܠܗ ܟܠܗ ܓܝܪ ܥܡܐ ܬܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܗ ܠܡܫܡܥܗ
lmshmeh bh hw' thl' em' gyr klh lh nebdwn mn' hww mshkkhyn wl'
