ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܦ ܡܬܠܐ ܕܒܟܠ ܥܕܢ ܢܨܠܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܡܐܢ ܠܗܘܢ

He also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up,

ܕܝܢܐ ܚܕ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܐ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܕܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܕܚܠ ܗܘܐ ܘܡܢ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܡܬܟܚܕ ܗܘܐ
hw' mthkkhd l' bnynsh' wmn hw' dkhl l' 'lh' dmn khd' bmdynth' hw' 'yth khd dyn'
saying,
“There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man.

ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܕܝܢ ܚܕܐ ܐܝܬ ܗܘܬ ܒܡܕܝܢܬܐ ܗܝ ܘܐܬܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܐܡܪܐ ܬܒܥܝܢܝ ܡܢ ܒܥܠ ܕܝܢܝ
dyny bel mn thbeyny w'mr' lwthh hwth w'thy' hy bmdynth' hwth 'yth khd' dyn 'rmlth'
A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’

ܘܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܗܘܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܒܬܪܟܢ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܒܢܦܫܗ ܐܢ ܡܢ ܐܠܗܐ ܠܐ ܕܚܠ ܐܢܐ ܘܡܢ ܒܢܝܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܡܬܟܚܕ ܐܢܐ
'n' mthkkhd l' bnynsh' wmn 'n' dkhl l' 'lh' mn 'n bnpshh 'mr dyn bthrkn sgy'' zbn' hw' tsb' wl'
He wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God, nor respect man,

ܐܦܢ ܡܛܠ ܕܡܠܐܝܐ ܠܝ ܗܕܐ ܐܪܡܠܬܐ ܐܬܒܥܝܗ ܕܠܐ ܒܟܠ ܥܕܢ ܬܗܘܐ ܐܬܝܐ ܡܗܪܐ ܠܝ
ly mhr' 'thy' thhw' edn bkl dl' 'thbeyh 'rmlth' hd' ly dml'y' mTl 'pn
yet because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’”

ܘܐܡܪ ܡܪܢ ܫܡܥܘ ܡܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܕܝܢܐ ܕܥܘܠܐ
dewl' dyn' 'mr mn' shmew mrn w'mr
The Lord said,
“Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.

ܐܠܗܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܢܥܒܕ ܬܒܥܬܐ ܠܓܒܘܗܝ ܕܩܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܒܐܝܡܡܐ ܘܒܠܠܝܐ ܘܡܓܪ ܪܘܚܗ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ
elyhwn rwkhh wmgr wblly' b'ymm' lh dqryn lgbwhy thbeth' nebd ythyr'yth l' dyn 'lh'
Won’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?

ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܢܥܒܕ ܬܒܥܬܗܘܢ ܒܥܓܠ ܒܪܡ ܢܐܬܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܘܢܫܟܚ ܟܝ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܐ ܥܠ ܐܪܥܐ

I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

ܘܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܡܬܠܐ ܗܢܐ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܐܢܫܐ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܬܟܝܠܝܢ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܗܘܢ ܕܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܙܕܝܩܐ ܘܒܣܝܢ ܥܠ ܟܠܢܫ

He spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.

ܬܪܝܢ ܓܒܪܝܢ ܣܠܩܘ ܠܗܝܟܠܐ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ ܚܕ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܘܐܚܪܢܐ ܡܟܣܐ

“Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.

ܘܗܘ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܩܐܡ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܢܘܗܝ ܠܢܦܫܗ ܘܗܠܝܢ ܡܨܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܘܕܐ ܐܢܐ ܠܟ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܐܝܟ ܫܪܟܐ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܚܛܘܦܐ ܘܥܠܘܒܐ ܘܓܝܪܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܗܢܐ ܡܟܣܐ

The Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: ‘God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

ܐܠܐ ܨܐܡ ܐܢܐ ܬܪܝܢ ܒܫܒܬܐ ܘܡܥܣܪ ܐܢܐ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܩܢܐ ܐܢܐ
'n' dqn' mdm kl 'n' wmesr bshbth' thryn 'n' ts'm 'l'
I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܡܟܣܐ ܩܐܡ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܪܘܚܩܐ ܘܠܐ ܨܒܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܦ ܠܐ ܥܝܢܘܗܝ ܢܪܝܡ ܠܫܡܝܐ ܐܠܐ ܛܪܦ ܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܚܕܝܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܐܠܗܐ ܚܘܢܝܢܝ ܠܚܛܝܐ
lkhTy' khwnyny 'lh' w'mr khdyh el hw' Trp 'l' lshmy' nrym eynwhy l' 'p hw' tsb' wl' rwkhq' mn hw' q'm mks' dyn hw
But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܢܚܬ ܗܢܐ ܡܙܕܩ ܠܒܝܬܗ ܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܗܘ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܟܠ ܐܢܫ ܓܝܪ ܕܢܪܝܡ ܢܦܫܗ ܢܬܡܟܟ ܘܟܠ ܕܢܡܟ ܢܦܫܗ ܢܬܬܪܝܡ

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

ܩܪܒܘ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ ܕܝܢ ܐܦ ܝܠܘܕܐ ܕܢܩܪܘܒ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܚܙܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܘܟܐܘ ܒܗܘܢ
bhwn wk'w thlmydwhy 'nwn wkhzw lhwn dnqrwb ylwd' 'p dyn lh hww qrbw
They were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܩܪܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܒܘܩܘ ܛܠܝܐ ܐܬܝܢ ܠܘܬܝ ܘܠܐ ܬܟܠܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܓܝܪ ܕܐܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܝܠܗܘܢ ܗܝ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܫܡܝܐ

Jesus summoned them, saying,
“Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.

ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܡܢ ܕܠܐ ܢܩܒܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܟ ܛܠܝܐ ܠܐ ܢܥܘܠ ܠܗ
lh newl l' Tly' 'yk d'lh' mlkwth' nqbl dl' dmn lkwn 'n' 'mr 'myn
Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

ܘܫܐܠܗ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܪܫܢܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܛܒܐ ܡܢܐ ܐܥܒܕ ܕܐܪܬ ܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ

A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܢܐ ܩܪܐ ܐܢܬ ܠܝ ܛܒܐ ܠܝܬ ܛܒܐ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܚܕ ܐܠܗܐ
'lh' khd 'n 'l' Tb' lyth Tb' ly 'nth qr' mn' yshwe lh 'mr
Jesus asked him,
“Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one—God.

ܦܘܩܕܢܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܢܬ ܠܐ ܬܩܛܘܠ ܘܠܐ ܬܓܘܪ ܘܠܐ ܬܓܢܘܒ ܘܠܐ ܬܣܗܕ ܣܗܕܘܬܐ ܕܫܘܩܪܐ ܝܩܪ ܠܐܒܘܟ ܘܠܐܡܟ
wl'mk l'bwk yqr dshwqr' shdwth' thshd wl' thgnwb wl' thgwr wl' thqTwl l' 'nth yde pwqdn'
You know the commandments: ‘Don’t commit adultery,’ ‘Don’t murder,’ ‘Don’t steal,’ ‘Don’t give false testimony,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܢܛܪܬ ܐܢܝܢ ܡܢ ܛܠܝܘܬܝ
Tlywthy mn 'nyn nTrth klhyn hlyn lh 'mr
He said, “I have observed all these things from my youth up.”

ܟܕ ܫܡܥ ܕܝܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܚܕܐ ܚܣܝܪܐ ܠܟ ܙܠ ܙܒܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܟ ܘܗܒ ܠܡܣܟܢܐ ܘܬܗܘܐ ܠܟ ܣܝܡܬܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܘܬܐ ܒܬܪܝ

When Jesus heard these things, he said to him,
“You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Come, follow me.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܫܡܥ ܗܠܝܢ ܟܪܝܬ ܠܗ ܥܬܝܪ ܗܘܐ ܓܝܪ ܛܒ
Tb gyr hw' ethyr lh kryth hlyn shme kd dyn hw
But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.

ܘܟܕ ܚܙܐ ܝܫܘܥ ܕܟܪܝܬ ܠܗ ܐܡܪ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܥܛܠܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܟܣܐ ܕܢܥܠܘܢ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

Jesus, seeing that he became very sad, said,
“How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!

ܕܠܝܠܐ ܗܝ ܠܓܡܠܐ ܕܒܚܪܘܪܐ ܕܡܚܛܐ ܢܥܘܠ ܐܘ ܥܬܝܪܐ ܠܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' lmlkwthh ethyr' 'w newl dmkhT' dbkhrwr' lgml' hy dlyl'
For it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܡܥܘ ܘܡܢܘ ܡܫܟܚ ܠܡܚܐ
lmkh' mshkkh wmnw dshmew 'ylyn lh 'mryn
Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?”

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܘܬ ܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚܢ ܠܘܬ ܐܠܗܐ ܡܫܟܚܢ ܠܡܗܘܐ
lmhw' mshkkhn 'lh' lwth mshkkhn l' 'nsh' bny dlwth 'ylyn 'mr dyn yshwe
But he said,
“The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܫܡܥܘܢ ܟܐܦܐ ܗܐ ܚܢܢ ܫܒܩܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܘܐܬܝܢ ܒܬܪܟ
bthrk w'thyn mdm kl shbqn khnn h' k'p' shmewn lh 'mr
Peter said, “Look, we have left everything, and followed you.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܠܝܬ ܐܢܫ ܕܫܒܩ ܒܬܐ ܐܘ ܐܒܗܐ ܐܘ ܐܚܐ ܐܘ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܐܘ ܒܢܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܡܠܟܘܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ

He said to them,
“Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for God’s Kingdom’s sake,

ܘܠܐ ܢܩܒܠ ܒܐܥܦܐ ܣܓܝܐܐ ܒܗܢܐ ܙܒܢܐ ܘܒܥܠܡܐ ܕܐܬܐ ܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ
dlelm khy' d'th' wbelm' zbn' bhn' sgy'' b'ep' nqbl wl'
who will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life.”

ܘܕܒܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܠܬܪܥܣܪܬܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܐ ܣܠܩܝܢܢ ܠܐܘܪܫܠܡ ܘܡܫܬܠܡܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܕܟܬܝܒܢ ܒܢܒܝܐ ܥܠ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ
d'nsh' brh el bnby' dkthybn klhyn wmshthlmn l'wrshlm slqynn h' lhwn w'mr lthresrthh yshwe wdbr
He took the twelve aside, and said to them,
“Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.

ܢܫܬܠܡ ܓܝܪ ܠܥܡܡܐ ܘܢܒܙܚܘܢ ܒܗ ܘܢܪܩܘܢ ܒܐܦܘܗܝ
b'pwhy wnrqwn bh wnbzkhwn lemm' gyr nshthlm
For he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.

ܘܢܢܓܕܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܢܨܥܪܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܢܩܛܠܘܢܝܗܝ ܘܠܝܘܡܐ ܕܬܠܬܐ ܢܩܘܡ
nqwm dthlth' wlywm' wnqTlwnyhy wntserwnyhy wnngdwnyhy
They will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again.”

ܗܢܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܠܐ ܐܣܬܟܠܘ ܐܠܐ ܡܟܣܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܡܠܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܡܬܡܠܠܢ ܥܡܗܘܢ

They understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn’t understand the things that were said.

ܘܟܕ ܩܪܝܒ ܠܐܝܪܝܚܘ ܣܡܝܐ ܚܕ ܝܬܒ ܗܘܐ ܥܠ ܝܕ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܚܕܪ

As he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.

ܘܫܡܥ ܩܠ ܟܢܫܐ ܕܥܒܪ ܘܡܫܐܠ ܗܘܐ ܕܡܢܘ ܗܢܐ
hn' dmnw hw' wmsh'l debr knsh' ql wshme
Hearing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant.

ܐܡܪܝܢ ܠܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܢܨܪܝܐ ܥܒܪ
ebr ntsry' yshwe lh 'mryn
They told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38
ܘܩܥܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܐܬܪܚܡ ܥܠܝ
ely 'thrkhm ddwyd brh yshwe w'mr wqe'
He cried out, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܐܙܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܩܕܡܘܗܝ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܟܐܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܒܗ ܕܢܫܬܘܩ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܩܥܐ ܗܘܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܕܘܝܕ ܐܬܪܚܡ ܥܠܝ
ely 'thrkhm ddwyd brh hw' qe' ythyr'yth dyn hw dnshthwq bh hww k'yn dyshwe qdmwhy hww d'zlyn w'ylyn
Those who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”

ܘܩܡ ܝܫܘܥ ܘܦܩܕ ܕܢܝܬܘܢܝܗܝ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܟܕ ܩܪܒ ܠܘܬܗ ܫܐܠܗ

Standing still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܢܐ ܨܒܐ ܐܢܬ ܐܥܒܕ ܠܟ ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܡܪܝ ܕܐܚܙܐ

“What do you want me to do?”
He said, “Lord, that I may see again.”

ܘܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܚܙܝ ܗܝܡܢܘܬܟ ܐܚܝܬܟ
'khythk hymnwthk khzy lh 'mr wyshwe
Jesus said to him,
“Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.”
