ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܗܘ ܡܨܠܐ ܒܕܘܟܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܟܕ ܫܠܡ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܡܪܢ ܐܠܦܝܢ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܐܠܦ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ

When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܡܨܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܒܘܢ ܕܒܫܡܝܐ ܢܬܩܕܫ ܫܡܟ ܬܐܬܐ ܡܠܟܘܬܟ ܢܗܘܐ ܨܒܝܢܟ ܐܝܟ ܕܒܫܡܝܐ ܐܦ ܒܐܪܥܐ

He said to them,
“When you pray, say,
‘Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come.
May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

ܘܫܒܘܩ ܠܢ ܚܛܗܝܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܚܢܢ ܓܝܪ ܫܒܩܢ ܠܟܠ ܕܚܝܒܝܢ ܠܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܥܠܢ ܠܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܦܪܘܩܝܢ ܡܢ ܒܝܫܐ
bysh' mn prwqyn 'l' lnsywn' theln wl' ln dkhybyn lkl shbqn gyr 'nkhnn 'p khThyn ln wshbwq
Forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
Bring us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܪܚܡܐ ܘܢܐܙܠ ܠܘܬܗ ܒܦܠܓܘܬ ܠܠܝܐ ܘܢܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܪܚܡܝ ܐܫܐܠܝܢܝ ܬܠܬ ܓܪܝܨܢ

He said to them,
“Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,

ܡܛܠ ܕܪܚܡܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܝ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܠܝ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܣܝܡ ܠܗ
lh d'sym mdm ly wlyth 'wrkh' mn lwthy 'th' drkhm' mTl
for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’

ܘܗܘ ܪܚܡܗ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܢܥܢܐ ܘܢܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܬܗܪܝܢܝ ܕܗܐ ܬܪܥܐ ܐܚܝܕ ܗܘ ܘܒܢܝ ܥܡܝ ܒܥܪܣܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܩܘܡ ܘܐܬܠ ܠܟ

and he from within will answer and say, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give it to you’?

ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢ ܡܛܠ ܪܚܡܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܠ ܠܗ ܡܛܠ ܚܨܝܦܘܬܗ ܢܩܘܡ ܘܢܬܠ ܠܗ ܟܡܐ ܕܡܬܒܥܐ ܠܗ
lh dmthbe' km' lh wnthl nqwm khtsypwthh mTl lh nthl l' rkhmwth' mTl d'n lkwn 'n' 'mr
I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܫܐܠܘ ܘܢܬܝܗܒ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܥܘ ܘܬܫܟܚܘܢ ܩܘܫܘ ܘܢܬܦܬܚ ܠܟܘܢ
lkwn wnthpthkh qwshw wthshkkhwn bew lkwn wnthyhb sh'lw lkwn 'n' 'mr 'n' 'p
“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.

ܟܠ ܓܝܪ ܕܫܐܠ ܢܣܒ ܘܕܒܥܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܘܕܢܩܫ ܡܬܦܬܚ ܠܗ

For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

ܐܝܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܐܒܐ ܕܢܫܐܠܝܘܗܝ ܒܪܗ ܠܚܡܐ ܠܡܐ ܟܐܦܐ ܡܘܫܛ ܠܗ ܘܐܢ ܢܘܢܐ ܢܫܐܠܝܘܗܝ ܠܡܐ ܚܠܦ ܢܘܢܐ ܚܘܝܐ ܡܘܫܛ ܠܗ
lh mwshT khwy' nwn' khlp lm' nsh'lywhy nwn' w'n lh mwshT k'p' lm' lkhm' brh dnsh'lywhy 'b' mnkwn gyr 'yn'
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?

ܘܐܢ ܒܪܬܐ ܢܫܐܠܝܘܗܝ ܠܡܐ ܗܘ ܥܩܪܒܐ ܡܘܫܛ ܠܗ

Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he?

ܘܐܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܒܝܫܐ ܐܝܬܝܟܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܠܡܬܠ ܠܒܢܝܟܘܢ ܟܡܐ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܢܬܠ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܐܠܝܢ ܠܗ
lh dsh'lyn l'ylyn dqwdsh' rwkh' nthl shmy' mn 'bwkwn ythyr'yth km' lbnykwn lmthl Tbth' mwhbth' 'nthwn ydeyn 'ythykwn dbysh' 'nthwn w'n
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

ܘܟܕ ܡܦܩ ܫܐܕܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܚܪܫܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܢܦܩ ܗܘ ܫܐܕܐ ܡܠܠ ܗܘ ܚܪܫܐ ܘܐܬܕܡܪܘ ܟܢܫܐ

He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled.

ܐܢܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܐܡܪܘ ܒܒܥܠܙܒܘܒ ܪܫܐ ܕܕܝܘܐ ܡܦܩ ܗܢܐ ܕܝܘܐ
dyw' hn' mpq ddyw' rsh' bbelzbwb 'mrw mnhwn dyn 'nsh'
But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”

ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܡܢܣܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܬܐ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܫܐܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ

Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܕܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܡܚܫܒܬܗܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܠ ܡܠܟܘ ܕܬܬܦܠܓ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܗ ܬܚܪܒ ܘܒܝܬܐ ܕܥܠ ܩܢܘܡܗ ܡܬܦܠܓ ܢܦܠ

But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them,
“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls.

ܘܐܢ ܣܛܢܐ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܗ ܐܬܦܠܓ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܬܩܘܡ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܒܒܥܠܙܒܘܒ ܡܦܩ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܘܐ
dyw' 'n' mpq dbbelzbwb 'nthwn d'mryn mlkwthh thqwm 'ykn' 'thplg npshh el sTn' w'n
If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

ܘܐܢ ܐܢܐ ܒܒܥܠܙܒܘܒ ܡܦܩ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܘܐ ܒܢܝܟܘܢ ܒܡܢܐ ܡܦܩܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܝܢܐ
dyn' lkwn nhwwn hnwn hn' mTl mpqyn bmn' bnykwn dyw' 'n' mpq bbelzbwb 'n' w'n
But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore will they be your judges.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܒܨܒܥܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܦܩ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܘܐ ܩܪܒܬ ܠܗ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ
d'lh' mlkwthh elykwn lh qrbth dyw' 'n' mpq d'lh' btsbe' dyn 'n
But if I by God’s finger cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come to you.

ܐܡܬܝ ܕܚܣܝܢܐ ܟܕ ܡܙܝܢ ܢܛܪ ܕܪܬܗ ܒܫܝܢܐ ܗܘ ܩܢܝܢܗ
qnynh hw bshyn' drthh nTr mzyn kd dkhsyn' 'mthy
“When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܢܐܬܐ ܡܢ ܕܚܣܝܢ ܡܢܗ ܢܙܟܝܘܗܝ ܟܠܗ ܙܝܢܗ ܫܩܠ ܗܘ ܕܬܟܝܠ ܗܘܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܒܙܬܗ ܡܦܠܓ
mplg wbzthh elwhy hw' dthkyl hw shql zynh klh nzkywhy mnh dkhsyn mn n'th' dyn 'n
But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.

ܡܢ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܥܡܝ ܠܘܩܒܠܝ ܗܘ ܘܡܢ ܕܠܐ ܟܢܫ ܥܡܝ ܡܒܕܪܘ ܡܒܕܪ
mbdr mbdrw emy knsh dl' wmn hw lwqbly emy hw' dl' mn
“He that is not with me is against me. He who doesn’t gather with me scatters.

ܪܘܚܐ ܛܢܦܬܐ ܡܐ ܕܢܦܩܬ ܡܢ ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܐܙܠܐ ܡܬܟܪܟܐ ܒܐܬܪܘܬܐ ܕܡܝܐ ܠܝܬ ܒܗܘܢ ܕܬܒܥܐ ܠܗ ܢܝܚܐ ܘܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܬ ܐܡܪܐ ܐܗܦܘܟ ܠܒܝܬܝ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܕܢܦܩܬ
dnpqth 'ymk' lbythy 'hpwk 'mr' 'shkkhth dl' wm' nykh' lh dthbe' bhwn lyth dmy' b'thrwth' mthkrk' 'zl' 'nsh' br mn dnpqth m' Tnpth' rwkh'
The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest, and finding none, he says, ‘I will turn back to my house from which I came out.’

ܘܐܢ ܐܬܬ ܐܫܟܚܬܗ ܕܚܡܝܡ ܘܡܨܒܬ
wmtsbth dkhmym 'shkkhthh 'thth w'n
When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܙܠܐ ܕܒܪܐ ܫܒܥ ܪܘܚܝܢ ܐܚܪܢܝܢ ܕܒܝܫܢ ܡܢܗ ܘܥܐܠܢ ܘܥܡܪܢ ܬܡܢ ܘܗܘܝܐ ܚܪܬܗ ܕܒܪܢܫܐ ܗܘ ܒܝܫܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܬܗ
qdmythh mn bysh' hw dbrnsh' khrthh whwy' thmn wemrn we'ln mnh dbyshn 'khrnyn rwkhyn shbe dbr' 'zl' hydyn
Then he goes, and takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”

ܘܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܡܠܠ ܗܘܐ ܐܪܝܡܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܩܠܗ ܡܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܗ ܛܘܒܝܗ ܠܟܪܣܐ ܕܛܥܢܬܟ ܘܠܬܕܝܐ ܕܐܝܢܩܘܟ
d'ynqwk wlthdy' dTenthk lkrs' Twbyh lh w'mrth knsh' mn qlh khd' 'nthth' 'rymth hw' mmll hlyn wkd
It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܗܘ ܛܘܒܝܗܘܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܡܥܘ ܡܠܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܘܢܛܪܝܢ ܠܗ
lh wnTryn d'lh' mlthh dshmew l'ylyn Twbyhwn hw lh 'mr
But he said,
“On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”

ܘܟܕ ܡܬܟܢܫܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܟܢܫܐ ܫܪܝ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܐܬܐ ܒܥܝܐ ܘܐܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܬܝܗܒ ܠܗ ܐܠܐ ܐܬܗ ܕܝܘܢܢ ܢܒܝܐ

When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say,
“This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah, the prophet.

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܗܘܐ ܝܘܢܢ ܐܬܐ ܠܢܝܢܘܝܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܐܦ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܠܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ
hd' lshrbth' d'nsh' brh 'p nhw' hkn' lnynwy' 'th' ywnn dhw' gyr 'ykn'
For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will also the Son of Man be to this generation.

ܡܠܟܬܐ ܕܬܝܡܢܐ ܬܩܘܡ ܒܕܝܢܐ ܥܡ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܬܚܝܒ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܐܬܬ ܡܢ ܥܒܪܝܗ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܕܬܫܡܥ ܚܟܡܬܗ ܕܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܘܗܐ ܕܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܗܪܟܐ
hrk' shlymwn mn dythyr wh' dshlymwn khkmthh dthshme d're' ebryh mn d'thth 'nwn wthkhyb hd' dshrbth' 'nsh' em bdyn' thqwm dthymn' mlkth'
The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and will condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here.

ܓܒܪܐ ܢܝܢܘܝܐ ܢܩܘܡܘܢ ܒܕܝܢܐ ܥܡ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܢܚܝܒܘܢܗ ܕܬܒܘ ܒܟܪܘܙܘܬܗ ܕܝܘܢܢ ܘܗܐ ܕܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܝܘܢܢ ܗܪܟܐ
hrk' ywnn mn dythyr wh' dywnn bkrwzwthh dthbw wnkhybwnh hd' shrbth' em bdyn' nqwmwn nynwy' gbr'
The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, one greater than Jonah is here.

ܠܐ ܐܢܫ ܡܢܗܪ ܫܪܓܐ ܘܣܐܡ ܠܗ ܒܟܣܝܐ ܐܘ ܬܚܝܬ ܣܐܬܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܥܠ ܡܢ ܡܢܪܬܐ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܐܠܝܢ ܢܚܙܘܢ ܢܘܗܪܗ
nwhrh nkhzwn de'lyn d'ylyn mnrth' mn lel 'l' s'th' thkhyth 'w bksy' lh ws'm shrg' mnhr 'nsh l'
“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.

ܫܪܓܗ ܕܦܓܪܟ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܥܝܢܟ ܐܡܬܝ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܥܝܢܟ ܦܫܝܛܐ ܐܦ ܟܠܗ ܦܓܪܟ ܢܗܘܐ ܢܗܝܪ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܬܗܘܐ ܒܝܫܐ ܘܐܦ ܦܓܪܟ ܢܗܘܐ ܚܫܘܟ
khshwk nhw' pgrk w'p bysh' thhw' dyn 'n nhyr nhw' pgrk klh 'p pshyT' deynk hkyl 'mthy eynk 'ythyh dpgrk shrgh
The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.

ܐܙܕܗܪ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܠܡܐ ܢܘܗܪܐ ܕܒܟ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܗܘ
hw khshwk' dbk nwhr' dlm' hkyl 'zdhr
Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܦܓܪܟ ܟܠܗ ܢܗܝܪ ܘܠܝܬ ܒܗ ܡܢܬܐ ܡܕܡ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܢܗܪ ܟܠܗ ܐܝܟ ܕܫܪܓܐ ܒܕܠܩܗ ܡܢܗܪ ܠܟ
lk mnhr bdlqh dshrg' 'yk klh mnhr nhw' khshwk' mdm mnth' bh wlyth nhyr klh pgrk dyn 'n
If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܡܡܠܠ ܒܥܐ ܡܢܗ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܚܕ ܕܢܫܬܪܐ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܥܠ ܐܣܬܡܟ
'sthmk wel lwthh dnshthr' khd prysh' mnh be' mmll dyn kd
Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in, and sat at the table.

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܟܕ ܚܙܝܗܝ ܐܬܕܡܪ ܕܠܐ ܠܘܩܕܡ ܥܡܕ ܡܢ ܩܕܡ ܫܪܘܬܗ
shrwthh qdm mn emd lwqdm dl' 'thdmr khzyhy kd prysh' dyn hw
When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner.

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܗܫܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܟܣܐ ܘܕܦܝܢܟܐ ܡܕܟܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܓܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܠܐ ܚܛܘܦܝܐ ܘܒܝܫܬܐ
wbyshth' khTwpy' ml' dyn mnkwn lgw 'nthwn mdkyn wdpynk' dks' brh prysh' 'nthwn hsh' yshwe dyn lh 'mr
The Lord said to him,
“Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.

ܚܣܝܪܝ ܪܥܝܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܕܥܒܕ ܕܠܒܪ ܘܕܠܓܘ ܗܘ ܥܒܕ
ebd hw wdlgw dlbr debd mn hw' l' reyn' khsyry
You foolish ones, didn’t he who made the outside make the inside also?
41
ܒܪܡ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܒܘܗܝ ܒܙܕܩܬܐ ܘܗܐ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܟܐ ܗܘ ܠܟܘܢ
lkwn hw dk' klmdm wh' bzdqth' hbwhy d'yth mdm brm
But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.
42
ܐܠܐ ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܕܡܥܣܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܢܢܥܐ ܘܦܓܢܐ ܘܟܠ ܝܘܪܩ ܘܥܒܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܥܠ ܚܘܒܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܘܗܠܝܢ ܠܐ ܬܫܒܩܘܢ
thshbqwn l' whlyn dthebdwn hw' wl' dyn hlyn d'lh' khwb' wel dyn' el 'nthwn webryn ywrq wkl wpgn' nne' 'nthwn dmesryn prysh' lkwn wy 'l'
But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and God’s love. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܕܪܚܡܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܪܝܫ ܡܘܬܒܐ ܒܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܘܫܠܡܐ ܒܫܘܩܐ
bshwq' wshlm' bknwshth' mwthb' rysh 'nthwn drkhmyn prysh' lkwn wy
Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues, and the greetings in the marketplaces.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܦܪܝܫܐ ܢܣܒܝ ܒܐܦܐ ܕܐܝܬܝܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܩܒܪܐ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܝܥܝܢ ܘܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ
ydeyn wl' elyhwn mhlkyn 'nsh' wbny ydyeyn dl' qbr' 'yk d'ythykwn b'p' nsby wprysh' spr' lkwn wy
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them don’t know it.”

ܘܥܢܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ ܐܦ ܠܢ ܡܨܥܪ ܐܢܬ

One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you insult us also.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܦ ܠܟܘܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܝ ܕܡܛܥܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܡܘܒܠܐ ܝܩܝܪܬܐ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܨܒܥܬܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܩܪܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗܝܢ ܠܡܘܒܠܐ
lmwbl' lhyn 'nthwn qrbyn l' tsbethkwn mn bkhd' w'nthwn yqyrth' mwbl' 'nsh' lbny 'nthwn dmTenyn wy spr' lkwn 'p 'mr dyn hw
He said,
“Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves won’t even lift one finger to help carry those burdens.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܒܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܩܒܪܐ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܕܐܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܩܛܠܘ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn qTlw d'bhykwn dnby' qbr' 'nthwn dbnyn lkwn wy
Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

ܣܗܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܗܟܝܠ ܘܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܥܒܕܐ ܕܐܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܕܗܢܘܢ ܩܛܠܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܩܒܪܝܗܘܢ
qbryhwn 'nthwn bnyn w'nthwn 'nwn qTlw dhnwn d'bhykwn bebd' 'nthwn wtsbyn hkyl 'nthwn shdyn
So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܦ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܕܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܫܕܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܒܝܐ ܘܫܠܝܚܐ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܢܪܕܦܘܢ ܘܢܩܛܠܘܢ

Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute,

ܕܢܬܬܒܥ ܕܡܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܐܬܐܫܕ ܡܢ ܕܐܬܒܪܝ ܥܠܡܐ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ
hd' shrbth' mn elm' d'thbry mn d'th'shd nby' dklhwn dm' dnththbe
that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

ܡܢ ܕܡܗ ܕܗܒܝܠ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܕܡܗ ܕܙܟܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܬܩܛܠ ܒܝܢܝ ܗܝܟܠܐ ܠܡܕܒܚܐ ܐܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܡܬܬܒܥ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ
hd' shrbth' mn dmththbe lkwn 'n' 'mr 'yn lmdbkh' hykl' byny d'thqTl hw dzkry' ldmh edm' dhbyl dmh mn
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܕܫܩܠܬܘܢ ܩܠܝܕܐ ܕܝܕܥܬܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܥܠܬܘܢ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܐܠܝܢ ܟܠܝܬܘܢ
klythwn de'lyn wl'ylyn elthwn l' 'nthwn dydeth' qlyd' dshqlthwn spr' lkwn wy
Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn’t enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.”

ܘܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܪܝܘ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܦܪܝܫܐ ܡܬܒܐܫ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܡܬܚܡܬܝܢ ܘܡܬܟܣܝܢ ܡܠܘܗܝ

As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him;
