ܘܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܗܘ ܡܨܠܐ ܒܕܘܟܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܟܕ ܫܠܡ ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ ܡܪܢ ܐܠܦܝܢ ܠܡܨܠܝܘ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܕܐܦ ܝܘܚܢܢ ܐܠܦ ܠܬܠܡܝܕܘܗܝ

When he finished praying in a certain place, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John also taught his disciples.”

ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܐܡܬܝ ܕܡܨܠܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܒܘܢ ܕܒܫܡܝܐ ܢܬܩܕܫ ܫܡܟ ܬܐܬܐ ܡܠܟܘܬܟ ܢܗܘܐ ܨܒܝܢܟ ܐܝܟ ܕܒܫܡܝܐ ܐܦ ܒܐܪܥܐ
'mr lhwn yshwe 'mthy dmtslyn 'nthwn hkn' hwythwn 'mryn 'bwn dbshmy' nthqdsh shmk th'th' mlkwthk nhw' tsbynk 'yk dbshmy' 'p b're'
He said to them,
“When you pray, say,
‘Our Father in heaven,
may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come.
May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

ܗܒ ܠܢ ܠܚܡܐ ܕܣܘܢܩܢܢ ܟܠܝܘܡ

Give us day by day our daily bread.

ܘܫܒܘܩ ܠܢ ܚܛܗܝܢ ܐܦ ܐܢܚܢܢ ܓܝܪ ܫܒܩܢ ܠܟܠ ܕܚܝܒܝܢ ܠܢ ܘܠܐ ܬܥܠܢ ܠܢܣܝܘܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܦܪܘܩܝܢ ܡܢ ܒܝܫܐ
wshbwq ln khThyn 'p 'nkhnn gyr shbqn lkl dkhybyn ln wl' theln lnsywn' 'l' prwqyn mn bysh'
Forgive us our sins,
for we ourselves also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
Bring us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.’”

ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܡܢܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܪܚܡܐ ܘܢܐܙܠ ܠܘܬܗ ܒܦܠܓܘܬ ܠܠܝܐ ܘܢܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܪܚܡܝ ܐܫܐܠܝܢܝ ܬܠܬ ܓܪܝܨܢ

He said to them,
“Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread,

ܡܛܠ ܕܪܚܡܐ ܐܬܐ ܠܘܬܝ ܡܢ ܐܘܪܚܐ ܘܠܝܬ ܠܝ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܣܝܡ ܠܗ

for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’

ܘܗܘ ܪܚܡܗ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܢܥܢܐ ܘܢܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܠܐ ܬܗܪܝܢܝ ܕܗܐ ܬܪܥܐ ܐܚܝܕ ܗܘ ܘܒܢܝ ܥܡܝ ܒܥܪܣܐ ܠܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܐܢܐ ܕܐܩܘܡ ܘܐܬܠ ܠܟ

and he from within will answer and say, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give it to you’?

ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܢ ܡܛܠ ܪܚܡܘܬܐ ܠܐ ܢܬܠ ܠܗ ܡܛܠ ܚܨܝܦܘܬܗ ܢܩܘܡ ܘܢܬܠ ܠܗ ܟܡܐ ܕܡܬܒܥܐ ܠܗ
'mr 'n' lkwn d'n mTl rkhmwth' l' nthl lh mTl khtsypwthh nqwm wnthl lh km' dmthbe' lh
I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.

ܐܦ ܐܢܐ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܫܐܠܘ ܘܢܬܝܗܒ ܠܟܘܢ ܒܥܘ ܘܬܫܟܚܘܢ ܩܘܫܘ ܘܢܬܦܬܚ ܠܟܘܢ
'p 'n' 'mr 'n' lkwn sh'lw wnthyhb lkwn bew wthshkkhwn qwshw wnthpthkh lkwn
“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.

ܟܠ ܓܝܪ ܕܫܐܠ ܢܣܒ ܘܕܒܥܐ ܡܫܟܚ ܘܕܢܩܫ ܡܬܦܬܚ ܠܗ

For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

ܐܝܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܐܒܐ ܕܢܫܐܠܝܘܗܝ ܒܪܗ ܠܚܡܐ ܠܡܐ ܟܐܦܐ ܡܘܫܛ ܠܗ ܘܐܢ ܢܘܢܐ ܢܫܐܠܝܘܗܝ ܠܡܐ ܚܠܦ ܢܘܢܐ ܚܘܝܐ ܡܘܫܛ ܠܗ
'yn' gyr mnkwn 'b' dnsh'lywhy brh lkhm' lm' k'p' mwshT lh w'n nwn' nsh'lywhy lm' khlp nwn' khwy' mwshT lh
“Which of you fathers, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, he won’t give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?

ܘܐܢ ܒܪܬܐ ܢܫܐܠܝܘܗܝ ܠܡܐ ܗܘ ܥܩܪܒܐ ܡܘܫܛ ܠܗ

Or if he asks for an egg, he won’t give him a scorpion, will he?

ܘܐܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܒܝܫܐ ܐܝܬܝܟܘܢ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܡܘܗܒܬܐ ܛܒܬܐ ܠܡܬܠ ܠܒܢܝܟܘܢ ܟܡܐ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܒܘܟܘܢ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܢܬܠ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܩܘܕܫܐ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܫܐܠܝܢ ܠܗ

If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?”

ܘܟܕ ܡܦܩ ܫܐܕܐ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܚܪܫܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܟܕ ܢܦܩ ܗܘ ܫܐܕܐ ܡܠܠ ܗܘ ܚܪܫܐ ܘܐܬܕܡܪܘ ܟܢܫܐ

He was casting out a demon, and it was mute. When the demon had gone out, the mute man spoke; and the multitudes marveled.

ܐܢܫܐ ܕܝܢ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܐܡܪܘ ܒܒܥܠܙܒܘܒ ܪܫܐ ܕܕܝܘܐ ܡܦܩ ܗܢܐ ܕܝܘܐ

But some of them said, “He casts out demons by Beelzebul, the prince of the demons.”

ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܟܕ ܡܢܣܝܢ ܠܗ ܐܬܐ ܡܢ ܫܡܝܐ ܫܐܠܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܗ

Others, testing him, sought from him a sign from heaven.

ܝܫܘܥ ܕܝܢ ܕܝܕܥ ܗܘܐ ܡܚܫܒܬܗܘܢ ܐܡܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܟܠ ܡܠܟܘ ܕܬܬܦܠܓ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܗ ܬܚܪܒ ܘܒܝܬܐ ܕܥܠ ܩܢܘܡܗ ܡܬܦܠܓ ܢܦܠ

But he, knowing their thoughts, said to them,
“Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation. A house divided against itself falls.

ܘܐܢ ܣܛܢܐ ܥܠ ܢܦܫܗ ܐܬܦܠܓ ܐܝܟܢܐ ܬܩܘܡ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܒܒܥܠܙܒܘܒ ܡܦܩ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܘܐ
w'n sTn' el npshh 'thplg 'ykn' thqwm mlkwthh d'mryn 'nthwn dbbelzbwb mpq 'n' dyw'
If Satan also is divided against himself, how will his kingdom stand? For you say that I cast out demons by Beelzebul.

ܘܐܢ ܐܢܐ ܒܒܥܠܙܒܘܒ ܡܦܩ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܘܐ ܒܢܝܟܘܢ ܒܡܢܐ ܡܦܩܝܢ ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܗܢܘܢ ܢܗܘܘܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܝܢܐ
w'n 'n' bbelzbwb mpq 'n' dyw' bnykwn bmn' mpqyn mTl hn' hnwn nhwwn lkwn dyn'
But if I cast out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore will they be your judges.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܒܨܒܥܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܡܦܩ ܐܢܐ ܕܝܘܐ ܩܪܒܬ ܠܗ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܡܠܟܘܬܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ

But if I by God’s finger cast out demons, then God’s Kingdom has come to you.

ܐܡܬܝ ܕܚܣܝܢܐ ܟܕ ܡܙܝܢ ܢܛܪ ܕܪܬܗ ܒܫܝܢܐ ܗܘ ܩܢܝܢܗ
'mthy dkhsyn' kd mzyn nTr drthh bshyn' hw qnynh
“When the strong man, fully armed, guards his own dwelling, his goods are safe.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܢܐܬܐ ܡܢ ܕܚܣܝܢ ܡܢܗ ܢܙܟܝܘܗܝ ܟܠܗ ܙܝܢܗ ܫܩܠ ܗܘ ܕܬܟܝܠ ܗܘܐ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܘܒܙܬܗ ܡܦܠܓ
'n dyn n'th' mn dkhsyn mnh nzkywhy klh zynh shql hw dthkyl hw' elwhy wbzthh mplg
But when someone stronger attacks him and overcomes him, he takes from him his whole armor in which he trusted, and divides his plunder.

ܡܢ ܕܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܥܡܝ ܠܘܩܒܠܝ ܗܘ ܘܡܢ ܕܠܐ ܟܢܫ ܥܡܝ ܡܒܕܪܘ ܡܒܕܪ

“He that is not with me is against me. He who doesn’t gather with me scatters.

ܪܘܚܐ ܛܢܦܬܐ ܡܐ ܕܢܦܩܬ ܡܢ ܒܪ ܐܢܫܐ ܐܙܠܐ ܡܬܟܪܟܐ ܒܐܬܪܘܬܐ ܕܡܝܐ ܠܝܬ ܒܗܘܢ ܕܬܒܥܐ ܠܗ ܢܝܚܐ ܘܡܐ ܕܠܐ ܐܫܟܚܬ ܐܡܪܐ ܐܗܦܘܟ ܠܒܝܬܝ ܐܝܡܟܐ ܕܢܦܩܬ

The unclean spirit, when he has gone out of the man, passes through dry places, seeking rest, and finding none, he says, ‘I will turn back to my house from which I came out.’

ܘܐܢ ܐܬܬ ܐܫܟܚܬܗ ܕܚܡܝܡ ܘܡܨܒܬ

When he returns, he finds it swept and put in order.

ܗܝܕܝܢ ܐܙܠܐ ܕܒܪܐ ܫܒܥ ܪܘܚܝܢ ܐܚܪܢܝܢ ܕܒܝܫܢ ܡܢܗ ܘܥܐܠܢ ܘܥܡܪܢ ܬܡܢ ܘܗܘܝܐ ܚܪܬܗ ܕܒܪܢܫܐ ܗܘ ܒܝܫܐ ܡܢ ܩܕܡܝܬܗ

Then he goes, and takes seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there. The last state of that man becomes worse than the first.”

ܘܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܡܠܠ ܗܘܐ ܐܪܝܡܬ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܩܠܗ ܡܢ ܟܢܫܐ ܘܐܡܪܬ ܠܗ ܛܘܒܝܗ ܠܟܪܣܐ ܕܛܥܢܬܟ ܘܠܬܕܝܐ ܕܐܝܢܩܘܟ

It came to pass, as he said these things, a certain woman out of the multitude lifted up her voice, and said to him, “Blessed is the womb that bore you, and the breasts which nursed you!”

But he said,
“On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God, and keep it.”

ܘܟܕ ܡܬܟܢܫܝܢ ܗܘܘ ܟܢܫܐ ܫܪܝ ܠܡܐܡܪ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܒܝܫܬܐ ܐܬܐ ܒܥܝܐ ܘܐܬܐ ܠܐ ܬܬܝܗܒ ܠܗ ܐܠܐ ܐܬܗ ܕܝܘܢܢ ܢܒܝܐ

When the multitudes were gathering together to him, he began to say,
“This is an evil generation. It seeks after a sign. No sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah, the prophet.

ܐܝܟܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܗܘܐ ܝܘܢܢ ܐܬܐ ܠܢܝܢܘܝܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܐܦ ܒܪܗ ܕܐܢܫܐ ܠܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ

For even as Jonah became a sign to the Ninevites, so will also the Son of Man be to this generation.

ܡܠܟܬܐ ܕܬܝܡܢܐ ܬܩܘܡ ܒܕܝܢܐ ܥܡ ܐܢܫܐ ܕܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܬܚܝܒ ܐܢܘܢ ܕܐܬܬ ܡܢ ܥܒܪܝܗ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܕܬܫܡܥ ܚܟܡܬܗ ܕܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܘܗܐ ܕܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܗܪܟܐ
mlkth' dthymn' thqwm bdyn' em 'nsh' dshrbth' hd' wthkhyb 'nwn d'thth mn ebryh d're' dthshme khkmthh dshlymwn wh' dythyr mn shlymwn hrk'
The Queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation, and will condemn them: for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and behold, one greater than Solomon is here.

ܓܒܪܐ ܢܝܢܘܝܐ ܢܩܘܡܘܢ ܒܕܝܢܐ ܥܡ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ ܘܢܚܝܒܘܢܗ ܕܬܒܘ ܒܟܪܘܙܘܬܗ ܕܝܘܢܢ ܘܗܐ ܕܝܬܝܪ ܡܢ ܝܘܢܢ ܗܪܟܐ
gbr' nynwy' nqwmwn bdyn' em shrbth' hd' wnkhybwnh dthbw bkrwzwthh dywnn wh' dythyr mn ywnn hrk'
The men of Nineveh will stand up in the judgment with this generation, and will condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, one greater than Jonah is here.

“No one, when he has lit a lamp, puts it in a cellar or under a basket, but on a stand, that those who come in may see the light.

ܫܪܓܗ ܕܦܓܪܟ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܥܝܢܟ ܐܡܬܝ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܥܝܢܟ ܦܫܝܛܐ ܐܦ ܟܠܗ ܦܓܪܟ ܢܗܘܐ ܢܗܝܪ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܬܗܘܐ ܒܝܫܐ ܘܐܦ ܦܓܪܟ ܢܗܘܐ ܚܫܘܟ

The lamp of the body is the eye. Therefore when your eye is good, your whole body is also full of light; but when it is evil, your body also is full of darkness.

ܐܙܕܗܪ ܗܟܝܠ ܕܠܡܐ ܢܘܗܪܐ ܕܒܟ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܗܘ
'zdhr hkyl dlm' nwhr' dbk khshwk' hw
Therefore see whether the light that is in you isn’t darkness.

ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܦܓܪܟ ܟܠܗ ܢܗܝܪ ܘܠܝܬ ܒܗ ܡܢܬܐ ܡܕܡ ܚܫܘܟܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܡܢܗܪ ܟܠܗ ܐܝܟ ܕܫܪܓܐ ܒܕܠܩܗ ܡܢܗܪ ܠܟ
'n dyn pgrk klh nhyr wlyth bh mnth' mdm khshwk' nhw' mnhr klh 'yk dshrg' bdlqh mnhr lk
If therefore your whole body is full of light, having no part dark, it will be wholly full of light, as when the lamp with its bright shining gives you light.”

ܟܕ ܕܝܢ ܡܡܠܠ ܒܥܐ ܡܢܗ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܚܕ ܕܢܫܬܪܐ ܠܘܬܗ ܘܥܠ ܐܣܬܡܟ

Now as he spoke, a certain Pharisee asked him to dine with him. He went in, and sat at the table.

When the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed himself before dinner.

ܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܕܝܢ ܝܫܘܥ ܗܫܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܒܪܗ ܕܟܣܐ ܘܕܦܝܢܟܐ ܡܕܟܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܓܘ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܠܐ ܚܛܘܦܝܐ ܘܒܝܫܬܐ

The Lord said to him,
“Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the platter, but your inward part is full of extortion and wickedness.

ܚܣܝܪܝ ܪܥܝܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܕܥܒܕ ܕܠܒܪ ܘܕܠܓܘ ܗܘ ܥܒܕ

You foolish ones, didn’t he who made the outside make the inside also?

ܒܪܡ ܡܕܡ ܕܐܝܬ ܗܒܘܗܝ ܒܙܕܩܬܐ ܘܗܐ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܕܟܐ ܗܘ ܠܟܘܢ

But give for gifts to the needy those things which are within, and behold, all things will be clean to you.

ܐܠܐ ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܕܡܥܣܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܢܢܥܐ ܘܦܓܢܐ ܘܟܠ ܝܘܪܩ ܘܥܒܪܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܥܠ ܕܝܢܐ ܘܥܠ ܚܘܒܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܝܢ ܘܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܕܬܥܒܕܘܢ ܘܗܠܝܢ ܠܐ ܬܫܒܩܘܢ
'l' wy lkwn prysh' dmesryn 'nthwn nne' wpgn' wkl ywrq webryn 'nthwn el dyn' wel khwb' d'lh' hlyn dyn wl' hw' dthebdwn whlyn l' thshbqwn
But woe to you Pharisees! For you tithe mint and rue and every herb, but you bypass justice and God’s love. You ought to have done these, and not to have left the other undone.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܦܪܝܫܐ ܕܪܚܡܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܪܝܫ ܡܘܬܒܐ ܒܟܢܘܫܬܐ ܘܫܠܡܐ ܒܫܘܩܐ
wy lkwn prysh' drkhmyn 'nthwn rysh mwthb' bknwshth' wshlm' bshwq'
Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues, and the greetings in the marketplaces.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܦܪܝܫܐ ܢܣܒܝ ܒܐܦܐ ܕܐܝܬܝܟܘܢ ܐܝܟ ܩܒܪܐ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܝܥܝܢ ܘܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܡܗܠܟܝܢ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ
wy lkwn spr' wprysh' nsby b'p' d'ythykwn 'yk qbr' dl' ydyeyn wbny 'nsh' mhlkyn elyhwn wl' ydeyn
Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like hidden graves, and the men who walk over them don’t know it.”

ܘܥܢܐ ܚܕ ܡܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܗ ܡܠܦܢܐ ܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܬ ܐܦ ܠܢ ܡܨܥܪ ܐܢܬ

One of the lawyers answered him, “Teacher, in saying this you insult us also.”

ܗܘ ܕܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܦ ܠܟܘܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܝ ܕܡܛܥܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܒܢܝ ܐܢܫܐ ܡܘܒܠܐ ܝܩܝܪܬܐ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܨܒܥܬܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܩܪܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܗܝܢ ܠܡܘܒܠܐ
hw dyn 'mr 'p lkwn spr' wy dmTenyn 'nthwn lbny 'nsh' mwbl' yqyrth' w'nthwn bkhd' mn tsbethkwn l' qrbyn 'nthwn lhyn lmwbl'
He said,
“Woe to you lawyers also! For you load men with burdens that are difficult to carry, and you yourselves won’t even lift one finger to help carry those burdens.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܒܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܩܒܪܐ ܕܢܒܝܐ ܕܐܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܩܛܠܘ ܐܢܘܢ
wy lkwn dbnyn 'nthwn qbr' dnby' d'bhykwn qTlw 'nwn
Woe to you! For you build the tombs of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.

ܣܗܕܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܗܟܝܠ ܘܨܒܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܥܒܕܐ ܕܐܒܗܝܟܘܢ ܕܗܢܘܢ ܩܛܠܘ ܐܢܘܢ ܘܐܢܬܘܢ ܒܢܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܩܒܪܝܗܘܢ
shdyn 'nthwn hkyl wtsbyn 'nthwn bebd' d'bhykwn dhnwn qTlw 'nwn w'nthwn bnyn 'nthwn qbryhwn
So you testify and consent to the works of your fathers. For they killed them, and you build their tombs.

ܡܛܠ ܗܢܐ ܐܦ ܚܟܡܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܡܪܬ ܕܗܐ ܐܢܐ ܐܫܕܪ ܠܗܘܢ ܢܒܝܐ ܘܫܠܝܚܐ ܡܢܗܘܢ ܢܪܕܦܘܢ ܘܢܩܛܠܘܢ

Therefore also the wisdom of God said, ‘I will send to them prophets and apostles; and some of them they will kill and persecute,

ܕܢܬܬܒܥ ܕܡܐ ܕܟܠܗܘܢ ܢܒܝܐ ܕܐܬܐܫܕ ܡܢ ܕܐܬܒܪܝ ܥܠܡܐ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ
dnththbe dm' dklhwn nby' d'th'shd mn d'thbry elm' mn shrbth' hd'
that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation;

ܡܢ ܕܡܗ ܕܗܒܝܠ ܥܕܡܐ ܠܕܡܗ ܕܙܟܪܝܐ ܗܘ ܕܐܬܩܛܠ ܒܝܢܝ ܗܝܟܠܐ ܠܡܕܒܚܐ ܐܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܡܬܬܒܥ ܡܢ ܫܪܒܬܐ ܗܕܐ
mn dmh dhbyl edm' ldmh dzkry' hw d'thqTl byny hykl' lmdbkh' 'yn 'mr 'n' lkwn dmththbe mn shrbth' hd'
from the blood of Abel to the blood of Zachariah, who perished between the altar and the sanctuary.’ Yes, I tell you, it will be required of this generation.

ܘܝ ܠܟܘܢ ܣܦܪܐ ܕܫܩܠܬܘܢ ܩܠܝܕܐ ܕܝܕܥܬܐ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܠܐ ܥܠܬܘܢ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܥܐܠܝܢ ܟܠܝܬܘܢ
wy lkwn spr' dshqlthwn qlyd' dydeth' 'nthwn l' elthwn wl'ylyn de'lyn klythwn
Woe to you lawyers! For you took away the key of knowledge. You didn’t enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in, you hindered.”

ܘܟܕ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܗܘܐ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܪܝܘ ܣܦܪܐ ܘܦܪܝܫܐ ܡܬܒܐܫ ܠܗܘܢ ܘܡܬܚܡܬܝܢ ܘܡܬܟܣܝܢ ܡܠܘܗܝ

As he said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to be terribly angry, and to draw many things out of him;

ܘܢܟܠܝܢ ܠܗ ܒܣܓܝܐܬܐ ܟܕ ܒܥܝܢ ܠܡܐܚܕ ܡܕܡ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗ ܕܢܫܟܚܘܢ ܢܐܟܠܘܢ ܩܪܨܘܗܝ

lying in wait for him, and seeking to catch him in something he might say, that they might accuse him.
